This was my first time in Houston and a friend recommended this place. I didn't have much free time since I was in a work trip but I was able to stop by for dinner. It was a Tuesday night and not very crowded. It's in a plaza with plenty of parking but Ubered there. The ambiance was very nice and the music was a good level. It was mainly R&B/HipHop. They had taco Tuesday food and drinks specials but I didn't order it this time. I sat at the bar and ordered their Dusse and Lavender drink which was made very well and tasted delicious. After ordering I discovered they had Sir Davis and had to try it out since I was in TX of course. It was smooth enough but still a whiskey lol I order the lamb chops with the Mac and cheese and greens. The lamb chops were seasoned well and the sides were pretty good too. I have no complaints. We were invited to a birthday party for one of my BEST friends. Her nephew Carey is a partner at Kiss Restaurant. He provided a private, beautifully decorated room and a special menu with a variety of their specialties. The wait staff came in and sang "Happy Birthday" to her with lighted sparklers and a HBD marquee. So nice!!! The atmosphere is a vibe and the place was full. I Loved the music and found myself dancing in the isle by our table and it was acceptable. There is a dress code which I appreciated. You cannot go in there looking any kind of way. Came on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. There is a big lot but shares with a lot of other businesses on the strip. They also have valet. The place was decorated for Halloween as it was October but still not what I would expect for a place that purports to be upscale. We started with the krab cake beignet and they were so good! Comes with 5 and full of crab meat. We got a mimosa carafe and my friend also got an espresso martini. Mimosas are made with Wycliff and very good. I got the salmon breakfast with my eggs scrambled and the scramble was perfect. Salmon was moist but the sauce on top didn't taste like anything. Also had some broccolini and breakfast potatoes. My friend first got the oxtail but we all agreed they were tough and not that flavorful so she unfortunately sent it back. I don't remember what my third friend got but she liked it. They had a DJ but he was only playing throwbacks and requests for current music weren't honored so the vibe wasn't as good as it could have been. There was also a saxophonist but he probably played for a total of 5 minutes for the 2 hours we were there. The older people in the place were very much getting down but we were just kinda giving in our seats. They have mini Ferris wheels of shots starting at $150 and come with sparklers and a sign if you're celebrating. They charge auto gratuity. The bouncers open the doors for you when walk in which because I was granted entry was a good thing. I can imagine if you don't pass the vibe check , the bouncers could be intimidating. I really enjoyed KISS, but there are a few things that dampened the experience for me. Let me just say that I loved the environment, service and overall experience. The service was excellent... our waitress was very attentive, and the owner came to check on us. For a party of 10, we never had to wait too long for anything. She was amazing! Five stars for ambiance and service. They DJ spoke to my soul and was amazing! On the other hand, other things that hindered an otherwise amazing experience: it was so dark in our area at night that we had to ask for lighting (they eventually added candles to the table). I had to use the flash light on my phone to make sure I was actually cutting my short rib. The drinks and food are very overpriced! I don't mind paying for great food and an upscale experience; however, a minimum for $75 per person is new for me (I just think it should be my option; yet, I was there to support a friend). Our bill came up to over $700, and we were informed that we were still about $40 under our minimum (mind you, tipping or taxes do not count, because I figured that's okay; that $40 can just be a part of the large tip that we have to leave. Negative.) I ordered the short rib and replaced the potatoes with mashed potatoes (there was a $5 up charge to change my potatoes to other potatoes). The short rib was tough around the edges and tender in the middle (huge offerings); I got excited about the tender portion of the short rib until I realized that it was majority fat and I couldn't eat it. The drinks were very weak. We later found out that they make most of their drinks by the batch. I advise you to order something from the bar (not on the menu) if you actually want to taste liquor. I felt like I was drinking lemonade when I ordered one of the strawberry cocktails; I later ordered an expresso martini (not on menu), which was good. They have a cupcake wheel that seems to be their specialty ($40; 6 cupcakes). We were informed that they ran out of cupcakes, then the manager (or owner) was able to get us a cupcake wheel a while later. The cupcake entrance is cool, but I just would think that with such a large party in your establishment for a celebration, the person being celebrated could at least have a complimentary cupcake (if only one). Overall, I am not from Houston and was only visiting - and perhaps it's because we have so many amazing options in Orlando where you truly get a great experience, especially if you're going to spend close to $1,000 - but I don't think it's worth the money. Perfect for tons of IG-worthy photos, the ambiance and environment here is exceptional. Birthday celebrations are super cool. They come out with specialized music, sparklers, illuminated shot wheels (I guess?), and a marquee with a personalized birthday message. They even had go-go and aerial acrobatic dancers! The playlist is perfect for black millennials! THE DJ was so good that I had to go up to him and shake his hand. You would love the music here. My wife has already been here 3 times. We had a reservation for 7:15. We were on time for our reservation and we were seated immediately. Our server was absolutely great. She was very attentive, friendly and helpful. We sat at the tables right in front of the bar. The space in between each table is tight but we made it work. We got the 3 course meal where you can choose 3 items - the appetizer, main course and dessert. It was only $55 a person! I don't really drink however, my wife loves the flavor of the drinks though she said they aren't very strong. Courses were served within 20-25 minutes of each other with the appetizer being served in about 10-15 minutes after ordering. Everything we ate was delicious, hot, and had fantastic presentation. My favorite was the red curry wings. Super smoky, curry flavor and succulent in each bite. This portion size isn't huge but will definitely get you full. So full that we ended up taking a bunch home. This place is sure to impress. The music, service, food, and overall experience is top notch. We genuinely enjoyed it here and we will definitely be back. Tip 1: Dress Code is strictly enforced. I ordered the NOLA stuffed chicken. It had great flavor. But this very same Yelp page there are pictures with the same dish, but with 2 chicken breasts. I asked if this was somehow the lunch portion and the waitress noted that as lo g as she can recall, this was the dinner portion (1 chicken breast). I must have the pictures or my Yelp Search confused with their Dallas location. Didn't know you had a Dallas location, so that couldn't be it. I order by picture most time and note what looks good. This dish looked good and from what I saw on the pics these customers had more than one chicken breast. I am not sure when the Chef decided to scale back, but something changed. All together, my experience was just okay. I am was also a bit turned off by the waitress telling us that there is a two hour limit $350 into our $430 bill. Wow! Wasn't ready for that. This place is neat, cool, and a vibe. It is pretty pricey and portions are sketchy, but the music is great. Drinks are just okay and parking is "get here early please" or valet. I've been here twice and each time I could not hear anyone else at the table because the music is extremely too loud. The music was great, but what's the point of having dinner with a group or another person if you can't hear the person next to you. I asked the waiter if it was possible to turn the music down because the loud volume was messing with a member of the party's hearing aide. The manager came by and his response was that the owner wanted the volume level set to "a particular volume" and it would not be turned down. The volume decibel level was 92. The Houston city ordinance states that non-residential establishments cannot exceed a decibel level of 68 (64 is the recommend level for music). I asked for the manager a second time to explain this to him and he did not come back to the table. The chicken and waffles was great, gratuity is included and they only take up to three credit cards. Kiss has a bunch of ridiculous dress code rules and regulations, but runs brunch and dinner like a nightclub. I want better for Houston restaurants. read more

I'm actually not really sure what this place is trying to be. With such a short menu, I have very high expectations because I would expect what you do to do well since your main entree items are so limited. I ordered stuffed chicken. There are no substitutions on any of the crafted entrees on the menu. The cornbread is extra and was very very dry. My entree was cold when it came out so they offered to make me a new one. I Accepted. I honestly don't even remember this meal which leads me to believe it was meh. I'm not in a rush to get back here. Fried oysters- these were really good and I almost ordered them again! Dumplings- the sauce for the dumplings was good and the dumpling was ok. Boudin egg rolls- these were not tasty at all. We both took one bite and that was it. The drinks were ok. I got the "The bigger picture" and when the bartender made it the first time, it was really good. The second time it tasted like cough syrup. The ambience was nice, it's a cute space for date night, ladies night out, or if you just want to grab a drink at the bar. I've been to Kiss Houston multiple times and being from Dallas, this location is the best. It's the perfect atmosphere for a girls night, first date, or intimate birthday dinner. The service is the best in Houston honestly. They even brought a purse rack to my table for our group of 4. I have never had a bad experience here. I usually get the Nola stuffed chicken which is 10/10! This is the first time I tried something new and the lamb chops were so good. I brought my family here and they all loved it.
