I LOVE Klong! I've been here plenty of times just to sit at the bar for their amazing happy hour drinks (run until 8pm even on Fridays). A mojito costs $3 or you can even get a pitcher of them for $25. Beware though, three mojitos and I'm already feeling pretty tipsy.. They give you a bang for your buck and nowhere else in the city can you get drinks for this cheap. The service is also amazing! If you choose to stay for dinner, there's usually a 30min-45min wait. But you can always stand around the bar and grab a few drinks before your table is ready. Food: -Klong chicken wings ($8)- They give you 5 of these amazing, crispy wings. They are sweet, yet spicy with a nice flavor to them. I literally wish I could order like 15 of these wings. -Pad see yew with pork belly ($15)- I'm a huge fan of pork belly so I'm always happy when a Thai place lets me order pork belly instead of beef/chicken with my pad see yew. They are definitely super generous with the pork belly and give you over 8 huge chunks. The noodles are delicious, and the sauce isn't too overwhelmingly sweet like some other places. One of the best value meals I've had in NYC. We came for lunch on Sunday when it seemed like literally every other place on St. Marks had a 2 hour wait. Klong seated us right away - truly a miracle in East Village. Then we discovered the lunch special and fell in love. EVERYDAY until 3:30PM for $10 you can get an entree, appetizer, and your choice of soup or salad. There are 6-10 options for the entree/app, and honest they all sounded good. We ended up trying the sesame tofu and spring roll which were tasty. The pad thai and kee mao, also delicious! The protein options are also extensive, with chicken, pork, tofu, or veggies with no extra charge. Shrimp, beef or mock for $1 extra and pork belly, salmon, or seafood for $2. Seriously, this level of optionality, quality, and affordability is rare in Manhattan and I'm glad we had a chance to experience it. You should too! read more

While i was skeptic at first as this has never happened to me I gave my card and thought it was the restaurants policy. I had never heard of Klong before going but I went for a ​friend's birthday dinner. I'm a lover of happy hour so I was super stoked about the drink menu! They have mojitos/margaritas​/red & white wine/mimosas/draft beef for $3 and the most you'll spend on a pitcher is $30 so bring a group of people. For happy hour they had really flavorful appetizers, a friend and I shared the Curry rice balls and their chicken wings. I almost got full just by eating those The aesthetic of the restaurant​ was dimly light and had traditional​ Thai artwork. The design included dark browns, a bit of gold and also some silvers. It was my first time trying Thai food so I was eager to take a look at the menu. I ordered the Sauteed Pork Fresh Ginger which was cooked in oyster sauce and soy sauce with baby corns, mushrooms, scallions and vegetables with a side of Jasmine rice. The meal was nicely seasoned and had a bit of a kick to it but overall​ mild to what I'm used​ to eating. I wish I went for something a little bit more adventurous​ but the food was pretty good. One of my favorite happy hour spots in NYC! They don't skimp on the portions in their drinks, so be sure to order the pitcher and share with friends. The mojitos and margaritas are given with a generous amount of alcohol, mint, and flavoring. I've tried almost every flavor, and none of them have disappointed, BUT my favorites are definitely the lychee and mango mojito. I've gotten their pad thai and calamari, but I'm excited to try more things around their menu. The ambiance here is a perfect balance of loud and quiet: there are a ton of indistinct conversations buzzing around, but you can hear yourself (and friends) talk. It's easy to miss, and set in a very low-key gem in the middle of Saint Marks, so the wait is generally reasonable. My visit last week was a bit disappointing, since our server/host was a bit distant and unattentive. It must have been an off-day, though, because the bartenders and servers are usually very hospitable. Will be back again! read more

I was intrigued by the menu and the helpful service staff that I knew had to make my way here again one day. As I was leaving a server informed me of their Happy Hour specials, $3 for wine, beer, and flavored mojoitos. To me it seemed too good to be true, but low and behold, IT'S REAL. That is why I find myself writing a review today. On my most recent visit to Klong I came in around 5:30 PM on a Tuesday evening. It was barely packed and their were only two other people sitting at the bar. The bar area itself probably can only seat 13-15 people comfortably, but if you're able to come in and grab a few drinks with friends while it's empty, your wallet will thank you. Like I mentioned above everything on their happy hour menu is $3. An assortment of white and red wines, Sapporo beer, and flavored mojitio's will definitely have you feeling some type of way when you leave. The service staff is attentive and efficient. They're there if you have any questions and are quick to ask if you'd like another drink after you've finished yours. In short, Klong is a great place to grab drinks with friends after work, before a dinner, or while your eating dinner their as well! Tl;dr: service definitely has gone way down (perhaps because they know they get an 18% auto-grat), don't come here if you want a pleasant dining experience. I've been to Klong multiple times in the past with friends for dinner as they have a $35 pitcher during happy hour that's great for sharing and drinking. However, our most recent experience was so bad that we'd rather never come back and find another place for happy hour instead. We didn't have a reservation so we asked if they still take walk-ins as we understand the spot is popular in the area for happy hour, and would've been perfectly fine going to another place if they didn't. They reassured us that they had space, and we sat down and placed our orders. However, throughout our entire dining experience (which was just about an hour long from us sitting down to leaving) we were so incredibly rushed. First, as I was eating my pad thai I had about 3-4 bites left, and had just placed down my fork to continue talking with my friends when a server came and whisked away my bowl without even asking me if I was done. I was so shocked for a split second and by the time I turned around the server was already gone. This only repeated throughout our dining experience with our appetizer and pitcher, both times which we had to verbally stop our server and go "wait we're not done yet". We'd understand if they were busy/had parties waiting and wanted a faster table turnover, but we were literally there for only an hour max (I even checked the time as we left because I was astounded by how much they were rushing us) and the table next to us was empty. We were right by the door so we even turned around periodically to check if there were parties waiting and that's why the server was rushing us so much, but there literally wasn't. The final straw was when we received our bill, and they tried hiding the fact that they added an 18% auto-gratuity on by having the merchant copy with just the subtotal+tip line+signature on top, and the actual itemized bill below that with the 18% auto-grat below (always remember to check your itemized bill!). We were not a large party either, just a group of 4. I was going to tip 18% anyways as I typically do, and had actually written it down on the merchant copy before I double checked the itemized bill and realized they already tacked on the tip. This just left a sour taste in my mouth as I would've double-tipped if I hadn't checked (their menus online do not state auto-grat when we checked and the server did not notify us either), which I'm sure plenty of people might have done in the past. Klong was me and my friends place pre-covid. We would go multiple times a week sometimes. They had the best drink specials and yummy apps!! I was so happy to see that they were still open after the rough few months we've had. I was sad to see that the drinks were no longer $3 but now bumped up to $6 ! I hope that they go back their prices once this is all over. I do love their drinks so strong and their service is always so good! We always get crab ragoons and edamame as our app, they crab ragoons are life changing you have to get them!!! They're currys and fried rice meals are also to side for. This place has some okay Thai food. I have had their Pad Thai with Beef and also the Pad Kee Mao with Chicken. The food here is not necessarily authentic - the sauce was too soupy and the food should have more spice to it. They seemed to skimp on the meat a little too. Still, the food tasted alright overall. It is also surprisingly inexpensive considering how it looks. It has a very modern, hip decor - very dark and dimly lit inside. We also ordered a lot of drinks, I had the Thai iced tea and lychee martini which were both amazinggggggggggly delicious. My friends had other drinks on the menu. The appetizers were average but I enjoyed the pad Thai a lot. The place is a bit small and can get pretty crowded. The ambience is casual and chill. I had a hard time finding the place at first and google maps was my friend that day because it's in a basement like place. The price of the food was around average. Love this place! I can't believe a space with $3 mimosas exists in NYC. I haven't tried the food yet, but I heard great things. I recommend their happy hour, and the mango/lychee mimosas, for sure. Also, if you don't plan on getting food, please be respectful and sit at the bar instead of at a table. I actually took one star away because our server was clearly very upset with us for not ordering food the first time--even though we ordered TONS of drinks. It makes TOTAL sense--but as someone who has worked in customer service for years, I think there's a better way to communicate with customers when upset. If she asked us to move to the bar or told us that tables are reserved for food orders only, all of us would have happily moved. Instead we felt slightly unwelcome, and that's never fun. And usually, when a place has killer drink deals, the food doesn't match up. Hold on to your hats, folks, because Klong DOES. I love their tom kha soup (it's one of my favorites I've found in the city so far), and their pad thai is SOLID. I also just had their happy hour curry rice balls, which was one of the best decisions I made that day. Located where The (now defunct) Hummus Place was, I walked in with a group of friends to enjoy some Thai food and I could not have been more pleased with the service. The appetizers: not huge so as to basically make you unable to enjoy their entrees. I ordered to share the chicken and shrimp dumplings which came in a round shape and enough tartness that it sort of introduced me to their menu. Their entrees are fairly sizable but again not enormous. I had the yellow curry with salmon and it was delicious--and quite hot, so, a warning to anyone with sensitive palates. Usually the wait isn't too bad--this time around I noticed it took longer than expected and things came out separately (when I've been here in the past, I got a platter with all three items). The food quality was still good though! The crab rangoon was probably the best I've ever had. This is also a great place to go for happy hour! It lasts late and the drinks are well priced. Cannot remember the name but I do have a pic. It wasn't part of the lunch combo special (love me a Thai combo meal but this was in a side menu and was calling my name) and was a dinner portion, I think. I ended up taking it back to the office and having it for lunch the next day. It was a bit saltier that I would have liked but I'm more a pepper girl. I'm pretty sure it was from fish sauce. (Side lament: Too many fast food Thai places don't want to overwhelm people with the stuff so the food is too blah.) I like my food with the authentic taste of Thai food and that means going to places that aren't afraid to offer dishes with it. I'm just sensitive to salty things (i.e. I rub the salt off of pretzels). Service was attentive despite having a pretty steady flow of take out and in house seating. This is such a great Thai spot in St Marks Pl. My husband and I stopped by on a Tuesday evening and had no wait. The ambiance is cute and cozy; the servers were very friendly and checked on us a bunch. It was happy hour so we got $30 lychee mojito pitchers! They also have margarita pitchers in many flavors too which is awesome. We ordered Buddha shrimp as an appetizer and we were shocked at how much food it was! It was soo good and definitely worth it. I ordered the Khao soi and it was definitely some of the best I've had in the city. The chicken literally melted off the bone so easily and everything tasted fresh. 10/10. My husband tried Chon-buri gai Yang which definitely a different choice for us. It was good but be weary that it is very spicy! My husband loves spice and he even thought the spice was up there.
