Was pretty enjoyable. I really like shrimp paste and this did not disappoint. I usually go for drinks only, but I recently tried their food, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the pad see ew and it was really yummy. Pad see ew is pretty basic, and they did a good job with it. My friend ordered one of their soups, and she really enjoyed it as well. Both dishes were quite sizeable, so we had plenty of leftovers to take home and eat later! Klong is definitely one of those places I'll go to again and again. We wanted Asian and we're headed downtown. I quick search found Klong! and with a staggering 1.3k yelp reviews and a 3.8 average rating, I was feeling confident. What's the buzz about ? A casual affordable Thai place with NYU student crowd pleasers like pad Thai and curries along with a $6 drinks happy hour, cute wait staff and a grooving dance beat soundtrack. The $6 lychee mimosa was tasty and a big small. Wine was too. I had pumpkin curry with chicken that was delicious with some to take home. I'll definitely go back. Came to Klong for dinner on a Friday night and they place was pretty packed. Cute and cozy decor with a collegiate feel. Perhaps because they are located in the heart of NYU campus. We didn't wait long and was seated immediately. The staff here works pretty fast I guess to move people along and on to the next. Menu wise, there are a lot to choose from. Ideally, I wish they would have a popo platter that you'll see on Chinese menus so I can have a selection of appetizers instead of having to make the hard decision to narrow it down with one or two. In the end, we shared the calamari and wing appetizers and I ordered my own chicken pad thai. Both appetizers were fantastic. Highly recommend them both, esp the wings because it's done so nicely. Though for my pad thai, I thought it was okay. It didn't have the wok hey (charred flavor) so yeah, just thought it was okay. As for customer service, I love how quick and efficient the worker were. Came here with some friends for dinner and the food was yummy Thai food. They also have really great deals for cocktails which is nice, but I couldn't enjoy my time here because the service was mid. We were a group of 6, but the restaurant would only give us a table that was meant for 4. We even offered to wait for a larger table, but the servers didn't acknowledge our request. There were other parties of 6 around us who got an actual table for 6. It was really squishy and we had to rush to finish each dish so that we could make room for the next dish to come. On top of squishing us into a small table, the servers also told us to remove our personal belongings from the table because they couldn't fit the dishes on the table.... Like no duh because you gave us such a small table. I was struggling to not knock down the my drink glasses around me the entire dinner. This is a solid Thai restaurant in East Village. The food didn't stand out in terms of flavor, but it's a good, affordable place if you're craving Thai food. They have an amazing lunch deal until 3:30 pm everyday. For $12, you get a small soup or salad, a choice of appetizer, and a main dish. This is a steal and great value. I was expecting a miso soup, but the soup ended up being a broth with lots of vegetables. You could tell they were frozen, but it still tasted good. The crab ragoons were good. You get 2 and they were covered in a spicy sweet sauce. The inside was some yellow cream cheese concoction that strayed from what I typically expect, but it was still good. I got the pad see ew. It was solid, but nothing special . The portion size is a bit smaller than what you'll find at other Thai places, but they make up for it by the other appetizers and the deal. Beware that they automatically add an 18% tip to your bill. They do not tell you that and the bill where you add the tip is pretty misleading. Usually if places add gratuity, they'll only ask for 2, 3, or 5% extra, but their receipt had the normal ask for 15-20% still. It feels a bit slimey that they do this will explicitly letting you know. read more

Well proportioned and flavored Thai food! Great service and yummy drinks. I came with a group of 8. Your entire party needs to be there in order to get seated. We started with a pitcher of the phuket, which was delicious! Super fruity and fresh. I ordered from the authentic menu the fried rice. While it was a little greasy, it was delicious: the different components added to the rice (like chinese sausage) balanced the texture and flavor. Got my check and 18% tip was Added On my bill. A single diner and they Added On the Tip to my check! It does say on the menu (small print at bottom) tip is added on to parties of 5 or more. This was One Person...Really!?! I paid my check without adding on additional tip (since the tip was already added). I have been to Klong before, so I looked for it and found a receipt from June 2022. I ordered the exact same items, lunch special and two drinks. The total was the same amount but that time no tip was added onto my bill. And I (as I always do) tipped well. But This time, the tip was added, this in not practice, this in not procedure. This was a Judgement! You decided to Judge me! What was the motivation for this? Was I too well-mannered and polite? The inside of this place is decently-sized, so it would be good for larger groups. It was pretty empty on a Tuesday night, and I can definitely see why, despite it being in a nice location. The service was fast and friendly though. There's a happy hour until 7 pm, and we got a pitcher of Sangria for $19. The sangria was not particularly tasty, but I can't tell if it was from the wine or the fruit. A pitcher is definitely more than enough for 2 people though. The setting is cute though, with a candle-lit table. Pad Thai w/ Chicken ($13) - This was super dry and lacked any flavor. There were definitely too many noodles and not enough sauce. The portion size was massive though and had plenty of chicken. Red Curry w/ Pork ($15) - This also lacked a lot of flavors. We asked for it extra spicy and it was anything but that. We got the chicken satay, calamari, taro spring rolls, tofu pad thai, and shrimp green curry. It came out really fast, but kind of suspiciously fast and it was somewhat lukewarm/cold. I wished the tofu was crispier or something but it was really just large, unflavored tofu chunks. The flavor on everything was also a little bit lacking in my opinion, but we liked the taro spring rolls the best out of everything. We also got a lychee mojito pitcher and it was really good!! The aesthetics of the place were really nice and I think I would come back for drinks, but maybe not for food. I'm not super picky with Thai food, as I love the taste of any standard Thai noodles or fried rice, but this was by far some of the tastiest Thai places I've been to. The sesame tofu was delicious and unique since it was crusted with black and white sesame seeds and came with a sweet and sour salsa dip. The spring rolls were also delicious! The pad see ew with mock duck was definitely a stand out dish. It wasn't too salty and the flavors were honestly quite perfect. The mock duck was soft and melted in my mouth. A fantastic, solid spot for Thai food and drinks! Located right in St Marks ville, I was surprised I never noticed this place as it was already starting to crowd at 5PM on a weekend, with both outdoor and indoor dining options. We ordered Pad Thai with Pork ($14), Kee Mao with Pork ($14), Firecrackers ($8), and their $6 Margaritas and Mimosas. For appetizers, the Firecrackers were a fitting name. Essentially shrimp wrapped in spring roll wrapping, the crunch from the wrappers made them fun to eat, especially with a nice tangy sauce to go with it. Warm and comforting, the Pad Thai satisfied my cravings. They didn't offer lime so there wasn't any sour taste to it if you're looking. However, what they do have is delicious juicy pork! I thought their meat would be small tiny pieces, so I was shocked to see how huge and flavorful their pork was. The Kee Mao wasn't too spicy and was quite flavorful. I enjoyed the bamboo shoots that were in it. And of course, the $6 drinks, which my friend raved about, was a great steal. We had the chance to try majority of the Margaritas, and I would say the Mango and Strawberry had the most fruity taste. The Mimosas were good too, although they were served quite lukewarm. The crowd definitely attracts nearby college students but the space is large, so noise level is appropriate for conversations. Klong in St Marks appears to have a superb deal for lunch. However, we were there for dinner. The place tends to close a little earlier than expected on Mondays, by about 15 min. We ordered the crispy Mango Fish and the chicken pad Kee mao. The crispy Mango Fish is a tad pricey and is listed among their "authentic dishes." I ended up liking it, and it is really filling as well. The fish is served with rice in the side. Rozena's pad Kee mao was a little disappointing. They might have gone a little overboard with ginger on that one. The best part were the flat noodles but we do wish we'd had the pad see ew rather.
