My apologies for the mix up!) I'm not big on eating breakfast, but when I do crave breakfast food I'm pretty picky. Probably because I used to work at a breakfast restaurant and know what to expect. Although my dining experience wasn't 100% perfect, this place really does deserve 5 stars. It's a little different here where you need to pay and then alert the cashier you would like to dine in. No wait to be seated since there were 2 tables still open. Cashier was very friendly, my receipt stated he was JrXR. He offered me sauteed veggies for my Mahi Benedict since I requested for a nonstarch side. They were out of hot green tea. So I requested for hot water instead. I was still charged for the price of a hot tea and was explained to me later that the charge on the receipt for hot tea was actually a charge for the requested hot water. I would've preferred a heads up that I was going to be charged the same price for hot tea although I requested only hot water. Our order consisted of a Veggie Omelette, Plain Crepe, Mahi Benedict, hot water, and a coffee. Food was on point as usual. Delicious, fresh, and arrived quickly. I really enjoyed my benedict and am happy they offer a Mahi version. Their "plain" crepes are anything, but plain. Texture has a pleasant chewiness, wonderful flavor on it's own, and amazing with just a dust of powdered sugar and a squeeze of fresh lemon. The only hiccup we experienced was that the staff forgot to give us the pancakes that came with the veggie omelette. This was easily fixed once we notified the cashier who came by to check on us. He promptly brought out our pancakes and apologized for the delay. I can also drink their hot coffee black since the coffee tastes good. Did I mention affordable prices? Many menu items under $10! So expect a wait during peak times. We were lucky to beat the rush. This is a small breakfast restaurant, but has the potential to go big! Used to be called Koa Cafe, not too sure why they changed their name... Food is the same, but bigger menu. I know I say I always get/try pancakes, BUT sometimes I like to get waffles. Lol. We got the guava lava mochi waffles and I would definitely get them again! They're sooo good, very sweet. I have a big sweet tooth so these waffles are my thing. They sure do NOT skimp out on the guava sauce (thumbs up emoji). My bf got the Koa moco. Best of both worlds because if someone is craving a loco moco, but also wanted corned beef hash, the Koa moco is 2 in 1! Great deal! Super delicious! And for me, I got my go to, which is the vinha d'alhos. It's a Portuguese dish, pickled (vinegar) pork, like pork adobo (that's probably why I like it so much. Hee hee). Haven't been here in such a long time. It brought back memories of my parents bringing me in to eat delicious pancakes and talk story. The food is filling for a cheap price. There is a good selection of breakfast items. I recommend anything with corn beef hash. Service here is 5/5. Very home style diner type. read more

Horrible! Made a phone order, they said it'll be ready in 10 mins. When I get there I waited patiently about 45 mins for my food, seems like they forgot about my order. When I checked on my order, it was waiting on the counter. No apologies from them, one of the cashiers had the audacity to say next time don't just wait, say something...umm you took my money, shouldn't your restaurant know who's waiting on their food? If I can be honest, I'm such a fatty. I mean, eating brings me a catharsis like few things do in my life. I know, I hate it. But also, I don't. And of all the food options, breakfast foods are far and away my go-to! So finding a spot that mimics my moms Sunday meals was a good send. But I love this Koa location, not just because of the food, which is to die for but also the manager. I can't recall his name off hand, and to be honest, I'm assuming he's the manager. But he hustles and makes sure to interact with everyone. He seems to run every facet of the front of house business. But he definitely is the essence that brings the warmth and aloha. But back to the food. For a house of pancakes style eatery, the food is top notch. Very flavorful. I always use the Denver omelette as a barometer. Chocked full of veggies, this order is the one that I choose when I want something filling. It's like my breakfast soul food. But if you really want something to hit the spot, the Koa Omelette is winnahs! The local classics are also worth trying and again, another namesake dish, the Koa Moco is ono but not for the faint of heart. It's a loco moco but before you top the burger with an egg, you rest a plump bed of corned beef hash AND THEN you lay the egg on it. Absolutely heavenly. And speaking of heavenly, few creations are as sublime as the virtually flawless pancakes. So good. I can never finish them all but I can't not order. And when you're morally obligated to order something outside of your means, you know it has to be good! Although it hasn't (and shouldn't ever have) taken over Sunday family breakfast, it is a fine substitute. So after church one day, give mom a break and check out Koa! If you're feeling adventurous, look for any of the dishes with the name in the title and have at it. You only live once, so you may as well do it on a full stomach! read more

Went here today to get something quick and easy, food took about 15mins to get here. But when we got it the lady with the dreads was quite rude when handing us our order. The food wasn't even hot and felt like it was just sitting in the front for a while. When we went up to her asking if she would be able to reheat the food, she gave us an attitude. Upon bringing back the food she just dropped it on our table and walked away. The restaurant itself seems pretty well kept up with. Just some of the staff aren't very friendly. read more

My buddy despises breakfast places like this because his deal is you can always make it for cheaper. I always tell him, sure, maybe you'll always have eggs and rice, but breakfast meats you might not always have in the fridge. And besides, unless it's a nice lazy Sunday brunch, I really don't like cooking first thing in the morning. I've gotten a bunch of stuff from here before, and even though I now live on the mainland, I still come here whenever I'm home. Fried rice, corned beef, waffles, all really good for a quick breakfast fix. It aint gourmet, but I don't think that's their goal here. And what takes the cake - online ordering! Sweet. Their strawberry whip cream pancakes with coconut syrup were so delicious and we still miss that syrup to this day:( It was the perfect amount of sweetness and the pancakes were so fluffy the breakfast plate was also super delicious and their fried rice was very very filling. Their portions are good enough to share, but are still fairly affordable! Cons- the breakfast plate was really good, but it was a little bit too heavy for breakfast; however, it might have been due to the fried rice. Food: We ordered the Butter Mochi Pancakes, Guava Lava Mochi Waffle, and Angry Korean. For just my boyfriend and me, we definitely went overload and bought too much food. It was honestly worth it, because the mochi really brings out the sweetness in the pancakes and waffle. The hint of guava in the waffle definitely helps it stand out from your typical waffle. It was delicious! I didn't really need any butter or syrup since the amount of sweetness was enough for me. The Angry Korean was the only dish we completed because of how amazing the galbi was! Between the Guava Waffle and Angry Korean, it was a delightful pair of sweet & savory. My advice is if you are going with you and a friend, just order 2 dishes, even if they all sound amazing! Location & Service: This restaurant is located close to the side of the mall. Great parking, and came here on a weekday morning, so it was empty. Twice we ordered their waffles and twice they undercooked it. Waffles are supposed to look like what their phots show, nice and dark golden brown, right? Nope. We get it WHITE! I first ordered two, which one is dark and the other was WHITE?! How can the same cook do losey work like that? Buys or not busy foods require a certain amount of time to cook correctly?! So I'm craving for waffles again and give them another chance and chuck it off as they busy. Well this time I ordered just one waffle. Lo and behold I drive all the way home to open the container and saw my waffles was WHITE AGAIN!!! I originally wanted to call to let the manager know, but you know people...they will call you a KAREN! Too me if you complain for no justified reason, ok...you a Karen. If you complaining and it's valid because WE ARE PAYING THEM to do a decent job required with some sort of quality and pride in cooking the best they can, then we not Karen's. We are sticking up for what we hard working people want to spend our monies on. By letting the manager know in a calm and professional manner, I feel I'm helping their restaurant establishment so they can ensure their cooks are cooking it to their standards so THEY CAN PROSPER and stay in business because many other workers working hard with integrity of the proper way to cook certain items with quality and for us customers to ensure we are paying for what they advertise. This is an excellent spot to grab a quick breakfast. It is very busy on Saturday and Sundays mornings so I would recommend getting there early. I live down the street, so on weekends, my partner and I will sometimes order breakfast to go and take it home. It is perfect for a lazy Sunday! The eggs and meat plate is a breakfast classic. You can get your eggs any style, pick between a variety of meat(bacon, sausage, etc), and pick a side( I would suggest the potato medley ). The waffles are delicious! I like ordering them with all of the toppings on the side. The waffle is cut into four pieces and is perfect for dipping into the sauce. The grave and coconut syrups are my favorite! Never been to this location. Never knew they were here. Very nice. Clean, not Crowded like the other locations. Food was brought out hot. A little to hot. But that's a good thing. Wife got buzzed by one fly. That was a bummer. But it was only her. Onion gravy on my hamburger didn't have skin, but I think it must have been the layer right under the skin. Hands down one of the best Chocolate Chip Pancakes I've ever tasted! Stopped by for breakfast for my son. I had the Bacon Spinach Omelette and that was so good! There were lots of bacon which surprised me and the egg was cooked on point. My son had the pancakes, also bacon and eggs. I'm not a pancake person but my son told me to try it. The pancakes were cooked perfect, fluffy and so tasty. The place was clean. There were a lot of people but still enough room for us to sit. I like that they have signs saying to "Order first and then sit." The employees were so nice and friendly. They brought out food over to us and all. Mahalo for the great food and service. read more

Came close the closing time and was surprised there was still people ordering. There was a new special item today and that was the chicken fried steak with gravy. It came with 2 eggs made tour way and one side which refers to the breakfast plate sides. So buttermilk pancakes, to fried rice and others to choose from. Depending on what side ,you'll be looking to add a dollar to 3 dollars. So I got my eggs over easy and got fried rice for an extra dollar for my side. We also ordered a breakfast plate that you make on your own. For step one you pick your meat so we got the corned beef hash. Step 2 is your egg style so we got overhard and last is your choice of sides, in which we chose butter mochi pancakes for an extra $1. Water is free there but they also have a fountain machine that carries many brands of juices and sodas. The food came out quick, and was delivered to our today by one of the workers. First came the breakfast plate and corned beef didn't look appetizing and the ends were pretty crisp. It didn't taste bad at all though. The pancakes looked good, it comes with whip on top and a side of butter. You can get syrup near the condiments station. The chicken fried steak with the gravy came shortly after and wow that's a plate that would make your mouth water and for the price of $8.95 you can't go wrong. The chicken went well with the gravy and the over easy over the fried rice just topped it off. Other than that the food was good, the corned beef hash could've been better but it filled the belly. This breakfast joint opens early at 6:30am. They have your typical breakfast foods such as pancakes, eggs, a variety of breakfast meats and a few specialty items like freshly squeezed orange juice and mochi waffle. I ordered the breakfast plate. You pick one choice of meat, style of egg and a starch. I ordered Portuguese sausage with scrambled egg and chocolate pancakes. I received 3 stacks of pancakes, eggs and 4-5 large size sausage pieces. I paid $10 for a good amount of food. I did pay an extra $1 for chocolate pancakes. The breakfast plate cost $8. I had went to koas with a friend and I ordered a burrito and a steak. The steak was supposed to be medium as I asked it to be. The first time it came out it was well done. I can understand the first time and I sent it back. The second time they gave me the steak, they said sorry and walked away. I cut open the steak and it was well done again. As always, the food here is excellent and for the price, you can't go wrong. What is starting to negate the positives about this establishment are the wait times. Calling your order in is futile as we've tried many many times and on the rare occasion that we've gotten through and actually placed our order online, when we went to pick it up, something always is wrong with the order. The last straw was when I went to pick up my order on October 31 and they didn't even have the order. Huh? So they literally took my order at 10:39 am and told me that it would be ready at 12:10 PM. Are you freaking kidding me????? First you lose my order and then proceed to tell me that I have to wait an additional hour and half for them to make my order? I don't think so. The food is delicious and the portion is large and you definitely get your bodies worth it and for the pancake it's better to order the large size because it's only several dollars more and you get one for your money. The service is so friendly there's a lot of people in there and the tables are usually all filled up and there's a lot of employees behind the counter in a very small counter with so many employees but they all work diligently trying to get orders out attending to the customers for those that sitting down, eating care for those that, stabbing in line, waiting to order the area He's also nice and clean with perfect temperature in air conditioning and I like some restaurants it smells like kitchen smoke but this restaurant does not have that smell and the ventilation system is great. Dispatch has become our go to at least three times a week because the pancake and the Koa burrito is just so delicious. read more

Walked around Ka Makani Alii mall and decided to have lunch at Koa Pancake House. The food prices are very reasonable and I don't think I can recall any other places this reasonable, Koa Pancake House is cheaper than Zippy's and food was well portioned and tasty. We had the clubhouse sandwich with fried potatoes and mahi sandwich with mac salad for around $14 tax included. If you dine in they check for covid vaccine and bring your meal to your table. Friendly service. Place is clean and they even have an indoor air purifier running. read more

I don't understand why there are so many poor reviews for this place! Unless everyone else had a horrible experience, ours was great! Customer service was excellent as we were greet upon entering and we helped a lot as this was out first time here. Looking at the menu, it has greatly changed with additional new items conpared to when they first opened. As we decided what to order, the cashier helped us by answering our questions and giving us suggestions! And also was very patient. As for their drinks, i loved their selection. Other thab the typical breakfast drinks they have freshly squeezed orange juice that you can clearly see on their counter and for coffee they have a wide selection in which you can get both HOT or Cold/ICED which is a plus for an iced coffee lover! Their OJ. Is bomb! A bit pricey but I am VERY picky when it comes to oj. However, their freshly squeezed oj tasted as if i was taking a fresh bit out of an orange slice! So ono!!! For food I got the crois-Omelette and my boyfriend had the crab eggs benedict. Both were DELICIOUS! Tasted fresh and hot. Besides typical breakfast sides they have their own take of potatos. Very good and i have to say dont judge it till you try it. Only thing i would suggest, is for the restaurant to have stands for their table numbers. This was my first time here. It was fairly clean, although we wiped down our own table (no fault of anyone, we just got the table as the previous people were leaving). There at up is pretty self explanatory, ordered, sat down and eat. The young lady that took our order, I wish I knew her name, she was extremely helpful, welcoming and pleasant. I tried the burger mochi pancakes, it was delicious, just as my awesome server with the long braid explained. We also had medley potatoes, that was ok for me....lol. Koa Pancake House always has solid food if you want a modern local take on breakfast fare. The KMA location, like the others, is busy. With COVID, it didn't look busy, to be honest... the tables inside were socially distanced (maybe 5 tables?) and not all tables were occupied. A few parties waited outside on benches. But keep in mind that KPH takes phone orders and online orders, so even if there aren't many people, the back is jamming. Patience is key. Also keep in mind that the phones are off the hook, so you may or may not be able to order by phone. (I was not able to.) The portion sizes are huge, so don't feel too compelled to order a breakfast plate. I got the "Fried Rice One Egg" small plate (with Portuguese sausage) and it came in one large-size styrofoam take out plate. My dad ordered a breakfast plate and it came in two large-size styrofoam take out plates. My breakfast tasted great. The fried rice, eggs, and Portuguese sausage were all cooked to my liking. Pro-tip: the fried rice and eggs go exceptionally well with a spoonful of Lao Gan Ma spicy chili crisp (is not sold or made available by KPH--go Chinatown or H-Mart to buy a jar). read more

When I'm craving eggs Benedict I typically get it from Koa pancake house but this location I will never go back to. I tried it 2 or 3 times now and it hasn't gotten any better. It comes with this weird piece of single lettuce, 1 slice of old tomato, unflavored/ seasoned/burnt/undercooked/unevenly chopped potatoes, and soggy English muffins because they drown it in hollandaise sauce. I always order the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes and they never seem to cook it through?! It's always raw tasting and inedible. Service is spotty. Sometimes they have our food ready on time other times there's a wait which would be fine if the food tasted good. I like how close to home this particular location is for me. From the outside it looks nice. Lots of parking. No I don't recommend this place and no I wouldn't come back to this location. I do however recommend going to waipahu, or the other kapolei location near the ups. read more

Who knew galbi, kimchi and eggs benny could make such an amazing combination! Food: The angry Korean was a game changer. This place took eggs benedict to another level. The dish was kalbi and kimchi tossed with sriracha hollandaise. The flavors all went together and it blew my taste buds away. Hands down best creation ever for someone who loves Korean BBQ! We also order the butter mochi pancake and guava lava mochi waffle. Both of them are sweet but the combination of the two made it worth the sweetness. If you are a pancake lover or waffle lover, I highly recommend the pancake and waffles choices. Ambiance: Located on the outskirts of the shopping plaza, it has a nice cafe feeling to it. I love the signage that states, "you've got to be yolking." It brings out a little hipster vibe to it. I do not understand why this place is rated four stars. In my own take, the place is definitely five stars. Koa Cafe takes the creativity for eggs benny to a whole another level. Roaches!! I come often the food is always good, hot and quick if they aren't too busy. For my drink I ordered the small fresh squeezed OJ. It had a baby roach in it. Where there is one baby there are many! I told the staff. She didn't act surprised or anything. Her remedy was to bring me a large OJ! Why would I want another OJ from the machine that produced a roach into my cup?!? They should have shut the machine down. Management should have talked to us at the least. I left thinking this must be normal to have roaches or bugs in the food and not shocking for the staff. Be aware and look at your OJ and food before eating! read more
