This place is easy to miss and is very small w only a few tables. Dont let that fool you. The food is great. I had the chicken shish and the Turkish coffee (dont let that fool you also, small cup, huge caffeine boost) Food came at an appropriate time, it was cooked as I got there, so, if you are in a rush, go to a fast food place. Like Brian B, we were looking for a new place near us, and came across Kobee Factory in Yelp. Small (maybe 6 or 7 tables), very clean, and we were greeted by Wafa, the welcoming and warm owner of this restaurant opened 13 months ago. Wafa patiently educated us on Syrian food. Although we have eaten Middle Eastern food many times, I was unfamiliar with Kobee. It is a Syrian staple made with ground beef, etc. stuffed into a bun, and prepared 3 different ways. I opted for the BBQ Kobee, not spicy. Sam ordered a combo of chicken and beef kabob. Also ordered a small lentil soup to split. I told Wafa that we have been going to another similar restaurant on Woodman Ave for years. She said they have very good food (plus for her honesty), and wanted us to compare her food. First up the soup, which was sooo good, and fried chips, yummy. I watched her oversee the cooking very closely, and then she served the main dishes. My plate contained 3 of the buns, hummus, a cucumber and yogurt salad, pickeled beets and cucumber (pickel). Sam's dish had 3 pcs of chicken, 1 kabob, rice, hummus and the veggies. We tasted each others, and I have to tell the truth... each item was delicious, fresh, seasoned perfectly and served with a smile. The hummus may be the best I have ever eaten, and I've eaten it everywhere I go. The chicken, I avoid because it is usually dry and bland, was moist and tender. The BBQ Kobee had a slight kick, which made me pleased that I didn't order it spicy and I so enjoyed it. We enjoyed every item served, was made to feel at home by Wafa, and we look forward to returning soon. I asked her about her catering, and her description got us to thinking of when we can have her cater a gathering, and we look forward to that. I am very picky about what I eat... I have no patience for mediocre preparation, quality of ingredients and/or service. I don't hesitate to recommend Kobee Factory to any and all. You will not regret how you will feel, and what you ingest. A real win-win, and Wafa is such a nice lady. What more could you want? read more

Very modest restaurant belies the magic that lies inside. But let's skip to the chase. How is the food? Fantastic. How is the service? Friendly and fantastic. Should you eat here? Absolutely. We had the kobee, two versions, the fried and the barbecue. Two different versions of awesome. The hummus was nice and smooth and creamy. I had a yogurt drink, freshly made, which was delicious. And the baklava, which is made there, was not too sweet. I like some other versions of baklava better, but this was still all good. But the stand-out was the kobee and the family-friendly service, as if you are in the living room of a warm, friendly person's home. You can be really sure that we will be back. I visited this place right after I finished being part of Let's Make A Deal. It's only about 10 minutes away! We came here directed here by Jonathan Gold's reviews and met Nermeen, who was happy to explain everything to us. Owned by a Syrian family, this place serves what most people would call "Mediterranean food." The food consisted of ingredients like ground beef, garbanzo, pickled turnips, olive oil, garlic, rice, lemon, mint, pistachios, and honey- A whole symphony of Middle Eastern flavors. I recognized some of the dishes like Falafel and Hummus. Others were spelled differently like Kobee (also known as Kibbeh). Still others sounded familiar, but looked different- like the baklava. When we asked Nermeen how this was unique to food in its neighboring countries, she said the Kobee, a lemon shaped meat pie, is served fried or pan seared. The fried one was my favorite- with only a thin layer of dough stuffed with juicy ground meat, pungent from lovely spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove, and pine nuts added for a buttery crunch. The seared one was more doughy, like a piroshki, and the meat was medium spicy hot. She also mentioned that the Shawarma is sautéed and fried for extra flavor. The Baklava is rolled with pistachios and walnuts, instead of cut into little squares. When you bite into it, it smells like rosewater and tastes like cinnamon apple pie. The falafels were the best I'd ever had (I've only tried them in the US). They were smoother, less grainy on the inside, and best of all had a satisfying airy crunch you could hear with each bite. The inside is white not green, and smells like curry. Jonathan was right on the money with this one! The place is small but clean, has excellent service and delicious food. I cannot recommend this place anymore than I have already to others in my circle. This is a little hole in the wall place next to a gas station and liquor store but don't let the simple exterior fool you. They have amazing quality of food. Homemade quality with the meat cooked and seasoned well. I love their chicken kabob plate. They're not stingy with the servings like other places can be. They give you pita bread with your hummus w/o extra charge so I already love them for that. Every time I go in, the workers are very friendly and willing to answer my questions if I'm confused on what I'm ordering. This is a total hole in the wall. Also don't forget the place closes at 8. But the food...oh so delicious. I couldn't try the beef kobee because I don't eat red meat. So I tried the veggie one. (You can just try one if you don't want to order the whole meal.) Delish and very different. Also tried the baba ghanoush and hummus. Both good but loved the roasted Smokey flavor of the baba ghanoush. Ordered the mjadara for the main entree- The lentils came with hummus and you can have a regular salad or yogurt and cucumber salad. I ordered the latter. Really tasty and delicious. Amazing Lebanese food! *Chicken kabob plate - large chunks of juicy chicken with rice pilaf, salad and hummus. The hummus is SO creamy and smooth! *Kobee - I prefer the BBQ version over fried, but I would say the fried has more flavor in general (probably from the oil lol). The texture resembles a falafel but it's made of ground beef. It's so good and I highly recommend trying it *Stuffed lamb intestine - a specialty! I think it's filled with rice. The portion is HUGE. I can't imagine anyone finishing it at once. It doesn't look appetizing, but it's so flavorful. The owner (?) came to us and made sure we liked it, hah! Service is good (brought out waters quickly) and if you need help with recommendations, they'll take the time and ask you what you like, etc. There's limited parking in front, but we had no issue finding a few spots on a Sunday for lunch and otherwise, just street parking. read more

Got their chicken shawarma wrap and it's a game changer. It's double wrapped in tortilla and pita then crispy toasted to perfection. The pickled veggies balanced perfectly with the savory meat and heavenly sauce. Also tried a fried kobee - really interesting but I should have grabbed a dipping sauce. Want to go back and try other menu items but it'll be tough to branch out knowing that shawarma is back there being delicious. It's tucked away in a small shopping strip next to a liquor store on the corner of Oxnard. Loved the hospitality and food that the owner prepares and cooks herself. Hidden little gem in Van Nuys! If you're a kabob freak like me, then you should venture out to this place. They offer Syrian style kabobs and plates. I ordered the chicken breast kabobs with salad & humus. I opted for no rice and extra salad which makes a great lunch plate. Prices are good and mot items are under $10. Everything here is fresh and lovingly prepared--even simple things like their hummus and salad are above the competition. This is one of my top 5 places for Arab food in the world, well considering Europe, US and mexico only so 1/4 of the world. But still !this hidden gem in Van Nuys is worth the trip. Wafa and her team served us the best Kobee's ever. We ordered them spicy and grilled (never had them grilled) crispy on the outside and moist and crumbly inside!
