BEST KIMCHI JJIGAE! I'm pretty much a Korean food nut, with a weakness for Kimchi Jjigae. I travel a lot, and always seek out the local Korean spots and try their kimchi jjigae. I have to say, that of all the places I've been, from San Francisco and L.A. to Minneapolis, New Orleans, and Atlanta, KoFoo has hands down the best kimchi jjigae. A+++++!!! The kimchi is really good, just the right amount of spice to make the flavor perfect. I'm actually writing this review as I'm about to head over there to pick some up now. Other stand-outs would be the kimchi pancake, kimchi fried rice, and the bibimbap. The place is tucked in the back of a deli, so you almost don't even know it's there. (The seating area isn't the best so I usually get take-out.) P.S. the kimchi jjigae takes a little longer since they make it all fresh, so I usually pre-order and then pick it up. read more

I found Kofoo on Seamless, and it appears to be the new location of Kofoo Korean Rice Bar (previously on 8th Ave between 26th and 27th). I never visited the old location, but it looks like it moved inside of a deli on 23rd St. I almost passed it while I was walking to pick-up my order. Just walk all the way to the back. My food, Jae Yook Bo Keum, was hearty, spicy, and steaming hot! It was really delicious as my quick "before class" meal. I ordered on Seamless for pick-up, and by the time I got there 10 or 15 minutes later, it was all ready for me to go. It had great flavor, and I almost couldn't finish the portion! I got the ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes with fish cake slices, veggies (mostly cabbage and kimchi remnants), and a boiled egg), and while it was well portioned for a $8.71 meal (also comes with a small dish of kimchi), it didn't taste that flavorful. Maybe I'm just used to ddukbokki tasting spicier and sweeter (?) elsewhere. I ended up getting tired of eating it after a few bites. But, I'll definitely be back to try the other menu items when in Chelsea. The kimbap looks really good! And everything is about $8.50 on the menu-- so pretty average for lunch in the city. I came in around 1:30pm, which I thought would be prime lunch hour, but it wasn't too busy and there was constantly a table or two available for sit down (they have about seven mini-tables with two chairs each). Also, the ladies working the counter seemed genuinely friendly. The cashier kept trying to sell me on other items, but not in a sleazy or off-putting manner. This place is awesome. The price and the portions are as same or larger than regular Korean food up in ktown. My favorite is the budae jjigae (army stew), it tastes exactly the same as how my grandma and uncle makes! I get it whenever I miss Korean food and want to be in budget. The portions are very generous that I manage to make it 2 meals (Can never finish the whole thing). They are quick and friendly. I will always be their customer. read more

Solid lunch spot - I work a block away and usually come here when I want Korean food since K-town is still too far away. It is a bit difficult to find since it's at the back of a deli and not it's own restaurant. I've had the budaejigae and galbitang here. Both are pretty solid and reasonably priced. I do wish that they had more options but it is a small space they have. Additionally, I wish they gave more banchan rather than a small container of kimchi. But overall, I highly recommend this spot for a quick lunch takeout. read more

I'm not actually sure if the deli part of KoFoo is actually a part of KoFoo or if it's called something different. I've been stopping here for years and have never been able to figure it out. Anyways - going off of my experiences in the deli part specifically it is SO solid. I get a simple bagel and cc here in the mornings and it's always so yummy. People at work are always like, "oh where'd you get that it looks so good." And I always like to enlighten them on the magic that is KoFoo (or the deli inside KoFoo). I also have to recommend their make your own pasta at lunch time. They have Alfredo, vodka sauce, red sauce, lots of different noodle types, and a ton of veggies to make the most perfectly yummy pasta creations. The meat and veggies were overcooked, the sauces were disgustingly oily, the rice cakes were also overcooked. I don't know what oil they used for the jap chae and yaki udon, but it was gross. However, the food...not so good. I ordered beef bulgogi...my favorite Korean dish. It did not have the delicious flavor I've come to love from this dish and the portion was pretty small for what I paid. The fried vegetable dumplings actually tasted like burnt cigarettes. This was pretty decent Korean food, and the delivery was pretty quick (half an hour from hitting submit on seamless is speedy). I got the Kalbi Tang and the Bulgogi Kim bap. Both were pretty good. This is a hidden no-frills Korean restaurant in the Flatiron area. The kimchi fried rice here is the BEST! They give you a big portion and it's always delicious. Bulgogi bibimbap here is pretty good as well compared to other Korean restaurants. FYI - Orders do take awhile to make so be prepared to wait. read more

Since this is closest Korean food place from my work I had to try. Ordered Bulgogi kimbob and Udon. I didn't check the price first and bit surprised when I got charged over $16. Normally I could get this combo 5 bucks less from Flushing but well guess everything is expensive in city... I liked the food. It seems and taste like real korean made and portion was good enough for the price. I love have some soup with kimbob so next time i will go with mini udon which is much cheaper and prolly perfect size. read more

This is a review for delivery. I ordered the Buddae Jiggae and the jalapeño kimbap. As much as I'd love to say that I put all that food down in one go, really I just had to order two dishes to meet the $15 minimum. Because I ball like that. The delivery was fast, my soup arrived bubbling hot, and my drink was cold. The kimbap was a little warm, but that's to be expected after spending a short ride nestled up against that hot soup. Nothing 5 minutes in the fridge can't fix. Did the meal blow my mind? No. But is it the best Korean takeout I've ever had in this area? Hell yes. I love bulgogi beef and it is quite good here. The place is hidden in the back of a generic NYC deli and seating isn't that great but who cares... the food is yummy. Came across this place yesterday. Was greeted by this friendly man who escorted my daughter and I down to our seats. The service was excellent. People weren't staring at me like I have two heads since I'm a black woman which sometimes I experience unfortunately when eating out. I was treated with the same respect as everyone else. WORST FOOD POISONING OF MY LIFE FROM THIS PLACE. Holy cow, I don't know where to begin. I've been dying for nearly two days after eating breakfast here with a few friends. The food seemed a little sketchy as my friends ordered omelettes and all ingredients are precut, thrown into a bowl and sloshed around with some already prepped eggs and thrown into pans. But whatever, I've eaten my fair share of glorified bodega breakfasts with no problems in the past. Within a few hours, we were all dying.
