We decided to try this place after driving past this place many times and this place did not disappoint. Now we only tried the items we saw on here that were popular: The Signature Dumplings, the Soup Dumplings and the braised pork. The dumplings were so good and the sauce the came with them too added so much more flavor. Out of the dumplings I think I liked the soup dumplings more but the signature are signature for a reason. The dumpling was too doughy with little to no juice at all in the dumplings. Next, the pie was good but they didn't provide any dipping sauce. As someone who has traveled and lived in China for 4+ years, this place has dishes that hits close to home. When I come in for a late lunch, I can see the staff and chefs treat each other like "family" and they make and eat the food they serve which is a testament to the freshness of their ingredients and how they view food. Service is great and reflects the type of service you'd normally see in China, they are attentive but they will not come bother you every 5-10 minutes to see if you are enjoying the food like every other restaurant. It's a cultural thing to give customers the space to enjoy and have conversations. So it's not that they don't care, they are trying to be respectful of your space and if you wave them down they will be more than happy to take care of your needs. I've tried almost everything on the menu at this point and the quality of the food is amazing compared to other restaurants with similar or cheaper pricing. It's a must try! P.S. Cash is king. They weren't spicy enough for me so I added some of their chili oil at every table which made them even better! The beef house noodle soup was amazing. The noodles tasted and felt fresh. The best Chinese food in the valley! Funny enough that we came here to try the xiao long bao but ended up being obsessed with the rest of the menu. Don't sleep on the stir fried cabbage, such a simple dish but ridiculously delicious. Mapo tofu, the sweet pork with the best and chewiest yet crunchy breading that soaks up the sweet ginger sauce, tomato and egg noodle soup (their base broth is so good and it's just a nice comforting bowl of noodle soup), another simple dish executed very well), eggplant with ground pork, and beef dry pot are some of our favorites. So disappointed in the service we received today . we walked in on Mother's Day waiting for a table. The lady told us she'll seat us in a min . another party walked in after us. It looks like they checked in on an iPad. The lady never told us to do that , she said she would seat us in a second . This place is amazing, literally everything we've tried has been good, with quite a few standouts. My wife loves the Big Bowl of Wontons, with the very delicate flavor of seaweed. The dry pots are fantastic, using the Schetzwan peppercorns that make your mouth numb without substantial heat. All the dumplings are top notch, and the Guo Bao Pork is like pork candy, with an amazing ginger citrus sweet and sour sauce. The wood ear salad and seaweed with garlic salad appetizers are inspired in deep flavor and texture, going extremely well with the dry pot. Overall 3.5 stars for some food items to return for, but some that are misses. Kofu Dumpling House is located in a spacious plaza with plenty of parking everywhere. It'll be easy to find parking no matter what time you go. You'll be greeted at the door with friendly service and shown your table. They can accommodate medium sized groups. Most of their tables are the standard rectangular ones, but they do have a few in the back that are round with the lazy susan in the center for easier sharing of dishes. One of their most popular items is their red chili wontons. This is something my partner and I do return for specifically. You get a decent amount of wontons in a red chili sauce. The sauce isn't as initially spicy, but the heat can build as you continue eating. This is great for sharing or just eating for yourself. Some other items that are also solid are their smoked pork pancakes and their braised pork belly. The smoked pork pancakes need to be self-assembled where you build your bite with a crispy fried pancake (think scallion pancake without the scallions), some slices of smoked pork (this is served cold like charcuterie), slivers of green onion, and thick black soybean paste. The paste can be salty and strong, so go easy on that! The braised pork belly dish is very tender and you're given a very generous amount. It can easily be shared or taken home for leftovers. Personally, none of my friends, family, and I are a fan of their buns. Their style of buns is very dough heavy, which is a bit of imbalance with the fillings inside. I also am still looking for a new hand pulled noodle place as some of my beloved spots have closed. Although they advertise making their own noodles, I would say their noodle dishes do not stand out in terms of the rest of the components with the sauce. They are a skip. Although my partner and I would return for some of the above mentioned food items, we also feel that there are other parts of the menu that are not done as well, so you do have to be mindful when ordering. read more

3/1/25: Short version - stopped in for a late lunch this particular Saturday, it was already pretty dang busy. The food was decent, as was the service, but not sure we would go back. But that's mostly because my taste buds limit what I eat. I don't eat seafood and am exceptionally picky about what veggies I eat. That means my opinion of foods at certain ethnic-diverse restaurants should be taken with a grain of salt. :-) Longer version - do not sweat the parking. It's a huge lot. Despite the early crowd, we were seated quickly, and given a carafe of water. The woman came back quickly & took our order: guo bao pork, braised pork belly, chicken & mushroom dumplings, and a couple of Cokes. Despite the crowd, the interior was pretty clean (I didn't see any food on the floor), and the staff cleaned off the tables quickly. Unfortunately, I saw a lot of food being tossed in the garbage. I will never understand people not taking home their leftovers. I also so a ton of plastic going in the trash (plastic cups), which is one reason we likely won't return: waste. I wish more restaurants would compost and recycle. I digress. We emptied our water carafe and it was taken away. Never to be refilled & returned. Maybe they were short on water ... ? The food arrived and the gentleman who delivered it was polite enough to ask if we needed forks. I answered yes because if I attempted eating with chopsticks we would have been there for hours. Ha! The guo bao pork reminded me of funnel cakes: its deep-fried formations were very squiqqly, almost a work of art. It was steaming hot and tasted good. I only wish there was more sauce to help cover the rice. The dumplings were also steaming and tasty. My sister enjoyed her braised pork belly but said she liked my guo bao better. No one returned to our table to inquire about the food, ask if we wanted more water, or more food. The guy only came back to give us the check. At which time we ordered the smoke pork pancakes. To be honest, I was not impressed. The black stuff was too salty, the pork was cold (maybe that's normal, I don't know); I would have been fine with just the pancakes. They were greasy, but light, flakey, and good. So. It was an okay experience, however, because of the plastic waste, no one returning to our table to check on us, $2 for a can of Coke, and no refills of water, there is no reason for us to return. A brand new restaurant! It was not communicated to us that we order on the QR code app, we were just waiting for a server to come take our order till we figured it out. After we ordered, we learned many of the veg dumplings/options were not available. It was not near closing time yet but our vegan friends didn't experience any dumplings. :( overall the dumplings were good, but the other dishes were very very oily. There was so much oil.. but still it was good. I had to tab some out on my plate or napkin . The noodle dishes were fresh and wonderful! read more

Walk in and wait behind the large order screen to be seated ( I believe the screen is for orders placed for take out in the restaurant). We waited maybe 5 minutes on a Thursday night at 6:30pm to be seated for 3 people. Server took a little while to come to us to order, but we did get water very quickly! I think you can order through QR code at the table, but as soon as we started to check that out the waiter came by. We ordered 3 apps (cucumber salad, ox tail & beef, and pig ears). These are all COLD and arrive on ONE PLATE. Nobody told us the apps would be piled on top of each other, so we sat waiting for the rest to come out for a bit until that was clarified. The cucumbers were okay, the pig ears were just a texture thing - nobody really liked them (I thought they were going to be fried). The oxtail and beef was really good. The signature buns kind of fell apart while you ate them and were hard to keep the filling inside. I've had better buns. The mongolian beef was not hot at all (despite having the one chili symbol next to it). However, it was amazing! The chili dumplings were not spicy at all, either. They were actually slightly sweet. These also fell apart and were boiled to the point you couldn't really pick them up with chopsticks. However, they tasted really good - just wanted them to be spicy! Not pictured, we ordered the beef noodle soup and received a large pot of complimentary white rice. Both were great! One friend thought there was too much 5 spice seasoning in the soup broth, but the other two of us loved it. OVERALL: Would reorder the mongolian beef entree and oxtail & beef app. Would not reorder the signature buns or the pig ears app. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu! SERVICE: If you are a needy guest, you will suffer if it's busy or moderately busy. I've been looking for a hand made noodle place since Nan Zouh went out of business... Entry Kofu! So good I went 2 days in a row. You can taste the freshness in the food. No heavy sauces just fresh clean ingredients! We had the Beef Tongue in spicy chili oil, spicy wontons in chili oil, signature dumplings, spicy garlic noodles, and crispy spicy chicken..... so damn good. Light, fresh and you can taste every ingredient... Service is quick and friendly. As we were leaving yesterday at back table it looked like a few employees (maybe the owner ) were enjoying a bite. I feel very very bad for the owner...so much money invested into great food but very poor customer service. You have to hire people who speak English well enough to communicate with their customers. Your workers have to understand the menu of the restaurant to provide recommendations...kinda hard when there is a huge language barrier amongst all employees here. We ordered a bunch of food and everything came out in weird time frames. The dumplings came out after we finished all of the main dishes which is strange...all of the Chinese restaurants I have been to in the past bring that out first. There was even an Asian woman who was sitting right next to us who was upset as well and was yelling at the employee in their native language. Please...please...please step into Din Tai Fung a restaurant out of California who is in the process of opening up a restaurant here in scottsdale soon ...learn how they run their business. Good service, ambiance neutral. About the food: After spending 8 years in Taiwan and visiting many times in mainland China, food is o-k. I do feel food needs more flavor/seasoning. We ordered a Kung Pao chicken and dish was visually appealing but too much peanuts that were not optimally roasted, I could say almost raw. The Leptin of the peanuts were more dominant than the chicken pieces that in fact did not taste like chicken. Mongolian beef was the only one tasty and flavorful. Was excited to try out this place but left very disappointed. We ordered the steamed buns, fried crisp pork and sauerkraut lamb. The buns were served uncooked with still raw meat inside. We asked the server to take it back to the kitchen and had to wait a long while. The sauerkraut lamb tasted ok but there were only ~ 6pieces of lamb, for $17 it felt like a rip off. The fried crisp work is the only reason that I gave this place two stars. It tasted pretty good with decent portions. The buns were finally served to us again after a long wait and as a native Chinese who has had very good buns before, this is not it. Good buns are supposed to have thin dough and large fillings, the buns we had here were the completely opposite. The dough was very thick and rough and the fillings were very small.
