The service was terrible. First, my order was late coming out because the cook dropped it. That was okay, because accidents do happen. However, when my order came out, it was wrong. This is my favorite Korean place in Tucson. The two women here are the sweetest and the food tastes so delicious! I'm very picky with my Asian cuisine. Having been spoiled from living in Hawaii and California, I know good Korean food. I hope this little restaurant does well because I need to come here on a regular basis. The food is prepared with care, prices reasonable, and the service makes you feel warm inside. My last visit I ordered the Bulgogi Bibimbap (as did my friend), but I had to order more food to go! We so happen to come across this restaurant on yelp when we were craving some asian food and we were so thankful we tried it! This is going to be our go-to korean restaurant in Tucson now. Here's what we ordered: -Bibim naeng myun (spicy cold noodle) -Kalbi -Haemul pajun (seafood pancake) -Kimchi bokum (kimchi pork stir fry) The cold noodle dish was on point; we were thoroughly impressed with the flavor and it reminded us of our favorite cold noodle dish we had in California. We will definitely be coming back again and again for this dish, especially since it tastes soooo good on hot summer days. The kalbi and the seafood pancake were our next two favorites. The kalbi was marinated very well and was extremely flavorful. For the korean seafood pancake, we liked how this style of pancake wasn't oily and was different from others we had tried in the past. What was really nice was how the waitress also brought out a korean kimchi pancake before the meal, which was very delicious. We will be coming back again soon and are eager to try more dishes off the menu. I'm sure we will find many more we enjoy!! read more

My go-to place for Korean food in town. Best way to describe their food is that it's like home-cooked Korean food, and they cook it the same way every time. Consistency is great, never surprised. Peaceful, hole-in-the-wall place to have a quiet, satisfying Korean meal. Great choice in background-sitting music for the ambience (it's NOT kpop). You'll have to actively get the attention of the wait staff to get extra banchan since they typically only have one person waiting tables. I went with my close friend to try out Korean food. (Shes never eaten it before). We had arrived at the last hour before they closed. The restaurant is very small, tables were all taken up, and we spent well over 30 minutes waiting. Staff was very nice and gave us complementary potstickers. They were very quick to getting our orders; food came out fast. Now, the kimbap was delicious. For $5 they give you 7-8 pieces which is pretty good. The cold bean noodles were excellent, although when I requested it, they came out warm. My friend ordered a chicken yakisoba, $11. Serving size is a moderate amount that I would say is very filling. I ordered ddeobokki for my entree, and had asked for no onions. It must've been a rough day for the kitchen;, I got the spicy rice cakes with onions :o Overall the meal was delicious and I'll be back. Staff remained courteous and stayed on top of their service. Kogi is a terrific Korean restaurant! Located in the previous sight of Seoul Kitchen, we love their food. They've only been open less than 2 weeks, and have been trying to redo the interior while also getting the restaurant started. The interior now sports bright colors and the waitress, who is part of the ownership, was with Seoul Kitchen for 8 years! Owned and operated by a very talented Korean family, their menu is very diverse and their cooking skills are right on. Even though we miss Seoul Kitchen, we are so happy to have KOGI close to us. This is a new Korean restaurant that replaced Seoul Kitchen. I am not sure if there's a relationship with the owners of this establishment and the prior restaurant. I took my 3 kids to Kogi and they all thought it was very good. We had bindaeduk, the mung bean pancake with kimchi, as a starter. There was a mistake because I had only ordered one appetizer but we got the haemul pajeon, seafood scallion pancake, also. My kids really liked the latter so I didn't complain. For dinner we had kalbi, beef short ribs, chicken bulgogi, pork bulgogi, and jabchae, stir fried sweet potato noodles. I am of Korean descent so my own opinion of the food is lower than the opinions of my kids who haven't had the same upbringing in a traditional Korean household. I thought the food was ok--just not the best I have had. For a non Korean it was probably tasty but I feel I can make much better food myself. I know my own jabchae is better--I made some recently and it was much more authentic in my opinion. I found the side dishes, banchan, a bit lacking and I really did not like the toasted seaweed although 1 of my kids really liked it and only 1 other felt it tasted weird. It's not a bad place but could be better. 3 stars from someone who is Korean and has lived in Korea. read more

Worst f*cking meal I ever paid for. I ordered a shrimp dish and a soda. After a little bit I got a small cup of broth that was pretty good. Then I got a small cup of warm rice and four small cups of veggies. So far, so good. Then I waited for the shrimp. And I waited. Waited some more. The rice had cooled off. I had no utensels, so I said the heck with it. I took the veggies and crammed them into the small bowl of cold rice and tried to eat the stuff. Not at all satisfying and still no shrimp. After 25 minutes, I cashed out and wrote off the experience as a $21 mistake. read more

My husband and I were regular customers, we even celebrated his birthday there the last two years. We first tried to order on a Saturday but the restaurant closed hours early with no sign in the window, so we waited until Sunday. We ordered koroke, spicy wings, shumi, kimchi bindae deok, and hot dduk, all to go. We went home and because of how the food was packaged, everything was awful. The dumplings were so slimy, one of them had disintegrated into a pile of goo. The wings were not crisp and were tough, the pancake was rubber, and the dduk was so chewy I choked on a piece. We saved the items and called Tuesday (they were closed Monday). When we expressed our concerns, We were told that we should have ordered fried dumplings instead of steamed. That's it. As I used to own a small business myself, I understand that the customer is not always right, in fact some customers are downright awful, but considering that we have even helped clear tables when they were busy (and short-staffed), and always tipped extremely generously, we were anticipating an opportunity to get our food replaced. But no. Good bye Kogi, Takamatsu will get our money from now on. read more

We ordered squid pork belly stir fry and 2 soup(soybean, tofu). Portion was super small(I still cannot believe I paid almost 15$ on entree) and there was nothing to eat in soup. I am from Washington State and this is the best Korean bbq I've had since I moved here. I had the Kalbi Bibimbap, the Kalbi tasted like it was marinated for a long time and was perfect. The customer service was amazing as well. The lady that served us was very polite and made sure we liked our food and if we didn't she offered to make something else. We went there for a nice lunch and were not disappointed. The food there was so tasty! Everything we ate was as good as it can be. I had the Bulogi Beef and my wife had the Kalbi beef ribs with white rice and Miso soup. I am alergic to onions and it was no problem getting that left off. The service was great and our waitress took the time to explain the differences between the dishes. It was not cheap to eat there, but worth every penny. We will be back. read more

This is one of the worst korean restaurant. I am a Korean, and I probably can cook way better than they do. We ordered Soondaeguk and GamjaTang. For the Soondaeguk, they used frozen Soondae and used msg, which is fine, but Soondae was not in right shape, it scattered all over the place in the soup. And it was very salty. For the GamjaTang, Gamja (potato) was not fully cooked. Meat was tough to chew. Most of all, the side dish was terrible. It looked like the owner re-used the side dish. The fishcake came out with Kimchi paste. People should not go to this restaurant. And the owner should not work in restaurant business. WON'T GO THERE, and DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner here. I had the fried dumplings (gyoza) and they were absolutely spectacular - perhaps the best I have ever had. The bulgogi on rice cake was very tasty, a bit light on the portion of beef, but very good. The rice cake is really a solid tube of rice cut into 1.5 inch cylinders, interesting, but not a major addition to the dish except to give it bulk. When I finished my plate, but left some of the rice cake tubes on the plate, the very pleasant waitress asked if I did not like them. She beamed when I explained that I liked them very much but I restrict my intake of carbs. The side dishes with the main dish were pleasant, but the smallest I have seen with a Korean meal. I supposed I could have asked for more, but I did not. The prices are quite reasonable, so just order one more dish than you think you'll need and you will have a lovely meal in this simple, pleasant and high quality restaurant. Thanks, Yelp Community.
