I've been to this place 10000 times, their ha gow and siu mai is super tasty and flavorful, the only thing it lacks is size. Their chicken feet, is steamed very very well so it's not hard and stuck on the bone. (VERY GOOD, SOO SOO GOOD). If you're a durian fan.....YOU HAVE TO GET THE DURIAN PUFF.~~ the amount of durian, sweetness, and flakiness of the whole pastry is to DIE for. Went for dinner on a Friday night with family, service was great with explaining the specials, checking in to change plates, consolidating dishes to smaller ones to make more space (tables could have been bigger, we were a party of 5 and we had issues when dishes came out faster than we were finishing them). First of all, the service was great! They were attentive and checked in with us. The food on the other hand was not up to par; Dim Sum. It wasn't fresh like it was pre pandemic. The steamed items tasted like they sat in a steam table all day long. The food tasted like it was over steamed; the outside seemed a little mushy. I've always been curious about the restaurants at Ulfert's Plaza. Time to start trying these places. First up....Just Koi! We enjoyed eating at the cute peek-a-boo tables. Talk about space saving! Stow away chairs and hidden condiments :) Service was great. Food delicious. We enjoyed the seafood pan fried noodles & combo meat bbq! Noodles crispy and well seasoned. This place is definitely an up-scale Chinese restaurant, and you can see it in everything from the decor and spaciousness of the venue to the food presentation and taste to the high prices. Fried Tofu Chiu Chou Style ($6, 9 pieces of tofu) and Shanghai Steamed Dumplings ($9, 6 dumplings) as appetizers. Stir-fried Scallops and Prawns with Broccoli ($16) and Wok-fried Maine Lobster with E-fu Noodles ($30) as entrees. Pumpkin Tapioca Dessert complimentary. Everything was simply delicious, very well prepared and very well presented. Free salted peanuts provided while waiting/ordering. The entrees came in big portions, plenty to share. The food was great, pricey but reflective of higher quality ingredients and better customer service (as compared to other dim sum places in Tri-Valley.) Organized and food ready in 36 min even though Yelp said 1hr - I called them and got more accurate time. Really liked that they used better plastic containers, not those flimsy ones that fall apart. Ha Gow, Sui Ma, Phoenix claw, and several other common items. The best was their Su long Bao - definitely will be returning. So many people here for a Sunday brunch! Probably because it's one of the few places to go to dim sum in the East Bay. This place is pricey! Located on the second floor of a shopping plaza with very little parking spaces (way more in the back, I think). All the places to eat here are Asian cuisine. If you decide waiting for dim sum isn't worth it, you can always fancy another restaurant at this plaza. Boyfriend and I were craving dim sum and here we went. Wait was about a half hour and they have this nifty system which is a TV in the front that shows you where you are "in line". Order off the menu (no little carts of dim sum here to order from!). Glad that they still deliver dim sum now! I've been regularly ordering via uber eats, and have not been disappointed! Quality has been pretty on par with what I've eaten in person, and it's nice that there's the added convenience of getting it right at my door (instead of waiting in the easily hour long lines that this place commands in normal times) I've had the e-foo noodles, shrimp har how, lotus leaf sticky rice, Shanghai soup dumplings, and Chinese broccoli. In terms of value, the e-foo noodles (and other carbs) are definitely the best value - generous, family size portions. Dim sum is the same portion sizes and prices as in person - which is a little pricy now considering it's no longer an in-person experience. I wish they would offer some family size versions with discounted pricing if you buy more, especially because their pricing is premium to other places! It doesn't have the same allure paying for it order by order when it doesn't come on a dimsum cart :) For instance, my family usually can eat 2-3 orders of Shanghai soup dumplings and 2-3 orders of the sticky rice - would be awesome if they expanded the menu to an order of 10 soup dumplings, or 4 pieces of lotus leaf sticky rice for a little bit less! The dim sum, I must admit, is tasty but I don't like their rudeness. I felt that we were treated like second class citizens. Our group of Chinese ladies are not Chinese speaking. So would that make a difference? I would hope not because we are paying customers nevertheless. We had to ask for condiments. I asked for a pair of scissors to cut our own dim sum which they would not give us (maybe a liability in case someone got cut??). I would easily give Koi Palace, Dublin 4-5 stars for their quality of food. But I must sadly deduct some points for their Online Order/Pickup quality. In short, I had a missing item. If this were McDonald's and they forgot an order of fries or something like that, no big deal. But given the premium pricing of Koi Palace's dishes, a missing item is a bigger deal. Our order had 10 items. But, when we got home, we discovered that it only had 9. We ordered both the Pork Buns and Steamed Chicken & Mushroom Sesame Buns, but they neglected to include the latter in our takeout bags. Due to the recent allowance of inside seating, the front desk where you pickup your order is chaotic and busy. I grabbed our bags, signed the receipt and left. It wasn't until we got home that we realized our order was missing an item :(. We haven't had much luck with takeout orders lately -- see my other recent review for Popeye's, Dublin (could this be a Dublin, CA issue?). But I was expecting better out of Koi Palace. We got curious and opted to try this Seafood Chinese Restaurant on our first night living in the East Bay. This was a good opportunity for us to try something from their set menu meal since we had house guests, who could help us devour the sumptuous dishes served within the set menu meal. We had to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for our seat. As the venue was quite busy on a Monday night. After a while, we were guided to a round table that had a small lazy susan (revolving tray at the center of the round table). The lazy susan was etched with two Koi's. This was a nice touch to the ambiance. I also noticed that their chairs adapted an elegant, modern, and functional style. The actual seats were covered with a firm, plastic like material that was easy to clean and stain resistant, but provided enough cushion and comfort to their patrons. We ordered from their set menu. The presentation of each dish was impressive and so was the taste. We were all very satisfied with our meal given the value of the taste and service. read more

I'm surprised at the low ratings at Koi Express! When I crave a solid good bowl of won ton soup or Jook (congee) -- This is definitely the place to come! Always consistently good food. Very good, classic HKese drinks including : HK milk tea, Grass Jelly with red beans, MilkTea mixed with coffee (Yin Yang), etc. The 4-item combo over rice plate is super yummy! with their daily specialty BBQ items: roast duck, BBQ pork, egg, roast pork, soy sauce chicken, etc. Chow Fun (stir fried rice noodle), Chow Mein (egg noodle), or fried rice are all solid in flavor, ingredients and portions. Someone on my floor at work kept talking about dim sum, and afterwards I craved it intensely. I braved the rain to come to Koi Palace immediately for lunch. Luckily there was only about a 10 minute wait. I like that they have a large TV screen displaying your place in line so you don't feel scammed when friends of the owners roll in, skip the line, and get seated right away, like at most other traditional dim sum places. When the hostess finally called our number she took out a large, lime green umbrella and declared, "Other side!" We followed as she proceeded to walk outside on the balcony in the rain to an adjoining dining room. That's something I've never had to do before smh. Also, the umbrella was for her and not for us, which I found to be quite amusing for some reason. Thankfully the other dining room was on par with the main dining room and not as loud and crowded. XLB: 3/5 At first I thought all of the XLBs came out "popped" but I realized it was the condensation from the steamer collecting in the spoons. I had to pour out the water before I could eat it, and even then, they tasted watery. There also wasn't much flavor. I wouldn't recommend you order this. Turnip cakes: 3/5 Mushy and didn't have the julienned turnips as I was expecting. I wouldn't order this next time. Har Gow: 4/5 Pretty good. The skin wasn't too thick, but also didn't rip easily. Skin wasn't quite translucent. Egg Tarts: 4.5/5 Your typical yummy egg tart. No complaints here. Grilled chive and shrimp dumplings: 4/5 Yummy but a bit on the greasy side. Dried fried beef chow fun: 3.5/5 Tasty but way greasy. You'll feel bad after eating this... Steamed custard bun: 3.5/5 Buns were pretty small and there could have been more custard inside but I liked that the custard wasn't too sweet. Shrimp cheung fun: 3/5 Pretty standard. BBQ pork cheung fun: 3.5/5 Slightly more unique than the shrimp but on the more greasy side. Some servers were wearing sneeze guards, others were not, which was a bit confusing. Either way, at least from the outside, Koi Palace seemed cleaner than most dim sum joints. Smaller portions and pricier than standard dim sum joints, but I'd say it's worth it for the most part. The food is too expensive. It is mediocre it is not like I'm eating gold. I order the deep fired pig intestines that was 18. I spent over 99 bucks on some dimsum that I can get half the price. Way over price the soup dumpling was okay nothing special out of all the food I ordered I gave it 2/5 . For the services 0 the servers took too long to gave us our tab. D I M S U M. This is the place if your around the area and don't wanna deal with traffic or parking in Oakland or San Fran. It's the next best thing. Lots of variety and the main staples as well like Su Mai and pork buns. They have a menu of the fried items because they typically just walk around with the steam items. I like that they also offer small plates of chow mein and fried rice. The food was fresh and not. They do offer hot tea with a personal pot on a twilight candle it is $1.25 per person with unlimited refills. I like that they have the carts too. They do a good job of stopping by your table and doing the best to explain each dish although English isn't their first language. They stop serving dim sum at 2:45PM. They get people out pretty quick too. The wait can vary from 30-1 hour depending on your party size. Lots of Dim Sum Selections!! Great variety, and creative making of the foods! I love their buns, both steamed and baked styles. The one filled with BBQ pork and topped with a sweet crispy "snow" layer is super yummy, and so is another type filled with sweet taro puree and salty egg yolk, with a crispy "pineapple" layer on top (note: no real pineapple in this one, hahaa) I love how savory and sweet go hand in hand so well in a little bread bun! Other dim sum items, including shrimp dumplings, shu mai, rice rolls, etc., are pretty good as well. For all coffee lovers, try the "coffee-glazed ribs" that tastes interesting. Personally, I love durian fruit, and so the "fried durian rolls (nuggets)" is one of my favorite here; however, if you cant stand the smell and taste of durian fruit, dont waste your money on this one because the durian smells and tastes pretty strong. Service is good, and the manager is friendly and attentive. Price is perhaps the only con....Yes, this place is sorta pricey. I've ordered take out from here several times the last month. Great place to check out for those late night Chinese food cravings. The food here is priced slightly less than the main Koi Palace restaurant upstairs. Love the preserved egg and pork porridge here. Great flavor and generous portions of egg. Have also ordered their "joong" or sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf quite a few times. The lead time for this is about 25 minutes as it's frozen. I believe these are made fresh then frozen immediately. The other evening they ran out but made more the next day. I've ordered these frozen on occasion to boil the next day.
