Came by on a weekday for lunch and the restaurant wasn't too crowded, which was surprising. The location here is a bit confusing - you have to take an escalator to the 2nd floor. IMO, the dim sum here is much better than the entrees. The beef chow fun was just okay and it was a bit overpriced at $24. Also note, the tea here is delicious, but they charge $2/person. At the end of the meal, we were surprised to get a $7 coupon off our next meal!

It has been many years since I have been back here. Came here recently with my boyfriend and his relatives. It was a Sunday evening and they were not packed. We ordered 9 dishes. Food came out fast. Presentations of each dish were plated nicely. The quality and taste were good. Service was excellent. They were super attentive. I think they are known more for their dim sum. Maybe I will come back here to try their dim again one day.

We were craving dim sum on a Sunday morning and decided to come here. On the way, I checked the app "Dinfo" to make a reservation or join the waitlist. Luckily, it's not that busy around 11:30 a.m. We were a party of 2, and when we arrived, the staff advised us to go to Suite 219 to check in. Once we reached the door, we were seated quickly. We ordered serveral dishes, including BBQ pork rice rolls, crispy fried tofu skin wraps with shrimp, deep-fried sesame balls, and the Rainbow Sampler Shanghai Dumplings (turmeric skin with crab roe, squid ink skin with black truffle, spinach skin with kale, paprika skin with chicken, beet skin with minced beef, and juicy pork). We also had shrimp dumplings, steamed pork ribs, and chicken feet duo, shu mai, and pork ribs in black bean sauce, along with Anxi Tieguanyin tea. Everything tasted great. I enjoyed every dish, and the environment and ambiance were calm and quiet, which I really liked!

This was a pre-set menu for Lunar New Year meant for larger parties. There were 10 courses total priced at $988 for everything. The courses ranged from some more common dishes such as the roasted Peking duck to more delicacy items such as the lobster over egg white which was topped with Bird Nest (a luxury item made from the saliva of Swiftlets). While it did take a bit for the service to begin, once it did it was like clockwork coming out regularly. Some dishes were quite good while others met expectations but that was about it. The price is certainly set for the sheer amount of food presented as opposed to the experience or caliber. Other than dishes being delivered, service was inconsistent and at times hard to get a hold of, we had to as for water and never got a refill on that (however the tea was refilled many times through out the dinner) Their desserts were definitely the stand out as they were quite delicious, I'd definitely recommend the golden egg custard bun.

UGH. So disappointed in my experience here. I been here numerous times before and I used to love it but it really fell off. The quality was so bad and the service was even worse. I pointed out an item that was wrong and the server literally told me to "eat it anyways" when I brought it up. I was so confused to the point where I didn't even know what to say. The soup XLBs were cold. The fried tofu was soggy and the fish was not crunchy at all. Extremely disappointed in my meal.

Crispy noodles with mixed seafood 1 star :(( it's not tasty unlike other dish.

We went here dinner time to celebrate my kid's graduation, and we are so glad we chose this place! It's also our first time to try it. We ordered: Roasted Duck (whole) 5 stars! Roasted pork belly 4 stars! Chicken claws 5 stars! Xiaolong Bao (the soup dumpling) 2 stars :( Yang chao 4 stars! Crispy noodles with mixed seafood 1 star :(( Service is great and professional. Complimentary hot tea is refillable. They gave us free hot red beans for dessert. Ambience is okay, it looks a little dark for us but doesnt matter coz we're so focused on the food. They have 18% service charge but they still suggests tips. (Tell me your thoughts about it). Overall we loved the food and that's the bottomline. If you're craving or want to taste what Chinese food really is? This is a go-to place. We are coming back!

The dim sum at Koi Palace is simply outstanding. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, and delicious. Prices are slightly higher compared to other dim sum restaurants but worth the cost and worth the long wait time if you happen to come at a busy time. We've visited on weekdays and weekends. Food is outstanding no matter the day. They are organized and get you seated efficiently. The ambiance is warm and comfortable. I've only had good service and great overall experiences. Since they're located in a strip mall, there are plenty of parking spaces despite the numerous stores and other restaurants. I look forward to any random reason to dine at Koi Palace because it's so fun.

What do we like to do after a teeth cleaning in Walnut Creek? Go out for dim sum. We came in for a party of 3 only to be told to go all the way around for our table. My parents and I got the following: * X. O. Prime Rib Chow Fun - this was really good * Deep Fried Fried Capelin Salt & Pepper * Shanghai dumpling * pan grilled juicy pork dumpling * scallop sticky rice wrap * steamed beef ball * minced beef rice roll * stuffed eggplant - this was tasty!

In my family, if you don't eat fast then you don't eat at all. So I had to take pics of our dim sum fast! Our favorite place was Willow Tree in Dublin, which closed years ago when the owners retired. Koi Palace then became our go-to. We even recognize some of the wait staff from Willow Tree there. Overall the dim sum is really good! Standouts were the har gow where the shrimp was very plump and the fried taro that had a lot of umami flavor. It's a large space that's split in two sections. It can get noisy, which is expected. There's two spaces, and it seems the back space has tables for larger groups. This place can get very popular during peak hours. We were there around an hour and a half before closing and were seated right away. But we've waited at least 40mins in the past. One thing I'd like to note is their service charge. I know that's a controversial topic. I'm of the opinion that restaurants should have service charge, like many countries do already, in order for employees to have living wage. I don't think it's right that someone should have to rely on tips in order to survive. But here they have an 18% service charge that doesn't include the tip. There are signs about it up front, but we didn't read them since we were seated right away. So just a heads up when you get your check.

Almost two decades since my last review, dim sum continues to impress at Koi Palace. KP still holds its own in a competitive shootout with Mayflower and new comer Pearl Bay Manor. The food is still great, and the advantage is the service. The seasoned staff at Koi Palace are quick to bus dishes and provided 4 plate changes, refilled hot water in tea kettles twice in a single lunch. This is the advantage of being the vetran pros of the dim sum game. The dining room of KP has a classy cozy vibe and for over 20 years Koi Palace has anchored the Ulferts Center with great food. Cantonese food lovers rejoice, we have an embarrassment of riches in Dublin.

Service impeccable. Especially loved the birthday buns. The vermicelli was really good, sauce was tasty and plentiful. Always nice decor, still very clean and bright and neatly organized after so many years of opening.

Honestly the service was so bad. We came in on a weekday for lunch and it was pretty empty. I feel like this place used to be good but the service in itself was awful. Out server was rude and when we ordered something by accident he said to just eat it. The food was also mid and the fried food was no chrispy and bland.

The dim sum lunch was authentic HK Cantonese teahouse style and it was a terrific place to meet old friends for loud laughs and conversations. The staff was on point periodically swinging by to subtly assisting us with needs and emptied plates. I understand that this particular restaurant has been open for several years now but I did not realize their chain of restaurants have been for almost 20 years! That's quite a feat in my view. Because of my excitement with catching up with my friends, I did not take much pictures of the food or setting but to affirm, the food was delicious and the tea was smooth, fresh; the eatery was nicely decorated and spacious too. Don't know if my non-Chinese friends understand this, BUT YOU CAN ask for various, different kinds of teas and their combination. Yes, multiple pots too. The dim sum is obviously the center piece but the tea "yum chai" is equally the star in my opinion to complement the foods. I recommend a lighter tea for lite drinkers like Chrysanthemum tea ie flower steeped, no caffeine and floral. However, if you want a bold tea try "Bo lay" black tea for lightly sipping when eating lots and lots of heavy food. Pro-tip: For tea adventurers, try a fusion teapot (e.g. Chrysanthemum + Bo lay), combo tea flavors is different and neat when i crave for a different drink. I'll be back for sure. Hope you do too!

I picked it for a family lunch after going to the Livermore outlets. The decor and ambience is typical but relatively nice. We ordered a bunch of Shanghainese classics: Soy milk 4/5 - if you order multiple servings it comes in a large bowl meant for sharing. Can order cold or hot with sugar on the side. Xiao long bao 4.5/5 - I'm pretty picky about xlb and I am partial to the Shanghainese style (vs Taiwanese style you get at DTF and other places) and this was surprisingly good. Before this, my fav in the bay area was I-Shanghai Delight and honestly I think this might rival it. Filling and soup were both savory and light and incredibly umami. Maybe the wrapper at I-Shanghai is a bit thinner but honestly not a huge difference to me. Would def recommend if you like this style. Braised minced eel 5/5 - OMG this was the highlight of the meal for me, and I think only ppl who like this eel dish would understand. I honestly have not found good Shanghainese stir fried eel anywhere else in the Bay area. Chef Zhao's version was good once upon a time but then the most recent time we went, it tasted weird and not fresh. I-Shanghai Delight's was also no good (not fresh). This is the one dish that I will keep coming back here for. Razor clams with ginger and scallion 5/5 - This was also a crowd fav. I don't love clams usually but these were big and meaty and tender, and the sauce is what you would expect. Highly recommend Stewed yellow croaker soup with pickles 3/5 - This was ok and could've been better. Flavor of the soup was good but I think the fish tasted a bit overcooked/dry and could've been more tender. Shredded pork with wild rice shoot 4/5 - This was fine and a very traditional Chinese dish. Nicely done but nothing amazing. Red bean pancake 4/5 - This was a good dish, just not what I expected. I like the red bean pancakes where the pancake part is more doughy while this was like VERY crispy. But the flavor was good Lastly, the lady who took care of our table was SO nice and so chatty and so patient, despite the usual chaos and indecision of large family gatherings. She also packed up all the food for us and even gave suggestions for surrounding Chinese supermarkets. All in all, it was a really pleasant experience with good food and I will def be going back for more

Great flavor though - they coated the flounder and fried it first, then put all that sauce on along with vegetables. The other dish we got was a stir fry green bean dish that was done well, crisp tender with a flavorful sauce. The restaurant needs a little TLC, the furniture is aging but overall nice ambience. Service was great, reminiscent of the service you would get in China, which is much more polite and hospitable than what you get in the states.
