Sadly, I'm not a fan of Kokonut Dessert Bar. Their coconut jellies have very little coconut taste and I personally do not like how firm their jellies are. Compared to Melo Melo, I much prefer the coconut jellies from them because the coconut jellies are much smoother and softer. It may be just personal preference, but I do not enjoy the firmness of the coconut jelly from Kokonut because it feels like there is almost too much gelatin and the jelly just breaks into crumbles while you scoop it. The fruits that are inside the jelly are fresh, but this is a pricey dessert to be paying for fruit that makes up less than half of the jar. Kokonut Dessert Bar is located inside of Duke Bakery. I love coconut products and my mom love the little jars, so I figure I get some so my mom can have the little jar to store her fish sauce. I don't mind spending a little more if I can find value and purpose for the container. When I walked in and looked at the display counter, I was disappointed to only see strawberry and mango. Strawberry is so basic and I don't like my mango that ripe. When I inquired with the staff, they said they have additional flavors in the back. I immediately wanted the Pitaya Coconut Pudding... well... too bad, it was not available. After reviewing their menu, I ended up settling on the Coconut Pudding w Mixed Fruit ($9.50). Honestly, I just didn't enjoy it. The "mixed fruit" consisted of watermelon, strawberry, blueberry and cantaloupe. Some of the fruit chunks were so big relative to how small the container was and not very bite side. The knife cuts were inconsistent. Also I would prefer it to either be berries with the strawberries and blueberries or all melons with the watermelon and cantaloupe, but I didn't really like all of that together with the coconut pudding. It was too much going on and really clashing with the star, which should have been the coconut pudding. Relative to other similar businesses in this niche, I much prefer Melo Melo. They are in the same prize range but their coconut pudding tastes better and I like their container more. I really wanted to try the Kokonut Spaceship Fuel which is yuzu black pepper and vegan chocolate chips but they sadly ran out. I guess that means it's pretty popular. Instead, I went with the original because I know that's a tried and true favorite for everyone in my family, especially my mom. It's so light and refreshing that it's easy to eat the entire thing in 3 seconds. I also tried the matcha flavor for the first time and I wasn't expecting much because I know the matcha flavor in desserts like these is usually subtle and...I was right. You have to really try hard to taste it and as a matcha lover I was sad but the coconut flavor still pulled through so I enjoyed it nonetheless. I'm almost through most of the flavors and I'm excited to try out the other ones. Definitely go with the original if it's your first time! read more

Their packing is so cute! Located within Duke's Bakery, this place is small yet attempt at adhering to social distancing through only having 5 people in the store at a time. My friend and I both got the peach with coconut. By itself, it is not that satisfying. The coconut flakes that they package on the side enhance the taste. Because it's a new location, they were doing buy one get one half off! Sadly, mango is not in season so they did not have the mango with coconut pudding. I've been wanting to try Kokonut for a while now and I've only heard good things from loved ones who have tried it! When I was in town I was finally able to try it myself. This location is within Duke's Bakery and can be accessed even when the bakery itself is closed. There's a little fridge inside where they have a bunch of different flavor variations to choose from. I ended up choosing the mango flavor, which is the coconut pudding mixed with chopped-up mangoes. One thing I absolutely loved was that if you're taking it to go they provide an insulated bag to hold your puddings so it makes for easy transport and you don't need to worry about your pudding getting warm! (They think of everything)! Second, the minute you bite into the pudding you can tell that this is a high-quality product and I'm a fan of coconut (like real deal coconut, not artificial flavored coconut) and this provided just enough of the coconut flavor with a hint of sweetness that made this both refreshing and decadent! I would definitely want to try more of their flavors next time I'm in town! The only thing that I do wish (though maybe this is a personal preference) os that the mango pieces were chopped smaller and not in such large chunks so that there could be an even distribution of fruit-to-pudding with every bite. Or maybe have some fruit puree added in there? Not sure everyone would love that play on textures or how that would work, but LOL maybe that's just my little tidbits of loving fruit but also loving mangoes. So we left with 3 jars - coconut pudding without toppings - this one went bad fast, and we had to toss it. - coconut pudding with red bean and taro - lots of red bean and taro, but not quite enough pudding. would be good to get the plain in addition to this one - black sesame coconut pudding was delicious - pudding with mango and coffee pudding were good - the samples we tried. Pudding is dairy free unless you opt for the options with taro topping. I preferred pudding with fruit over red bean / taro although I do love red bean and taro. The puddings remind me of almond pudding. It's very soft and tasty without being too sweet. The shredded sweetened coconut makes it even better but just a small sprinkle of it is good imo. I don't like the bigger shredded coconut, but FYI for fellow picky coconut likers, these were small shredded coconut lol It's a bit pricey - I would just get the plain and add my own fruit at home if I weren't planning to eat right away. Kokonut is a unique dessert bar located inside Duke's bakery. We had a hard time finding it not knowing this, plus it was really dark with few lights on around 8 pm. Was looking for a sweet treat at the end of the night and decided to stop by this Kokonut Dessert Bar. I have previously been to the Costa Mesa location so it was my first time stopping in. I was hesitant at first since I saw it was inside the bakery, but the bakery was closed yet Kokonut was open! Don't worry though--the door is open and you can come in to pick up a sweet treat even though the bakery isn't open! I love Kokonut because the pudding isn't overly sweet or filled with the artificial coconut flavor. The fresh fruits really make it such a refreshing and light dessert. My fave is the mixed fruit and watermelon! (Who knew coconut pudding and watermelon would go so well!!) I noticed some people say it was pricy but I think it was reasonable for the amount and for the quality of the containers they provide to you. I will say this product was not exactly what I imagined it to be. I thought it would be more of a coconut yogurt style, so was slightly thrown off by the texture, but that's not why this review has low stars. The coconut pudding itself is delicious and just the right amount of flavor that not overpowering on the coconut part. However, I was very disappointed in the flavors like peach gum and mixed fruit. The peach gum did not have any peach flavor, was a bit bland, and was a kind of weird jelly texture. Plus when eaten with the coconut pudding it flattens the pudding's flavor to be not as coconut-y. If you do get it to try, I would recommend just getting coconut pudding by itself and top it with the free coconut flakes given. The coconut flakes are quite tasty and add a bit of extra texture and flavor. Another thing is I feel it's not worth the price. 1 container is about $9.50-12.00. Very steep and I think it will be a trend only. A good alternative for those who cannot enjoy dairy if you're willing to pay for it. read more

I always go late after dinner, so they tend to run out of most of the fruit; but he's always genuinely apologetic for running out even though it's my fault. There's a coconut pudding shop in Diamond Bar that's frankly better but this is a local alternative. Thanks to the glass jar shortage, their jars were plastic instead but it looks cute. Mixed fruit: it was honestly cubed watermelon, some cantaloupe, red grapes, and a strawberry in a jar with coconut pudding. Coconut pudding was on the softer side like silken tofu and not very strong or sweet. Felt pretty healthy but nothing remarkable. Peach gum: it was honestly an off season peach pureed into watery mush on top of more mushy coconut pudding. Also not very sweet and very healthy tasting. This was located inside a bakery so you have to ask the cashier for the goods. Same plaza as Sunright tea studio so there's some decent parking. I love the new insulated bags. I came when they first opened in Dukes and was obsessed. Haven't been back in a few months. But this is the 2nd -3rd time they have been out of the coconut flakes. Which is frustrating since it's soo good. Hopefully they solve that. But other than that. Absolutely love the plain one. I keep them in the fridge and top them off with fruits at home. Inside Duke's bakery we find these lil jars full of coconut delight mixed with a variety of different flavors like strawberry, mango, coffee and my new favorite black sesame. The consistency has a nice soft texture and for me it was a slurping and slippery tasty adventure. So if you're like me and if you enjoy the soft supple texture touching then a lil caressing of your tongue this jar of deliciousness joy is definitely for you! The coffee tasted like a mocha drink to me for some reason but I didn't mind that but my favorite was definitely the black sesame. Not only is it supposed to be good for you but to me it's definitely addicting! So while I was snapping my pics I happened to see mochi desserts inside the counter and you know me I had to score some of them. I currently have an obsession over coconut puddings and I was so happy to come across this place! I have tried different puddings from different places and I love how they make theirs here. If you're not a huge sweets fan, this is for you! Their pudding is sweetened from natural ingredients and topped with fruits to pair with the coconut dessert. Unlike most places, I like how it is not too sweet and is very subtle. However, I typically prefer my pudding a little more creamy but this place makes it more firm. Admittedly I was drawn to eat this pudding b/c the container was cute. Kokonut is located inside of Duke Bakery and it seems like you just order a pudding at the counter. I was kind of taken aback when I saw the prices which seemed $$$$ for a pudding cup, but I ordered the pudding w/ peach gum anyway since I was already there. The pudding cup ended up being quite giant (like potentially even 16 oz of puddingish product) so I can kinda see the price tag. Anyway the pudding was pretty good and not too sweet! The coconut pudding provided creaminess and the peach gum was chewy :3 And they gave a little topping of roasted coconut flakes to top off the whole thing. I was able to eat the whole pudding cup as a dinner. For me personally, the pudding is too big and not quite sweet enough for it to be a delicious and indulgent dessert, but I do think it tastes good as ....... a mildly irresponsible dinner. I may return one day to eat the pudding with redbean/taro if I don't want to deal with the traffic at Diamond Jamboree to get Meet Fresh (my preferred irresponsible dinner option). read more

I stumbled upon this as I've been looking for more dairy free dessert spots (being lactose intolerant is terrible). I was confused at first because this is located inside Duke's bakery and there is a separate employee just for Kokonut. I had never had coconut pudding so the employee provided some recommendations. I picked up the mixed fruit and the koffee pudding. I would have gotten the pumpkin one as well since it's seasonal, but there was no room in my little backpack for a third jar. These are packaged in cute plastic jars. The mixed fruit pudding was filling and I loved having a different piece of fruit with each bite. The koffee pudding is delicious as well and the flavor is light. These are a little on the pricey side ($8.50 each), but it was well worth it. Drove out of the way to pick up dessert for a family function. On the way to the store, I ordered on yelp so that the order would be ready right when we got there and the store opened. When we arrived, the person behind the counter did not have a clue about the yelp order and I was instructed to just purchase from the desserts available. However, some of the flavors I had ordered were not available. The person helping me recommended that I cancel the order and just purchase at the store because it was cheaper. I understand that there is an upcharge from ordering online but this totally negated the convenience factor. I wasn't able to cancel the order, just substituted for the flavor that was not available and cut my losses. The cashier was helpful in providing me with utensils and the dried coconut. I understand it is not her fault that the yelp order went sideways but I felt rushed and anxious because of all the confusion. My family really enjoyed the mango and coffee flavored coconut milk desserts. However, my sister said something tasted off after the first bite of the green tea and red bean dessert and immediately threw it away. Per the yelp review descriptions, two stars = could've been better. We've experienced similar coconut milk desserts at other locations and two stars feels accurate for our experience here. read more

Delicious! I got the peach gum coconut pudding and coconut pudding in the coconut shell. I love coconut, so I really enjoyed this dessert! The peach gum was something I've never had before, so it was a cool experience to eat it! Peach gum is the hardened sap resin from peach trees and it becomes a jelly like consistency once it's soaked in water. It has many nutrients and a lot of vegan collagen! It had a mild, sweet peach essence and the texture of jello. The coconut pudding was very soft and silky. It also had a very strong coconut flavor, which was yummy!
