Nope. There is nothing wrong with this location. It's spacious, clean, open and the staff are nice. It's the product itself. It just didn't do it for me. I've had amazing Kolaches before and in comparison these were just super average. The bread to me is supposed to be very buttery and golden, somewhat sweet but at the same time a tad salty. This Kolache on the other hand tasted like a white bread hamburger bun from the store. I had an egg and chorizo filled one. The eggs to me tasted like they may have been eggs from a carten, not fresh cracked. Just didn't taste fresh or special, plus they microwave it for you right under the counter. That's a turn off. If I wanted microwaved food, I'd go to a gas station. I also tried a sweet one, cherry, again very average. Cherries were canned pie filling and again the bread was basicly basic white bread. I left regretting the calories I wasted. I probably won't try this place again, but like I said, there's nothing wrong with it per say, it's just not for me. I'm not a fan of average and if you're not either, I doubt it will be for you as well. read more

I really hope this kolache shop never closes bc I probably go to this shop at least 2-3 times a month. I do have strange cravings for kolache and this is the place to go to. I always order the ham and cheese and sausage! It's the perfect portion with tons of filling inside the bread. Oh and their dessert is so delicious esp the blueberry kolache. read more

Don't get me wrong, the kolaches weren't terrible, but I've just experienced better quality and tasting kolaches elsewhere. Fantastic kolaches! This is now going to be my go to place whe nice got a hankering for kolaches. I visited this morning and picked up 4 bags of various different types of kolaches. I usually don't care for pork, but the pulled pork kolache was out of this world. Juicy, tender, succulent pork tucked away in a beautiful little roll. I bought two so my husband could have the other once he's home, but I don't think it's going to be here by then. The green chile chicken had a great flavor and was a nice twist from what I'm usually accustomed to. Also purchased a few of the standard kolache fare; sausage and cheese, some with jalapeños, and picked up some egg and bacon for my two year old. All had generous helpings of filling. Some people have complained about the lack of cheese, but I found that the kolaches containing cheese were exactly what I expected... No, cheese didn't gush out, but like all kolaches I've had prior the cheese incorporated itself into the roll and made for a moist delectable handheld breakfast. I can be pretty picky about coffee, and theirs is great. Strong, hot, and 2 great brews to choose from. Also, I ordered mainly off of the menu board and didn't notice that it differed slightly from what was available on the kolache wall. Everything on the menu board was available, but they had daily varieties that I would have missed if I hadn't stared down those buns... For instance, the green chile chicken wasn't listed on the board. There were others like pepperoni, poppyseed and honey, etc. Next time I am in I'll definitely look to see what sort of fun stuff they've whipped up that day. read more

I've been here at least 20 times in the last few years and have never had a bad experience. The food is always great, no matter what you choose. I'm a huge fan of the sweet kolaches, but the savory are mouth-watering too. The cookies are soooooooooo good. I went the other morning and was lucky enough to get a chocolate chip fresh from the oven. Was so amazing I didn't feel even a little bit bad that I was eating a cookie for breakfast! I love this place. They have very interesting combos and selections. Personally, I like the meatball, pepperoni, and pulled pork. They're more than an average kolache place too. There's smoothies, frapps and sweets available - though, out of fairness I've never tried them. I did try their peanut butter cookie. In one word - amazing!!! It was so soft and flavorful, I'm salivating thinking of it. I noticed they just starting making sandwiches so I'm curious to try them. The bread seems homemade which would explain why I like this place. One negative mark, I used to love their cinnamon twist. It was soft and doughy with the perfect amout of cinnamon and icing but when I went in this weekend I noticed they were making them a bit different. They were larger than usual. This goes to show you larger isn't always better - there was too much dough and it overtook the sweetness. I'm hoping it was an isolated event; maybe an experiment gone wrong. read more

If you're craving something sweet to have with coffee the fruit varations with and without cream cheese are awesome! The dough is light and not too bready, tender and flakey without being too rich. We went to the Kolache Stop this morning. Tried 6 different fruit filled ones. The fillings were good, but the dough was heavy, almost bread-like. I grew up in Kolache country near LaGrange. I am more used to the dough being light and almost melt in your mouth. These were ok, but not as good as the ones at Lukas on the square in La Grange. read more

Was a weekly regular there until I moved. Excellent quality and interesting spin on kolaches -- favorites are the omelette, brisket, and sausage/jalapeno/cheese. Easy in and out before work...just hope the shopping center holds up, as there is very little traffic there during the day or night. This is the first place I've found that specializes in kolaches here in San Antonio. For the life of me I can't understand why everyone and their mama's wants breakfast tacos every single day. Have they not ever heard of the pig in the blanket concept that is the kolache?! If you haven't been here then you're missing out. I tried the traditional kolaches and it was just what I needed. Their fruit kolaches are pretty amazing as well with a nice variety to choose from (raspberry, strawberry, peach, blueberry, etc). At first this seemed like a really cool idea, I've only ever had breakfast kolaches and to try them for lunch sounded awesome because you could buy a dozen or so and then save them for snacks, I got 6 sausage and cheese, 6 sasauge jalapeno and cheese, 5 turkey club, and one breakfast sausage kolache, the sausage and cheese ones were amazing but the breakfast sausage one I could barely finish, and the turkey club ones were not very good in my opinion. I would definitely come back here for breakfast, or maybe to try the barbecue ones for lunch again. read more

They are quite experimental with their kolaches. I find the poppy seed to be very nice, sort of pasty on the inside with an outer fluff. Didn't like the brisket egg, sausage egg and cheese, or any of the traditional kolaches. Overall, five star service and being creative, but some of them just don't taste good. Pretty good kolaches! Hubby and I both had the bacon and cheese. It was full of bacon but could have used a little more cheese. Hubby then had the egg and brisket and didn't care for it as much. He said there was way too much egg and very little brisket. I had the cream cheese kolache and really liked it. The cream cheese was a little sweet but the bread balanced it pretty well. They have a good selection of different kolaches and I plan to come back and try a few more. read more
