I was just going to add mochi as a topping but then my son pointed out M.B.R. I was like, "What is that???" He explained that it stands for Mochi, Brown Sugar Syrup, and Roasted Soybean Powder toppings. Those are some of my favorite flavors together so of course, I had to get that instead! The brown sugar syrup was a little overpowering but it was still delicious! Their ice cream tastes just like the soft-serve ice cream I get in Japan which I absolutely love. While she pointed to the "no dogs allowed" sign, I explained that I was only inside to order and planned to sit outside, something I have done on countless previous visits. After being forced to wait outside, my drink was left sitting on the counter for several minutes. The barista never bothered to let me know it was ready, despite the café being slow. To make matters worse, the beverage was poorly made, with coffee spilled all over the saucer. This isn't the first time I've experienced bad service here, but it will definitely be the last.

I haven't been back in quite a while since moving to the Long Beach area about six years ago, so I was actually pretty excited to have it again today. Unfortunately, it was a total disappointment. The noodles were too soft, the meat was mediocre, and all I could really taste was a mouthful of soybean paste flavor. The subtle bonito flavor that I remember and loved was completely gone. Instead, everything just tasted overwhelmingly salty. I've heard from friends recently that Tsujita may have changed their recipe, and after today, I have to agree. It's not the same. Something has definitely changed, and unfortunately, it's changed into something I barely recognize from the Tsujita I used to love.
