This was a fantastic burger joint nestled in the new food hall in Los Altos! Staff were super friendly and helpful since it was my first time visiting. I got the basic burger with fries and since I had a student discount, I only paid around $14 including tip. For the amount of food I got, I felt like the price was more than reasonable for the Bay. The burger had a smashed patty, melted cheese, and fresh chopped veggies and was delicious! I shared the seasoned fries with family and everyone enjoyed it. The food hall itself is spacious, well-lit, and clean, and there was ample seating for my party. The food hall is rebooting with fresh vendors after the first batch didn't work out so well. They have friendly staff and a solid burger. Patty was cooked right and the buns are soft. However, the flavors of the ingredients don't wow / pop as they could. I really want to taste the flavor of all the ingredients. Fries are really good, they fry them in wagyu beef tallow, so there is extra flavor and the right amount of crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Being close to our house, it's a good option for our family because there are multiple food choices available in the food hall. Prices are on the higher side for a burger, but we understand given the location. The food hall environment is clean and welcoming, with a modern Spanish vibe. Visited this place on a Friday and it was packed. I was surprised when I got to the front to order and they told me the wait would be 45-50 min for our order! Luckily it took closer to 20-25 min, but I didn't care for the gross overestimate, especially since I have kids with me and waiting 45 min for food usually isn't an option. Tried the Konjoe Burger and Shiitake Jack Burger, both were juicy and flavorful and reminiscent of their San Pedro Market location from a while back. The seasoned fries were solid, but I was surprised by the small portion. For $4.50, and considering how cheap potatoes are, I would've expected them to at least fill the container but the tray was about half full (same portion you get when ordering fries on the side instead of a separate full order of fries). It would've been cheaper to order a combo for half the price and get the same amount of fries. I also ordered a kid's smash burger, but it was overly charred and my kid didn't care for it. Overall an okay experience. I'd go back for the regular burgers, but not for a kid's burger. Burgers are pricier at $15 each not including fries, but it is a good sized burger. Seating is plentiful inside the market place, it's a lively dining environment. The plus side is it's near Penny Ice Creamery which makes for a great dessert. read more

It was very busy and I appreciated that the staff was honest about food wait times before ordering. I ordered the Hawaiian Chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich consisted of mochiko fried chicken thigh, toasted potato roll, seasoned tamari, chili pepper mayo, kimchi slaw, and pickled cucumbers. The fry on the large chicken thigh was perfect and juicy. The sandwich was well balanced with the richness of the protein/mayo with the acidity of the kimchi slaw and pickled cucumbers. It had a delicious unique flavor it felt like an upscale chicken sandwich. The fries were wider than shoe strings, seasoned, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Ask for a side of chili pepper mayo which pairs great as a dipping sauce for their fries. Very satisfying lunch. read more

I really am struggling with this place. Last Friday they were backed up and told me 45- hour wait for burgers. This Friday apparently they accept a catering and after waiting in line for about 6 min we find out they can't take orders for another 25 minutes because of the catering order. It is first Friday. That is insane!!!! They had a very long line to order and had to dismiss everyone. They often take a very long time so even though I go to state street market at least 3 times a week I have to avoid this place because I don't have time to wait. It has such potential because the burgers are very but is managed very badly. What is interesting is that the owner commented on my review while he has a large amount of people wanting to eat on first Friday (right after the catering order) instead of dealing with that issue. Also he assumes I have not complained before posting. But if did share my ongoing service concern and got a shoulder shrug which is why I posted. Pros: Incredibly delicious. Probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. I ordered the truffle hot chicken - figured it was a bit of a risk that hot chicken & truffle would go together, and was quite skeptical of the $5 upcharge for truffle (!!) but the truffle is not just a truffle oil mayo... it's some kind of thick truffle paste with huge black bits of truffle that is very robustly flavored and liberally applied -- and actually complemented the heat/vinegary flavor of the hot chicken super well. Chicken was juicy, bread and other condiments great. It's an expensive sandwich for sure, but resoundingly beats out Starbird IMO. Cons: Super, super, nearly unreasonably slow - the reason I deducted a star. Main thing to note here is if State Street Market is busy, and the rest of your group is ordering from other locations, everyone else in your party will be done eating by the time you get your order. No idea why it takes so long to make a sandwich -- it's not a lack of staff they have plenty of people back there busily working. Now I say "nearly unreasonably" because the sandwich was so good that I mostly forgave the delay. read more
