Both dine in and shoppers walk through a narrow hallway, passing the kitchen to get to the main room where everything is. If you're only shopping and not dining in, I would not recommend coming around dinner. It was packed with dine-in guests! And it was a bit awkward walking around them. They had a good selection of goods! A whole ramen wall. We couldn't browse since our booties would be in people's faces while they were eating. And another wall with condiments. Again, same scenario. How have I not reviewed this place yet?! I've been here several times now, twice in one week once because that's how good it is. The cold nangmyeon is yummy, but cold means cold people so keep that in mind. I've also had the pork belly bowl, jjajang noodles (black noodles), rose rice cakes, mackerel, and doejang jigae. All very yummy and I love how there is the option to request many of these (not the pork, obviously) things vegetarian for those with dietary restrictions. I'm not a vegetarian but was sharing some of my meals with someone who is, and the vegetarian dishes were just as good. The one tiny little minus is I find the banchan they serve with the food kind of mid, but my mom's Korean so maybe I'm just used to what she puts out at the table. Regardless, because it's also a store there are items to buy, including banchan, and prepared items like kimbap. Oh em gee. What a delightful experience. We ordered the October Special, Gochujang-Braised Baby Pork Ribs, and Bossam. Both were out of this world. Lowkey, the Bossam was more enjoyable to eat solely due to the weather. I was sweating in 90 degree weather eating the hot pork ribs. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the pork ribs. They were so tender and flavorful. And don't get me started on the soup. I need to learn how to make that soup base. Overall, great portions of veggies, meat, udon, and soup. The Bossam was also amazing. Really large portion of meat and veggie with amazing flavor and tenderness. Loved the large portions for fair pricing. The Gochujang Braised Baby Pork Ribs lasted me three additional meals. And it's just such a cute restaurant. There's a little mini Korean super market inside and an aesthetic, decorated outdoor seating area. I know for a fact that I will be back. I have been here a few times before and today I came in for lunch on a Monday. I sat in the back patio since I brought my dog with me. The patio has a nice and quiet ambiance. I tried their spicy rice cakes - flavor is good, not too sweet like some other places make it. Good amount of fish cakes inside. Only thing I wish is if it had some other veggies such as carrots or cabbage (carrots add sweetness and cabbage soaks up all the sauce). Other than that pretty solid dukbukki. I also tried the crispy spicy tofu for the first time. The texture of the fried tofu is a very satisfying texture.. not sure how to describe but soft inside and fried crispy exterior.. the sauce is delicious too! It would be good with rice. The included ban chan tasted delicious and fresh as well. I've had their soft tofu stew in the past as well, and I feel like their food tastes more 'clean' and healthy in a good way. I have seen many reviews on this place and they got my curiosity. Today attending an event nearby presented an opportunity. Forgoing lunch, this cafe mini mart offered a sit down dining experience. Reviewing their diverse menu, the last dish listed caught my eye just before placing my order. Originally, I was going with either a bento box or chicken cutlet with curry sauce on the side. The wild card that caught my eye was the chicken plate. Lately, I have been craving Korean fried chicken so with that in mind I was hopeful this dish would satisfy my craving. The meal came with seaweed tofu soup, an assortment of banchan and the chicken plate with steam rice and broccoli. It was presented very nicely. The soup was a nice start and I didn't want to fill up before the main attraction. My first bite of chicken was expected, a bit sweet and slightly spicy. I wish the flavoring had more staying power as with each bite, the chicken wasn't more sweet or spicy, despite grabbing a chopstick full of kimchee or spicy bean sprout didn't increase flavor intensity to my disappointment. The food was amazing -- a tower of vegetable tempura to share, tiny plates of kimchi/cucumber/radish, and spicy pork rice bowl. Seating is pretty tight -- expect the table next to you to ear hussle on your convo -- but for good reason bc the inside is filled with Korean market products. Loved this place. Korean Superette has such a cute outdoor patio. My husband and I called ahead of time to make sure that they allow dogs which they do! It was a little weird, because we had to walk through the whole place with our puppy to get to the outdoor area. It was such a great surprise to see how cute the outdoor patio was. You can tell they make sure to take care of the area, so it is clean to eat and it is also not just an afterthought. While the Korean Superette is small, the place was packed inside and out. We were lucky and got the last available table when we arrived. The menu isn't huge which can be a good thing. I ended up with the salt and pepper pork belly rice box. My husband got the soybean stew. Both were delicious. With the amount of food given, the prices were great. This place was so cozy and amazing! Coming from K-Town LA, I wasn't sure if the bay would have Korean food that could compare, but this place was pretty good! The concept of the restaurant/store is very unique, and I found the walls with refrigerated banchans and ramen packets to be pretty quaint decor. However, I would recommend sitting outside on the back patio if possible, the lighting and atmosphere is amazing! The service was quick, they often came around to check on our dishes + refill our waters. As for the dishes that were ordered, the cold noodles were refreshing. I wished that it came with some sort of protein or more egg though. I really enjoyed the tea offerings as well, it was my first time trying Korean multi-grain tea and it had a super unique and nutty taste. A mini store and a restaurant combined into one amazing place? Don't mind if I do! There aren't a lot of places in the bay that have vegetarian black bean sauce so I was excited to try. With the extra sauce that you can take home, I got another meal out of it. I loved their homemade side dishes. Especially the bok choy! Parking around in the area is a bit tough, however I've been pretty lucky to not have spent 10 minutes looking. The Korean Superette is a very very small grocery store with a restaurant in the back with a nice little patio outside. Even though small, there are a lot of tables. When I went there the last time was a table of at least 10 sitting outside, so if you're trying to go as a group, it's doable. If you sit inside, you're surrounded by Korean Ramyun packages on the wall and near the refrigerators for grab and go banchan for sale. Something about the vibe of it is very unique! Last visit I got the soondubu jigae, and honestly I didn't know what to expect. I was used to it coming out in an earthenware pot in restaurants (I know it doesn't need to be serve this way), but to my delight, this might be the best tofu soup I had around this area before. Korean Superette is my new favorite Korean restaurant in this area! The food tastes homemade and it is delicious! Parking can be tricky but try to find parking in the nearby streets. The staff is very friendly. The ambience is lovely with an outdoor patio. It is a very nice place for a good lunch. There is a little store in the front with some unique homemade dishes and some good snacks! It is always fun to take things to go. If you like tea, take a jar of Citron Tea!! You won't be disappointed. Now for the food, my favorite is the Spicy Silken Tofu Soup with Beef 5/5. It is delicious!!! Very flavorful. I've also had the Bulgogi Kimbap 5/5 which is good! I didn't see it on the menu but they have a few different kinds; just ask the waiter. My daughter had the Rose Rice Cake 5/5! We loved this dish. The creamy tteokbokki with fish cakes was delicious! Only thing is this is a heavier dish, so I will probably share it with someone next time. The inverted inari was a good way for me to break up what I was eating as all 3 had different flavor profiles. I personally love the mouth feel of inari so I would recommend! My complaint is I wish they gave us more/I wish refills were faster, but they had a full house and just one person when I was there! Korean Superette is a cool concept, a sprinkle of supermarket but 75% a restaurant with a good outdoor patio vibe. I did a pick-up order for dinner, and happened to be in the area. Parking is all street, but free. They're located in downtown Albany which is nice if you're just strolling around the area looking for a cute lil meal spot. Once you walk in, the cashier is there to greet you, but the supermarket aesthetic begins. To your right there's a bunch of fridges lined up, from frozen bulgogi to various sojus and frozen potstickers you can take your pick on what Korean goods you want to take home after your meal. Nothing spoke to me, as it's just a taste of what regular supermarkets like HMart of Koreana offer. Once you walk farther in, there's indoor seating, then outside of the sliding doors there's a cute outdoor patio (still shaded) space. It's pretty expansive, so great for families and groups. Their dishes are pricey, but I've found that Korean food prices have increased exponentially over the course of this year. Expect to pay $20+ per entree. Their menu is pretty straightforward, options like a bento situation or a rice or noodle bowl. I got their popular item Palace Rice Cake which is on the sweeter side with bulgogi, rice cakes, onions, bell peppers, green onion, and some mushroom! The sauce was way too savory for me, I was so thirsty after eating it, and had to add the remaining sauce to my own homecooked rice meals. But portion sizes are filling. I did appreciate that the meal came with a mini cup of banchan, like 4 options but it was still nice especially with takeout. Their seaweed salad was great, the others were just alright. Service is with a smile and efficient. The online orders come out quicker than anticipated, especially if you're ordering at low-demand times. I wouldn't say Korean Superette is my fave Korean spot...I'm still going to go to Moo Bong Ri if I am craving Korean, but Superette is a good option if you're looking for something to go and quick. read more

My friend took me here for dinner after work and it did not disappoint! The food smelled delicious upon entering the location and I loved the fact that you can purchase items in the market section. All were good except for the kim bap, which had really really dry rice (though that could have been just the batch since I only tried it once). There's also a restaurant with outdoor seating and I would say that the food is okay but not a standout compared to other Korean places. However, the outside area is very cozy and you have a nice small garden view to enjoy while eating. In the area where you can get food to go there's also a mini mart of Korea dry goods, tea, packaged snacks, and frozen items...quite a decent selection if you don't want to drive to North Oakland or Santa Clara. They serve fusion style dishes which are lovely in their own right. Recommend the rose rice cake and regular cold noodle dish. It's not like a typical mul nengmyun. The soup base is like a mul nengmyun but overall flavor profile and textures reminded me of a blend between dongchimi, makguksu and nengmyun.
