Koreana is one of my favorite Korean restaurants In the area. Both for the menu offerings they have and the banchan provided, as well as a solid meal overall. I like the combination meals that they offer as well. I had galbi with soft tofu stew Which they were able to make without spice, and I found the soup to be very flavorful even despite this. The broth was very tasty and fresh. Probably prefer Kokki if I want to do Korean BBQ, but if wanting a good ol Korean meal, Koreana is my fav. Service is excellent too. read more

Cozy little mom and pops restaurant. There was only one server running around doing everything from seating the guests, bussing the tables, to ringing up the customers. Although service was a little slow, I appreciate the way she was trying to hustle. Ordered the beef pancake, cold noodles with spicy sauce, and kalbi ribs. The banchans were all so good. Prior to ordering the beef pancake, I thought it was similar to a seafood pancake but with beef but it's essentially beef fried with egg batter. If I knew, I would've stuck with the seafood pancake. I've always loved Korean food, especially Gamjatang. Every place I go I look for a good Korean place with good Gamjatang that would rival the ones I had in Korean Town in Toronto. However, I can say that at Koreana I found the gamjatang that I've always wanted ever since I moved away from Toronto. We came with 6 people and only 4 people ordered while the other two still sat down with. As the side dishes were being served, the two people sitting without the intention to eat were served a bowl of rice each. We didn't know this would cause us to have to pay for gratuity fee. I ordered the galbi and mild tofu soup combo and let me tell you no banchan or dish was left behind! I felt a little embarrassed from the ravenous look I must have had while sitting down scarfing down the delicious Korean food that my body was craving. So authentic so yummy, the taste and smell brought me back to my childhood. 100% would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to sit and enjoy "the way mom used to make it" Korean food. I am deeply disappointed in this restaurant. We have been going here for over 15 years. And last night we ate dinner there and had our usuals. The bulgogi chicken was almost flavorless and the price tag is $30!!! It had zero personality. I don't mind a pricey dish-but it better be good -especially for chicken. It breaks my heart to give this review but it is ridiculous. That people are charging $30 for chicken, that pre-pandemic might've cost $15. I know prices have gone up most places, but if they hope to stay in business they might want to rethink their prices. Sadly, we won't be back. Simple and homestyle Korean food that is fairly priced. We were originally planning to go to Nak Won, but because Nak Won was packed, we opted to go here instead. I had been here once before, but because my usual Korean food go-to is Nak Won or Spring, I had kind of forgotten about it. Headed over here they had clay pot + main dish special for about $20. We ordered the bulgogi for this special, and also got the Korean seafood pancake as well. All of this food was more than enough for three people (we even had quite a few leftovers enough for another meal). They also replenished the banchan when it ran out, and we definitely enjoyed their cucumber and bean sprout ones! In terms of flavor, overall I have no complaints. I recall having their mackerel lunch dish the last time I came and also remember it being delicious. There was no decrease in quality this time around, either, and I really had a super enjoyable meal! read more

I wanted to try a new Korean place besides the exceptionally good ones such as JCD, Nak Won. etc..My experience wasn't as great as other reviews for some reason. The day I came in only had 1 other table dining and a few togo orders. They only had 2 or 3 people so I did expect service to be slow. Service wasn't an issue. But the food quality was. Ordered cold noodle and jokpal. I've tried cold noodle from JCD, Sokongdong Tofu, Nak Won and I guarantee this cold noodle at Koreana won't even make it on the list. I literally tasted soda in the broth, either sprite or sprakling soda but there was that carbonated texture. It was not good. If anyone knows an authentic Korean recipe for cold noodle that has soda in the broth, plesse let me know. But I don't think that's the right thing to do. The jokpal was smelly and there was still hair on the skin of the meat. JCD is the other place that has jokpal and that has never happened. I guess different places have different ways of cooking but who would not clean their meat to get rid of the smell and use fire to burn off the hair then brush prior to cooking and serving? I personally wouldn't go back given Portland do have better alternatives. read more

Hands down one of the best Korean spots in the area. I try to go here every couple weeks as they have a pretty sweet menu. They have the best kimchi bean sprouts and kimchi, I honestly would pay for a container to take some home. I particularly love their Kimchi stew and Korean sausage stew. They make a fabulous bibimbap. My go to is a combo dish: the short ribs are fantastic and you can get kimchi soup with it. The staff is exceptionally wonderful and kind as well. read more

Not sure how they got all the rave reviews. Ordered oxtail soup ($19.00) which came with barely any meat & no dipping sauce. The side dishes were mediocre at best. Dried out potatoes & overly sweet cucumber kimchi. Soup definitely tastes of msg but the meat was tender. Rice was old... it stayed clumped even after aitting in the soup for the whole meal. My family has been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember. I think it's an extremely underrated Korean restaurant. First of all, their banchan is great--just the right amount and variety. Their pickled radish and their kimchi are flavorful and pair perfectly with rice. Their meats are pretty good, but not the highlight. Get the purple/brown rice and the tea with your meal. They have my favorite seafood sundubu. Their tofu is perfectly soft, the broth is just spicy enough but packed full of seafood flavor. If you order anything here, make it the sundubu. I will eat that sundubu year-round, whether it's 0 or 100 degrees outside. Other great dishes include their broiled mackerel, which is perfectly cooked so that the meat melts in your mouth. Make sure to give it a big lemon squeeze. All of their spicy stews and soups are great and pack a flavorful punch. Service is prompt but sometimes they don't refill your tea fast enough. Overall, a wonderful neighborhood Korean restaurant that is sorely underrated. Please go! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! We ordered seafood stew and they gave beef instead. We don't eat beef. When we called them to let them know the mistake, they were rude on the phone, offered no refund, remake, or apology. At the end they hung up the phone. The issue is the way they acted, if you want a successful restaurant you need to treat the customers better. Bare minimum acknowledge your mistake. I don't recommend to anyone! read more

Been coming here for many years now and the food never disappoints. By far my favorite Korean restaurant in the Beaverton area! I've tried a variety of dishes here but my must orders are the spicy pork and haemul pajeon (seafood pancake). It's nice to come with a group of people so you get to order several things since the portions are rather large. We often have extra food to take home. There is a dinner set special for $49.50 that comes with 4 dishes we like to get. You get to select a stew, broiled fish, meat, and another entree. We normally order the kimchi jiigae (kimchi soup), mackerel, spicy pork, and oh jing uh bokkeum (stir fried spicy squid w/ vegetables). The japchae and ddukbokki are quite tasty as well. However, if you stop by during lunch on weekdays the bento sets are a very good deal. This place does get busy during dinner on some nights and we've had to wait but it's worth it. read more

I moved away from Beaverton a few years ago, but every time I'm in the area, I try to stop in to get my meat jun fix. This place didn't seem to change a thing since I left so I appreciate the consistency and availability of this one dish that almost no other Korean restaurant seems to have. The meat jun plate is $16 but it comes with an enormous portion of meat jun (maybe 6 big pieces if I remember right) a container of rice (yes a separate container just for rice), and another plate of just ban chan (side dishes). It's an enormous portion of food that could easily feed 2 people or more My one downside to this is their sauce. It's pretty dang salty (and I love salty) but you have to eat that in moderation. It's good to sprinkle some on the meat jun but also good if you throw it over the rice so it nullifies the salt punch in your face. Again, glad this place is open during COVID. Hope they stick it out so I can always get my fix here! read more

Came in with a group of 6, but only 4 of us ordered. Server did not communicate that there would be a gratuity charge at the end for a table more than 5 until paying time and charged us 18% then told us she helped us tip her. We are a group of young adults. I believe we were really polite and well mannered. But we felt like she took advantage of us. The two people who did not order but yet she still served them rice even though they did not touch it and we communicated that they will not be ordering or eating anything at the start. She did not seem too happy about how they didn't order anything. We believe she purposely gave them rice even though they didn't touch it to charge us the gratuity fee. The menu didn't say there would be a charge and she did not state it in the start. 2 people on the same tab for two short rib soup was a total of $70. We got an appetizer for the 4 of us to share and the portion was ridiculously small where we each got 4 pieces of rice cake and the total was $20 for that. We did not understand her until she repeated herself about tipping for us. We all kept quiet because we were all shocked and just paid what she told us to pay but did not show us the list of total cost and how much she tipped herself as well. The food was not the best Korean food we've had. We had so much better. Before we knew our total we rated overall experience 4/10, but after we paid and the way she told us she tipped herself we rate this place 1/10. read more

I've always enjoyed eating at Koreana before Covid happened and I'm super happy that they're still open, allowing me to order takeout when I'm craving good Korean food. Growing up in Hawaii, the main dish at a Korean restaurant is always meat jun. I've had a hard time finding good meat jun in Oregon, but was thrilled to find it here. A couple of my other favorite dishes at this place are the kimchi pancake and the japchae. When you order takeout, they also include banchan (the sides/starters) and will give you 4 items, which could change on different visits. Whenever I would eat at the restaurant, the service would seem a little slow at times, but they are always friendly. The lady who's been handling my takeout orders is so nice and always smiling. There's also ample parking here, but it's a one way parking lot so just make sure you enter on the east side of the lot. read more

A little hard to find, it's tucked away in this awkward strip mall with a funny parking lot. You really have to be looking for it to see it. But once you go inside, you can tell it's very authentic. It's basically all Korean servers and most of the patrons are also Korean. Food: We ordered some typical dishes like seafood pancake, soondubu (tofu soup), etc but we also ordered some other dishes I don't normally see at other Korean places. There was this beef with egg dish that particularly stood out. The beef was very thinly sliced and tender and the egg was almost like an omelet that wrapped around the beef. It's an interesting dish and I'm glad I tried it but I don't know if I would order it again. Just seemed like a homemade dish, it didn't have the pizzazz of a restaurant quality dish. And perhaps that's what it is, a very homey, authentic Korean family dish, but it just didn't shine thru for me. Service: You are served by sweet little Korean ladies that don't understand much more than what's on the menu. I did notice they are pretty nice to you but if you speak Korean, they were VERY nice to you. Ambiance: As mentioned, it's store front is little hard to see. Once you walk into the entrance, you find yourself in a small (low ceiling) restaurant that has heavy Korean decorations. In fact, once I stepped into this place, I almost felt like I was back in Korea. It can get quite loud as it's a small, cozy place and some of the diners have had a little too much to drink and are very much enjoying their time, if you catch my drift. Price: Typical prices of a Korean place. Overall: I am glad I tried this place, but I don't think it quite made it into my top list of Korean places. The beef pancake is not what I am expecting as all the pancake i ordered in Bay Area made with flour/ egg / scallions. When I asked my friend, she mentions that B17 beef pancake, B19 cod pancake , B21 tofu pancake only cooked with egg, like an oily deep fried omelette , they called it "Chen" where normally are prepared for worship ancestor. read more

Lunch bento specials from 11a-3p. Stopped in for late lunch after going to the Japanese Garden. We got 3 bento lunches ($10 each with lots of food) and an order or Gogi meat (which is suppose to be like meat jun if you are from Hawaii). Finding this restaurant was a little hard-it's tucked into a strip mall next to the karaoke bar. Nice service. We just finished eating ALL the food & we are soooooo stuffed!
