Closeup of the kalbi - grilled to smoky perfection (lunch portion " short ribs"- reasonably priced)
    C... D.

Extremely well executed dishes - had 3 lunch specials and the bossam ( I've had it before and didn't like it - this was so juicy, tender, with perfect accompaniments)... the kalbi was fire, spicy pork delicious, the tofu stew( soup?) great - and the banchan isn't that generic, stuff other places put out but made with care - you get the sense that ajima is truly in the kitchen cooking ... Lunch special was great for us ( smaller portions $14-$16 a dish) to get a good assortment of dishes for the table ( 3 of us) to eat family style. Didn't get a picture of the soondubu ( soup) - it was a drive for us to get there from east side Portland to take an out of town guest - so worth it!

This is my favirite korean spot in town! The people are really nice and the restaurant is clean and cozy. Not to mention all the food is super fresh and delicious, with equally great banchan (the little side dishes, for the un-initiated), which is both endless and complimentary here! My personal favorite dishes are the pork and squid stirfry, which has fresh squid and super tender and meaty porkbelly, as well as the beef pancake, which is very tender and delicious! Their soups are great as well and have very tender braised meat. I'd also reccomend their very crispy seafood or kimchi pancakes (very different from the beef one)! The only item I would avoid is the spicy chicken, as it uses breast and is a little dry, but everything else is really phenominal! I'd reccomend this spot to any and everyone in the area, it's a must try in my book!

3.5 stars. They still serve some of my favorite Korean dishes, but prices have been creeping up while portions keep shrinking. Not sure if I'll be back. Note: the picture was from some time ago.

I stopped by Koreana in Portland for dinner a couple of months ago. Overall, I'd give them 6.8/10: - Ox Tail Soup: 8/10: Hearty but expensive for the amount you get - Stir-Fry Squid with Pork Belly: 8.3/10: Good flavour, a bit less spicy than expected - B Bim Baab: 7.3/10: Lacked flavour, average in balancing the food/ingredients - Seafood Pancake: 3/10: Flavour was okay, variety of ingredients looked okay, but fairly inedible as it was really burnt

Wow, I've been sleeping on this spot for waaay too long. Was always a bit sketched out by the exterior of the place but after some research I convinced myself to give them a try and I couldn't be happier! The inside is cozy and rustic. They used a lot of wood and decors to mimick a Korean suburban home. The aunties working there couldn't be friendlier, tbh this might be the warmest service we've got at a Korean place in OR. They gave us time to look over the menu, ask questions, and constantly filling up our drinks and banchans. It's amazing. They offer pretty typical Korean items but a good variety and at more reasonable prices, especially at the portion that they give you. Plus, their food was AMAZING. It really felt like you've been invited to eat at a Korean's friend house and their mom is cooking. Everything tasted so homey and fresh, we couldn't help but devored everything we ordered. We got the Meat Pancake which were thin slices of meat battered in egg and fried; don't knock it until you've tried it. It's such a comfort food. The spicy sauce went so well with it too. Another thing we got was the Spicy Galbijjim. Definitely the pricier item on the menu and I would say it's a bit too overpriced for the pot of stew that we got but they did give us meaty pieces of short ribs. This was a bit different from other galbijjim that I've had. On the soupier side but the broth was tasty and slighty sweet. The meat was super tender and absorbed a lot of the flavors from the broth. Again, a very comforting dish especially on a cold day. Nothing beats yummy Korean dishes with a side of hot rice. This spot really surprised and won us over. They're definitely contending for the best Korean place we've been in OR. We shall be back!

What a local gem! I'm so glad we decided to try this place. We visited on a Friday shortly after 5pm and there were only a couple other tables seated, so we basically had the place to ourselves but the vibe was energetic because they were steady preparing to go orders the entire time we were there. We were greeted immediately upon entering and promptly seated. We ordered the short ribs, japchae and bulgogi. Everything tasted great! So great that I didn't even get pictures of everything because I was too excited to eat! My favorite thing though was the kimchi. I had really been craving some good kimchi and I was not disappointed. I also loved the rest of the banchan - the broccoli, the cucumbers, the Mac salad, the bean sprouts, the sweet potatoes - it was all amazing and perfectly complimented the meat. And I just I love me some Korean short ribs with onions - yum. Seriously, this meal was incredible and my review isn't really doing it justice. Like I could easily have gone back the next day to eat it all over again. Service was great - fast, friendly, easy. Looking forward to my next visit!

Great tasting Korean food and banchan. The one thing I love most about this restaurant is their hours. This restaurant seems to have the best operating hours while other Korean restaurants around the area are closed for lunch or only open during dinner time. The seafood pancake was one of my favorites! Very light and crisp, with a fried egg in the middle. It was a bit pricier than others but it was delicious! I also ordered the spicy pork with soft tofu soup. I thought the spicy pork was decent, a bit of spice and a bit of barbecue char to it. I added kimchi to the soft tofu soup and it was wonderful on a chilly day. Very flavorful broth that was very comforting and warm. Service was quite nice and friendly. They didn't check on us too often and let us enjoy the food; however, there is a button near the table to get their attention if needed.

S9. Bossam - boiled pork with pickled radish, lettuce wrap, salty shrimp dipping sauce, ssamjang, & raw garlic and jalapeños : delicious!

After dinner recently, this hole-in-the-wall Korean place went up on my shortlist for tasty Korean food in Beaverton...it's also located next to karaoke - all the makings of a Korean night! Hot tea was brought to the table to warm throats and hands while deliberating over what to order for dinner. It was the first time we had tried these items here and we enjoyed everything - my fav was the spicy stir fry squid, but would reorder it all again! Between 4 hungry ladies, we had an overflowing table of: - Bossam plate: boiled marinated pork + lettuce wrap, raw garlic slices, jalapeños, pickled radish + ssamjang made largely from fermented bean paste, red pepper paste - Ojinguh Bbokkeum aka spicy Stir fried squid with cabbage & veggies - Budaejjigae aka Army stew but it's listed as Meat & Sausage stew for two on menu (it's set on top of a butane-fueled camp stove to cook ramen noodles & keep the soup bubbling) Choice of white rice or purple rice with beans + ban chan, and I especially appreciated the inclusion of the gondeurae (thistle?) greens which you usually don't see at restaurants. Other things: - Plenty of parking out front or in back (watch out for the one-way parking lot) - Entrance is easy-to-miss (on left of karaoke) - They only have a couple servers so be patient if they're busy, ask for a tea pot or water pitcher for the table to do your own refills I've done take-out a few times from here and it's not bad, but it's been awhile since I've eaten a meal at the restaurant and I highly recommend the latter, if you have time.

Koreana came hiiighly recommended by a friend and honestly lived up to most of my expectations. I dropped by for an early dinner with a friend and honestly we had the whole place to ourselves! Woohoo~ We always over-order so we got kimchi pancakes, spicy rice cakes, and a stew each (yay for veggie soondubu!). The banchan was plenty and we definitely destroyed the cucumber side dish over and over :P They were not shy about refills and brought us a heaping plate the second time. The stews were great and the entire vibe of the restaurant was super homey and friendly. The kimchi pancake was good and the flavor of the spicy rice cakes was nice buuut my one qualm was that they used frozen rice cakes -- you could definitely tell because they legit crack when you freeze them. It took away from the texture I usually love but honestly small complaint. There is a pretty big parking lot so parking shouldn't be a problem and this place does a lot of to go orders too! Service was super friendly and I would definitely drop by again~

The restaurant is pretty small with limited seating and while dining I've seen them turn away multiple parties. They're severely understaffed with two ladies running the orders, waiting on tables, clearing tables, and doing take out orders. When dining in, they will only stop by to bring you menu, take orders, bring food, and bring the check. I've been really spoiled with good Korean food in NYC, and unfortunately Koreana could not compare. We came as a party of 4 and each got one of the combo sets and the seafood pancake to share. Pancake was probably the best thing we ordered that meal with crispy edges and decent amount of seafood. I got a combo of bibim nangmyeon (spicy cold noodles - sauce was more sweet than spicy) and LA galbi.. but the galbi never came. Given the slow service we had all meal and I was pretty full from what we did get already, I was fine if they didn't put the order in. But of course it came up on the receipt, and after bringing it up to one of the servers she came back with a handwritten receipt... still with the same calculations including the galbi. After we pointed it out again, they finally came back with the corrected check. Wouldn't recommend dining in - prices are high, service is non-existent, food was mediocre. Maybe if you had a Korean food craving, Koreana comes to mind, stick with ordering for take out?

Delicious! I will be back for more! Two of my coworkers brought me here for an end of year thank you lunch and omg, it was so good. We had the beef pancakes and the pan fries dumplings. I wish there were more sake options (and alcoholic beverages in general), but the one I had was good. The service was good.

One door closes and another door opens in this case. After searching on Yelp, we were glad to find this place in old downtown Beaverton and so my daughter and I decided to check it out after watching the Masters of the Universe movie at nearby Century 16. The Korean Corn Dogs did not disappoint. I loved the sweet, crunchy coating on the outside and of course the cheese on the inside. The corn dog didn't have a full-size dog from end to end but that didn't matter as you get a chance to work your way to it at the end after you get through the cheesy part. Corn dogs came drizzled with ketchup and mustard but you may want to ask ahead of time not to put that if you're not a traditional kind of corn dog eater or if you want yours plain. We got the 3 pack for $12. We also grabbed a side order of cheese corn and seafood pancake. I found the pancake not having many pieces of seafood in it and mostly scallions so not my favorite. I may want to try their soups and also rice dishes on the next visit but our primary visit was to try their Corn dogs and it was a hit! THE FOOD: - For 2 adults & 2 kids under 6, we ordered: The Fox & The Crow flight of meat, mandu, japchae, & gyeran jjim. This was more than enough food for us & even had leftovers to bring home. I was pleasantly surprised w/ how much I liked their japchae which had the perfect chewy noodle & flavorful so I do recommend getting that w/ ur meats & the steamed egg is good here too.
