I love the Kostas in palatine and when I found out there was one in Algonquin I was thrilled since I live closer to Algonquin I no longer had to make the drive to palatine. I got the southwest chicken gyro and my favorite...Greek potatoes. Unfortunately the Greek potatoes were not as good as the Greek potatoes at the palatine location, which was upsetting since that's probably my favorite item on the menu. Looks like I'll have to keep making trips to the palatine location. The new Algonquin location is huge , very clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. Took my in-laws from out of town here yesterday to get a gyros. Even though there was ten of us and it was 15 mins before closing they were welcoming. Gyros are as good as any I've had in Greektown, fries cooked to perfection and my sons chicken tenders were the size of full chicken breast. Cute interior, super clean and a great staff. This is overwhelmingly our entire family's favorite "joint." They have something for everyone. The kids love their chicken tenders and my hubby and I have such a hard time choosing our favorites. I love their Tuscan chicken pita, gyros sandwich smothered in sauce, or their deliciously greasy cheeseburger with everything. My hubby tends to get the cheesy beef sandwich, but will get the ribs too. The food is always delicious and they are always so nice and happy to see us. Food is decent, but the customer service is extremely lacking. I use the drive up window a lot because I place my order online. It frequently takes 5+minutes and multiple rings of the "doorbell" to get anyone to come to the window. Meanwhile, workers are walking right past the window, ignoring the fact that there's a customer waiting. When you are finally acknowledged, there's no apology for the wait, no thank you for your business, they only give excuses (last one I heard was that he was the only one there that night, which was a complete lie). Double check your order too; many times I've gotten all the way home to find that the order was completely wrong. Don't bother contacting management, either. I've been trying to get some sort of response from them for over 2 weeks with no result. read more

I've been eating for years at kostas at Algonquin they use nothing but the best quality and give you (((( plentiful food )))) the prices are very reasonable and the service I rate it to be number 1 the people at the front register will take you order they are the most cheerful and helpful staff I ever seen in a restaurant business I used to own my own business in a restaurant and I know quality service when I see me and my family will be going there for years to come the place is just great and we love their decoration jerseys on the walls great job. read more

As everyone else is saying, Gyros are the thing here! And unless you can eat like a truck driver, don't get the double meat. It's going to cost you about 8 bucks with a drink but , it's well worth it... Sorry to say I wasn't a huge fan of their Italian Beef, but I'm kind of picky on that... it's not bad just not my thing. Good place to eat. Has video poker and a very good burger. So yes I do recommend. But the reason I give this 4 because it is on school functions they have a limit of the capacity. And it is crowded. My family and i have been coming to this location for years.. Since the firdt week it opened. We used to hold our Mustang Film nights at this location. Lately, the place has not been taken care of. Always dirty when u come in. The cashiers are always moody and they have an attitude when they take your order. The pictures at each booth have food on them which leads me to question what their food prep area looks like. I wish the owner would get to cleaning bcz they do a lot of sponsoring for our pee wee teams and his restaurant is definitely a go to for team functions in this area. read more

Only had take-out. My daughter had the chicken pita and I had the gyros. EXPENSIVE for gyros, soda and fries - almost $10. take out. Have to admit, the sandwich was huge, but the pita was a bit greasy tasting...like they sauteed it in oil or something. With the heavy gyro meat, that was a bit over the top. Fries were nothing special. They have bogo coupons, but they require you to buy fries and a drink to get a second sandwich and the drink is 32 ounces or maybe bigger? Embarassing to have a Greek name associated with this place as it is far from the real cuisine. Its a fast food place serving gyros. Dissapointed from the start. was looking forward to the cream of cicken/lemon soup which the greeks are known for especially in winter months and it tasted like Cambells out of the can. read more

Let me first say I take no issue with the food here. I think their Gyros are amazing. But the service is just awful. Tonight we ordered 2 Gyro dinners and 2 Strawberry shakes. The girl who answered the phone was just clueless to put it kindly. We had to tell her 4 times what we wanted before she got it. Then we went to pick the food up. The order was wrong, she didn't even put the shakes on the order. We had a $5 off coupon, she actually said "I don't know how to do this. Can I just give you $2 off?". At this point we grabbed our food and left. But the sheer stupidity of this mindless employee was realized when we got home. We had ordered 2 side salaries that came with the meal, that we paid for, and did not get. Rather then deal with her again, we just dealt with it and ate our food. Please, hire better employees. This was by far the worst food service We have ever experienced, and that's saying a lot with the pool of geniuses around here. We will not be returning anytime soon, despite the good food. Gyros and chicken sandwiches are delicious, tender and cooked and seasoned to perfection. Even the fries are good-which might not seem like much but someone cares in the kitchen and it shows. Food tastes fresh. Tuscan salad very tasty. The only drawback is the ordering system and staffing create a backlog if the restaurant is busy which creates frustration of the customers in line (who make it known) and long waits for food. It was clean, a little pricey, the gyros was ok - we went to Big Sammy's a week before and the Sammy's gyros was twice the size and tasted better for about the same price. Went for the first time today. I ordered a cheeseburger and was actually impressed when I was asked how I would like that done (medium well). There's no way what I received was made to order and I'm not sure why they even asked for my preference since they gave me a cold burger that seemed to be sitting for some time (unless they wanted to know what stack of old burgers to pull from) - it was on the tray so fast there is no way it was even put back on a grill for a warm up. What made matters worse is when the gentleman preparing my order simply tossed my lunch up on the pick-up counter as if it were garbage and then went back to getting the fries that I ordered, letting it sit there that much longer. Was hoping for a new "go to place" but this is definitely not it - especially not when that cost me almost $8.00 for what amounted to be leftovers! read more

Our neighbors are friends with the owners and suggested we try it - we couldn't be happier. We typically get the Tuscan Chicken pita, but I've also had the Chicken Souvlaki. Both are very good. The chicken w/rice soup is great on a cold day and our daughter loves the macaroni and cheese. We've been too much more expensive restaurants and they end up serving Kraft Macaroni and Cheese - not at Kosta's. Homemade and our daughter loves it. Great value for the price. I walked in there the other day, because I was sick of Subway. The place is HUGE and very nicely decorated. Anyways the menu is huge they have a lot of salad choices, which I choose the chopped greek salad. Best salad I have ever had!!! You can just taste the flavors of every vegetable in every bite, especially the feta cheese. Not only are their salads good, my boyfriend had a mozzarella beef. I took a bite and now I am also hook on their beefs. The cheese is melted which is AMAZING!!! Just to let you know though the peppers are very hot if your not into spicy.
