Kauai Benedict + Extra crispy hashbrowns

Girlfriend and I were trying to grab breakfast before we had to depart for the day, and she found Kountry Kitchen, and goddamn am I glad she did. I gotta say, I generally don't like grabbing food for take-out, it just doesn't taste as good, nor is it as fresh, but this place was worth it. My girlfriend called ahead and found they had a pretty long wait time. Sucked for us, but it's a good sign when there's a line out the door of people waiting to be seated. I was only inside a brief moment to pick up the food, but staff was very friendly, and the hustle and buzzle of the place gave this brunch spot that air of "you will clean your plate, you will eat too much, and you will like it." We decided on the Kauai Benedict and it was phenomenal. Egg's were on point in flavor and texture, the sweet roll worked as the perfect vessel for the flavors, and the kahlua pork was fantastic, cooked well, and seasoned flawlessly. To top it all off, they honored our request for extra crispy hash browns. It really does make one wonder, how much better would things have been if we didn't have to order for take out and we had the chance to dine in? 5/5 experience.

Kauai still hasn't recovered from the pandemic. On a Saturday morning, not that early, it was tough to find anything that was open. The timing was such that they turned on the "open" sign as we were passing by. It's on Kuhio Highway, so there's free parking in front and a pay lot on the side. Note: The pay lot isn't paved and is very bumpy and rocky. There's a small cafe side and a larger restaurant side, with the kitchen in the middle. We were getting takeout do we opted for the cafe. There are a few tables and chairs. Prices were predictably high, but the portions were generous, and the food was good. I had the breakfast sandwich with eggs (not green) and ham. It was quite large, compared to any other breakfast sandwich I've had. The three others in my party enjoyed their food and drink, too. It would be nice to come back for lunch.

Delicious home style grinds! I checked in as a party of 1 around 10 AM and was quoted a 50 min wait, but I actually ended up getting seated within 10-20 min. I got seated in a small corner, which was fine. I got the loco moco, which came with a big patty and drenched in gravy. The waitress was very nice, and actually checked in on me looking concerned because I ate my food so fast haha. Will definitely stop by next time I'm in the area!

There was a long wait but the food was amazing we got the the coconut French toast which were very light not very sweet even with syrup which was good because I don't like a crazy sweet breakfast and coconut is my favorite. My husband got the pulled pork Benedict which very good.

We stumbled upon Kountry Kitchen while looking for breakfast. It was fairly empty when we arrived but quickly filled up which, to me, indicates a good breakfast reputation. The hashbrowns were crispy, the omelets were plentiful and the pancakes were huge. Portion size was reflected in the prices which, honestly, are pretty standard Hawaii prices (it just hurts this Texan to pay $20+ for a simple ingredient meal). The restroom was extremely clean and spacious. Kudos to the staff! Heads up: being cash if you want to save 2% or else be prepare for a 3% up charge for credit card purchases.

My husband and I wanted to grab a quick bite before heading to the airport. I joined the waitlist through Yelp, and it took about 25 minutes before we were seated. Our server was friendly and took our order right away, but the food did take a while to come out. The beef loco moco was incredibly flavorful and definitely the highlight of the meal. We also ordered the ube mochiko pancake (their daily special!), which was a nice sweet treat to share. The iced macnut latte might be the best I had on this trip. Overall, the food was enjoyable and the service was friendly, though the wait for both a table and our meal was longer than expected.

I visited Kountry Kitchen in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, Hawaii [4-1485 Kuhio Hwy] on Thursday, 01/22/26, around 10:30 AM. Giving two stars for a restaurant is rare from my end. Unfortunately, this restaurant provided a gigantic lackluster, and underwhelming experience. Here were the main issues: * The service was quite slow. It took a long while to be greeted initially at the table, and even longer to receive the bill at the end. * There were a few flies around during the entire meal, which made it super difficult to enjoy my food in peace. My comfort in eating was stripped away. * Parking was difficult to find in the immediate area. I had to park my vehicle up the street. * The price points for breakfast food were teetering more on the slightly expensive side. On the positive side, the food tasted decent. I ordered the Kalua Pork & Egg with a side of white toast and Portuguese Sausage. The wait time for seating was minimal, and the restaurant's interior was nice, especially with the gift shop filled with a lot of rooster-related products. Overall, I was not pleased with this visit, as it was a huge disappointment and letdown. Please take all things noted into consideration when coming to Kountry Kitchen.

Checked out this breakfast place based on other reviews raving about the coconut syrup and pancakes. I pictured the inside differently, but it was clean and they had plenty of seating and high chairs for little ones. The Ube French toast, was delicious and probably the best "Ube sweet breakfast" I enjoyed while vacationing on the islands, but other than that I wouldn't return. It was on the pricier side, but the service was good overall. The loco moco was probably our least favorite on the island. They do have a gift shop in the front of the restaurant you can purchase from and they'll even ship it out for you for a fee. The coffee was good, but they'll charge you $2 for a to-go cup. If you pay in cash there is a small discount.

This was the perfect spot for brunch on our first day in the Kapa'a area! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the menu was great. we ordered Kalua Pork Grilled Cheese, the Corned Beef Hash, the Bacon Avocado Grilled Cheese, and of course, a side of spam. Everything we tried was delicious, but the Kalua Pork was a standout! Make sure you go ahead and join the waitlist on Yelp - when we arrived there was a 25 minute wait and once we were seated it was another 30 minute wait for our order.

Service was fast since they place orders on their ipads. Everyone works as a team to take orders, bring food and drink, replenish coffee, hand out to go boxes and clear the table. Very efficient to help with the line outside. Ube toast was my main meal with a coconut latte. What a treat! Nothing left for later. The restaurant has a lot of seating without overcrowding. Will return for my next visit

LOL.. We came back for the excellent food. I got the Kauai Benedict and hubby got another omelet. I love Hawiian sweet bread, so I deconstructed my Bene and ate the bread alone with a little syrup (yum!). Kaula pork was perfectly fork tender and paired well with my poached egg, yummy hollandaise sauce and crispy hash browns. I took half back with me for lunch :) We got here at 730 am and didn't have to wait. The traffic to get to the restaurant was the longest wait :) Service and Ambiance were great.

Kountry Kitchen is a popular spot and is very convenient when you need a hearty meal! The restaurant parking area can be difficult due to the fact that there's not much street parking, but there is a lot across the street you can park in. It's a very spacious restaurant and has a gift shop inside with a lot of cute items to browse if you need to wait for your table. We had a large group of 8 but were seated quickly and our server was very nice. I had the Loco Moco which is my favorite meal to eat while in Hawaii. It was ok but to be honest, I've had better at other restaurants. I found the patty and gravy lacking in flavor. The menu was very extensive for breakfast and lunch and I'd have no trouble coming back to try other items, but I'll find my Loco Moco elsewhere!

I LOVE this place! We always go when visiting Kauai. Everything is delicious. This time we got pancakes and the Kauai Benedict (eggs benedict with Kahlua pork and lomi lomi salmon). The pancakes were HUGE and golden and buttery. The benedict was intense in flavors and quite dense, but shared we all got to enjoy the delicious pork and the acidity of the salmon. The combo was so so good. I also got a cappuccino and our waitress recommended coconut milk, which was game changing! Highly recommend. read more

Best breakfast in Hawaii. I got the pork chops and eggs with hash browns and fresh watermelon juice. Everything was delicious. Pork chops cooked to perfection and the best hash browns I have had in a long time. Our server, Carrie, was so friendly and helpful. Our food was out in a very timely manner. Not sure what all the hype is about. We joined the waitlist and were sat within 10 mins of arriving. We ordered our food...they were out of bacon!! A place that serves breakfast all day should not run out of bacon. The service was terrible and it took 45 mins for our food to come out. It was 1 pancake, 1 order of French toast, 1 order of avocado toast, 2 scrambled eggs and a side of macaroni salad. I asked the waitress if they forgot about us and she gave me some rude smirk. It wasn't busy at 11:30am. Several tables who were sat after us got their food and finished before we got our food. Then to top it off, they charge $2 for half and half when you order coffee. And if they refill your coffee, it's another $2 for a little more creamer for your coffee. What a disappointment this place was! We won't be back during our visit or ever again read more

For the BEST BREAKFAST in Kauai, you have to come here!! Hands down a fantastic place to eat because of their food selection. Opens at 7am-1pm Thurs-Mon, the tables get full real quick. Looked up breakfast places while staying in Kapa'a. This place was great! Great service, yummy food, and for Hawaii the price was really reasonable for what you get. The staff was amazing with my 4 year old and overall a great experience. Highly recommend if you're on Kauai to try atleast once. It does seem to get busy fast as it appears to be a local favorite. We got there about 10 mins after opening and there was already 4 other tables seated. Plan to go early or know often a line can form but worth the wait. read more

We waited over an hour to be seated per the suggestion of multiple locals and we were so glad we did!! First of all, our server Kari was a delight. Checked on us frequently even though the place was so busy, she wasn't even sweating or losing her smile. I'm so glad we went with the sampler and added hash browns. I did not realize how much I missed eating potatoes until five days after being on the island. Haha the French toast was served of delicious Hawaiian sweet bread and all the fruit was so fresh. The coffee was a local brew and amazing, the diner coffee here is a must try anywhere. The fullness of flavor has not disappointed us. The restaurant itself is cute with a long bar like table out front. A great time and fabulous food! read more

Quite a busy place I highly recommend putting your name on the waiting list. Waited over an hour for the table plus food. The table next to us sat down after us and got served quickly but not us and we weee ready to order. Over all the egg and avocado sandwich I had was different and really good. The restaurant was kind of loud for us. I believe if your one who doesn't have patient or hangry be prepared. read more

Must try their Ube French toast! I'm normally a savory breakfast kind of person and always get egg Benedict's, but I'd say I like tbejr Ube French toast more than anything I've tried here (and I came here event a big group so there were lots of sampling lol) Their coconut Mac nut French toast was OK, wasn't as good as the Ube. Tbejr kalua pork Benny was decent but it's nothing to write home about. Their service was amazing. Fast, attentive and very accommodating given that they're so busy and never short of customers. It's good to book a table if you have a large group. I'd totally come back for their Ube toast! read more

Busy place but they move things along friarly quickly. Cool local ambiance and flavors. Servers were great and food was wonderful. The large pancakes are a must try with their house coconut syrup and all their great topping choices. The place came highly recommended for breakfast and certainly did not disappoint. read more

Great full breakfast place in Kauai with a big selection of favorites, including local offerings. Very busy but the wait list is easy to add yourself or through Yelp app. The wait was reasonable and went by quickly. Once seated our waitress took our order and served us quickly and efficiently. I will definitely return next time I'm visiting Kauai. read more

First place we ate at. ** Get on the waitlist before you arrive. You can do it from their website. The amount of people that stood in front of The door (it says don't block doorway) and didn't read the sign (that says to check in on iPad) was astounding to me. Pay attention This place is insanely busy. Great food. Great service. Thanks again, can't wait to return. read more

My husband and I had passed by here a couple of times and we were hungry one morning and decided to stop by. We are so glad we did! A decent breakfast/ brunch spot with standard offerings. The ambiance is casual in a diner like setting. They have some native Hawaiian breakfast offerings as well as the usual eggs, pancakes, French toast. We got the Kountry sampler which was served with 2 eggs of your choice, 3 strips of bacon, a choice of French toast or pancakes served with coconut syrup, and fresh fruit. Food was what one would expect from a breakfast spot. Service was a "relaxed" island style, so avoid coming here if you're in a hurry. There's a 2% discount if you're paying cash. read more

Second visit. With a party of two, we were able to get a table fairly quickly. On our first visit with a group of three, flexibility to sit outside also meant we didn't have to wait long. We come for the mac nut everything and have always left with a smile on our faces. The latte is my favorite, but the pancakes are also excellent. Add a side of spam (1 side is plenty for 2 people) and you've got an excellent feed before getting out on the water for the day. This will always be a regular stop. read more

Kountry Kitchen in Kapa'a, Kauai is definitely a must eat at place for brunch. We had the 1) Hawaiian Belgian Waffle 2) Ube French Toast 3) Loco Moco with Mushrooms and Onions 4) ChocChip Banana Pancakes 5) Lomilomi with Rice Can't complain about any of these, they were absolutely delicious! Service was fairly fast and the staff were friendly, even on a busy day. You can then walk a couple blocks down the street to explore Old Town Kapa'a for shopping and MORE EATING!!! read more

We came here on a summer morning around 8 am and beat the rush. By the time we were finished around 9 am there was a very big line of people. We've been here once before and actually had the same sweet waiter each time. She's super helpful. I think the prices here can be more on the expensive side, since I'm not sure I would normally pay $9 for a glass of papaya juice, but that's what I paid when I decided to go for their special juices of the day. I think that's way too expensive. We had the eggs Benedict with bacon - my sauce was on the side and there was plenty of food but very little avocado. My partner had the Hawaiian pork and thought it was too heavy and would have rather the sauce on the side. We really appreciate this place and overall try to make it here when we are on Kauai. read more

Their lavender latte and sugar free vanilla latte were some of the best drinks we had in hawaii. I got luau omelette with papaya as fresh fruit, my husband got veggie omelette. Stopped in to have some breakfast/brunch on a Sunday morning. Joined the waitlist through Yelp before going and got regular updates as to the status of our table. A great feature. When we arrived we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress promptly showed up and got our drink orders going right away. The menu is extensive and full of all the classic breakfast items you would expect, plus some things you are likely to only find while in the islands. When in Hawaii, do as the Hawaiians do, so I ordered the LOCO MOCO. It's a hamburger patty sitting atop a bed of rice and smothered in a brown gravy. All the food was excellent, and the service was first rate. They use kitchen runners so when your meal is ready you don't have to worry about it coming out late. It arrives hot and delicious. The restaurant has quite a few tables so as you would expect it can be a bit noisy, but you shouldn't expect anything different from a busy diner. That's how you know it's going to be good. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend you try it when you are in Kauai. We'll be there when we go back. read more

There are not enough stars to rate Kountry Kitchen! Any day of the week, you can go there, be seated in a reasonable amount of time (Try wait, eh!), and be treated as family. I have been going to Kountry Kitchen for many many years....My breakfast is ALWAYS consistent and delicious! The waitstaff are amazingly friendly and accommodating. The price is great, and you get a plate FULL of food (their amazing pancakes cover the whole plate)! And, their coffee is awesome! You can have a breakfast with family and friends in Kountry Kitchen's upbeat atmosphere, or sit by yourself and gaze at the ocean across the street out of the big, sunny windows. The cafe at Kountry Kitchen has good food but a very terse waitress taking orders who plays favorites. Most people walking in do so because they don't have time to wait the hour or more for the restaurant. As a result people aren't certain how to order and the waitress didn't have patience until a tall good looking guy comes in and now she has time. He got his order in less than 2 minutes while the rest of us were forgotten and had to ask for the order again or waited 40 minutes. Service here was awful! It took 15 mins to get seated even though there was open tables, when we finally got seated it took 20 mins for anyone to come up and take our orders or check on us, then it took another 40 mins to even get our food. When we finally received our food it was cold and used several days old fruit. It was ridiculously hot with only three or so fans pointing at the corners of the restaurant. Everybody left a pool of sweat in their chairs and on their backs as they left. Food was alright at best and my mothers rice had paper in it. Really bad service for such expensive food. The hash browns were dry and not as pretty as the pictures. The cheese omelette was hard too. The waitress rushed me to order three times. Then when the bill came they forgot to give me utensils for my leftovers or a bag. And they threw away my to go water that I asked for instead of giving it back to me. Just horrible service!!! I spent $15 on burnt Hah Browns. Dried hard omelette. And the only decent thing was the French toast but it was something I could have gotten at McDonald's. Nothing special. Joined waitlist via Yelp and was in line for more than an hour. when we were finally first on the waitlist line.. tables were cleaned and had open tables.. still waited 30 mins and still at the top of the line.. didn't get seated, but people that came after us got seated before us. As a visitor to this island I was very sad to see them very anti-Semitic. This seems to be a common problem within the island. If you are looking for food I would advise you find it elsewhere where. They wouldn't let use change out bacon for toast! So sad with how the world is and seeing this here. Love that we could grab a coffee while we waited, mocha was amazing. Wife had the Loco Moco with Kalua Pork, unbelievably good! The gravy was outstanding and the pork was perfectly seasoned and tender. I had the sampler with mac nut pancakes, also delicious. Especially with the coconut syrup. I definitely recommend, even if the wait is long it's very worth it. read more

Mgmt is terrible. had a question for server and she asked the owner/mgmt. who then at that point rolled her eyes torward our table and a few min later a couple came in and just wanted something fast and asked for maybe fruit because the ony had 15 or 20 min nd she tole them that there was a mcdonalds down the street that would be better for them. Really good breakfast that's one of the few spots that's open before 7am. We stopped here before a big hike day on the west side. Service was 5 stars everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food wasn't heavy or greasy like a lot of popular brunch spots. I got the Kountry Omelet with grass fed beef. My husband got the corned beef hash. Great coffee great service. read more

Kountry Kitchen was a great breakfast spot! Service was fast and friendly, and we were seated quickly. The banana Mac nut pancake was one of most delicious things I have ever eaten! Definitely recommend it with the coconut syrup. The cornbread was great, and we loved the crispy hash browns. Two people in our group ordered the Kalua pork and thought it was great. read more

The eggs benedict aren't bad.. pancakes are always on point. Hash browns are hit or miss, prices aren't bad, but it's usually stockpiled with tourists. A line of people outside can make you want to avoid it. It's a great spot when the boys and I leave the north to go on a motorcycle ride across the island but otherwise I don't usually grind here. read more
