I remember the very healthy whole wheat toast and poached eggs at breakfast and good strong coffee. Except waiter service.

Last time I was here was ten years ago and I wanted to give it another try and now I'm changing my review to 5 stars. I had a much better experience this time around and everything was so delicious. We had the traditional loco moco, Hawaiian waffle, and coconut latte. Portions were big and more than enough for two people. The loco moco was classic, they didn't try to make it too fancy which I liked. The Hawaiian waffle was my favorite, a very sweet dessert-like item with all the tropical flavors in one dish. Service and ambiance were great and quick but not rushed. Came right before the big breakfast rush so lucked out on getting seated right away. They have some cute swag and art work you can buy. I'm bummed I didn't buy the hat with the rooster on it. I guess I'll have to get it next time I visit. read more

The wait was long. The food was fantastic, and our sever was beyond sweet. Yes, there is a reason for the long lines, it's worth the wait.

Food was excellent; I had the Kountry Pancake with homemade coconut syrup and a side of bacon, my friend had orange juice and one Eggs Benedict. We were there on a Sunday morning and it was very busy, my advice is to check in on yelp in advance of arriving, we had to wait approx. 45 minutes for a table. The food here is delicious! Serving sizes are pretty big, so be prepared to eat. My husband got the corn beef hash with char siu fried rice, and I got the Mediterranean omelette. We also go a single Mac nut pancake which was large than the plate it was on! Their matcha latte was so good too! This place gets pretty busy so either make a reservation or go early. read more

This place is awesome! Been here for a week in Kauai and have become quite the foodie but this breakfast was the best traditional one we've had on the trip. It's a sweet old school Hawaiian diner vibe with huge portions. The menu had so much variety and fresh juices to pick from. Settled on the Laua omelet, it did not disappoint. Get either pancakes or French toast with mac nuts you CANNOT go wrong with the mac nut anything around there. Oh and get the fresh papaya juice if you like thicker smoothie like juice it was the bomb! Everything was absolutely delicious our waitress was super nice and friendly and this restaurant was busy and nothing but the the noise of forks hitting the plates! They had music playing in the background but again we heard the tune of forks hitting the plates because everyone was enjoying their food. I didnt think a spot that spelled country with a "k" would hit a 5 star for me, but damn it hit and it hit hard. We were looking for breakfast after an abysmal night of sleep. We looked at many spots, but most either didnt open at a good time or didnt look great. This place looked great and had solid reviews. I am so glad we made the trip. The Moco Loco we split was dynamite. We grabbed it with the pork and my god, it was close to one of my favorite meals we had on the island. It was huge, delicious, and worth the stop. I will say we arrived at the right time. 30 minutes after opening we pulled up and were sat immediately. 40 minutes later there was a line out the door. This place pays to be a morning person. Came here for some Macadamia nut French toast, left fulfilled and satisfied. We parked across the street and walked over. Use the waitlist so you don't have to wait long. Check out the trail across the street for some nice views while you wait. We got the Kailua pork loco novo with the Ube French toast and macadamia nut French toast. Super delicious. I was happy to put our name on the wait list prior to arrival and only had to wait about ten minutes after we arrived to get seated. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was really tasty. Knocking down a star for extra charges not explained and didn't make sense. Extra $1 dollar for cream for coffee, extra $1.50 for cheddar cheese on grilled cheese sandwich when it was an option, extra $1.50 for type of bread on sandwich which was once again one of the selections. Love this breakfast joint! Expect there to be a long wait! Yelp waitlist is their new waitlist system (new since we've been back), be sure to tell the hostess your party has arrived otherwise you'll get booted. It is cold in the place so be prepared to bring a jacket. It is a very small place with no space inside to wait so if it's raining, expect to get wet! The Mac nut pancake is really really good, the macs are so buttery and the pancake is larger than the plate. We've ordered this twice and never eaten all of it. The side of Portuguese sausage is good but too pricy, 5 small slices for $5. If I had known I would never pay $5 for less than one sausage link. Don't bother with this. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was also pretty good. I'm not a big brioche fan but the kidlet loves them so for our picky 14 y/o to eat almost all of her dish - AMAZING! read more

Lovely food and service! We went back 2 times since we stayed in town for 1 week! Definitely worth the wait... if any! Enjoyable meal!

The food was fantastic!!! We got on the waiting list and it was a good idea we did. We went from number 19 on the list to number 1 within an hour though. Worth the wait... and really glad there's a "join the waitlist" option now. We joined when we left our hotel in Lihue, made the 15-20 min drive to Kapaa and got the text that our table was ready as soon as we parked. Never had anything I didn't like. LOTS of latte choices! Carrie was our waitress and she was lovely. She was so helpful in choosing our meal and our coffee. They have fresh juice choices too. Today's juice was fresh papaya. The inside has a Hawaiian country vibe. Very casual and welcoming. It seems to accommodate many people. The best parking is across the street in the dirt lot. Stopped by with the family for an afternoon breakfast. The food was great. My wife LOVED the macadamia nut pancake. Just beware it is the size of a plate so order it for 2+ and share. ;) I went with the Kailua pork and eggs. It was good. We also tried the French toast, and cornbeef hash. Everyone really enjoyed their food. And the server was very polite and friendly. So why only 3 stars?! I realize everyones experience will be different but the other patrons here made it unbearable. The ladies across from us had a toddler that was slamming stuff on the table loudly and they started yelling at the kid and slapped him. A couple tables over some loving parents bought their kids some incredibly loud and annoying chicken toys that are sold inside the restaurant. While I'm sure the parents meant well. Two of us left with a headache from the horrendous kazoo like blaring sounds that continued throughout our meal. I'm not saying your experience will be like mine but me personally. If you come to Kauai, you have to eat here! It's a great brunch place in the town of Kapaa meaning it gets crowded and has long waits. You can put yourself on the yelp waitlist which makes it easier. Word of advice, or you have a choice, sit inside, it was super hot at the bar. Traditional Loco Moco - one or the best I've had on the island. The rice was Cooked perfectly and wasn't soggy, the paddy had great flavor, the egg was cooked to the point of a nice runny yolk, and the gravy was delicious! 10/10 would recommend. I hadn't been to this restaurant in four years, but I knew I needed to come back & it was still soooo good! Their French toast is delicious and the coconut syrup with it is amazing. It was a hard choice between the coconut french toast and the pineapple, but I did not regret it after taking one bite of the carmalized pineapple. Everything was fresh and just so good. I love the variety of the menu with the different benedicts, omelets, french toast & pancakes. A lot of delicious Hawaiian flavors to choose from! I'm giving this place 4 starts and not 5 just because it took us 50 min in the waitlist to be called, plus 30 min until the food was served.
