It's your go to place for sushi and weekend bento box! I am a frequent customer here. I've sways gotten charashi (raw seafood slices over seasoned rice) and my husband sushi delux (10 pieces plus a roll). We also like the spicy scallop roll. Kudos to one of the young male servers. He remembers our orders correctly such as fresh wasabi and no mackerels. Other servers have always messed up our orders. He also made our ninja drink while the bartender was in dispose. We made reservations for the grill on a Friday, got there waited for a party to leave and immediately got seated. The chef was amazing and very entertaining. We went for my boyfriends birthday and they made a point the entire night to make it special. We all ordered a steak dish, but me and my boyfriend also ordered sushi. It was our first time at the restaurant and we want to taste a little bit of everything. It was extremely delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked, my shrimp and scallops was delicious and the fried rice was great also. We got two rolls that were good and tasted fresh as well as a appetizer platter that brought a variety of sashimi, the sashimi was for me the great test. If a restaurant doesn't have fresh sashimi I am likely not to come back because that means the fish isn't fresh and the rolls aren't fresh either. But they passed the test the salmon was like butter melting in your mouth. My dad hasn't ever tasted sushi or sashimi and he fell in love! Everything was an amazing experience! We started off with the shishito peppers (don't order that. They did not taste right and needed to be more vinegary) But everything else was a delight! We got a tuna appetizer with basil and apple on top (it was delicious), the machu pichu sushi which was also on point, but the best dish of all was the filet mignon topped with crab cake, blue cheese, and fried onion! The decor and atmosphere here are very nice as well. The only reason I can't give them five stars is that you never know what you're gonna get for service. We had a great time! When we got there the restaurant was packed so we had to wait about an hour for our table. We decided to go down the street for drinks while we waited. Once 8:30pm came around we were seated socially distanced from the other party at the grill. Once our cook got there, things started moving fast. He was friendly, talkative, and funny. After many recommendations, and pestering from the wife for sushi, we decided on koze. Reservations were made in advance, once in side it appeared just that cozy. Turns out our reservations for our grill table were stolen by a group of fronchis. The hostess was very apologetic and even offered to kick them out (plus). Since I'm Christian and it being lent, I let it go and we were seated promptly at a window table. Dos XX Mechiladas started off my night along with the Parmesan encrusted scallops as an appetizer. The scallops were good and cheesy but the asparagus, which appeared to be fried in this green chili tempura paste was really tasty. The main course consisted of 3 rolls; the salmon roll, the dragon, and the green chili roll. The dragon was really spicy the shrimp within we're good. Salmon roll was descent, more simple to the taste...my wife was playing it safe. When I ordered the green chili, it said it would have strips of green chili which I'm always a fan of. As the roll arrived it looked like their was a piece of fried fish over the sushi, Then I thought chili relleno. The roll was good strips of green chili were inside the roll which gave it a spicy kick...I guess I could've done without the fried green chili strips, that looked like fish. All and all the food the was good no big complaints, we stayed well after closing enjoying our drinks. Although I would have like to have seen those fronchis kicked out of our grill. Great hibachi place in town! Every time I've been there, I've gotten Micah as my hibachi chef and he's the best! He's hilarious and definitely puts on a show for everyone and other tables around you get jealous haha! Good food, good atmosphere, just a bit loud with all the cooking, talking and music (which is a bit louder than it needs to be I think). Went there with my mom this most recent time and she got the filet with asparagus and mushrooms and I got the New York strip and chicken. Okay, first off--the atmosphere is fantastic! Decor is beautiful, employees are friendly and on the ball. When the atmosphere is great and the food is great, I don't mind the higher prices. We just ordered sushi rolls, and they were amazing! We got miso soup first, and it was soo good! Warm, delicious--it's a comforting soup. I loved it. The rolls we got were the Macho (spicy tuna, jalapeno, cream cheese, with filet mignon on top), the Dragon (fried shrimp, eel & avocado), and the My Girl (tuna, crab, salmon, and asparagus on soy paper fried with spicy sauce). The waitress clearly had no idea what a sashimi salad was and brought out the wrong thing twice. Also had no clue what a dark and stormy cocktail was. She was very pushy and wanted us to order quickly after my boyfriend and I had not seen each other all day, ordered a bottle of wine, and had been there exactly 10 minutes (I checked my phone). She was severely annoying and I hope she isn't there the next time we come, if we ever do. The tapas were good, we had ordered the spicy tuna, they were a little on the small side, but the taste was on point. We also ordered the sashimi chef's choice I believe it was 4 pieces and the sushi was fresh, considering we are in the desert. Hubby ordered the duck breast with fried rice& I ordered the salmon teriyaki. I was expecting a more gracious amount for the sides I had chosen spinach and the roasted chillies. After following their IG account for several months I was excited to try this place with my husband. We really like sushi and wanted to branch our from our regular place on the east side. When we got their it was a busy Friday night. Everyone was super polite, and we were immediately excited because of the cool atmosphere from the teppanyaki grills. It looked like so much fun we wished we made reservations for that area instead of for sushi. But, we came for sushi!! Now, this is where the positive review changes a bit. We ordered three different sushi dishes. combo of sashimi and rolls and while all three looked great presentation wise, they all lacked flavor. The dishes were bland. The fish didn't taste fresh. It was an OKAY sushi experience. Needless to say, we were bummed. The meal was also quite pricey for what is was. While we did have a couple beers and saki, our bill was over $100! I have no problems paying this for an amazing meal. We often do, it just hurts a bit more when the meal was subpar. If you want to eat for atmosphere, I suggest the teppanyake side. I enjoy the ambiance and the entrees but their sushi is a bit too Americanized for me. They have an assortment of rolls but everything seems to be tuna based and have cream cheese in it. They offer nigiri and sashimi, but being that we are land locked, I wait until I am traveling or on the Coast. Parking isn't bad and it gets lovey so I recommend you make reservations. read more

Yummm!!! This was our first time here. Our server was super friendly and made sure we were well taken care of (getting waters, checking on us, getting a high chair for our baby, fast service, etc). I got the playboy roll and I was not disappointed ! I love tempura in sushi and theirs was crispy goodness! I have never had soy paper on a sushi roll, but I was into it. My husband got the sticky gyoza and calamari fritters. The gyoza were well seasoned and cheesy. The calamari had a delicious sauce, but the actual fritters were kind of salty for my taste. Giving a five star review based on the multiple occasions eating at the teppanyaki grill and at a table. The husband and I have always had excellent service and delicious food. Tonight was slightly different with the food, my filet mignon was undercooked by a lot. It was then sent out over cooked and chewy. I'm usually not too picky but having had it melt in my mouth from here countless times before, I was dissatisfied. Our server was kind and gave us a dessert, but the manager couldn't be bothered coming to speak to us. He spent his time in the dining room on his cell phone. Oh my goodness we had such a great experience here. We sat at the Teppanyaki table and had so much fun with our chef. Do you know our chef that cooked our meal started out as a dishwasher and then eventually worked his way up to head chef? Gosh I love America. He dazzled us with his tricks and your usual Teppanyaki entertainment, but was attentive to Grandma and the little one as to make it super enjoyable and special just for them. Thank you so much for that! The food was also very good. The filet mignon was exactly what I wanted and everything was plentiful. Our waitress was lovely and helped explain the menu options to Grandma more than once with no irritation and nothing but kindness. We will be back again and again and again. The sushi was absolutely delicious! We didn't have to wait too long, they asked if we had a reservation. We walked in and got seated ( Monday evening 7pm) They were pretty busy, but we still got our order and drinks taken right away. The food didn't take too long either. It was 3 of us. We each ordered one roll and decided to order 2 more. The server let us know that they were busy and it would take about 10-12mins. Now back to the sushi! Everything was so good! My favorite was definitely the Macho roll, it has jalapeños. So if you don't like spicy I would suggest to ask for it without or you can easily remove them yourself. The machu pichu pikachuuuu roll was really good too! I was little disappointed in the naked roll, someone posted a photo and it did not look like that at all. It's basically a spring roll, if you are familiar with Vietnamese dishes, it's like that but with fish. The Diablo was delicious! There seems to be alot of misconceptions about this place. On yahoo i read alot of dissappointed people with the restaurant mixed with positive reviews. After firsthand experience i have to say the critics are wrong to a point. First, in terms of meal i only had sushi but i have to say that it was still very good. The critics are right in that it is not the best sushi in the world. I know at least one restaurant in Redlands Ca that can beat this place in terms of sushi but it's not like you will be dissappointed. The philly roll was by far my favorite and i suggest that you try it. It's a crazy combination of flavors that just works. Second, the critics are dead wrong in terms of service. The hostess was very friendly and chatted for a while about herself and the restaurant. She was able to get us a table in a nice amount of time. The waitress was also pretty fast and maybe have been overworked but i certaintly did not see that. Third, the environment was friendly and the bathrooms were good enough. Someone said that rave/club music was playing in the bathroom. I did not hear that. Overall it was a enjoyable experience and i would recommend it to other people. read more

And because of the wait, we were given three pieces of a Playboy roll (why must sushi places always make sexual innuendos when naming their rolls). I think this one may have been my favorite so I was kinda glad that we'd been forced to wait so long. Prices - very reasonable prices on the entire menu, always a plus! Ribs appetizer - get them! They're divine! The bad - Noisy - it was really loud in here so it made it tough to hear one another. And despite not being overly crowded, the wait was pretty long. Maybe they were just short on staff. The ugly - Bathroom - I walked in and suddenly felt the need to do the running man in the stall. Why? Some crazy techno music was blaring in there. I felt like I'd walked out of a restaurant and into a club. Weird, right? And they were pretty filthy, which was disappointing considering how nicely the actual restaurant was maintained. Service - it took a bit for our food to come. She spilled one of our soups and when my friend said he'd take it anyway, she said, "No" and took it back. Our appetizers never came. When we asked her about them, she told us she'd forgotten to order them -even though I saw her write it on her note pad. I was born and raised in El Paso, TX. When I left in 2002 places like this did not exist. The best we had was Samurai Sushi. With the Ft. Bliss boom, El Paso has totally changed. Well, I suppose it is currently changing. This change is awesome, and Koze is a prime example of the "hip-ening" of what I once called Hell Paso. I was visiting town for the night and my old high school friend who now resides in LA took me here for dinner. When we drove up to the old Blockbuster strip mall I could not believe the little shops. We parked and headed into Koze. I entered a place not found in my Old El Paso. It was hip, beautiful, dark, sensual, and inviting. You enter facing the bar with big screen TVs showing whatever sports game you'd like to see. Then we were escorted away from the teppan grills into a sectioned off yet still open part of the restaurant for more private dining. We started with the gyoza, which had very good flavor and texture. I'm pretty much a snob for Japanese food after living in Tokyo for a year, and these made me happy enough. We then started into the specialty rolls. We ordered a few that were all tasty, but by far the best was the Playboy Roll. As mentioned, some of the larger pieces were hard to pick up and had a tendancy to break, but I've noticed that with most elaborate rolls. I didn't find any fault with the rice. We also ordered yellow tail sashimi. It was fresh and delicious and cut well. They were a little slow on getting us something I can't remember...maybe wasabi? I think it was actually the individual soy saucers. Otherwise the service as attentive and friendly. I don't remember my glass of water ever being empty. There are 2 sections of the restaurant so if you're going in for hibachi call in ahead to see if their is enough room or visa versa. When you're sitting in the "restaurant" part of Koze you're not missing out, especially if you order the calamari that delivers the longest pieces of squid you've ever seen fried or a sushi roll such as the 911 roll which is an ode to spicy tuna. This place caters to the edgy with a sushi bar including beer and wine and of course what self respecting sushi joint wouldn't have saki. This is on-par for one of my favorite restaurants in El Paso!! The restaurant itself is a fairly good size. They have taken a moderately sized area, and with some careful table arrangements, have made it seemed like a much larger area than it really is. There are four or five teppanyaki tables, and a handful more regular tables/booths. The decor and lighting are great. They work well together to create an intimate environment perfect for a date night with the Missus! The Teppan Tables are great. The chefs are always a lot of fun, and do a wonderful job of involving everyone at the table. The teppan table menu selection is fairly limited, but there isn't anything on the menu that isn't good. The chefs will also listen to you if you wish to customize your meal a bit. The teppan tables are also great for kids too. Our 3 year old loves it!! The regular tables are good as well. I actually prefer to sit at the sushi bar, because the majority of our visits have been just for sushi. The sushi chefs are like artists. It is amazing to watch them build sushi roll after sushi roll with ease. My favorites are the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Playboy Roll. The prices are about right for the quality. We usually go in and order 5-6 rolls, and spend around $70-80. They also have some good Gluten Free menu items to choose from! This place does tend to get packed for Holidays such as Valentine's Day or Mother's Day. They do accept reservations, but ake sure you reserve your seat or table early! Those spots go really quick! If you have not had the pleasure of dining here, do yourself a favor and check it out! You will not regret it!! read more
