This past weekend I attended what was advertised as a rum brunch (flyer attached) with a few friends. When we walked into the establishment unbeknownst to us it was a "cash only" entry. We gave a friendly suggestion that perhaps on the flyer it should indicate that the $45 would have had to be paid in cash only. Following our suggestion, the hostess rudely responded, "it has ALWAYS been cash only. Ma'am, how are we supposed to know this if it is our first time? I had a gut feeling things were going to continue to get interesting as the day progressed (in a negative way) but we stayed optimistic and walked to the Chase bank in the area. ISSUE NUMBER 1. When we get back we sit down excited to start having a good time! Our waitress gives us our mimosa or bellini option. With confusion, we asked whether or not rum punch was an option as well. She said plainly no only mimosa and bellinis. ISSUE NUMBER 2. Again, we proceeded to attempt to enjoy our time since we were looking forward to eating! This brunch is a buffet style which is my favorite because we're able to get multiple plates, wrong. See, I love spicy food. I myself am Caribbean and I've always enjoyed food with a nice little kick. The ackee and saltfish, the peppered shrimp and curry goat not only gave me a kick but a punch to the gut. I wasn't able to really enjoy those food items. I know that is more of a subjective topic. The reason I mention this is because I was letting my stomach settle to go back for a second plate of dumplings, fried fish and chicken. Unfortunately, that was not the case. One of their employees told my group that we had to get up because we were only allotted an hour of seat time. Never have I ever been to a brunch where we sat for less than TWO hours. No way was I going to grab another plate to float around the bar area with no place to sit or put my plate down. I most definitely did NOT get my money's worth of food, especially since I didn't even finish my first plate. ISSUE NUMBER 3. The flyer said unlimited mimosa's until supplies lasted. I understand the concept of slowing down service in order to make your products last and give your customers the opportunity to get fair amounts. Being that we were not seated it felt like we had to hound waitresses down to fill our cups. Personally, I don't like the feel of "begging" which brings me to ISSUE NUMBER 4. Needless to say, I will NOT be financially supporting this establishment in the future. They were inhospitable and unapologetically rude. Except for the coat check girl. She was nice and gave a welcoming smile with some apologetic eyes. So kudos to her, everyone else we came across that afternoon can go kick boulders. read more

I learned about this restaurant while looking through the Groupon website. The restaurant offered a $40.00 voucher at the purchase price of $20.00 and stated no exempt days that it could be used. So I purchased the voucher and planned a day to go with a friend. I also called to make reservations in advance which also wasn't required for redemption of the offer. I visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening however, when I mentioned that I had a voucher to use to the waitress she told me that the restaurant didn't accept vouchers on the weekends. To be exact she stated that they were not able to contact the company to verify the voucher on the weekends so it couldn't be redeemed. She further stated that the voucher could only be used during the week. So we paid the bill in full without a complaint. Overall, the food and service was good but nothing I haven't had at any other Caribbean restaurant closer to my home. Eventually I contact groupon but they only reiterate to me what the voucher states - that there are no days of the week that the voucher could not be redeemed. Groupon simply says that I could return to the restaurant and try again but I won't. I also plan to stop utilizing groupon. The voucher should've been accepted the first time I was there as far as I'm concerned. I would be a fool to return to spend more money on dinner and risk being told the same thing. Why offer a deal then refuse to accept it when the customer shows? What a waste of my time. read more

First of all, when you order your food, the prices are on the front of the window. It's like a Buffay style but they put the food on your Styrofoam carry out at enormous prices for instants oxtail rice and peas and sweet potato is $32. The oxtail is average big pieces with no meat on them soaked in oil like it came from the OPEC nation. The two young men that work there were respectful how ever you're paying strictly for ambience because their food is not that good at all. You would be better off going to just a restaurant that serves oxtail and pay a lot less for something that probably will taste a lot better. I understand that rents are high but if you're going to rob a person for a meal at least make the meal tasty. So....came here a few nights ago to celebrate a family wedding anniversary.....let's start with the positives.....rum punch is delicious....and it has a nice kick to it! Loud enough to hear it but not too loud for a conversation.....now to the not so positive .......I ordered the shrimp rasta pasta....and it was meh....too many vegetables for the ratio....my husband ordered the oxtails ($30) and definitely not worth the money! The others in our party ordered everything from the fried snapper ($40 - insane) and everyone agreed that the food was just OK...not worth the $$$....now to the negatives.....the Service!! The waiter was abrupt and not friendly....he seemed bothered the entire time and perhaps not suited to serve a large party (15 ppl)....as we were paying the bill and they were clearing the table, I specifically stated that I wasn't done with my drink, but clearing the table and getting us out of there (while paying the $1000 bill) was more important and my full drink was gone! Love krave but this is my second time coming and I keep getting the same heavy set waitress with the bad attitude. I think her name is Trishanne. She's not friendly at all, not attentive to her table. The first time I went with my husband and kids and right away I can tell she's not a kid friendly person. She was very dry and cut throat. It seemed like she was a little annoyed of my kids and their request multiple request for more juice. The second time I came with my girls and one of my friends couldn't make up her mind on a Food selection and this same waitress was rude. She was inpatient and she made a face at my friend. Being that this is my second encounter with her it's confirmed she's just nasty overall. I should've requested a different waiter. The jerk and spicy dishes had great seasoning. The jerk wings could have had a but more bone on it and less dry. I also had the Dutch oven fried wings but was a bit disappointed that it just tasted like regular chicken wings. My friend had the ox tail stew which was fall off the bone goodness. The service was very nice but could use a bit if training. The waitress must have checked in on us 7 times, not exaggerating. Then when it was time to get the check, she was never found. The jerk chicken is not dry at all and comes with a side such and rice and peas, Mac and cheese or vegetables. The ackee and salt fish was pretty good. It has lots of ackee, tomatoes and onions. Not salty at all! Also comes with and side. I ordered rice and peas and it came with oxtail sauce. In terms of drinks, you can never go wrong with the rum punch, def has a kick. The last time I was there, I had the sweet passion martini with coconut, pineapple juice and and rum! It was really really tasty! I would totally get it again. In terms of COVID, the tables are adequately spaced apart, the staff is wearing masks, and some are wearing gloves. They have you sanitize before you are seated. This spot will probably be really popular really soon. The vibe is a bit more formal than expected. When my boyfriend and I stepped in we were greeted and he was asked to take off his hat. It was towards the end of the night and there were probably maybe 1 or 2 other couples there. The waitress was so very kind and helpful. We didn't have to wait for anything. I'm Caribbean so I can be very particular about my Caribbean food. However, I have no real complaints. The food was good and the service was very fast. There were also some people upfront watching the game. When we go again I think we will most likely opt for that option rather than sitting in a more formal spot towards the back. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the Shipwreck (similar to a dark and stormy) and it was really good. Simple drinks can be botched. It's refreshing to see the bartender use fresh lime when lime is one of the ingredients ... go figure. The shrimp appetizer with the spicy sauce was tasty and really spicy so it lives up to its claims. The lemon pepper wings were delicious. I think we've found our new go to for a good service, good drinks, good music, good food and a near perfect ambience. This was our first visit, I hope our next visit is consistent. The food was DELICIOUS. We got there pretty late before closing- so we sat at the bar. The bar tender was so cute, polite, and really gave the best customer service. She recommended the pepper shrimp appetizer. So if you like spicy and savory- that's a sure bet. I loved the presentation of the food, especially the oxtail dish. Disappointed.. Sunday Brunch. First prices are a bit escalated.. as we entered we were demanded to pay upfront fee including taxes. Mandatory Coat check request in cash only. Most people don't carry cash. Why couldn't I just place my jacket across my chair? Then once inside, we sat at our table waiting for waiter/ Waitress for 10-15 mins. I had to ask for assistance & water. BTW, we were told to pay additional for Poland Spring Water bottles at our table. Water not included in the $55 Brunch fee. Open buffet which consisted of cold eggs & most food semi-warm not hot. We had to track down our waiter for our Bottomless Drinks. He never approached the table to ask what was our interest in drinks. Guests are suggested to vacate tables before the reservation time is completed because they want to prepare for the next reservation. I felt rushed and not considered. The ambiance at dinner is usually cozy but brunch lacked tables cloths and reminded me of a college cafeteria. I offered 2 stars because the DJ was popping. I love this place. The atmosphere, music, food, service but tonight was the first time sitting at the bar. I have never, ever seen a bar ran so clean in my life. I been to my share of bars.
