Currently, I only purchase Krispy Kreme as a special treat if I have worked out in 2-3 fitness classes and only one donut. However, my Krispy Kreme purchase was not targeted for me but husband for Valentine's Day. In addition to buying him flowers and a Valentine's gift, I bought him the cutest heart shaped donuts. I remember Krispy Kreme trips as a kid being the highlight of my day. Fast forward 25 years and I have finally made it back to one with my son. Didn't know his eyes could get so big. We literally sat and watch the donuts go round and round for 15 mins straight. The employees were all incredibly friendly and the place was spotless. Kristy Kreme isn't the same as how I remember it from 20 years ago in terms of the atmosphere when we go inside the store. We used to watch them flip fresh donuts even late in the evening - I haven't seen them do that the last few times we've been here. Regardless, their original glaze is still fresh, light and amazing tasting as I remember. I visited the store today for the very first time and I love how they blend a lot of Austin/local elements into their store design. The best part of visiting a physical Krispy Kreme store is you get to see the making process. I always love standing behind the glass and watch those doughnuts being fried and flipped. Such a fun experience:) Since it's the National Doughnut Day today, they're offering free doughnuts for everyone (any flavor of your choice)! I got the original glazed, which is my all-time-favorite. So I wanted to make sure that I am clear that the staff is lovely, the donuts are yummy, I mean it's Krispy Kreme right? So why would this scorned eater give Krispy Kreme donuts a 2? Easy. The level of inconsistency in the shape and size of donuts has ripped me off 3 times now. I paid $13.49 (something like that) for a dozen donuts. Look how small they are. I have to conclude that either A) the staff does not know how to consistently make same sized donuts or B) some staff members give me the mini donuts instead of the real sized donuts. These donuts which were fresh were harder, and not as squishy as you'd like. I'd love feedback of anyone else experiences this inconsistency. Either way, would anyone else be slightly ticked that these donuts caused that much? I think for a chain the training should be perfected by now to make appropriate sized donuts. We usually don't go often to this place as it's bit far, but sometimes weekends we go in the mornings, as it's weekends morning it'l be bit packed up but service is okay. I went by on St. Patrick's Day to try the green doughnuts. The young female employee asked how she could help me. I asked for one doughnut. The employee did not move or say anything. Wouldn't give them the one star if I could avoid it. Pull up to the drive thru, order a hot chocolate. They don't have it. Ok, do they have mocha lattes? They do. Can I have a hot one? No, we only have frozen. Do you have any hot lattes? No, we only have drip coffee. Can I have one of those with milk? No, we won't give you milk in it, you have to pour the milk yourself. Seriously??? It would be one thing if they were polite about the fact that they had nothing we wanted, but they were rude about it. We left with nothing and will never be back. read more

I used to come in to this place each weekend for a dozen donuts for a kids class I teach. I'd order a coffee for myself, and because of COVID and not wanting to touch more things that needed and to socially distance, I'd ask them to put a splenda in the coffee. This went on for months, until one day a cashier told me she wouldn't put the splenda in my coffee -- I'd have to do all of that myself. Now this is of course something they do for the drive through customers. The packets of sugar etc are right next to the cashier, its minimal effort for them to do it, and it helps avoid me spreading or taking germs from others that touched that coffee bar. I told her if she wouldn't put it in my coffee, I didn't want the coffee. She asked a manager to come over to remove it from the bill. The manager didn't ask if there was an issue. Didn't seem to care what was going on. Just keyed in the code then walked back to where they were previously. This place definitely suffers from a customer service problem. I placed a online order for a box of three donuts consisting of a batter, lemon filled and, a regular glazed and a single raspberry outside of the box order. In the box the didn't give me the batter donut but something different and also forgot my raspberry. Just stopped in for National Coffee Day and had to review my experience. Although it was an incredibly brief interaction, the gentleman assisting me at the drive-through was absolutely the sweetest! Very friendly and personable and my wait time was basically non-existent. Now, I did not actually enter the building as I opted for the drive-through, but I was greeted promptly and efficiently. No complaints here - a very pleasant interaction! When I pulled up to the window, he already had my hot coffee with one cream ready to go so there wasn't really any wait time. He was so jovial and polite with such a great attitude and a happy smile. I rarely go out of my way for events like this, but I am very glad I did just so I can leave this review for Ernest.
