I hate to write this review and I would really like to love this place, but I just can't! Me and my daughter popped in there one night! I was hesitant after my last experience there, but I thought ... give it another try. Which ended up leaving plates of food uneaten and a waste of time and money! We ordered tuna Sushimi and there was only three tiny pieces of tuna and it wasn't fresh. We also ordered a roll which wasn't edible at all! We made a complaint and the waitress was argumentative and unwilling to accommodate! I was in complete shock! Also the table next to us was a big group and they were disappointed with their food as well. They sent back three of their dishes due to lack of freshness and made not to their satisfaction. This place needs a lot of updating on the decor, food, and customer service! Please avoid!!! read more

No wonder 3 and half star for a sushi restaurant! I am regular , like the taste but service absolutely trash! Came in today order 1 baked roll and 1 hand roll. i asked before ordering how long it will take, the guy said 20 mins, so i ordered. After 30 mins, i went in and ask have to wait 5 min to get hold of the server, said coming out soon. and waited another 15 mins not yet. After showing anger finally 55 mins waited and got the order. Gone downhill over the years. Prices remain high. My son and daughter got the nigiri deluxe dinner but I ended up eating my son's. The fish was way below the standard of what I would expect in this place. Seems like the chef's choice is what is about to go bad. It came with a tuna roll, which apparently, is where all the outdated tuna goes. The roll was flat out bad. I had Salmon, 911 roll, and rainbow roll to share. The Salmon was pretty good but the rolls were as mediocre as any grocery store sushi. Maybe less than grocery store. Service was good, sushi was bad today. I already went to Kuma sushi twice. Both with very important relatives and they were quite happy about the quality and the service. Honestly speaking I am still not sure how should I score this place. My impression about sushi is four stars but the other appetizers were more than good and I gave them five stars overall tentatively. You would better try oysters, raw is best but fried is also delicious. Fried soft shell crabs was so tasty. Beef tataki would be your surprise. I only have eaten just one fourth of their menu. I need to go at least every week to understand this restaurant more. But it means I am so attracted to this restaurant? Maybe yes. read more

This place is located in a large shopping center next to the 210. This place is more for Americans. Stand there for 15 minutes during dinner and you'll know what I mean. There were only two other people at the restaurant, we weren't really hungry so we ordered the combo which comes with 4 peices of California, Crunch, Spicy Tuna, and Rainbow rolls. It came with miso soup and a salad all for $14.95. Seems like a good deal, soup met expectations and the salad dressing was great but my partner said it was a bit too sweet. The combo was great, all the sushi had good flavor expect for the spicy tuna which had carrots in it. The roll (pictured below) wasn't tight and the ingredients kinda slip out from the rice but it tasted fresh and I wasn't left disappointed. We're not huge on volume, so the combo was more than enough for us two. Overall, I recommend you try this place out, it's not the best sushi place in town but you won't be disappointed. I'm looking forward to trying their non-sushi menu and specialty sushi next time. read more

The Rainbow roll was awful. I often get this roll, but I wanted to try it at a different place since I moved recently. It was not good, like the fish was near flavorless like it was old and the rest of the roll was just saturated with avocado. Before Covid-19 would eat at the sushi bar at least once a week with my family or wife. During Covid ordered at least 10 times to go. Went for Fathers Day today and had the worst experience ever. We were the first ones at the Sushi Bar and I ordered 4 pieces of sushi. Took 20 minutes for me to get 2 pieces and 2 yellowtail carpaccio for my son and wife. After asking twice where my other sushi was I never got it and the other rolls we ordered were given to us 30 minutes later. We were at the sushi bar for more than 1 hour and 20 minutes. My Father's Day was ruined and we left with me only have 2 pieces of sushi. UGH! Guess the loyalty we have shown Kuma since they opened means nada. Guess we will have to find another sushi place. They do have good, fresh sushi that is quality. Just think attentiveness and service was a fail. The Owner was the one behind the Sushi Bar and never acknowledged us. Pretty sad! read more

I am irritated. I placed an order at 6:30 but it did not get my food till 7:30. I was told the food was going to done at 7:00. So when I called to ask why it was late, they explained that there was a lot of grub hub orders that came in at the same time so our order got mixed in there. My husband, who picked up the food, said it felt like they were more concerned about the grub hub orders rather than doing the orders by when the calls were placed. I explained we are locals and have been loyal customers and if the order was going to take longer than expected, they could have called us and let us know. Ps. We have been here a few times and after the last time will not be returning. We came here to eat on a weekday, it was more crowded than usual so I expected a slightly longer wait time, but not the two hours we were there. We ordered immediately and about 45 min-1 hour later, the server asked us what we ordered and obviously forgot to put in our food. We sat another 35-45 mins after that before we got our food. I really hate to write this but WOW... sashimi salad with 1 piece of itsy bitsy salmon and 10 little cubes of poor quality Tuna. Yep, you too can order this crap for $20 bucks (including tip). One of my Japanese parents of my soccer team took me here and he ordered in Japanese! What was made from sashimi's to rolls was outstanding. I wish they had more outside seating but when covid is over and we get back inside then the sushi bar is the place to sit and have some the best foods and entertainment! They filleted a blowfish in-front of us and what detail and precision taking the whole skin of in one piece! Great service and very friendly, especially if you speak Japanese! The sushi is fresh, creative and flavorful. Simply delicious! They also have some great non-sushi alternatives. Toro... here is legit... nice and fatty and melts like a puffy cloud flavor explosion in your mouth... They hit the fish market quite and bit and if you become a regular they will even pick up a special request if you ask the sushi guys.... the Sushi bar is always the best spot to get what you want... some of the best Sashimi and sushi Not a huge roll fan but will try anything once or twice to change the scene.... Service has always been top notch every time we here... not sure why I never reviewed this earlier... Little nephew and niece love the soft shell crab here... and i have stolen a few bites from them to say i agree.. It was a weekday around 6pm so the restaurant was not busy at all. We got seated immediately. We ordered two servings of the chicken teriyaki, white rice & California rolls for the kids and several rolls for my husband and I. We asked the waiter what he suggested and he was clueless of the items on the menu or what fishes were in them. We waited 45 minutes for our meals. And they didn't all come in at once that was just the 1st roll. They kept bringing the 4 rolls we ordered through an hour and a half span. Rolls were all meh. When we got home we all had to rush to the restroom (tmi) were we all spent taking turns all night. Never again! read more

One of your typical American fusion Japanese restaurant. It's nothing special. One of the good things on their menu would be the crispy rice dish. It has a little rice ball, grilled/fried rice ball, that is crispy on the outside topped with spicy tuna and avocado. With a piece of jalapeno. It's pretty good, but a dish for about $10 with only 4 little pieces. Also got the Chirashi sashimi deluxe .. $16 for a little bowl of small-cut sashimi (10 assorted pieces) .. they were very small, not that they aren't fresh, but they're not super good either. It was way too expensive for the quality and quantity they give. The sushi rice was good though. California roll, so very tiny as well, $5.95 for a small little roll, I can get it with the same price but much bigger and better somewhere else. Would not be coming back. It's eight o'clock on a Friday night. Feeling a bit adventurous and craving sushi, I found myself at Kuma Sushi. Nestled up against the 210 freeway and Campus, Kuma at first glance looked like your typical sports style sushi bar. The beige interior with painted Japanese mural was nice but that was all as far as ambiance. The staff was very friendly. A bit eager to get my order in at first. I didn't know if they were trying to get rid of me in a hurry or were excited to place the order. I was pleased to see a variety of specialty rolls among the more traditional Japanese menu items. While taking time to read the entire menu, I carefully placed an order for the Cajun Ono and some Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. Both orders were of both great taste and good quality. There were plenty of reason why I would want to come back to Kuma Sushi so next time I will bring the wife. Good job Kuma, we will be back. read more

Had the crunchie roll, California for the kids, Caterpillar roll, and I've also had the monkey balls from here. Crunchie roll was ok. Nothing terrific. California is well... I would give this place a "C" rating overall. The gyoza is awful, and that is hard to do. Very mushy and bland. The 911 roll and the Albacore roll are really good. The spicy tuna roll is also good. The Caterpillar is ok. The rest we had were fishy and gross. The rolls fell apart when picked up. Not enough good to offset the bad. I will try other places next. It was also VERY expensive for what it is. We paid 90 bucks for 4 specialty rolls and one tuna roll. The service was good and friendly, and the sushi was quick. read more

Won't be back! Horrible service-slow, inattentive, and forget bringing food out in a timely manner. Over an hour and they were still piecemealing the food to us. Asked us if we wanted a water refill after we were done... Were they busy? Nope! Must have had a full restaurant!??! Nope! Short staffed? Nope! Just crappy service and so-so food.
