One of your typical American fusion Japanese restaurant. It's nothing special. One of the good things on their menu would be the crispy rice dish. It has a little rice ball, grilled/fried rice ball, that is crispy on the outside topped with spicy tuna and avocado. With a piece of jalapeno. It's pretty good, but a dish for about $10 with only 4 little pieces. Also got the Chirashi sashimi deluxe .. $16 for a little bowl of small-cut sashimi (10 assorted pieces) .. they were very small, not that they aren't fresh, but they're not super good either. It was way too expensive for the quality and quantity they give. The sushi rice was good though. California roll, so very tiny as well, $5.95 for a small little roll, I can get it with the same price but much bigger and better somewhere else. Would not be coming back. Do not use GRUBHUB. There is a 30% fee for each item even if you pick it up. I learned the hard way by having to pay over $20 more. Just wait till they open then call them and order. If you don't compare their regular menu vs the prices on GRUBHUB you will not realize they are charging you for using their service. This is not even disclosed when you order. Unfortunately we decided to dine here and what a disappointment that was. Walked in about 5:30 pm and not crowded at all. Plenty of open seating. Started off good with menus, drink Order and appetizer. Received our drinks and then placed our order and waited. Kids got their food and asked for napkins and serving ware. Kids food was burnt and needed a little help. We finally got the rest of the order 45 min later and was not very good. Still have not received napkins or utensils. Not once asked for any more drinks or refills. We went to another unoccupied table and got some napkins and chop sticks. Still waiting for wasabi and ginger and soy sauce dishes. It's eight o'clock on a Friday night. Feeling a bit adventurous and craving sushi, I found myself at Kuma Sushi. Nestled up against the 210 freeway and Campus, Kuma at first glance looked like your typical sports style sushi bar. The beige interior with painted Japanese mural was nice but that was all as far as ambiance. The staff was very friendly. A bit eager to get my order in at first. I didn't know if they were trying to get rid of me in a hurry or were excited to place the order. I was pleased to see a variety of specialty rolls among the more traditional Japanese menu items. While taking time to read the entire menu, I carefully placed an order for the Cajun Ono and some Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. Both orders were of both great taste and good quality. There were plenty of reason why I would want to come back to Kuma Sushi so next time I will bring the wife. Good job Kuma, we will be back. read more

Had the crunchie roll, California for the kids, Caterpillar roll, and I've also had the monkey balls from here. Crunchie roll was ok. Nothing terrific. California is well... California roll, kids loved it. Caterpillar roll was pretty good. Monkey balls are delish. ... For the 3 rolls I paid about $27 I would have been good without the crunchie roll! It's a nice place, they do not have an all you can eat menu though. There sushi is good but not as good as a few other spots I prefer to go to in Rancho Cucamonga. Just threw away 102$ worth of disgusting sushi in the garbage. What a waste! Our entire family loves sushi and wanted to support a local sushi restaurant in our area! While I read the reviews from previous customers and how bad their experiences were, I chose to ignore and taste for myself. What a terrible mistake I made. It was very very disappointing to find that this place took forever, they were rude, misunderstood my order and then literally through sushi rolls in boxes. Even the California rolls we got for our kids (which they love) were gross. Me, my husband, and my daughter instantly spat out food out as we tried our first bites.The rice was falling apart and was put together poorly. You could find better tasting sushi rolls for cheaper at a grocery store. I wish I could get a refund because we spent quite a bit for crap and ended up ordering pizza. One of my favorite sushi restaurants. I'm from Corona but it's worth the drive. Salmon Carpaccio is delicious and you can't go wrong with a crunch roll. All the food is fresh and you're in and out quickly and content. This place gets really busy in the evenings and definitely over the weekends. Go here for lunch and dodge the traffic. Only down side is they don't offer all you and can eat sushi but I completely understand why.. it's sooo good people would eat them out of house and home. MUST TRY! read more

This is probably our favorite Japanese food restaurant nearby. We love their fresh sushi and free edamame. Their bento boxes come with a soup and a salad. I personally love their salmon teriyaki it's so fresh and grilled wonderfully. I also enjoy having their chicken katsu with extra katsu sauce. The katsu is crispy and the chicken flavorful. Their tofu is delicious with their sauces. The rice is always cooked fresh and it's a very clean establishment. The service is very good and they give generous portions of their food. My Family and I visit Kuma almost weekly. We always sit at the sushi bar and order off of the special menu which is the hand written fresh seasonal selection of seafood. The customer service is always attentive and gracious, the sushi chefs are consistent in delivering fresh cuts of sashimi/sushi. My kids love all of the beginner sushi items but the wife and I splurge on Blue Fin Toro, Aji, Hamachi, Kanpachi, Kinmedai, Uni, Ikura, Monkfish liver, Japanese Scallops, Oysters and so much more. Starting off waited over an hour for the food, service was nonexistent. When the food arrived it was a pretty big let down the Quality of the food fell off a cliff since after covid as well as the service. The rolls that I was used to where mediocre at best the Bsc roll was topped with what tasted like bread crumbs and the lobster roll tasted like crayfish. My father who was with me when he asked a question on literally over three occasions was ignored. Great service. Mediocre food. Stick with the raw/ cold options if you eat here. Ordered dinner box, (beef teriyaki, mackerel, tempura). yaki soba, and lobster roll. Great sushi spot, unassuming location...never thought I would get such great sushi from a shopping center joint. Fatty Tuna/Toro never disappoints, Salmon sushi is always fresh, and Sashimi salad is on point and the Kirin light is always frosty cold. Hours are actually 11:30am-2pm for lunch mon-sun. Dinner hours sun-thurs are 5pm-9pm. Friday/Saturday 5pm-9:30pm. Currently they are closed for only takeouts until the san bernardino county opens. Went here with the family for lunch. Wanted some sushi so gave this place a shot. Was disappointed with the sushi selection. The lunch box was okay and the sushi roll I got was cut in big pieces and hard to eat. My fiancé didn't like the sushi and ended up getting it to go instead of finishing. The service was good but better sushi places to eat around the area for better sushi selection and better priced. Won't be returning and I will just stick with my other sushi spots. read more

Food was terrible and above all else, the service was horrendous! We came in for lunch, party of 4, me, my wife, and my two young ones. By the time all of our orders have been served (1 hour later, super slow) and we've pretty much finished most of it, my daughter's steam eggs have not arrived. We nicely asked our waitress to check, and she gave us the rudest response ever. So I asked for the manager and was told the manager doesn't come in the restaurant frequently. I noticed the rude waitress kept going in the kitchen prior to serving the steam egg to us (after 1.5 hour wait), and we come to find out the steam egg had at least 3 tablespoons of salt poured into it. I am half Japanese and damn well aware how Japanese steam eggs are made and taste like, but this was purposely nuked with salt to mess with us. Remind you that this was made to serve to my daughter. good thing I checked the egg first and determined it was not edible. No one in the restaurant including the sushi chef did anything to remedy the situation. From coming in, to sitting down to ordering, we were never rude to the waitress, but she did an amazing job of being rude to us and we also noticed she was doing it to other customers, a few of them looked at us and shake their head as they acknowledge her service was horrendous. The waitress was a skinny Asian girl. Steer clear of her, well, steer clear of this restaurant entirely. We just moved to Rancho and this sushi spot was the closest to us, but from now on, we will not ever come to this restaurant again. read more

I usually never give 5 stars. However, I honestly think Kuma Sushi deserves it. At first you may think that the prices are a bit too high. However, the high quality they put out and the amount of food on the plate will not disappoint you for paying so much. I hate it when restaurants charge so much and it's not even worth it. Here, it is DEFINITELY worth it, plus some more. This place is not just for sushi lovers but also for those who are in the mood for non-sushi dishes such as katsudon, tempura and teriyaki. The restaurant was not that busy and there were plenty of open tables. The table we were sat as was dirty. Dishes were dirty. Definitely a bit pricey here but I haven't been too disappointed. Not every sushi place has gindara black cod so that's a plus :) they also have chawanmushi here which isn't served at every sushi joint. We visited Kuma because we were out shopping in the Colonies on a Bed, Bath and Beyond/Kohl's/Target run, and were starving for some Japanese food. We went here before, I liked it, but my husband just thought it was okay, but for now, i'm going to rate this place as if it was the first time I'd been here.... So the place was pretty busy, considering the slipping economy that is in the tubes in the IE, but apparently there is a following of the sushi chef- he seemed really nice, recognized some of the customers that came in, they were probably regulars. We ordered ALOT of food. Remember, we were starving! I like the menu that they have combos where you can order 2 or 3 main items and it comes w/ that salad and the creamy miso dressing, miso soup and rice. The dressing to me was on the thin side, but good. We started off w/ the usual, tekka maki, tempura crunch roll- and the edamame that comes free! (Love anything free). These were all really good. I commented that it's nice to have sushi w/ crunchy nori, vs. the kind that have been on the roll so long that they are chewy. Anyways, our order came- daughters was tempura udon- they broil the bowls so hot that the soup is still bubbling on the side of the bowl. Really cool! The tempura is good there, not great. The sata imo was on the undercooked side, but everything else was good. Good selection on the combos, saba miso mackrel, miso salmon, shrimp & vegie tempura, teriyaki, etc. Anyways, so here is the "eeeh" part... You know for me, service, service, service... I say it again... In this economy, a restaurant can't slack off on that part. The service here was just okay. Not really friendly- just sort of efficient when you asked for things. I've had better service. This isn't a Chinese or Korean restaurant afterall, where i'd expect that kind of service! At least, I didn't think that Kuma is Korean owned... anyways... we spent about $80.00 on dinner for 2 adults and one child, so we put away some food- took some home w/ us for a lunch, and were stuffed. Absolutely fantastic! This is the exact type of delicious, flavorful, and spunky sushi I'd missed while living in northern California. I'm so glad this place is so close to home! I came with a friend on a Sunday night and we were shocked to see it was packed and that there was a wait. It was well worth it; we both had great food and left extremely satisfied. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's brand-new and in a shopping center anchored by the usual chains. It is truly a gem for Upland. read more
