The food was okay. I saw it had great reviews so I was excited to find a new good sushi spot in the area. Honestly, I'm disappointed. I got two roles, both tasted the exact same and fairly bland. I can think of tons of other spots in the area where the sushi really impressed me. The ambiance is really nice and the service was fairly quick. There was only 3 occupied tables with a fairly small group. I ordered: The Hot Girl 6/10 Kiss of Fire 6/10 I'll give them a try again but next time try other sushi and their hibachi. Maybe there were having an off day. Tip: They have lunch deals for great prices during the week. Lunch ends at 3pm I believe

This is my favorite go to sushi spot in the area. Service is always excellent. They're usually pretty busy so make a reservation ahead if you're planning to eat there for any special events. They do have enough seating but usually it's taken.

As a frequent sushi eater- I can confidently say that this is my number one favorite sushi restaurant in the area. From the vast selection they have on the menu to the always quick and efficient seating/tabling- this is the best. I have been going to Kumo Sushi since before the pandemic, so for at least 4 years now and haven't had a bad experience. I highly recommend the incredible huck roll (middle round dish in photo), that is a crowd favorite! I also recommend trying their cocktail drinks (not pictured) as I've had a few over the years and they're delicious. While the price range isn't cheap, the quality and experience make up for the price in of itself. I tend to come on birthdays and anniversaries to make it feel even more special for the higher price! Overall: I continue to come back and always recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family!

Reston Foodies Facebook page recommended this restaurant so one evening my dining partner headed out to Herndon to check it out. It seems to be in a really nice area - part of an outdoor walking shopping area - and once we found it, discovered there is a lot of parking in a large lot right across their door. It's bright, clean, and spacious inside. Service is fast and friendly. Sadly we weren't that excited about the food. The salad was overdressed and our sushi was meh. We didn't order anything fancy - maybe that's why? Also the teriyaki tofu dish was entirely deep fried - yech. If I knew that I would have tried the hibachi tofu, I hope that's not deep fried as well. Maybe we didn't order the fan favs.

I come here often and always have a great experience! The sushi is fresh and there are tons of creative specialty rolls. We got one with thinly sliced apple in it which was delicious. I brought my 4 year old for the first time and I kid you not he said "why is the waitress so good??"

KUMO is BACK!!!! Today, we celebrated a birthday at Kumo in Herndon and we all had a great experience. The hospitality and service was excellent. The servers were super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Rock Shrimp and Calamari for appetizers(our favorite was definitely the Rock Shrimp!) For our shared entrées we got the Love Boat for 2 , Dragon Roll, Incredible Hulk Roll, and a Dancing Dragon Roll. For a table to 5 people, we could not even finish all the delicious sushi in one sitting. The sushi chefs did a great job with plating and making everything feel so fancy. Price is really reasonable and the quality of fish is superb! The reason I said "Kumo is Back" is because they have been closed during the pandemic and recently just opened up for dining for a few months now. Totally recommend this place for a warm and enjoyable family sushi night! The servers also gave us ice cream on the house! So sweet of them. We're so glad we finally got a chance to come back after a few years! Also my husband said his Filet Mignon Hibachi entree was by far better than other places! Go to Kumo for Sushi! Must try!!

I love love love Kumos sushi! I at least have a sushi night with my girls once a week and Kumo has never disappointed. I typically love getting their dragon roll or spicy California roll. Everything on the menu is delicious and I can't ever get enough of their sushi.

Sushi and Sashimi Combo even got my 8yr old to eat one of the tuna rolls!

This place was very good. Went there on a Monday night around 8pm and very few people in there. This let us get great service. The udon noodles tasted great, just a slightly bit oily, but still very good. The sushi & sashimi was well presented and tasted perfect. The waitress did a great job and super attentive.

We've visited this location about four times already, and Greg has been our server every time. They were extremely accommodating and always on top of everything. Also, thank you for the adorable plushie! I loved the usage of paned window walls to let in more natural sunlight, allowing for a vibrant and warm visit sitting inside. Notes: Wasn't the biggest fan of the pink lady roll; thought the usage of soybean paper was unique but the texture was off. The end piece of my rainbow roll only having cucumber was also disappointing. The hot bar selections and sushi rolls were decent but nothing to write home to. HOWEVER, the large selection of quality sashimi cuts included in the dinner AYCE with great portions was the best part. Most restaurants would offer it as a la carte or give small cuts/selections so was pleasantly surprised. Service wise wasn't the happiest with where I was seated as the floor was still wet but the servers had to trek over it as well (should've been more adamant on sitting elsewhere).

I was glad to see that a Japanese restaurant had recently come to Reston Town Center. Apart from a…read moreramen place, It had been years without one. When Kusshi opened, we gave it some time to settle in. We were here on a Sunday for an early dinner. Even though we arrived early (around 4 p.m.), a few tables were already occupied. As we entered the place, a party of four was right behind us. So it seems popular. After looking at what was available (the menu is a la carte), we placed our orders. We started with our drink orders. I ordered a hot cup of genmaicha, only to be told they were all out--bad news on such a cold day. The server offered to bring me a hot cup of barley water, which I declined and stuck with tap water. My husband ordered a Kirin Light beer. For an appetizer, we chose shishito peppers, and we both ordered miso soup. The sizable portion of peppers was well-grilled and flavored. Shishitos are tricky. For the most part, they are mild peppers. However, like Anaheim peppers, sometimes a hot pepper shows up. The first two I ate, oh...they were hot. The rest were mild. We ordered miso soup. It arrived steaming hot. It was excellent. It was a larger serving than what most Japanese restaurants provide. It had a generous amount of tofu and green onions. It was almost a meal in itself. For my main course, I chose a "rainbow roll" which consists of: "California roll with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail". It was a very generous-sized roll, well assembled. The wasabi and ginger portion was quite adequate. A bottle of low-sodium soy sauce is placed on the table. I really enjoyed this roll. My husband ordered the "Teriyaki dinner" which consists of "grilled protein, stir-fried seasonal vegetables served with steamed rice and teriyaki sauce. The choice of proteins are chicken, salmon, or shrimp. He chose chicken. It was quite a sizable portion, so we took some home to have for lunch the next day. At one point during the meal, our server brought us each a cup of hot barley water (to make up for not having hot tea). Since barley doesn't agree with me, I passed on it. Overall, the service was very friendly and efficient. The vibe definitely says "Japanese restaurant" with the decor and the requisite sushi bar. One drawback is the sound level. And, yes, we will go again.

We've had plenty of bad experiences with Chinese buffet seafood making us feel sick--pretty sure I'm not the only one--but that has never happened here. The food is always freshly steamed and served hot when you order. I'm not a big fan of overly salty, heavy American-style seasoning, so I really appreciate that they can prepare it without all that. Also, my daughter doesn't eat much seafood, but they're flexible and let us order something simple like a mozzarella stick for her, which is a huge plus. Yes, there's an 18% gratuity for parties of 5 or more, but it feels fair for the quality and service. The gumbo you can order on the side is amazing, and the crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimp are all fresh and delicious. It's $58.99 per person, which isn't cheap, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend.
