Kunjip Tofu is probably my favorite tofu stew spot in the Bay so far. The whole place is super clean and the interior is really nice, which already makes it feel a step above most spots like this. The tofu stew is so rich and decadent in the best way. I got the beef tofu stew and the flavor was really strong and satisfying. It just hits when you're craving something warm and comforting. The kalbi was also really good, though it is on the pricier side. They also give a ton of banchan, I think around 10 different ones, and they were all pretty good, they even gave a mini pancake. There's a lot of variety and I love eating lots of different items in small quantities. Service was smooth and efficient. I would definitely come here more often if it was closer to me. read more

I ordered the Kalbijjim and the black cod to share. The kalbijjim was excellent - the meat was very tender but did not disintegrate and the sauce was extremely flavorful. I also ordered the black cod which was flaky and buttery. I normally do not love fish but this black cod had no fishiness but had excellent flavor. Each came with a whole tray of banchan that they kept refilling. Their kimchi is lowkey some of the best in the Bay Area. Service was amazing, the restaurant was clean and very inviting. They also have a parking lot to make drivers coming from the city's lives easier. Overall, you should come here for some amazing Korean food and service. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so go early if you're going for lunch or dinner as the line seem long when we got out. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating. We had two babies with us as well. Our waitress got us cute little onigiri from the kitchen for my 10.5 month old daughter which was super tasty! We were all jealous lol. This is what I'd call everyday elevated Korean cuisine. Meaning the menu items aren't exotic, deconstructed, or otherwise pretentious as a means of justifying the higher than typical pricing - but elevated in the sense that the ingredients are top notch like using wagyu beef for their dishes. I had the wagyu bulgogi bibimbap, and it was delicious, delicately seasoned, with more subtlety than you'd normally experience with bibimbap. The ban chan is composed of many different dishes, similarly delicately flavored. I think if you're looking for something a bit special and well thought out, where the service is friendly and exceptional and the food is nuanced, this is a great place to try. Is it pricey - yes, a bit, but is it worth it? To me, it is. You leave feeling not just full, but satisfied in more than a "I'm full now" basic level of satisfaction. The decor is classy and also elevated - more upscale than normal and everything feels new and clean. So a really great Korean restaurant to me, and right up my alley. There are plentiful banchan options (side dishes). From the usual kimchi to more innovative offerings, including abalone. You can get refills for most of them. Don't sleep on their tofu soup either! It's rich in flavor and soothing to the soul. Their rice is made to perfection with a little crisp on the edges. Whether you go with something more common as the spicy pork bulgogi or venture to try their oxtail, you will not be disappointed! When you come to this place, you are paying for the service and the experience (that's not to say that the food isn't delicious as well)! I got the mixed tofu soup ($27) and I loved it. The soup was so flavorful and the A5 wagyu was so soft and delicious. I also really really liked the snow crab. If I were to come back again, I would either just get the A5 wagyu tofu soup or snow crab soup instead of the mixed one. This place takes reservations and the servers are super attentive and friendly. They always asked if we needed anything and replaced the banchan very frequently. The selection of banchan is amazing and quite elevated than most other korean restaurants. They served quail eggs and silken tofu for one of them as well! They have a one entree per person policy. My partner and I came here for our 2 year anniversary and we had an amazing experience. It's difficult to put into words how much we liked this place. We ordered their seafood tofu soup and their wagyu galbi. Both dishes were soo good. Perfectly seasoned tofu soup, fresh seafood, great flavor. The wagyu galbi was so tender, so soft, it was like biting into a roasted marshmallow. So freaking good. But I think where they shine is their sides! Each side was unique to Kunjip, a couple of them had flavors I didn't expect and that was so fun to me. The pumpkin mash with fruits in side was surprisingly my favorite! I normally dislike pumpkin but this one was like biting into a sorbet it was so refreshing I loved it so much. We also got their wagyu tartare, it was also very good! The wagyu was so tender raw too paired with asian pair and light flavors, I wasn't a big fan of the rice cracker that was paired with it because it got soggy quickly, but otherwise still a solid appetizer. The service also was notably some of the best service I've had in a really long time! Snow crab twigim - perfectly battered and fried, soft meat, and delicious sauces Braised and stewed Chilean Seabass, jorim - perfectly cooked seabass. The texture was perfect. It goes well with rice. I definitely recommend getting this if you have never tried sea bass before. Snow crab bibimbap - the gochujang/ spicy sauce was on the side so you can add as much or as little as you'd like. Delicious snow crab and all the ingredients worked will together. I recommend passing on the abalone Galbi tang since the other restaurant has Galbi tang unless you really want abalone. It was delicious as always but my boyfriend wished he ordered something new and unique to this location. The banchan were yummy. The restaurant itself has an elegant and "large" atmosphere, as shown by the quite heavy door and spacious table areas. Between the three of us, we ordered two Sikhye Honey drinks, Galbi Jjim, Wagyu Bulgogi, and A5 Wagyu Tofu Soup. The honey drinks were too sweet for me but enjoyed by others as I brought the leftover home. For the rest of the dishes, they brought out an assortment of ban chan including fish cake and sweet pumpkin. The dishes were shared by us, and the Wagyu Bulgogi was my personal favorite for its juicy taste. After trying 2x, I spoke with an employee who gave me an estimated wait time of 1.5 to 2 hours and added me to the waitlist. Waiting area: Located outdoors, plenty of padded benches, complimentary hot drink machine (the ginger tea was too sweet for me, and I have a sweet tooth). After checking in, we were seated within 10 minutes. The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated, and so clean! Service was attentive. Totally worth the wait! I came to Kunjip Tofu on a Saturday night and the wait was 2.5 hours. It's that popular. Thankfully, you can check the live waitlist on Yelp, which helped a lot with planning. Very elegant Korean restaurant with high quality flavors, food, service, decor. I feel like the chef(s)? creating the menu put a lot of thought behind the quality of ingredients to use and how to pair different flavors together. The wait times can get quite long during popular hours (waited ~over an hour for 3 people Saturday at 1pm) and portions lean on the lighter side, but still a great place to dine and treat yourself! Their menu has spotlights on Wagyu beef. Of their entrees they offered tofu stews, galbi tang / seollontangs, bibimbap, galbi jjim, and galbi steaks. The Wagyu galbi had a tender texture and the fat actually had depth to the flavor. We had about 6-8 bite sized pieces and they come with butter lettuce and mushrooms / sauce to make a wrap with as well The mixed tofu soup was YUMM and my favorite dish. The seafood flavors were infused really well into the stew and paired nicely with the meaty / fatty wagyu flavors , the texture was not too watery they simmered well to reduce the water, and the octopus bits were cut small enough to be chewy little pellets. I also really liked that the seafood in the soup had no shells so you can just enjoy the soup without getting your hands dirty :)) The Wagyu beef bone broth was great too! very rich and came with coarse salt, pepper powder, and scallions to season to taste. The Food While some friends were visiting from SoCal, we all went out to Kunjip Tofu for dinner. I've been meaning to give this a try for a while, but didn't have a chance till now. I ordered their Snow Crab Tofu Soup, while my wife ordered their Waygu Bulgogi. The meal also came with a unique selection of Banchan (side dishes). The Snow Crab Tofu Soup was tasty, but it also had a noticeable crab flavor to it as well. The highlight of the meal for me was the banchan. It had uniqueness along with quality ingredients that taste good. Would want to return to try out their other items such as Bibimbap, Tang, and their Braise and Stew. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is off of one of the main streets. Though there is some parking, it's limited and you might need to park a bit away. The interior of the restaurant is well polished, with a modern design. It is not overly complex, and has a good amount of seating. The staff were professional, and the service was good. Their menu has a good selection of items to choose from, but it is not overwhelming. Though on the pricey side, they do use quality ingredients. If you are a fan of Korean food, would recommend to pay Kunjip Tofu a visit at least once. read more

Really beautiful renovation of the old Sizzler, then Cooking Papa. Friendly staff, very clean. The food was awesome. We had the mixed tofu soup and the spicy octopus bibimbap. No shortage of seafood, and loaded with the good bits! I've been to various Bay Area Korean spots however this one is far superior. The tofu soup broth was AMAZING, so rich, and loaded with protein. The bibimbap was one of the best I've had. I'd heard there was a caviar topped kimbap, but apparently that was just during the soft opening. Regardless, can't wait to come back and try more, or just get the same again, or both! read more

high scale korean food, that actually tastes delicious! i love the kunjip in santa clara, but if you are looking to enjoy some fancy korean food while impressing someone, this is your spot! the wagyu bibimbap was flavorful, juicy and tender meat. the rice was already mixed with the veggies in its form, so all you gotta do is take a big heaping scoop of that, then eat the meat and its perfect! also make sure to add the green and red sauce in your bibimbap! i love their seafood tofu soup here, you can really taste the immense seafood flavor in the soup. ban chan here is top tier, i really enjoyed the abalone and the kimchi. this is on the pricier side so please be aware of that, but the ban chan here is so scrumptious read more

We came here for my parent's 33rd wedding anniversary :) (nothing special is done for events though). It's flavorful, hearty Korean food in an upscale environment. The price point is on the high end - though I feel that it's reasonable as the portions are large and the ingredients feel high quality. They make a requirement for everyone at the table to get their own entree (no splitting!) so prepare to pay a pretty penny :) Excellent assortment of banchan - my favorite was the crab salad. I appreciated the staff rolling around carts full of banchan so you can get your favorites refilled ASAP. We tried the wagyu bulgogi set ($38), Mixed Tofu Soup ($28), Snow Crab Tofu Soup ($27), and Grilled Mackerel ($38). They also have bibimbaps and noodle soups we didn't try. The kimbap look amazing, but only offered on takeout. Staff was very polite and attentive. Korean fine dining aesthetic - with a stylish, sleek interior that felt luxurious. Had a great experience here, all the staff were very friendly and attentive when it came to refilling our sides. Would highly recommend joining the waitlist asap before coming. I ordered the bulgogi wagyu, it had a lot of flavor and was juicy. I loved how they had complimentary drinks for people who are waiting outside, you can have either hot chocolate or tea. Overview: Big Kunjip fan here, finally got to try their higher end sister restaurant out, and these are my thoughts: Overall HIGHLY recommend their Kimbap and Wagyu Galbi! They do have a yelp waitlist , but closes at 8pm I believe. We showed up at 9pm and had to join the wait list in person, but they still take your number and call you when your table is ready. More thoughts: Katsu Kimbap - (only for to-go) ordered this togo - perfectly seasoned, nice crunch, 1000% recommend , also comes in cute to go bag. And only 10$!! A steal! Seafood Pancake- a miss, lacked flavor and texture of your typical seafood pancake which I personally like, texture was that of a shrimp cracker Seabass Twigim - comes with two pieces, liked the crunch from the gamtae, thought it was ok The Wagyu Galbi - **** priced at 58$, 1000% meets the hype. I like how the menu specifies that it is salt based marinated, because I tend to not like marinated meats for being too sweet, but this one was minimally sweet, not too salty, and VERY tender! Pretty much 10 butchers quality meat - but this one is not as sweet as the 10 butchers galbi. The Wagyu Tofu Soup a miss unfortunately. I saw other reviews here saying it was also a miss, but I still wanted to give it a try , hoping they were wrong, but its true. We got our medium, still lacked spice and flavor, and it was not hot. Other Notes: They require each person to order 1 entre. Lots of Banchan here, standouts aside from their kimchi and radish here were their abalone banchan and sweet potato mash. All unlimited refills except abalone. They give a complimentary chestnut jelly dessert at the end which I enjoyed. Overall solid modern spot, with upscale korean cuisine, great service. read more
