Kura is a great place to go with friends. The quality is not bad but mostly we enjoy grabbing our own plates, the salmon toro and seared salmon mayo are good. Glad they're expanding more since this one is close by and we don't need to drive to Garden Grove or Irvine anymore. The toys are a plus and we go often for the anime collabs too. read more

I was having a hard time deciding on what would be the most accurate review for Kura Revolving Sushi Bar. So I will start with price: 2 adults FREE water to drink lunch was $91.75 ($15.00 tip) total cost $106.75 Our server was very nice, she explained the menu, explained the promotions and brought water several times. NOW THE FOOD... I honestly was NOT impressed by it. Comparing the cost to other sushi restaurants in our area, I do feel their prices are high. Specially because a sushi chef job is making sure the ratio of the neta complements the shari. Also sushi should be packed just firmly enough so it holds, it was hard for me to keep the sushi together. The ambiance is super cute. EXAMPLE they have little robots bringing water, plus watching the sushi on the conveyor belt is good for conversation. I would say this is a great place for a fun experience but not so much if you are seeking a meal prepared by itamae chefs. Please keep in mind that the prices here are not economical, therefore, in my opinion it is possible to spend $106.75 at a different sushi restaurnat and get higher quality sushi. read more

I had so many memories from the location over at Diamond Jamboree so I was really excited to find out that there was another one that opened up in Orange. My party of two was seated right away and we got to eating before we even got water. The only plates I ordered from the screen was the Salmon Nigiri. Everything else was from the revolving bar. While the servings may be on the smaller side, the affordability of each plate made sense. The quality of the fish was decent. Also, I got served by a robot on wheels for the very first time. Very conflicted feelings about that one, haha. As someone who is currently being very mindful about what I'm eating, it was a pleasant surprise to find that they post all the macros of each dish on their website. How awesome is that?! I have an update after going on a busy Friday night for dinner and there were a lot more people second time around. Reservations are still available on the Kura app and there was a slot for 8:40pm, which was about an hour from us leaving our place. However we did not get a table until 8:55pm. Killing time wasn't the issue. Their customer service was nonexistent today. I am giving 1 star for their lack of service every time we tried to call them on the screen for server help. We pretty much cancelled requests 100% of the time we tried to get a server come to our table. They never came. There were no chopsticks to begin with and I stood up to grab them myself from the server counter because we were waiting 15min for utensils. We tried to get refills for water, never came, even that robot which typically brings you the water didn't come until we checked out. Towards the end of our meal, there was not a single server on floor. It was almost as if they had gone home or something (they showed up right when we were leaving Kura). Food was still solid, the kitchen staff worked hard. They deserve the higher star rating. With the demand of the customers tonight and not having enough kitchen staff, a lot of the revolving sushis were empty and the orders were really backed up. This was the first time seeing a lot of the rotating sushi being empty the entire time (kitchen staff probably couldn't keep up with the full house of customers) and also customer service this bad that there's no attentive servers paying attention to all the server help requests (so many people were pinging them too). With all those in consideration, I am downgrading my review from 4 stars to 3 stars. read more

First and last time eating here. The staff was friendly, but their waitlist system is a disaster. Ppl left and clearly were nowhere in sight but the girl working the front kept calling the same numbers instead of moving on. BEWARE-they have "NO SRIRACHA", so bring your own if you are like me and have to have sriracha with your rolls and sushi. Portion sizes were extremely small for $3.95 a plate and flavor was subpar. This location is still fairly new so I can tell they're still working out the kinks with wait times, table seating (small vs big parties) and staff. Please be kind to the staff, I can see some can be stressed with the number of people bombarding them. Sign into the tablet and wait for your text or table number to the called. Simple as that. This location itself is very spacious. Parking is abundant and there is a covered waiting area right outside. Plenty of space for kids to run around or roam while you wait. Kura is my go to for a quick sushi fix without a long wait and when I don't want AYCE. It's also fun for our toddler because he enjoys watching the conveyor belt and seeing his sushi get delivered. If you need to make adjustments to your order you can inform the server. Davis greeted us and found us a table for 2. We used our app and rewards - who doesn't love earning rewards? The food was delicious and provides a variety of fun options. Great presentation and signage. You can either choose from the revolving conveyor belt or order from your personal table kiosk. You are charged a flat fee ($3.95) per plate. However, a few items have a higher charge, but it is noted at the time you order. Wasabi and ginger available upon request. Thanks Davis for making our first visit here special. We went for grand opening day and the sushi was fresh and tasted great. The rice was also soft but not mushy. We had a reservation but it still took around 20+ minutes for us to be seated. Love the food and gacha combination as with all Kura sushi locations. The one downside is that the wasabi here is different. At other locations, the wasabi has decent chunks in it and is stored in a container on the table. It tastes amazing, which was my favorite part of Kura. However, the wasabi here is not kept on the table (when requested, they give you a tiny half teaspoon) and it is the regular, cheap super market wasabi paste that is not nearly as good. read more

As the food started flowing Jayden was on top of making sure our beverages were refilled and checking up. My daughter kept bugging me to come here so i gave in, she's a big sushi lover and really wanted to try it out, so here we go. The location is awesome, it's where the old todai used to be, loved that place . There are two ways to the entrance which is nice. Looking through the windows it's cool to see the revolving sushi going round and round. Service could be a little better, when the drink robots have more personality than the staff, it's weird. The guy seating us looked like he really didn't want to be there, and in a restaurant where it's bubbly and anime themed , his attitude and demeanor was not passing the vibe check. The food was ok, for the amount of money that was spent for 3 of us, i would had rather gone to sake to me and got way more for sushi for the price. I get the idea/concept and the theme is cool, maybe for a one time place to go but i paid the price for the revolving gimmick. The lack of sushi was also a little disappointing, a lot of the plates were empty , so we couldn't really enjoy a variety. OMG! I was just talking about the one in Irvine and found out there is one here that just opened! It was meant to be. Located here at The Village Mall in Orange across from Panera. We had such a fun time at this place. It was definitely a hit! The inside was clean and brightly lit. The seating is booth style as you are relight next to the conveyor belt that rotates all the dishes. There is a order pad above for you to place orders from if you don't see what you like in the rotation. The robot brings you your drinks to the table. It was so fun! Kids will definitely enjoy it. When you finish with your dishes you insert them in the return slot built into the table and it automatically tallies your cost. I think at 15 dishes you trigger the little vending machine situated over conveyor above each table. We got a Tamagotchi microfiber cloth. They also have kid dishes. Deserts and ice cream. Will definitely be back and shout it from the rooftops. Erica was the best server! She made sure we had everything we needed and came back often to check on how we were. Love this place!! This is not my first time trying Kura but my first time at this specific location. I always love eating at Kura as you get to sample a variety of sushi, rolls, and side dishes for a similar price compared to a normal sushi restaurant. We happened to be in the area during opening day and decided to check the location out. It was busy but we were still able to get in at a decent time. The staff were mostly great for it being the first day but some staff seemed to be in a rush. Staff did not check in often on their tables and were running around with orders (a staff member even spilled a drink on a patron right next to us). As for the food, it was good like any of their other locations. However, I did order the takoyaki and when we bit into one, the inside was still fully frozen. The octopus was rock hard and still had ice chunks on it. I brought the attention to a staff member and she seemed to already know what we had to say because before I could speak, she said "is the inside still frozen?". Seems like they have a problem with this menu item not being fully cooked previously.. Overall, this specific location was good considering it was their first day open. I would attribute their flaws to it being their first day open and the staff getting use to the rush and menu items. If I am in the area again, I would give it another shot after the rush and hype is down. read more

I think this location is still a work in progress. Their Hand Rolls are a hit and miss. Seaweed used for the roll is never crisp. Always on the soggy soft side. No bueno. Today I ordered a crab, avocado hand roll. First of all I've never had a Japanese Hand Roll that was served in a "smashed " fashion. That's a fail for me. Next I looked inside the roll and pulled out a hair! Let the server know. Made me a new one (server was very polite) the new roll was served the same as my previous minus the hair. Chef told the server it wasn't a hair but strings from the crab meat. I've eaten enough crab to know the difference between a hair and parts of fresh crab meat. Anyway, disappointed that the restaurant didn't at least remove that roll from my bill. It would seem the right thing to do. I will keep trying but the Brea location is far better! Please teach your employees how to properly make a hand roll. In Japan you would never receive a handroll in a smashed style along with a wilted seaweed wrapper. read more
