I have been going to Kurts since I was a kid (at their old location just down the street). Best German food around, always a treat. The owners are so nice. Their new(ish) location doesn't look like much driving by but it has the cozy pub atmosphere and nice Biergarten patio on the side. LOVE their beer selection and large pours. Fairly good food. Great bread. But OMG did our waitress try to "suggestive-sell" like CRAZY. She offered every single conceivable "up-charge" known to mankind: specific "new" cocktails, appetizers, salads, desserts... etc!!! Can't folks just read the menu and make selections without pointing out every way for the bill (and thus the server's potential tip) to be increased? She didn't tell us the two dinner specials... but by God we got offered an avocado for my salad ("for only a dollar"!). Geez. Calm down and let us enjoy dinner. read more

Customer service is great - the owner is very kind and the waiters are available and super accommodating. The food is very flavorful and to my surprise, the desserts are of the same superior quality as the rest of the food. The steaks are great and the salads aren't just limp vegetables thrown together. This is by far one of if not my favorite restaurant in the metro-Atlanta area. My husband and I love German food and this is the place we think of when we crave it. They have the best, mouth-watering steaks that you will ever have the pleasure to enjoy. The food is absolutely delicious. Try the Chacturies appetizer. The staff if friendly and courteous. Had a wonderful time Saturday night. Food was excellent and service was flawless. Our server Samantha was terrific. Party of 8 (birthday) and we enjoyed it all - beverages, appetizers, entree and dessert. The best Bavarian experience we have had since traveling to Munich. The Jaegerschnitzle is delicious. Ate here A LOT but stopped going because the quality of the ingredients was becoming unacceptable to us. We really enjoy Kurt's wife who always greeted us with such warmth and the restaurant is very comfortable and cozy. However the kitchen seems to be cutting corners, portions smaller than they used to be and ingredient quality not what it used to be. read more

We have been supporting our local restaurants during our quarantine. They all were below our expectations and we did not return a second time. The exception is Kurts. This is the 4th curbside dinner we have ordered. Each time, the food was so delicious, just as if we were eating in the Bistro! I can not rave enough. Today we had the beef brisket. The meat was so tender, I could cut it with a fork. The gravy was seasoned perfectly. As always, their mashed potatoes are not instant. They have a daily special. I suggest ordering their specials. If you like German Food, Kurt's is a must, if you don't like German Food, you must still try Kurt's. While we didn't have the steak, they were boasting an award of Top Steak House in the County. We tried the German offerings, and they were excellent. Instead of a main coarse, I thought I would graze, so I ordered 2 appetizers as the main. The part ordered 2 appetizers, so by the end of the meal, I tried 4 appetizers. The best of all of the was mussels in a creamy sauce... awesome. The rest were very good too. This is my first time here. I chose the Easter Buffet ($45) because I figured to get more bang for my buck. There were 32 items on the menu for the buffet. This was an elaborate setup. I made a priority to obtain small portions of each item on my plate. It took several trips just to sample each item once. A carafe of German Reisling was obtained to make this even more special. I really enyoy cheese, so just the Artisan cheeses and Charcuterie Display was an undertaking by itself. The Deviled Eggs were excellent(who can eat just one?). I liked the Grilled Artichokes, Asparagus & Sweet Peppers, Balsamic Olive Oil Basil Marinette. It was not worthy of seconds though. However, the Old World Wurst Salad deserved more attention. I liked the wurst resting in sour kraut and other spices. It was served in cups for easier movement. This kept all the ingredients contained. There was also an Assorted Olives Medley to delve into. Then there was he Red Potat & Bacon Salad. This was very good. The potatoes,onions, and vinegar mixed well and the bacon was good fit. I really liked the Crab Stuffed Mushroom Caps. These also came in cups and were very flavorful. Since I still have not gotten half way through the menu items I tried a very small portion of the Local Smoked Mountain Trout dill mayonaise. On the Bistro Seafood Bar there was Steamed Shrimp, Lobster Claws, Blue Crab Fingers, Louisiana. I liked the steamed shrimp. It was tender and cooked well. The lobster claws were very good and cooked well, not rubbery(l broke from the original plan and had a few of these). Then there were the Blue Crab Fingers and Louisiana.so at this point I had to remind myself the need for dessert at the end. Next was the Curry Knockwurst which again I needed.....just a little more. If not to weaken my resolve I found the Crabmeat in a sherry cream sauce. This exquisite and decadent morsel was served in a shot glass. I made a special trip back for a few more of these(to share with my wife......of course). The Pear Tomato~Fresh Mozzaralla & Basil Platters was very good and flavorful. The mixture of the spices and cheese with the tomatoes was yummy. Assorted Sauteed Mushroom & Micro Greens Salad very good. However if I expected to last I went very light on these. It was very good. I made it to the Carving Station. I felt triumphant at this point having navigated this far though such delectable foods. My first meat to try was the Slow Roasted Leg of Lamb which was indeed a good choice. It was very tender and well seasoned. I also picked up two Broiled Lobster Tails. They were very tender and flavorful. Next was the Smoked Irish Pork Loin. This was just perfect. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Finally there was the Roasted English Roast Beef. I like beef, however, the lamb and pork loin were better. The Roasted English Roast Beef was even cooked the way I like it, medium and rare on the inside. Moving to Accompaniments the Eggs Sardou was tasty it is a poached egg atop artichoke bottoms, sauteed spinach and sauce hollandaise(need I say more?). The Maple Syrup Glazed Carrots were very good and that's coming from someone who does not like cooked carrots. The Cream Corn O'Brian was yummy and packing heat. Next, I had the Sauteed Brussel Sprouts and I was not disappointed. The Yukon Gold Wrapped Potatoes were great. It was hard not to go for seconds. I failed and had seconds on the Cream Corn O'Brian(that's life). I did not try the Aromatic Rice Pilaf at all. But I did venture to have theYellow Squash Souflee which was very good. I had a few pieces of the Southern Fried Okra just for taste. They were good, but there might be one or two more shot glasses(with oyster) in them. This took a much higher priority. Now it is time for a Plated Dessert and coffee. There was a Berry Mango Tart, Layered Chocolate Mousse, and an Apple Strudel w Ice Cream. ;-) The Berry Mango Tart was delicious. The mango was surrounded by a very light flakey crust. The Layer Chocolate Mousse w 2 types of chocolate. Cherries and chocolate shavings Berry Mango Tart was good but I am a chocohalic. Years ago when Kurt's was in a farmhouse I brought a German friend and he said the food was better than in Germany! That's when I knew I would love this restaurant forever! There new location is nicer but still feels like home. I went for my never ending birthday celebration on a cold, rainy Tuesday night in January. We arrived early and it was pretty empty. When we left it was packed! We ordered the bistro salad to start and we all agreed it was so delicious we could have had another for our main course. I always get the same main, wiener schnitzel with spatzale. Translated it's crispy breaded veal with German homemade spaghetti and a lemon butter sauce. It was just as good as I remember! One of my friends had the shrimp & scallop pasta AMAZING and my other friend had the chicken, it too was good. I was looking forward to the bananas foster for dessert. They make it table-side and it's fun and memorable. My friends surprised me with a birthday cake so I will HAVE to go back to get the dessert another time. Update 3/7/2018: another great visit with a coworker while in ATL on business. The food never disappoints, and neither does the service. My only regret remains hat this restaurant is not in my home town. --- Great people, great service, great food. My wife, two sons, and I had a great table. The service from our waitress was impeccable. Each course was delivered at exactly the right moment. We had the charcuterie plate, artisan cheese plate, and fondue to start as well as a very large pretzel. The one downside we encountered the whole night was that there isn't a kids menu with typical kids faire (American kids faire). Our younger children with us are 10 and 12, and somewhat picky eaters. As a result we loaded up on appetizers like the fondue which they really enjoyed. My wife had the salmon l'alsace and I had the jaegerschnitzel. Bring your appetite; the jaeger plate was a huge dish. Very good food matching or besting the best German food I've ever had. The red cabbage is easily the best I've ever eaten. We finished up with ice cream and strudel. I also had a cup of coffee, which was rich and strong, a perfect way to finish. We travel to the area somewhat frequently and plan to come back often. read more

While they specialize in German, they actually have a fairly broad menu and suit even the wimps who don't want to try something a little different. Unfortunately the experience we had at this place with Kurt the owner was terrible. We were a party of 10 and he treated us like we were an inconvenience. Not only he was disrespectful, but he raised his voice at us in the middle of our diner, gave us the look every time he walked by, and was very rude during our stay. All because 2 people couldn't show up and he kept saying how much that affected his night. We had ordered plenty of food and drinks, and it is completely out of line to treat customer's that way. We will never go back to this place, we have been better treated and served. This was a company gathering so for sure no one from the company will set a foot again in this place. We went for a birthday dinner, and I expected really good food from all of the reviews. Unfortunately, I ordered the Pork Shank, which I won't do again, if I ever went back. The waiter told me that the pork shank is something that is unique, can't get anywhere else, and is extremely good. when it came out, the skin is like fried pork skin, really tough, oily, and crispy. Inside the shank, there was a lot of fat. Also, the meat seemed to be just boiled then fried. The meat had no flavor at all, except a gamey pork flavor. I felt that it should've been flavored or at least had some BBQ sauce! hahah. My wife got the Mountain Trout which was much better. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish. I did have a taste of the battered veal cutlet, which was really good - I should've ordered that! read more

Doh! I hate writing bad reviews... But here it is... Sweetie and I used to frequent Kurts a fair amount back in the day when they were down the road at the larger 2 in 1 facility. They had a fine dining and a separate bar with patio area, and they even had a separate event building for special events like weddings. Ahhh, I miss those days. That was the best hang out... Really delicious food with stellar atmosphere. So, we have tried the new location three times now. The first was just a quick bite in the bar area, the 2nd was a fancy meal in the dining room, and the third, the most recent was at the beginning of the summer on their patio. Now I do have to admit that they have come a long way with the atmosphere on the patio. It's getting back some of the character of the old place... But unfortunately in a much smaller footprint. The staff is still as nice as they ever were, and Kurt even seems friendlier too (he seemed a bit stuck up or something? before, lol) Unfortunately it's been their menu that's taken a big hit. We're not a fan of the new doughy pretzels... We miss the old hard ones that went with the German beer so well. And the mustard samplers, well... They actually kind of suck, sorry! But again... Why did y'all mess with a good thing. We both had entrees that we used to have in the past... And again, they just weren't the same... They were a bit dry in comparison. I can't say that we won't ever go back... I'm sure some months or a year will pass, we will grow nostalgic, and try a beer and app at the bar and see if they've made any improvements... I usually don't leave a review. I ordered kurt's beer which was really good. Hoping to get very good dish, i ordered jaeger schnitzel. But the main course I got was real... Mushroom sauce was too salty I ate about 1/4 portion of schnitzel where was not with sauce but could not have anymore. I asked if they can cook it again for me. At first the lady at the restaurant was giving me a look as she doesn't get it.she went back to the kitchen and came back with theNewer version of the dish. Wow!!!it was just pour a little water on the original salted sauce and fried my original pork. So the mushroom was still too salty and some parts were burnt. And goulash with spaetzle. It was not flavor any goulash. Meat quality seems good but overall too expensive and not german style at all. Very disappointed my first visit. read more
