I don't like to ding a business on service so I gave a 3 star on this one. I took my truck in for an inspection. It is a 2 year old chevy silverado 2500 4x4. When they were finished, the truck was pulled oput of the garage and the oil pressure showed low and I could not get the transmission out of 1st gear. I don't know what happened inside the garage while it was plugged into the analyzer, BUT it came out damaged. I had it towed to the chevy dealership and they had to rebuild the transmission. I have never experienced this before, nor read about it, but I just dont see how it could have been coincidental. I have had oil changes done there many times and never had any problems. read more

i called over the phone to see if my repair was something kwik car could do. the guy on the phone said yes we can, just schedule an appointment! i explained it all to him & what parts i would be buying also asking if the parts i got will be correct & he says yeah that's perfect! i go to my appt a week later and the first guy i see looks like a HIGH deer in headlights (& i'm not talking mj) the second guy to help me simply says nope we need the whole assembly not just the replacement part. i explain that that isn't what was told to me over the phone & all he said was "you shouldn't have called & just come in because we have to see it in person, calling is pointless" i told him i should have been told that over the phone & before i have the chance to ask what he could do with the parts i had or what i actually needed to go buy, he JUST WALKS AWAY. he doesn't say sorry ma'am you were misinformed NOTHING. just freaking walks off. mind you i just woke my CHILDREN up sooner than they needed to be up & drug them to this appt just to be told in essence f*** off. if this is how women get treated at this location i wouldn't bother. ladies just go to your dealership it's the same price with less attitude. atleast there they appreciate us as customers. read more

The new management of this garage appears to have no common sense or respect for the health of its customers or the community at large. Although just weeks ago most employees were wearing facial coverings (the one that was not was questioned about the whereabouts of hers by an individual who appeared to have managerial responsibilities of some sort), today there was not a facial covering in site. I was met with resistance when I sought to pay for the work performed through a sliding window connecting the counter area to the open air garage, rather than entering a confined space with a cashier not wearing a facial covering. The representative, who appeared to have supervisory responsibilities, started spouting nonsense about HIPAA (a subject about which he clearly knew nothing) and tried to pick an argument by asking what product I used to sanitize my vehicle before a worker entered it. If this garage cannot muster the energy or common sense to observe facial covering requirements, there is no way they will ever have the opportunity to touch any of my vehicles again despite my years of prior patronage. read more

Went there to get a state inspection and waited for an hour and a half! Finally, the guy who was going to do the inspection pulls my car in to start; I had watched this guy standing around in the lobby for 20 minutes chatting with the receptionist before he decided to start the inspection. I don't know how good they are at repairs, but if you need a vehicle inspection, go somewhere else! read more

They didn't honor the quote for the tires, charged her for a more expensive tire and added an alignment that we specifically did not ask for. Great shop, trustworthy reps and techs and make you feel as comfortable as you possibly can! As a girl, sometimes it can be a little scary (and sometimes a borderline nightmare) to know it's time to take your car into the shop. This place is exactly the opposite. The guys that work there made me feel very comfortable and were very knowledgeable. They actually explained what was wrong instead of just throwing out a part name and telling me I needed it replaced. They weren't pushy. Just shared the information I needed to make an informed decision. This place does just about everything except tires, and I would recommend it to everyone. read more

Crooks! I went for a simple oil change, and when I got my ticket and went to pay, I found out they had done a flush-oit service, and my bill was oo get double what it should have been. I advised the manager, who continued to argue with me Dao n his tram wouldn't do that - I call BS. I reluctantly paid the bill and left... and wouldn't you know it... the next day I go by my office, and my car is jerking lime it wants to shut off, when I park at work, it does just that.... and then it won't turn on. Oh, of course, the shop is closed and now I have to wait to get a hold of someone. After several hours, I finally got a callback; at which time, they agreed to have my car towed back to their shop. Shortly after that, I get another call, while still at work (stranded), that now my car meds a $3k repair. I asked the manager to write up weekday it needs and why, and called enterprise to pick me up, because I knew I'd need a loaner. After 2 days, still hasn't received the report and/or a quote, but he kept asking b me to pay for the service upfront, so they could do it. BS. I went and picked up my car - and DROVE it to my house. I called a local mechanic, and expressed my concerns about driving my car over, he said he could come yo me first to try and diagnose. I popped the hood and within minutes he knew what was wrong. He ran to his shop to get a part, and was back in 10 minutes. Repair took 30 minutes max, and he charged me nothing. I gave him $150 just for netting amazing and honest. $3k my ass. And icing on the cake this incident occurred almost two years ago, and my car is still running amazing.... and I NEVER went back. Only reason I bring it back up now, is I had it appraised, because I wad considering selling it, and I got the highest outside because of how serious I a'am about the care of my vehicles, and keeping every service item ticket available in my car. Both times they have said that there are problems with the car when I know for fact that there are no issues - this last time we just had the car (this week) at our mechanic that we have used for 8 years who checked the car out as my son is leaving for college. I brought my 2010 MINI cooper to Kwik Kar after taking it to the MINI cooper dealership in Plano. The car only has 22000 miles on it and has been well cared for. I took the car to MINI because I was smelling a burning smell and the clutch seemed to have an issue shifting between neutral and first gear. MINI quoted me $4500 to replace the clutch and that was without a new fly wheel which I may or may not have needed. Additionally MINI told me I needed new brakes and a valve cap for an oil leak (an issue that I had brought the vehicle to MINI to fix twice before). The $4500 quote was ONLY for the clutch and nothing more. Kwik Kar was great. Initially they assessed the entire repair: brakes, clutch, fly wheel and valve cap for an entire cost of $3300 however once they removed the engine to work on the clutch they realized that the car didn't require a new clutch, only the servicing of it. The repair ended up taking longer than expected so they got me a rental car. Pete was great to deal with. He kept me updated with what was going on and they were very honest and transparent about the repair. Overall, it cost me $1400 for the entire repair including everything. I have taken other vehicles here for years and they have always been straight forward, honest, and done good work. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Well These guys were very rude and try to overcharge me ( Service has performed by (JONATHAN AND PETE ), when I asked how much is gonna be oil change they just tried to ignore me and told me don't worry we gonna take care of it , when I asked one more time they told me gonna be 35 $, and then they ended up show me a bill of 60 $ just for their cheapest oil , when I asked why ? They show me some shop fees and hidden fees that they haven't told me about that before , I complained and then I saw the guy was gossiping to manager about that and then they waive the fee but look at me with a very weird and disrespectful look , Seriously ? You guys sent me a coupon and didn't even tell me the truth when I was over there , and when i ASK for free carwash which was included to my service they just tried to ignore me or disinform me , So I would rate their customer service 0 out of 10 and their professionalism also , However I have to admit their oil quality and how they service my car was better than other oil change stores , But I would never go to that store again because of their crappy attitude. read more

The problem with great customer service is that when it goes away and you don't get it, the "bad" is then amplified. I've been using this location since it opened. Harry Price was the manager and is the ONLY person other than the builder of my car that I ever let work on my 65 Mustang Hot Rod. This location took care of my 4 cars, 2 for my son and his wife and 2 for my daughter and her husband. I think that we qualify as a good customer. Today, I went there for an oil change with a new car and had the displeasure of encountering the new manager. He was brusque, rude and kind of arrogant, and frankly not appropriately dressed as a store manager. When I asked him to clarify a recommendation he made regarding oil type, loudly and in front of a lobby full of customers, he said, "I don't really care what kind of oil you put in your car. But if you don't use this, it will void your warranty." I was never loyal to Kwik Kar, but I was loyal to the man who ran it who had good customer service and took care of his clients. I really would like to talk to the new owner of this location. I understand that they own 2 or 3 other locations. If this manager is the kind of person that they believe will grow their business, for which I'm pretty sure they paid a hefty sum for, I think they may be in for a surprise. For me, I'm out. The Kwik Kar at Preston an Frankfort is closer. So is the Valvoline Oil Change Center. read more

this place is great for everything from oil changes to major engine work. i've been coming here for quite some time now. i can honestly say that they stand behind their work and they will take care of you. i drive a lot for work so i'm here probably every other month to get an oil change. been there so much that the manager there, harry, greets me by name. never felt pressure from up sales there. they'll only let you know what you need done and not try to sell you on stuff you don't need. the best part of getting an oil change here is that you get a free car wash from simonez down the street. read more

I thought Kwik Kar is a name brand car shop which carries high standards, credibility, and integrity. But I was wrong. Look, I'm not talking about getting inspection or oil change, but when my car had some problems. My car had this tapping noise especially when drive slowly, so I took it to this car shop for inspection. They said with such an high confidence that it was the trust. Along with three other things they threw into the invoice, total (after their discount) cost would be nearly $1300. Well, if I make a lot of money and don't give a shit about over 1k dollar, I had probably already given to them. But really it was too much. Don't just stop reading from here. So I took it to a local car shop in north McKinney referred from a friend. And they said Kwik Kar inspected WRONG! I was like how could it be! So this heavenly place said it was the engine mount and fixed it for $270. And the problem was GONE!! Question for Kwik Kar now, if you "fix" the trust like you said and the problem still persist, would you still charge ME that $1300? I think you would. For older cars, you would charge everything you say because they are kind worn out and you would say you have done the work. How fair it is to consumers?! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! read more

Normally I never write reviews. Been going to Kwik Kar on Preston for at least 5 years for state inspections only. I have 4 vehicles I take there. (2 of them, fairly high end sports cars. Well high-end to me.) Everytime I am there, I feel pressured for an 'upsell' during the inspection. Wiper blades or "you won't pass" is one thing. Today was another. '07 solstice and was told will not pass inspection, will need wiper blades and front brakes are 'metal to metal.' I have a mechanic that does my work on all of my vehicles who is simply the best in the area. No mention was made by Kwik Kar about the rear pads/brakes? I went and looked at the pads in the front calipers which were on the shop floor, and spoke with the mechanic and I estimate 20-30% left on the pads. Certainly not metal-to-metal. I asked the mechanic, do you want me to get my calipers to measure the thickness? He then took me to a display and indicated the vertical grooves cut through the pads are 'wear marks', when they are in fact grooves to allow heat dissipation. (I assume this is a technique to upsell when the thickness is not down to the minimum allowable.) Did I get calipers to measure them right there, negative. Was the car at the wear marks or (squeaking due to wear indicators against the rotors), or sluggish in stopping power, negative. I measured the rears at home later, taking the wheel off, they are at 3/16ths and they have about the same amount of thickness as the fronts, yet the rears weren't mentioned when I asked. Yes, most of the braking power is up front. But I think the 'you won't pass' inspection intimidates people. Along with $300, customers will probably pay, $600 (of upselling), I'm sure most people---will walk. (Which I would have too.) Time is everything for me, so I went ahead and paid the $287 for the wipers, pads / brake job and to pass the state inspection. Bottom line, I am disappointed and it will be the last time I go there. Man---all over some wipers and pads install for around $224 (to make money). Geez. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Like many other consumers that were cheated here due to lack of auto repair expertise, I am done with this shop. I'm embarrassed to say that I've used this garage for many years for convenient location to work - and I have spent thousands of dollars here. I recently had them diagnose my overheated vehicle. The estimate was more than $1500 to replace the radiator, water pump and timing belt. After i said i was going to get another opinion, the guy said it was "too dangerous for me to drive" to get back to work. I drove it away. That night, in my files at home, I found the receipt from this same shop when they replaced the water pump and timing belt two years ago. I drove the vehicle to a trusted garage near my house and they confirmed the pump and belt did not need replacement. They replaced the radiator for less than $600. Story sounds too familiar to the others here. read more

I took my Lexus in for an oil change. The counter guy came up to the car and when I told him I would like an inspection and oil change, he looked at my tires and said" wow, not sure these are going to pass". I said then don't do the inspection please because I am not going to buy tires here. Amazingly, they passed but he said "barely". When the actual mechanic came to check me out, he said the tires were fine, and the invoice showed they all were 7/32 or greater. I asked the mechanic if I should be worried or get the tires checked, he honestly replied "no, we'll take a look at them again in 6 months". That is when I felt rather scammed by the sales man guy. This same thing happened 1 1/2 years ago when I went to the same Kwik Kar at 6308 Preston, Plano for an oil change. Same sales guy (I think it was him) came out and looked at my tires and said "wow your brakes are squeaking..we need to take a look at them" Then he said I need new discs, pads, etc. I asked "don't you sand the discs down as a first resort" he said "oh no, no one does that anymore". I said - just do the oil change please. As soon as they were done, I drove to the Brakes Plus Place in Frisco on Ohio Drive and asked them. They told me my brake pads were fine and had at least 6-8 months left on them, discs were fine, and if not, they would try sanding (?not sure if that's the word) down first. I said "thank you!" and I've used Brakes Plus on Ohio for everything ever since. Why I went back to this Kwik Kar yesterday knowing that sales counter guy is so dishonest, I don't know except they are close to where I live. Never again. I took a brand new car in for the 2nd oil change and amazingly they told me my oil was low and it was over the top dirty, jet black. When I asked to see the oil, he fumbled around and said it was thrown away. I told the guy the car is new and two weekes ago when I checked it, it was full and clear. He recommended a complete engine oil flush on a brand new car. He went on to say the dealership must have ripped me off. Giving him the benefit of doubt, I told him to go ahead and do the flush, then he showed me this horrible dirty oil coming out of my engine when they were flushing it. There is not enough miles on the car to even have oil that dirty. I believe they put dirty oil in my engine to sell me the engine flush. When you need other things like a new air filter, they always show you the evidence that you need it. Why would you not show me the dirty oil on the intial drain. When I confronted the worker, they went out back and huddled together to get their stories straight. Two weeks ago I saw my oil and it was clear. This is a new angle on cross selling services to brand new car owners, blaming the dealerships since they cant justify a new air filter. I am reporting this and the evidence to the local authorities. when I asked for the owners name, he said he cant be reached, he lives overseas. When they were caught in their scam he offered to refund me the charges. I don't want a refund, I want answers to this new low on these business scams. If you cant make a living doing a honest living, what is the purpose??? read more

Not even worth 1 star. When I drove in, they stated oil change was $72.99 and I was completely okay with that. I told them in advance I had a $7 coupon off. After they finished and I was ready pay, they said total is $98. And I'm like why, I only got an oil change. And he goes well we need these parts to do the oil change and the oil filter to do the work. And then he goes this coupon does not apply for the region here. Like first of all, don't lie in the first place and do the job and all of the sudden just charge $25 extra at the register. Second, that coupon stated nothing about region and literally said any Kwik Kar on any brand oil change. They said Dallas region is $7 off while Collin region is $5. But they didn't even give me the $5 off in the end. They rip you off in so many ways that I could have just gone to Mini and gotten it for $80. I made an Yelp account just to give them 1 star rating.
