I made a Friday afternoon appointment for gel mani and pedi. Lynn gave me the best rounded french manicure. She chose the perfect pink base color and drew the steadiest white tips. It was a little busy. She was handling phone calls and payments from customers, while still managing to give me the best service. I love watching a businesswoman handling business! The lovely woman who did my gel pedi was also amazing. I forgot to get her name, but she deserves her stars too. They were also super quick with the session (~1 hour). I'm definitely coming back. I'm newish to the area and haven't found a salon I love. My first visit here was last week. I got my usual... a gel mani and pedi squared nails. I'm thankful they had 2 workers working on me at the same time. Parking is free, and you can park on either Colorado, the side street or behind the salon. Since I came right when they opened and mid week, it wasn't busy. I didn't feel rushed. The interior is cute with pink, gray, and white hues. Various pedi packages available. Their chairs are big throne-like gray leather chairs- no spa chairs that do a massage. Sun did my pedicure. She did a great job on my toes ! I'd recommend others to check this place out! read more

Lynn did my gel-X set (after removing my old one) and she did amazing! This was my third time at this salon and every visit has been consistently phenomenal. Everyone at this salon is very detailed in their prep which makes the gel-X set last SUPER long with no lifting. My old set lasted 4-5 weeks before I got this new one today. Are wax services for men available?

Yes, but we only don’t do Brazilian wax for men

What is hard gel? Is it the equivalent to acrylic?

If you are referring to Gel X then it is a very thin false nail that is attached by using the UV light. It can be cut and filed to suit you. Then Gel polish is applied on top.

Hi! I'm a regular at your salon and I recently got a gel pedicure. I noticed that the polish is changing to a white/yellow color and it's a little concerning because the polish is lavender. Do I have to have the polish removed and replaced?

I waited to review to see how my mani and pedi would hold up. The pedi still looks great! The manicure, unfortunately, didn't even last a week of general office work (typing, etc.). The clear coat has peeled off, and the polish is coming off the sides and base of the nails (not just the tips). The manicure is a mess and was embarrassing looking in less than a week. I understand that the general manicure is relatively inexpensive, but should last longer than a few days. For the reviewer who stated that there had been a charge for a massage - I think I was there at the same time (or witnessed someone else asking and being charged). The young lady was sitting at the end, by the polish - I believe she said that she was visiting from San Francisco. She said that she had found them on Yelp and asked if they offered shoulder massages. The two men said they did and that it was $20 for 15 minutes. She seemed a little startled, but agreed. The shorter of the two men then set his cell phone for 15 minutes and started. I had seen the same review on Yelp, and having a headache when I went in, was looking forward to such pampering. Unlike the woman from San Francisco, it wasn't worth $20 to me (I took a Tylenol with the drink that they offered me). That is one "pro" in their favor - they do offer customers tea, water, or a soft drink. :-) The conclusion here is simply that the reviewer who stated massages are free, was probably just the recipient of a nice, but rare, occurrence. In response to the review about upsells - I had a similar experience. The young lady who did my pedicure didn't offer anything other than the callous removal (which doesn't make sense since I do that on my own twice a week). The young lady who did my manicure tried to talk me into the gel manicure. When I told her that one of the men told me that a regular manicure was better for my needs, her overall attitude changed (and not for the better). What is the problem? The woman did do the manicure, but was not as polite as she was when she first approached me. She did ask me if I would like a design and I told her that that might be nice, but I would prefer it on my toes (again, there hadn't been any offer to do that). I agree that a list of services, and the prices, might be helpful - then we know what we can ask for. There is a printed brochure that has all of this information (although not the massage), but I did not see it until I was leaving - as I would guess is the case with most customers. If I am in downtown Pasadena and need a pedicure, I might drop in again, but no more manicures - my own last longer. read more

After my manicurist retired several years ago, I tried a LOT of other salons and just couldn't find one that I was happy with. I am so glad that Yelp directed me towards VP! The staff is conscientious - even my special manicure requests (polish designs) are excellently done. I have been to VP several times over the past few months for manicures (gel) and pedicures (regular). In reading some of the reviews, it looks like people aren't understanding that this shop is interested in nail CARE (hence the name - "VP Nail Care") and sanitation. No, they don't have the big massage chairs with foot spas, but those allow for fungus growth (even when cleaned because the jets aren't sanitized), so instead they use pedicure trays with a fresh liner for each client - they aren't using "buckets." I have found myself having fewer toenail issues now that I am not getting pedicures in salons that use those chairs. I don't feel rushed at VP, and the manicurists don't bounce around between clients - which is something that I experienced in most other salons. The prices are very reasonable. They do take cash only, but also have an ATM in the shop (it doesn't charge a fee, and neither did my bank). VP isn't very close to home or work for me, but always worth the visit! read more

DON'T RECOMMEND: I'm not from an area where nail salons don't take credit/debit. Otherwise, I would have gotten cash before entering. Well folks... It took me more than 30 minutes to pay the business... It makes no sense to be a cash-only business and have an empty cash machine in the salon... And no, not everyone uses or feels comfortable using payment apps. And the apps I was given didn't even work! Thanks for being rude and making it seem like I didn't know how to navigate the apps... I appreciate your attempts to denigrate me in front of customers. NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. My entire experience after getting my nails done was extremely frustrating. Make it more simple for customers to pay you or go out of business... Not everyone is trying to scam you when they say they'll have to go to another cash machine, believe them the first time since YOUR CASH MACHINE DOESN'T WORK! You denied me the first time and then suggested it at the end... makes no sense! I shouldn't have had to jump through several hoops to give you your money. I won't be returning and will not recommend your nail salon. read more

I had a great experience there over the weekend. I was a little confused at the very beginning since things are done so differently here, but quickly caught on. It was nice to be offered something to drink! Not quite sure why there was a hockey game on the television since no one was interested in watching it, but the music playing was perfect - relaxing. One poster mentioned that they do free shoulder and neck massage; however, they did charge a woman $20 for one while I was there. My nails look fantastic and have held up very well so far. Came here today to get a pedicure and manicure before my anniversary. Let me tell you they are extremely friendly and they don't make you feel uncomfortable I paid a lot less then I had expected ( everybody loves to save money) they did an outstanding job. Best part of this experience is the wonderful nails that came out! Brand new place and friendly staff. I highly recommend everybody to stop by and check them out.
