    Burnt and dry

Very bad experience today with the food! Not sure what happened in the past 30 days. I went for the first time in October and tried the chicken and beef empanadas and they were great! Juicy, tasty, and just right. Fast-forward to today, went back with my wife and kid, and they were truly disappointing! We got 3 empanadas, 1 beef and 2 chicken. All 3 were extremely dry and burnt... For 6 bucks a pop, you'd expect a much higher and consistent quality... Can't not recommend it like this!

My husband bought their empenada today just to try. I was surprise with: 1. It's pricey $6 for one empenada. 2. The skin was thick and chewy. I just work a cross the street and my husband experienced the same thing. I'm sorry I felt ripped off today.

Super near place while passing by. Saw they have empanadas. The guy is super nice and can made to order. Alot of seats with sofas and chair. Very cozy with snacks and drinks too. Accept wallet pay. Plenty of parkings as well. Nice music and good homey vibes. Definitely good place for grab and go or chill.

Ordered a dozen and half empanadas and they were chefs kiss! From the eggplant, spinach, corn, beef, chicken and even Nutella.. they have so many yummy options! These empanadas were a hit at my event with a wide range of kids and adults enjoying them! My favorite is the beef! And the Nutella à la mode!! & I must add, the chimichurri sauce is insanely delicious. Definitely will be back.

This place is great, friendly staff, affordable and quality treats. Their cinnamon crunch milkshake was delicious, it wasn't too sweet just the right amount!

Adorable atmosphere and incredible hospitality. We played a game of finding Chaco and were rewarded with a yummy vanilla latte! I saw they have monopoly deal here and I never played and today was the day I did! I've been here a for about an hour getting beat but it was so fun! Thank you halfsies!

Wow! Wow! Wow! We stopped to grab a bite and were so pleasantly surprised. Chef Eric and his wife creates the most delicious flavors (try the jackfruit one!). Farm to table, a cool garden (can't wait to see it grow!), and educating the local kids on healthy eating and gardening skills. This is a business to support!

Cool little local spot. Just opened trying to experiment with what works. Great place to bike to and get some ice cream or a coffee

Good ambience, good music, fast service. Food was getting situated when we arrived for their first day opening, but no worries. Nachos were good! Will be updating my review the more I come. The Cereal Milk latte with oat milk is amazing! Will be by more definitely! You can order online and do drive thru pick up as well!

Wow, this place must be under new management because they didn't used to have empanadas. They were FIRE!!! And the chimichurri was next level. Plus they have Açai lemonade and all type of other Agua Frescas. I was thoroughly impressed. It's like a drive-through, meets a bodega meets a restaurant.. definitely a vibe

Who said you can't review a closed restaurant? I checked Yelp's policy, and there's no restriction…read moreon reviewing a closed one. But why am I writing about food from a restaurant that has already closed? Let's begin the story. It was January 2023 when I walked into the restaurant. A Messi poster in WPAP (Wedha's Pop Art Portrait) style was hanging on the wall, and a FIFA World Cup Trophy sat on the counter. It was less than a month after Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Messi as the team leader. They were also selling thermos flasks and phone cases painted with the Argentina football team. I had known this was an Argentine restaurant for a long time, dating back to 2016. I used to live in Glendora Village, just a ten-minute walk to the restaurant by crossing the railway. I didn't know the word "empanadas" before I came to Rika's, even though I had eaten similar food before. In China, there is Uyghur/Muslim food called "baked dumplings," stuffed with seasoned minced lamb, which are almost the same as empanadas. Compared with deep-fried empanadas, Rika's baked version was less oily, with more wheat flour aroma. Their empanada wrap also had a hint of sweetness, which made it very special. The first time I walked past the restaurant, on a random afternoon in 2016, I ordered four different empanadas to take away. At that time, they were $2.35 each. The restaurant was so kind that they wrote the flavor names on the food box. I still remember the experience-those empanadas were hot, aromatic, cheesy, and well-balanced. I was too full to have dinner that night. Later, I brought my family and friends to dine there. Not only were the empanadas delicious, but the deep-dish pizza, salads, and other dishes were also excellent. Let's talk about the empanadas. They had 16 different fillings, from simple ones like beef, sweet beef, spicy beef, ham & cheese, blue cheese, and onion & cheese, to more unique ones. What was interesting was that each filling had its own shape. Regular beef was half-round, sweet beef had both corners folded up, spicy beef had only the left corner folded up, and so on. FATAY (Arabian empanadas) were triangular, while bacon & prunes were square. I tried almost all the different fillings, and they were all good--never disappointing. Even after I moved to Pasadena, I still went back there. Then COVID-19 came. The restaurant closed for a short while, then reopened for takeout only, no dine-in. By June 2022, the price had risen to $2.85 each. By January 2023, it was $3.10 each. By June 2025, they closed permanently. I miss Rika's empanadas. I hope the chef is still baking them somewhere else. If so, please let me know.

Rika's Empanadas is a great Argentinian restaurant specialized in Argentinian food and pastries …read more It is located in Grand Avenue Plaza in Glendora. The parking lot is shared with other businesses, but it is easy to find a spot. Rika's has different varieties of fresh and delicious empanadas.  Their savory menu includes cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, pizzas, calzones, and salads. They also have both savory and Sweet crepe. The restaurant is clean and has a cozy vibe. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I ordered the following to go; One Dozen Empanadas; -Chopped beef    5/5 chopped beef, onions, bell peepers, chopped potatoes, boiled eggs and green olives - Fatay:       5/5 The filling is ground beef, fresh tomatoes, lemon juice, bell peppers, onions, garlic and parsley -Bacon and prunes;    5/5 the filling is bacon, prunes onions and mozzarella cheese -Chicken   5/5 It has chopped chicken, onions, egg and olive -chicken and mushrooms  5/5 It has chicken, mushrooms, leeks, green onions, chopped almonds&  parmesan cheese -  ham and cheese 5/5 Just ham and mozzarella cheese Beauty is in simplicity and this was perfect! All empanadas we tried had perfect crust and the filling was delectable and scrumptious. - A beef  milanesa sandwich  5/5 breaded fried aye of round beef (mayonnaise lettuce, tomatoes. The sandwich was both  huge and delicious. - A Four seasons pizza; This pizza was divided into four quarters with four different toppings ; the first quater was Ham & pineapple, the second quarter was pepperoni, the last two quarters are ham & red bell peppers then tomato garlic and mushrooms with green olives. The toppings were generous and very flavorful, and the crust enhanced the toppings. This Four Seasons Pizza was perfect and convenient. Everyone in my family got what they wanted. Finally, I got  nutella Sweet crepe (5/5) for dessert. It had nice texture and the chocolate hazelnut was rich and creamy. We enjoyed our dinner ,verything was delicious and flavorful.. It is a great food to try! I definitely recommend Rika's Empanadas.

The bread was extremely dry, almost stale, and it ended up being one of those situations where nobody even wanted to take it home. At first, I thought I scored a good deal because a large rosca usually runs around $40-$50, and this one was closer to $33, but now I understand why. With something this traditional, especially something people look forward to once a year, the quality really matters, and unfortunately, this one missed the mark. I didn't try any of their other pastries, and to be fair, maybe those are better, but Rosca de Reyes is such a staple that it's hard to excuse when it's done poorly. It actually hurts to write this review because I want local bakeries to succeed, but I also feel like I need to be honest with myself and with others who might be deciding where to buy theirs. On a positive note, the staff was very kind and welcoming. The bakery itself was empty when I went, and it's tucked into the corner of a parking lot, so it's easy to miss if you don't already know it's there. I'm sure regulars know exactly where to park and how things work, but for a first visit tied to such a special tradition, the experience just didn't deliver. There wasn't really an ambience for customers other than a very busy kitchen. There was just nobody there when I went.

Thumbs up for the most truly authentic Mexican Panaderia in Azusa !…read more Mexican from ELA I had not found a good panaderia in this side of town. Tried one in Covina but blah, so I always had to go back to ELA La Favorita !!! Yummmm yes go there too lol, until last year or the year b4 by accident. So glad I did ! I was craving Pan Dulce and Yelped of course and found this place and had to try it. If you want authentic pan dulce in Azusa, this is it ! Skip the Mexican markets, that bread is stale and does not taste authentic. Am I right or am I right ? As a kid when we went to Jalisco, my grandma always took us for pan in the evenings :D yummmm That's where my love of pan dulce comes from ! It's her fault lol Even though she made us walk like 2 miles just for pan & chocolate calientito yummm lol Sometimes I didn't want to go. Now in retrospect, the walking was a good idea you know, all the carbs ! Haha Well this place reminds me of those yummy times. :D For me, I love conchas, cuernos, & this round bread that looks like it has dust on top. I just forgot what's it called lol and it's my favorite to dunk in cold milk or warm chocolate abuelita. Ugh I can't remember what it's called ! After a long moment of thinking lol Oh yeah ! CEMITAS or is it Semitas!!! I don't know but Yummmm !! Some people I know don't like them cuz it's plain or never tried it, but it has like fennel seeds or something spicy like cinnamon baked into them because I love them & as a child I always chose that one & cuernos ! Like I said, dunk them in super cold milk or warm chocolatito abuelita and you can't go wrong ! They also have the best cuernos !!! What am I talking about ? Let me ESplain lol ( in the voice of Ricky Ricardo, I Love Lucy, hehe who else loves Lucy & Ricky? ) Cuernos are basically CROISSANTS ! YESSSS ! Yummm ! So yummy flaky & buttery ! I want some, but I can't have them anymore but you can ! So go have some for me and let me know if you love cuernos as much as me ! I once met the owner very friendly :D He's from Jalisco, if I remember correctly. Enjoy your pan dulce ! Let me know if you loved it & are addicted now lol Yummy eating
