Incredible meat department. The chicken and Asada preparada are always great. The prices are also really good.

Dropped In largely based on the yelp reviews just to pick up some chicken and steak to barbecue. Staff and manager could not have been nicer and I use the Yelp check in to get a free container of delicious green salsa Verde. I'll be back. The price was right. The food was delicious and it makes a barbecue so easy!!!

My first time at this little market as I was in the area. I will definitely come back any time I'm in the area. The owner is friendly and truly cares about his customers. Nice little market to grab fresh meat, produce, pastries or paletas. Highly recommend.

more like 3.5 out of 5 stars. as most places have banned dining indoor due to the coronavirus, we decided to see what types of places were open on door dash. i'm so glad this place was open, since they have carne asada fries. We ended up getting the below. 1x Adobada (Sopes) $3.49 1x Carne Asada Fries (Antojitos) $8.49 1x Guacamole (Extras) $1.49 1x Lengua (Burritos) $6.99 Everything was really good and filling, i think for two people, the above items are more than enough. I think you can even skip the sopes and be full from everything. I actually think i shouldve skipped the sopes, as it was kinda soggy by the time it got to my house, but that could be because i didn't eat it fresh. The lengua burrito and the carne asada fries were money tho, loved it 100%. Next time i'm craving mexican food, i'll order from this place again in the future. I wished they had an option to buy items from the panaderia on doordash... that would've been cool.

Ranchera is the top left and the cecina is everything else. Look at the difference !

0 stars if I could. Went today for the first time and asked for 3 pounds of ranchera but when I went home they gave me cecina ( cheaper meat) and 2 pieces of ranchera went back to swap out for ranchera but the owner refused, started cursing, and wanted to kick me out. They were also taking photos of me. Rude and disrespectful place. Look at the photo and see the difference

A friendly neighborhood grocery store, taqueria, and bakery. While this store isn't as big or well known as the ubiquitous grocery chains we're familiar with, it has a great selection of items that typically wouldn't be stocked at the mainstream places. I usually come here to pick up some ice cream popsicles. They have so many different and unique varieties to choose from. My personal favorite is the coconut cream. It's made with coconut and milk for a smooth and creamy texture. Shaved strips of coconut are also mixed in to add more flavor. All the ice cream is made with fresh ingredients, come individually wrapped, and are delicious. There's a flavor for every palate, and each popsicle is only $2. The meat market has a great selection of cuts. If you're looking to make tacos, fajitas, or any other Mexican dish, they've got you covered. The meat is fresh and can be cut to order. The taqueria tucked away in the corner adjacent to the ice cream. They offer all kinds of meats, and if you come in Tuesdays, select varieties are $0.99. These include carne asada, adobada, and carnitas. The tacos are about double the size of your standard street tacos, and pack plenty of flavor. The tacos come topped with diced onions and cilantro. Salsa is provided on the side. Service throughout the store is very friendly, and there's also a Yelp check-in for free salsa with a $25 dollar purchase.

Ask the Community - La Bodega Market

Hello are you opened now? I tried to order catering last year and was told you were closed due to refurbishing?

Sorry but we no longer have a kitchen

    Does this place accept EBT?

    Yes we do

How much is a dozen tamales and can I still order for Christmas?

We do not have any more tamales this year. So sorry!

Do you sell raw goat meat, if not who?

Yes we do. Speak to any of the butchers available and they will be able to help you.

Do you guys offer money exchange?

    No sir.

Is their carne asada meat good as they say it is? Someone please describe the taste and texture of the meat; juicy, chewy, thick? Because I've had horrible experience with various carne meats from some Mexican markets in Orange County?

Hello, our meat is known to be thin cut and juicy. We use both dry rub and juice mixtures to marinate our meat. We guarantee satisfaction and addiction to our top notch quality products. Hope to see you soon!!

Is delivery available for 1925 E La Veta Ave in Orange (which is less then 1/2 a mile away)?

We deliver through the app door dash.

Do they sell cooked carnitas by the pound?

    Yes they do!

When are you going to add seating?

Unfortunately both the landlord and the city do not approve of us adding seating in or outside the business.

I had a wonderful phone conversation with the owner Ben who personally took my order. We agreed upon a date and time two weeks out since I was going to be out of town for the 4th of July week. They called while I was out of town to confirm the date and time (between 10-11 am) which was great! When I arrived to the store with my son around 11:15 because of the heavy traffic on 91W I went to the counter and was told by a young female that I needed to go to the pay counter. She was curt and not helpful. There was only three people ahead of me so no problem. But the elder gentleman in front of me, who was being helped by the young man who would eventually help me, took an exceptionally long time with his order. I'm just here to pay and pick up. No problem, I'll be patient and keep waiting. Two other costumers are helped by the female counter person and finally the elder customer leaves with his order and I'm next. The young male counter person then waits for me to initiate the conversation and doesn't greet me with a smile or hello or how can I help. I brush it off. I tell him I'm here to pick up my order, a whole pig and give him my last name. He fumbles around a few seconds and then asks how to spell my name and eventually finds my ticket order and asks what time. The time is written at the top of the ticket he failed to notice. I pay for the order. He mutters someone will be out with my order and disappears. No thank you, no attentiveness like he gave the older gentleman in front of me. Again, I've been in my car with my son for over two hours from San Diego in traffic and this fella couldn't give me five minutes of courtesy. I'm waiting, and waiting and waiting while others eventually come into the store and are being helped and leaving. The older female worker at the pay counter is still there helping customers while the younger female at the deli counter is now apparently on a break and making herself lunch. She stops momentarily when a customer comes in for deli service. I'm still waiting by the counter to make sure I'm at least acknowledged but I don't see the young male counter worker who apparently left for lunch since it's now noon. The older female worker can probably see on my face that I'm not happy and says to me he's working on my order. He? Who's he? I am just here to pay and pick order between 10-11. How much time and trouble could it be to put this order together which was made two weeks prior? A different gentlemen finally arrives with three boxes and two large paper bags that comprise my order. On the way out the older female worker says goodbye and was very courteous. At this point I'm pretty upset because this is not a large haul and this order could've easily been second and not 45 minutes! I arrive home after the two hour drive back home to SD and looking forward to the meat, especially the sausages and putting it into the freezer which I cleared out in preparation for the meat. My older son is home to help. As we are sorting and placing the meat I notice that there are no sausages. It's just sausage meat but no links. I guess it's my fault for assuming and not specifying sausage links on at peat some of the order. It was a huge letdown. I had array went out to purchase rolls and buns for a bbq this weekend and to have friends and family over. Oh well. You live and you learn. At least the bacon was great.

The market is easy to spot with a big street sign out front. There are only two parking spots in front, one is a handicapped space. There's plenty of parking around the back though. When you walk in, you will see the main market with lots of items and brands I've never seen before. Slightly to the right is their deli counter with lots of meats, cheeses, and other miscellaneous items. To the right of the entrance is a dining area, and another counter where you can order sandwiches, empanadas, pizza, French fries, and drinks. I was laser focused on getting the chimichurri and leaving since I was short on time. It is in plastic bottles in plain view on on top of the deli counter. I purchased the regular variety, but they also have a spicy version. I could already tell this was going to be way better than the other two sauces I tried. I've had it on a steak, and on my breakfast scrambled eggs, and it's in a whole different league from the grocery versions I tried. It looks just like a restaurant chimichurri, oil based with lots of herbs and spices. I just had a nice filet mignon with chimichurri at a good Argentinan restaurant last week, and this chimichurri is about 90% as good. I moved it from the plastic bottle it comes in to a glass jar which will hopefully help preserve it longer, and store it in the refrigerator. I now have no reason to look elsewhere for chimichurri. My friend visits here periodically and says the sandwiches are excellent. I'll have to return again to try one, get more chimichurri, and explore the market and deli to see what other goodies they have.
