Probably one of the best banh mi sandwiches ive ever had. Such a simple thing but can be easily messed up. Their bread is super soft. Meat was tasty and juicy. And its a good size also. I love that they have so many options on their menu. Wish there was one closer to me. I also got some shrimp spring rolls and thai tea which were good as well. My review is two folds. The cafe is nice, simple with some seating. The wait for a bahn mi and three mochi donuts was almost 10minutes. The staff was friendly but when it came to execution they seemed were unorganized although it was three of them. That being said, the mochi donuts were really good and so was the bahn mi. It is a spacious cafe but not too many seats to sit and dine in but the food is incredible! The Korean hot dog was amazing! So crispy yet so soft! I had the potato and cheese and it was delicious :) The tofu bahn mi was not the best I have had but definitely tasty. I also tried their mochi donuts. It's also a mini grocery store that offers a variety of snacks + drinks! I've been there twice already and I had a wonderful experience both times. The potato Korean hotdog half mozzarella & half hotdog was crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside! I also loved how the mozzarella stretches beautifully. It's been a while since I've been to this location and I was surprised by the variety of items they have on their menu. I was just looking for a Banh Mi sandwich but when I walked inside, I saw that they offer several kinds of mochi donuts, rice hotdogs, rice noodle bowls, milk tea, and coffee. I browsed around and checked their items and all of them looked good. I came for a Banh Mi sandwich so I ordered their pork belly. The person behind the counter took our order and saw a bread oven behind her. The bread is made fresh and the sandwiches are prepared once you order. The sandwich is big and the portion is huge. It has jalapeno also which makes it hot. If you like Mochi, they have a lot of selections like churros, red velvet, panda, cookies and cream, chocolate, fruity flavors, etc. It costs $9 for 3 but you'll get a discount if you buy 6 or a dozen. The hot dogs look tempting but I'll come back and try them. So does the fresh bowl. I will come back and try their milk tea and fruit tea also. Not sure why this place isn't receiving more hype! After living in the East Bay Are for almost my whole life, my friends and I stumbled upon this place and fell absolutely in love. The service was fast, the place was clean, and the drinks were delicious! Not to mention they were playing straight up bops lol. I got the Dirty Matcha with oat milk ($5.95 + $0.50 for oat milk) and it is probably one of my favorite drinks now! It was a perfect delicious mixture of coffee and matcha. My wife and were driving towards Fremont to meet up with my wife's family and I saw this as a great candidate to stop by for lunch as well as both of trying Mochi Donuts for the first time ever. It was almost adjacent to a Lee's Sandwich shop and I was trying to ascertain if this place was somehow connected, ownership wise, to it. We parked in the small private lot. It was quiet for a Friday afternoon around 1300 hours. It was nice to see that the Mochinuts and sandwich shop were combined into one store. The place was very clean, the tables for eating were limited: there are only eight tables that each had a two or three chairs. There was a bench that seated three or four people but the other side of this workbench was attached to the wall. The staff was very friendly and patient while we decided on our order. They also advised us it was cheaper to buy three donuts versus just two. We chose: A5. Grilled Beef Banh Mi ($9.50) A6. Grilled Meatball Banh Mi ($8.95) Strawberry Smoothie ($5.75) Matcha Latte ($5.95) M2. Three Mochi Donuts ($9.00). We chose Yuzu, Matcha and chocolate flavors. 5 Sesame Balls (?) Pre-tip Subtotal: $39.15 (Not including the sesame balls) Our order was ready in a few minutes. My wife tore in to her steak Banh Mi. There was a decent portion of well seasoned meat and veggies ratio and the bread was so fresh! My meatball sandwich was also delicious but I was not prepared to see the meatball was actually more like a siu mai meat spread. I'm kinda used to the places I get my Siu Mai Banh Mi's in Little Saigon (Orange County) that actually have the meatballs cut in half and placed into the bread. I liked the sandwich but if I was to stop by here again, I would go for Grilled Beef instead. The Mochi Donuts were different from what I was expecting. I tried to explain to my wife that Mochi donuts use the same flour that the sesame ball use, and she sadly does not like the texture of the sesame balls. My wife and I tried the matcha one first. She was very happy: the texture was more like a french crueller donut with a similar taste, and was not chewy like my beloved sesame balls. The match flavor did stand up to the fried dough flavor ands was pronounced. We tried the Yuzu one next. Sorry to say we were both really disappointed with this flavor because there was no flavor, not one detectable trace of Yuzu or any type of hint of this citrus in the donut. Hard pass next time, especially for $3.00. The chocolate one tasted like what a chocolate dipped docent tastes like everywhere else. Nothing special, nothing horrible about it. BTW, the sesame balls were good, not oily but reasonably fresh for where they were being sold from and satisfied my craving. I know there are lots of Banh Mi places in there Bay Area, but for Hayward, this place is decent enough to stop by again. read more

Wanted a quick bite and a sandwich sounded good so my husband and I came here to pick up some bahn mis. Food - The bahn mis were pretty tasty! I wish it had more of the spread. This is my second time here. I am very disappointed this time. I ordered two Vietnamese sandwiches (beef and bbq pork, no jalapeños). The wait was fine, but the food was not. It's very unhealthy this time. The cream spread was so overfilled in my sandwiches to the point that when I was biting the sandwich, the spread was spilling to the side. It was not pleasant at all. If you're feeling a bit more hungry, try the fried eggrolls, crispy outside and tender inside, and wrap to meat ratio is perfect. I was the only one inside the restaurant and it took ~15 minutes to receive my sandwich. There were others that came after that were given drinks, donuts, etc. but not another sandwich order. Maybe they were working on a large pick up order or something but that was just too long for my preference. The sandwich is pretty bare -- I got the banh mi thịt nguội and it was pretty skinny. There was a slice of each cut of meat and then extra pate and mayo like I ordered. I've never had a sandwich that "sad" before. It was as if I had arrived at the end of day with all the ingredients "sold out" or something but it was pretty early in the morning. The vietnamese coffee was solid. Pretty strong and kept me going. I ordered a sandwich which was delicious & also got a Korean 1/2 & 1/2 hot dog (cheese and hot dog). It was the 1st time trying a Korean hot dog. Yum! Yum! Yum! The service is great..super patient (I couldn't decide what to order) and friendly (the young lady at the register gave me recommendations). I have to say they need to do a better job of keeping clean. When you walk in you're greeted by a glass door that is filthy, as is the entrance floor. This place used to be Lee's Sandwiches. I was excited to give this new business a try as it's less than a 5 minute drive from my job. The indoor area is nice and more spacious since there are only a few tables for seating. However, I was not very impressed with my banh mi order. I ordered a BBQ pork banh mi and while the sandwich itself tasted good. The portions were small. There was minimal meat and the pickled veggies weren't what I was used to with Lee's. When I got my sandwich, it was so thin that I opened it up to double check there was meat and veggies in there. There also were not enough jalapeños. I wish I could've asked for more jalapeños, but there is a self-order tablet and it wasn't an option when I was placing my order. I'm disappointed and will probably not be back which makes me sad because I work very close to this business and will have to find another place close by for my banh mi cravings. They do offer other items but I'm not interested enough in trying them out to go back. Definitely not worth paying the price for small portions. read more

The song was playing loud in the restaurant for about 3 minutes straight until I had to ask the guy at the register if he thought this was appropriate for a place with kids. He immediately changed the song, we then order our food and sit down. They another song comes up saying "N**ga" every 10 seconds. Smh. I thought I reviewed this spot already. My partner LOVES there Vietnamese coffee and while I don't drink coffee even I have to say it looks yummy. It looks rich and just right idk how to explain it. That said I got a strawberry matcha and was very disappointed. I make my strawberry matcha at home so I just mash fresh strawberries with some sugar. when I get teaspoon's boba they use like a strawberry marmalade for my black tea so I guess I was expecting either but it was like a strawberry pancake syrup with some preserved strawberries and I'm not a fan of that taste at all. The honey boba is mid, not hard but not that perfect chewy either. I would probably get their plain matcha and enjoy it more this whole drink just tastes like Nesquick strawberry milk. A pretty solid banh mi! I ordered the fried eggs banh mi because it was breakfast time and just really felt like eating some eggs. The pickled veggies was my first bite, and they were a bit sweeter than I'm used to, but added a nice touch anyway. Fried eggs were cooked a bit more than over easy, so the yolk was still runny. I wished, though, that there was a bit more mayo because I didn't taste much of it. Thankfully, the bread wasn't overly hard either. That always seems to be a problem with some banh mis, and while some people enjoy that, I prefer mine on the softer, but still crunchy, side. I ordered 2 mojito coffees (one for my cousin) and a few mochi donuts for my kids to share (churro, Nutella, chocolate, and cookies & crème). As for flavor, the coffee did not have any mint flavor but the sweetness was perfect for me. The mochi donuts did not have the mochi texture. Fried egg rolls piping hot with dipping sauce. The dipping sauce is thicker than what I'm used to but taste the same as other places. I am a pretty big fan of the banh mi here!! Affordable and super tasty. The menu is pretty extensive, so there's lots of sandwich options. It's also connected to Mochinut! Normally tofu banh mi uses fried tofu and is really crispy, BUT NOT HERE. They use a soft custard-like fried tofu. It was tender and easy to bite into. Seasoned pretty well and the lemongrass is subtle. The highlight is DEFINITELY the toasty baguette. Their bread is INCREDIBLE. The perfect texture that doesn't tear up the roof of your mouth. It's soft and has the perfect bite to it. The pickled veggies had the perfect sour-to-sweet ratio for me too. Delicious!!! + Rose Milk Tea (3/5): Not bad! Their menu is very eclectic so it can be a hit or miss. Their banh mi (I've tried grilled pork and chicken) is average, not amazing but does the job, though slightly overpriced. I prefer when the meat is still warm, but both the bread and meat were cold. But surprisingly their sticky rice with lap chong was phenomenal! The sticky rice stayed soft even until the next day, and they even had tiny dried shrimp topping, not just fried shallots. I've tried their mochi donut and those were pretty good.
