I can totally see why this place has so many bad reviews. I actually didn't look at the reviews until after I had lunch there today. We got there around 2 it was not busy and we were seated right away. The restaurant is huge. We scanned the digital menu and I was impressed at how extensive it was. We ordered our drinks and the children's meal right away. We ordered our entrees about 10 min later. The kids meal ended up coming out at the same time as our food. And the food took foreverrrrrrr I want to say about 45-60 min. While we're waiting they decided to repair a screen right above my head where I was sitting and my mom yelled out because the guy almost kicked me on my head ! Crazy. I gave them 2 stars because the food was actually good and our waitress was attentive. We asked for sushi and apparently they don't serve it until 6pm My sister asked for garlic sauce and she got red sauce. I can't see myself coming back here especially because of how overpriced there are. So many better options in the area. read more

The aesthetics of the food and drink are top notch...now,as far as tastes goes,it's not as good as it looks. The mofongos are simply OK. The coconut Mojito was a 10/10. The passion fruit margarita was watered down and the passion fruit juice was way too sweet. Our waitress was amazing, another 10/10. It is definitely pricey for what it is. This place sucks! I came here on a Saturday around 730-8 pm with two girlfriends! We were told that in order to get a table we needed to do bottle service, two bottles minimum! The bottle options were very limited so we ended up getting two gold label! At around 1100 pm a security guard came to our table saying that the table was reserved for another party & that we can only stay at the table if we buy 3 more bottles! & pay 50 dollars each for entrance! I came here with my family for my cousin's birthday. We were a party of around 13 to 15 people... To be honest, i got all tipsy and crap cause all I could taste was like isopropyl alcohol, methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol... On top of that, for every mojito we ordered, they would bring a different cup (shape and size), he also told me that they did not have enough so as they were washing them, the bartender would get any cup and serve the drink there. ((NO THANKSSSS)) Before ordering the mojitos, we actually inquired about prices to get a few bottles. but they were selling Buchanan bottles at nightclub prices and the manager did not want to go lower than $190 per bottle... So generous from the manager. Food: I ordered some Dominican fusion sushi, which was not bad but the portion was so tiny, it didn't even fill my molars. My partner also got the same think but requested for the yellow plantains to be removed because he cannot stand yellow plantains and when the food came to the table the first thing we noticed on the sushi was that they did not meet his expectations and his food came with what he asked not to include, YELLOW PLANTAINS. My sister got some kinda "churrasco mofongo" (that was supposed to be the specialty 'cause that's the business' name, MOFONGO) but when chewing it, it was more like a piece of bubble gum, plus she ended up being food poisoned. We tried to go to the lounge after we ate but they didn't aloud for us to go cause there was some kind of event and we had to pay entrance even though we consumed drinks and food at the restaurant... Also, up to this day we are still trying to bring the bill up to clarification cause the waiter took more than a hundred dollars for himself, not the legal tax but his own tip and the explanation he provided was he thought it was all for him and could not give it back cause he had already put the bill and tip in the system. I am still lost how that works for them and how it didn't work for us. FYI, Despite all our happy faces in the photos, we were not fully enjoying the night... My family is usually very happy and we decided to still have fun, the music was good but they had to get better workers prior to the opening. The overall two star rating is very much accurate. We came here yesterday afternoon to celebrate my partner's graduation. This place is huge and was about maybe 30% full when we arrived. We received digital menus in the form of iPads and started off with a round of margaritas. Once we received the margaritas, we ordered our mofongos. 20 mins, 40 mins, 60 mins go by, our waitress has completely vanished off the face of the earth and our food has still yet to come out. About 30 mins into our visit, another party sat down next to us and ordered both food and drinks, and received both before us. Finally, over an hour later, our waitress reappeared and admitted to us with no remorse that she completely forgot about us and our order and that she would put it in now. We told her to forget it and just bring us the check, although they should have comped those margaritas for us since we were ignored for so long. Since the place is so new it does get crowded but the wait is worth. The service is great a bit of waiting time but it's understanding with how packed this place gets. So Bae and I walked up to one of the hostess that was standing out front and asked "if we can just have a seat anywhere (pointing to their out door sitting area) or do we have to wait for someone to come and seat us? They must still be figuring it out... because they're messing up the simplest things. I should've written this review the first time the messed up my meal but I gave them a chance consider they're new to the neighborhood but today I came in for a takeout order. They have a special for a full chicken with a side of rice for $9. That's what I got. JUST THAT. Here's where the lady who served me messed up: se le olvidó la salsita! She forgot the SAUCE! Where do I begin. This place has no costumer service edict. After dinner we decided to stay and have a few beers they refuse to give tables to those who do not purchase liquor. Not everyone drinks liquor especially while then having to drive that is not ok to discriminate and turn away costumers for that reason. The "bottle service girl was extremely rude and aggressive to my mother who is an older woman to the point where we had to get security to address her behavior. I would never spend a dime at this place there are many other Latin restaurants/ lounge in uptown Manhattan. If this system continues to be allowed by management this place will definitely not last. I came here for lunch on Memorial Day. Even though the food seemed good, the customer service was lack luster to say the least. FOOD We ordered some sushi rolls and mofongo dishes. The sushi rolls were delicious! But they were not bite size. they were made too big and I had to bite half of it to be able to eat it, resulting in the other half completely falling apart. SERVICE When the waiter arrived to take our order, he asked us to hurry up because he has other tables to attend. We waited 30-60 minutes for our rolls. After 90 minutes, they never brought out our mofongo dishes so we canceled our entrees. Someone at our table is allergic to shellfish. He made a point of ordering a roll that didn't have crabmeat, according to the menu. When the rolls came out, his wife noticed the mounds of crab meat in top of the rolls. He went to the hostess to let her know. She said that cati paste, which was mentioned in the menu, is crab meat. We never heard of this, and there was no clear indication in the menu of crab meat. He could've had a horrible allergic reaction because their menu was not clear. The hostess was not pleasant at all. She never smiled and she was not helpful. We asked for the drink menu and wine list, since the restaurant has a full bar. She notified us that they don't have either. We were a table of 6, and we were given just 6 slices of bread. We asked for more bread. 40 minutes later, we were notified that they ran out of bread. How can they run out of bed if the restaurant has a bakery AND there's a supermarket on the same street. After so many issues, we asked to speak to the manager twice. The hostess said that he was unable to come out because he was busy in the kitchen. We asked for the entrees to be canceled and for the check. 20 minutes later, the waiter comes to our table and apologizes for the issues. He didn't even know that we asked for the check. We again had to ask for the check. We firmly asked for the manager. Both the check and manager appeared about 15-20 minutes later. I explained everything to the manager. He listened and blamed the waiter for the slow service. Ultimately he said, "So what do you want me to do about it?" I told him that he needed to know what's going on in the front of house. They don't accept reservations, so first come first serve might have you waiting for over 1 hour for a table. The food at this location is as good as the original location on St. Nick. The waitress are not very friendly and usually don't get your order correct. They will also charge you for items you didn't order. Also if you're paying via credit card make sure you are charged for the orginal amount on your receipt as they will claim the original receipt didn't include enough gratuity. Where to start since we gave them a one star. We've been living in the area for a while and noticed a new spot opened up where we drop off our laundry and run errands. So we scouted the place a couple of times day and night then finally went after work during the day. It was empty which it was early and preferred to have it that way. Total scam. Bought VIP tickets to Zacharias Ferreira only to have rude bottle service double the already agreed upon rate. It's a scam, it's obvious that they are trying to get their patrons completely intoxicated to run up their bill. We purchased 2 tables for the bottles per table, only to be told we need a total of 8. Showed manager confirmed paperwork of agreed upon rate for him to just say it needs to be 8 bottles for 6 people???? How can a restaurant mandate 8 bottles for 6 people ? That's guaranteeing that their patrons are intoxicated. For them to continue to over change people. I went to Casa del mofongo this past weekend. The location has two sections a restaurant portion and a bar portion. I first went to the restaurant side. We were seated but didn't get any service until after we waited about 15-20 minutes and we asked for someone to serve us. Eventually they sent someone. We ended up eating the food which was actually great (once we got it). We then went to the club side. Firstly I was told I wasn't old enough and I had a fake ID. I'm turning 30 years old this year and I had a "real ID" drivers license. That was extremely embarrassing. Then we were eventually let in. The bottle lady kept telling us that we could only buy 2 or 3 bottles. It was only 6 of us and one of us was driving so 2 or 3 bottles was way too much. We ended up not getting any bottles since we only wanted to buy one and they didn't allow us to. Fast forward to about an hr or so and two other parties were allowed to get a table with only ONE bottle. It was the same lady who had told us we couldn't purchase only one bottle.
