One thing I love is a good Mexican Restaurant and maybe this is one of those ones. How have I not been here before??? Also, I'm not usually a person that likes dining outside, but I did and they had a nice patio. The service was great. They had plenty of servers walking around. Everything came out fast and flavorful. All of the food was a five star for everyone at the table and we all agreed that it was seasoned to perfection. Everything was freshly cooked and that guac yes somebody put their foot in there. The strawberry margarita was so good. We ended up having two pictures so no complaints there. Definitely a fun spot to visit and plenty of seating. They have indoor seating, outdoor seating, and upstairs patio seating so there is something for everyone for sure. They had a very extensive menu, but it didn't take me long to choose. I just picked something that had everything I wanted to try in it and I was satisfied. The meal portions are fairly big so it's definitely bound to last two meals.

Great experience. We had tacos and chimichangas, both delicious. The rice and beans which are typically and after thought, were also fantastic. Chips were perfectly salted and the salsa was yummy. Beat strawberry daiquiri I've ever had. The space is nice and comfortable. Our server was the perfect amount of attentive and very friendly.

Great service, good food and the banana margarita was pretty good. Prefer the mango but wanted to switch it up today!

Way too long since we have been here, almost 6 months. Sunday afternoon lunch, so warm and comforting in the restaurant on a cold windy day . Birria tacos, chicken tacos, steak tacos, and shrimp enchiladas. Fabulous service, fabulous food, so glad we were able to have lunch today at such an amazing restaurant!

We celebrated Mother's Day here together as a family. The chips, salsa and queso were top-notch. Our food was amazing and the margaritas were very delicious! The only day was the service was rather slow with our bar orders (this could've just been because they were understaffed and very busy.) We will be back again!

They say you can't judge a book by its cover but you can judge a Mexican restaurant by its salsa. I fancy myself as a salsa snob and I don't know if there is a more consistently executed recipe than the salsa at La Catrina. Dale Doback once referred to Brennan Huff's vocal talent as a mixture of Fergie and Jesus, I for one would refer to this salsa as a mixture of your grandmothers secret recipe and the Mona Lisa. Perfect, some say. Or as our friends south of the boarder say, Perfecto. My prompt here tells me to discuss service and ambiance.. while both of them were well above great, the one thing that will get me return is the salsa. Everyone asks, Jordan or LeBron? Who cares, I want to know your favorite table salsa and anyone who says anything but La Catrina is WRONG. Non salsa bullet points - Pina Colada taste like a Jimmy Buffet album - Chips are the perfect thin/crisp ratio - Patio could have more fans but the salsa will distract that downfall - The house made hot sauce will put hair on your chest - A breakfast burrito would do numbers there - Parking is limited but that's besides rhetorical point - Could use a touch tunes machine (unless there's one in there and I haven't seen, then I apologize) - Have and will be back 4.992/5.00 (-.01 because there is no coronaritta, but again SALSA)

We've been going to La Catrina for about four years. We're not regulars by any means, but we enjoy our meals there! The restaurant has a decent amount of seating. They also have a double decker patio. Their parking lot is small so it's mostly all street parking. We've waited up to an hour for a table before. There isn't really anywhere to wait inside when they're super busy so you typically have to hang around outside. The service is very iffy. This last time it was downright bad. If it weren't for a guy who was not our server helping us, we would have probably left. And they were not busy at all. The grilled chimichangas and fish tacos are my faves! Margaritas aren't too bad either! We'll be back and we'll be hoping for a better server!

La Catrina never lets me down! Definitely one of my favorite places to get Mexican food in stl. This last visit we had was probably some of the most delicious food I've had there. We came a bit closer to closing time and the staff had no issue seating us and was welcoming- so appreciated! We were seated on their patio outside at one of their large booths. We had a party of about 10 people and it fit us all super well. We ordered drinks first and then ordered queso and our entrees. I got a steak quesadilla and it was perfect! Deliciously cooked, melty cheese, and super filling. Definitely hit the spot! :) thanks la catrina!

We went to La Catrina Saturday night and, we can't wait to go back! We only had a 15min wait, also the vibe was amazing with the music, atmosphere! We ordered the Carne Asada Tacos with a Quesadilla Fajita with rice/beans all 10/10! It was super fast, we had a booth with a lot of space since we have a toddler. Our waitress was amazing I wish I remembered her name, the margarita was also great! I can't wait to go back!

Awesome spot for Mexican food in the Hampton area! You're greeted by very friendly service and complimentary bottomless fresh chips and salsa! We also got the guacamole and queso - both were delicious, loved the guacamole especially. I got the Chimichanga on the Grill with chicken, it was really good and super filling! It came with a generous of rice, refried beans, salad (lettuce, pico), guacamole, and sour cream. Loved it. My friend got the enchiladas and really enjoyed those. The quesadilla was huge and very filling. My other friend got the shrimp taco soup which she really enjoyed! It even came with side tortillas. They have an indoor and outdoor space, overall it was a great experience!

My husband and I have been here a number of times, we've brought our (adult) daughters and their partners, out of town visitors, and we've recommended it to friends. Some of our friends went on our recommendation and enjoyed it. Again, I have to say that we love the vibe, the staff, and the food - probably equally! We sat out on the covered patio last night. It was pretty hot out, but the cover and the fans made it feel okay out there. We ran into neighbors as we were leaving. It's about 35 minutes from our house and we have never seen anyone we know there. They were enjoying it as well! The only negative I can think of is the restroom situation. There is one restroom with one toilet - plan ahead! There's usually a line. We'll definitely be back!

It's not authentic guac with chunks of guac, instead it was creamy and didn't have a clumps of avocado or flavor. It was more of a blended consistency with just a smashed avocado flavor. The chips were awesome! I ordered the mahi-mahi tacos. The first one that was brought to the table was fried so well done the fish inside was rubbery and dry, and the outer coating was black. My waiter apologized, visually confirmed that the dish was not right, took the dish and 5-10 minutes later brought out the same dish, assuming this one would be better. It wasn't. The fish was overwhelmingly fishy smelling, dry and overall, I felt like I would've had a better meal at McDonalds ordering their Filet o' fish. Ugh! The waiter took the one bite eaten from the taco dish and removed it from the ticket. He asked if he could bring me something else, but so much time had passed between the last 2 mix-ups that for me to order anything to replace the meal, my party would've left me at the table so I just had chips for dinner. Where I see an issue, is one would think a manager would've come over apologizing, or something. Yet, I felt like the bad guy sent to her room with no dinner. When the bill came, the waiter, what I feel like intentionally put the bill directly in front of another person from our party rather than in the center of the table. Probably because that person loved his meal... A person in my party got the 3 taco dinner- only ate one taco. Packaged up the other two tacos. I paid, tipped 20% assuming it wasn't the waiter's fault. And we walked out. We got to the front door, the person in my party that had boxed up the 2 tacos realized she left her box at the table, turned around 1-2 minutes after leaving, went back to the table and our waiter said he threw away the box! It wasn't busy ... I understand wanting to clean a table, but there should be some protocol of if this happens, maybe the bussers have x number of minutes before they throw away a meal that someone intentionally boxed up to take home. So -2 stars- I won't go back but if you try this place you might get something delish. My hope is you fall on the positive side of these reviews.

My friend and I stopped here for a last minute drinks and dinner. We each had the house special, I think it was called the Cadillac margarita with salted rim, iced not frozen, and we got the jumbo. OMG I couldn't even finish the jumbo. It was very strong and big, had to take it home to try and finish it. A wait staff dropped off chips and salsa and the chips were just not that good. I asked my friend what she thought and she said the same thing I did. The salsa did help but if I opened my own Mexican place I would serve the best chips I could find. I know they're free but many places offer some kind of free snack (Helen's has popcorn, some places still offer salted peanuts...) and I think it should make one think the chips are good the food will be better. As I was drinking I wanted some food and we got two chicken burritos, they were large and very good!! They were 2 for $14 if that gives an idea on cost. While I live just a few minutes from here, I haven't seen enough in 2 visits to say I'll keep coming here for Mexican, there are many other places in South St Louis to try. Oh and I swear the bar "stools" are big enough for two people. I probably look comical on one as my friend and I may have been able to fit into one stool.

It's been a few weeks since I had any pocket cash to go out to eat... so I decided to pick a food…read moresource at random for a Saturday afternoon, and I'm SO GLAD I did... You know how they say one of the best things about Mexico is the food? I have to admit, I would honestly wouldn't know and just have to trust the stories I've heard, as I've never been lucky enough to go to Mexico.... But all my life I've heard stories about people who go and basically remind you.. NEVER hit a restaurant for _authentic_ Mexican food. You want to hit the street vendors. Well, St. Louis has a fantastic surprise.. Now you can do that right here in the city! Part of a three-restaurant set up, Amigo Sole is the "street vendor" restaurant that's not on the street. (And having met the owner of the full set-up, I'm REALLY hoping i get invited to the grand opening of Jekyll & Hyde) As it was middle of the day Saturday, I didn't ask for anything alcoholic (so i don't know if the reviewer that asked for alcoholic beverages and was told they didn't have any was just unlucky or if it was true.) But I'll take a Mexican Coke over American Coke any day of the week (NO, get your minds out of the gutter.. not that powdered one!). Anyway, I went simple for a quick stop, and went with the Chicken Bomb. at the recommendation of the cashier and he was quick to name this one off.. (and always remember cashiers, have a favorite READY, so thumbs up to the cashier on this one!) . And then to my amazement.. no more than 5 minutes later, HOT, tasty, cheesy, chicken quesadilla style BOMB-diggity! (Ironically this one is not listed on the website menu, only the instore menu? Come on Sole, online is everything today :) ) Absolutely delicious food.. and absolutely messy too, as it literally would fall apart in my hands.. (HEY, that's a good thing!) As for the decor.. 100% true, as Amigo Sole definitely has SOUL! (and lots of soles!). Again Amigo Sole isn't designed to be a 'great sit down' restaurant, it's designed to be street-vendor FUN!!!! and with what decoration they have, it pulls it off fantastically in my opinion. So just based on my meal, what the owner told me about the Amigo Sole, you're getting EXACTLY what you're promised a Mexican street vendor serving fantastic Mexican street vendor food, only with a roof over your head the entire time. During the meal, met again (Who i believe to be) the owner of the store and talked with him about Amigo Sole and how amazing it was to me... and he told me about the three-restaurant combination. (And I apologize sir, but I completely forgot your name when we talked!). even mentioning they share three kitchens when it gets busy (so I was kinda lucky as i think the rain scared everyone out for the day), but I'm still hoping for the Jeckyll & Hyde invitation! (I'll even pretend to find a date if I have to for the upscale part!)
