They have a big selection of Mexican pastries, including all the classic old-school favorites. The place is big, clean, and super welcoming. They also have beef, cream cheese, and chicken empanadas that I might try next time. They have a fridge full of ready-made cakes, which is really convenient. The coffee was just okay. They do have a small parking area, which helps. Overall, a solid spot for pan dulce!

Was looking for a bakery near by to buy a cake. My cousin saw this place was close by and suggested we go check it out. Parking in the font limited to 15mins and there's no space to drive around it's literally the parking space and main road. The inside is clean and the pastries and bread were all behind the display window. The bread and other pastries are self serve they provide tongs and a tray. The cakes are beautifully displayed and we ended up getting an Oreo chocolate cake and asked if they could write on it and they did a beautiful job. We also ended up getting a concha, eclair and a cuerno. Everything was good love the bread it's perfect to pair with coffee. The Oreo cake was amazing moist and delicious. The staff is friendly. Would definitely return.

The absolutely best Pan dulce I have ever had. Absolutely delicious, rich and moist. We went to pick up bread in the afternoon and the bread was still sooo fresh and amazing. The parking is very limited but it is so worth it I can't recommend it enough and will only purchase sweet bread from here.

Stopped by this cute shop since somebody recommended this place during our dinner. Came in at around 2ish, they had several options for breads and cakes. We selected their best seller conchas and and a few others. They got a busy with a cake order and they made us wait a bit until somebody came from the back and finished packaging our order. La Concha Bakery has always been a South Bay staple--tucked off E Street near 3rd Avenue--but I hadn't been in for a while, and it looks like it's had a bit of a zhuzh! Maybe the renovation happened a while ago (maybe even a year or more?), but it was new to me--and it looks great. Fresh, welcoming, and still holding onto the charm that makes it a neighborhood favorite. We grabbed a box full of goodies, and I have to say--the chocolate chip cookie surprised me the most. It had that nostalgic, gooey-chewy vibe that reminded me of a classic Mrs. Fields cookie. My wife's favorite was the pumpkin empanada, and all the hot empanadas behind the glass looked amazing. We tried two: the spinach with ricotta and the chicken. Both were incredibly buttery, flaky, and flavorful--you can tell they put care into their dough. We're saving the rest of the treats for our kids (trying to be good parents... for now), but we'll definitely be back for more. If you haven't been in a while, now's the perfect time to stop by and treat yourself. La Concha's still got it--just with a fresh new look! We will def be back to try more!

Saw this bakery on TikTok and thought I would give it a try while I was in town. I went in earlier, so they had a lot of options. I bought a couple of vanilla concha's, some empanadas, donuts and a cortadillo. The empanadas were amazing! I do admit I don't eat those too often, but these had great crust and the filling was just the right sweetness. They were a little deflated, but I personally don't need a lot of filling. The flavors I got were Lemon, pineapple and guava. The lemon was my favorite. The donuts are average. The texture was a little dry and the icing is easy to melt and come off. The conchas were so tasty. The texture was nice and soft and the top was a nice added little sweet flavor to compliment the bread. My favorite was the cortadillo! All the cortadillos I have had in my life were always dry and the top layer hardly had flavor. This one was everything the others never could be. The breading was nice and soft. The top white icing had a nice sweetness, but not over sugary. I could use a little less bread, but I feel that's my personal preference. So this one was close to perfection. As for service, well it's not great, but it also isn't terrible. I feel like I probably would have to be a regular to get a positive vibe from them. This isn't going to deter me from going back again.

Excellent! The moment I walked in I realized I was not as the usual Panderia. Oh No No No...this is next level! The selection of the quality is amazing! They have bakers throughout their business hours rotating fresh baked yumminess all day! The level of quality selection and execution of bake is amazing. The shop is super cute. The staff is super friendly just a gem.! I had a huge order for a birthday party Valentine's Day weekend. It was beautiful!

This is a great Mexican bakery, which I discovered simply by driving down E Street. I picked up a couple of Mexican Croissants, also known as cuernitos, and a "nuez" pan dulce. The butter croissants were $1.60 each, and so was the nuez. Both breads were terrific. I had both croissants at room temperature, and their texture and flavors were very good. The nuez I heated in my convection oven, and it was outstanding. It tasted great. I really liked the variety of Mexican sweet breads this bakery offers. They also offer hot savory empanadas. The place was very clean when I visited, and the ladies at the counter were super sweet. I will be back for sure!

This is one of my go to places for Mexican sweet bread. Every morning they bake everything fresh so if you go in early enough you might get lucky and get warm bread in the morning. All of their sweet bread is very authentic just like what I've had in Tijuana. The prices are very good and it it worth the trek over to Chula Vista to enjoy freshly baked bread and pastries. read more

It pains me to do this but after two incidents with Claudia, the manager, I think it's important that the owner becomes aware of her unprofessional behavior. Two years in a row, I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday. Last year, the cakes (2) were smashed upon pickup because they were sealed in a box when they were taller than the box itself. I called Claudia to fix it and she YELLED at me about her frustration with the situation. However, she did come straight to my house, picked them up, fixed them, and brought them back. The cakes were really beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Although I did have a sour taste from last year, I decided to try them again. So I sent Claudia an email a few days before my daughter's party and told her I needed a cake by Saturday. She said no problem, we talked about what I wanted, I sent her a pic, and I CONFIRMED that I would pick it up Saturday and asked what time would it be ready. That was on Thursday and by Saturday, I still didn't get a response. So I called the bakery and the guy who answered said he had no idea about my cake and would call me back. Nobody called me back. Instead, I got an email from Claudia asking for a deposit on the cake an HOUR before I need it! So I found Claudia's cell number in my contacts, called her, and asked her about my cake. She immediately got defensive, starts yelling again and said I had NOT confirmed the order so she didn't know I still wanted it. My last email said what time should I pick it up? Is that not a confirmation?! Then she said normally I would need a deposit yet she had never asked for one in the emails. I was fed up with Claudia yelling at me and hung up on her. I have been a loyal customer for the past few years. I should also mention I chose this bakery to cater my wedding in 2015 and had no issues with that order. I wanted this place to be our special bakery and I used to go in all the time to get pan dulce for most of our family events. I'm so disappointed in Claudia and her lack of professionalism and accountability. I let my whole huge Mexican family know to not buy from this place anymore. read more

Their concha bread was above average in taste. The price per concha is $0.70 each. At this price I expected the sweetest of bread. Honestly from my experience, their conchas weren't any different from any bread at a mexican supermarket. The price didnt match my expectations. For this 2 stars. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

I ordered a napoleon cake with whipped cream for my son's 8th birthday party. They added an edible picture I took and it looked impressive. Everyone at the party raved how moist it was and delicious. They do need al least three days advance notice before the celebration to have it ready. read more

Drove from No County down to CV to get it and bring it back up to North Park for a get together....it's that legit. Brought dozens of chicken, beef, and spinach empanadas to the party. Tasted amazing and a total hit with the guests. Super crispy and flakey crust. They wiped it out within minutes. For dessert, we did eclairs...delicious and also completely wiped out by guests. Again great crust with the perfect amount of sweet and creamy. Their mini custom cake with graphics was super cool. Nobody touched it because it looked like art but I've had their cakes before and they taste better than they look which is hard to do! I'm in a way glad that the bakery is in South Bay and I'm in No. County, otherwise I'd weigh 700 lbs. Great little neighborhood place and nice staff - worth a trip if only for a Cafe Moto coffee. read more

I was shocked how expensive the mexican bread is here. Also the champurado a cup that is a small is their large for $3.00! I can easily get a large at Northgate for $3.99 and its 4 times larger. The bread is not any better than at Northgate or other local bakeries. Save your money or get a lot more for it elsewhere!!! read more

The poor rating is not due to the bakery products but the fact that they do not list the price of the individual bakery items. It isn't until you check out at the cash register that you realize their prices are considerably higher than other similar bakeries in Chula Vista. I have inquired three times about the need to post their prices and each time it is ignored. Lost my business due to poor business practice. read more

jeezus. why hadn't i reviewed sooner!!! La Concha is fckin BOMB. blows Northgate and any other pan dulce place out of the water. THe workers are so funny and nice and the breads are just, THE BEST. we got that little sea shell looking thing with white cream inside & i think i love it more than my husband, oops. also tried a cherry empananda DELICIOUS. my cousins got conchas and they loved them. lets just say i am here once a week and its worth the drive! read more

I ordered my grandmothers 80th bday cake from La Concha and I must say that it was the best cake we ever had. Everyone at the party commented about how delicious it was. Unfortunately they decorated my cake wrong. I clearly stated I wanted a cake with a skull on it, a dia de los muertos cake. The lady suggested to add flowers I said sure. Then they gave me a cake with just flowers and nothing in the middle of the cake. I sent someone else to pick it up and didn't see the screw up until they brought it home so I decided to call and let them know of the mess up and they didn't offer me a discount, and they didn't offer me my money back. I'm very disappointed that they gave us the wrong cake but I guess screw ups happen but they definitely shouldn't happen when they make you pay in advance. If I wanted a basic cake like the one you gave me I would have just went to Albertsons. Next time you order from them let them know about this review and tell them well how do I know you're going to make my cake correctly? Why should anyone give a deposit or pay in advance for screw ups? I thought you give "Security" deposits so that everyone is sure that the cake will be done correctly and will be paid for. Worst Customer Service Ever! This was my first time coming to this bakery based on the reviews. So I wanted to try it and get a cake. Old lady in the back counter making the cakes has the worst attitude. I came in today and was trying to decide on a cake and asked the guy in the register which one he recommended. Well my luck he was lost and couldn't answer my question. He decides to ask the lady in the back which one was the best. Well in Spanish rudely says I don't know what she likes? Well if I'm asking for an opinion because it's the first time coming in you should know there's a popular cake people go for most common sense! Well as if she didn't want to even help me she rudely says the triple chocolate. Well thank you for the first time experience will not go back. Plus the cake I purchased the melted chocolate was sticking out from the sides as if has been in the fridge for a while and the color coming off. A waste of $23 dollars should of just gone to my regular bakery. If it was my choice zero stars! read more

This last visit we got Ensamayda (cheese roll) for our daughters. They also have the Ube Ensamayda. Besides the small sized pandesal we selected, we got a Mocha Roll too. Everything was delicious. I like the small sized pandesal but I could definitely eat the larger ones too. Parking is crazy here in this long strip mall full of food shops. Not only is parking crazy busy, but the spaces are small. You can find me back here at this Filipino Bakery when in the area!

They have a small shared parking lot with Church's Chicken. It was easy to park in front of the business at 9am today. The gentleman behold the counter greeted me right away, and was very patient while I made my selections for a dozen donuts. I also decided to try their HUGE Jalapeno ham and cheese croissants. These donuts were fresh, fluffy, doughy and delicious. I tried the sugar, glazed, boston creme, maple bar, raspberry and strawberry filled donuts. Yes! They are all amazing. The croissant was also fabulous. Light, airy, flaky, buttery layers hid the jalapeno ham cheese filling in the middle. I didn't get too much jalapeno, but idc I loved the croissant anyway. I paid $29 for a dozen donuts and the two gigantic croissants. This place is old school- There were paper i. o.u's taped up beside the cash register...some had written the dates that they paid up for some items, so obviously this establishment has a loyal and trustworthy customer base and community relationship that is hard to find nowadays. I will definitely come back and perhaps pay it forward for some of those i.o.u's!

Just had a very bad experience with a young man who is supposed to be in charge!!!!!?? I was trying to park in front in order to go in and purchase some bakery goods. A drunk transient was passed out on his wheel chair and his bottle of liquor all over the parking lot effectively taking over 2 parking spots !!! It was in such an awkward angle that I could have hit him with my car. In the meantime this worker never made any effort to help me. When I finally parked the car on the other side; I went in and I understand it is a Mexican bakery but all kinds of people from various ethnicities shop there. I have been going there for a long time. I have told this guy that I am NOT Hispanic he still keeps talking Spanish to me ???? So I had to stop him for the hundred time and tell him to speak English. Well he did not like that ??Furthermore when I told him about the situation in the parking lot ,he yelled out that it is all right with him. I asked him again are you sure he said yes to my astonishment !!!!!!! Today I mentioned the incident to the owner, she did not seem to want to take action in order to correct behavior ? Nothing bad about the bakery really itself. BUT the EMPLOYEES themselves are the worst to work with! I pulled into the parking lot and THIS random guy from the bakery comes running up my car telling me I can't park there! When first, he did not know what the hell I was doing there in the first place! He didn't know if I was going into the bakery shop. Or parking in front of the business next door. Tells me I need to move and as I'm trying to drive away instead, he attempts to BLOCK my vehicle with a metro PCS stand!!! I push it away with my vehicle, I STILL park there and decides to pull his phone out and take pictures of my vehicle for NO APPARENT reason! Now he gets into a verbal altercation with my husband threatening to call the police because I pulled into the parking lot to PARK MY CAR to walk into the appropriate business!! He becomes a threat now, only because I also had a 2 year old DAUGHTER in the car! Who knows if he's a child molester or not! BUT NEVER WILL I EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO THIS BUSINESS SPECIFICALLY DUE TO THE PEOPLE THEY HAVE WORKING FOR THEM! AND ON TOP OF THAT TO BE HARASSED THIS WAY FOR PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT TO PARK MY VEHICLE! UNACCEPTABLE! read more
