Our server was very patient and helpful as we decided what to get, and she even brought out extra paprika in case we wanted to make our medium sauce spicier since I was having trouble deciding between medium or hot. (I enjoy spicy foods and the LA Cajun medium was a good amount of heat for me to be able to eat a lot of the flavorful sauce.) After I experiencing Angry Crab and The Boiling Crab in Cali I was disappointed. I was only loyal to Hot N Juicy. However, my friend wanted his birthday dinner here so I came here for the first time. My friend warned me that their spicy is pretty spicy. They said they got medium and they were dying. I was pretty scared since I don't handle spicy. I ordered the Crawfish with Garlic Butter with mild spicy with a corn ($12.99 for the season & 85 cents for the corn) The waiter told me I wasn't able to get no spicy. I also ordered raw Oysters 6 for $8.99 and Cajun Fries ($2.99). We didn't wait too long for the food. They gave us a bucket, gloves, paper towels. The service was okay. He checked on us for the first few minutes but when we needed water he wasn't around. The food was actually really good quality. Big portions. I had no complaints. The spicy was tolerable too. The young man who waited on is fell seriously short of what good service stands for. We had to ask two other servers for utensils and napkins he also dropped our meal in my gator nuggets sauce spilling it all over the place and the crab by no means was it fresh it had a very strange smell to it. We had sausage and boiler eggs added to our crab broil the sausage was very good it had a smokey flavor to it and the boiled eggs were boiled to perfection. My strawberry pina colada was excellent very yummy and had lots of liquor in it but not enough to change my review on the sub par meal. This place is located kind of in a shady part of Mesa so make sure you don't leave any valuables in your car and lock it up. read more

The first time I dined here, the server was fantastic and the food was pretty good. This time I left disappointed and I'm not certain that I'd jump at the chance to return. The quality of the food seems very mediocre to me. I believe that the snow crab was over cooked as it wasn't very easy to remove the meat from the shell at all. I don't know if our server was new, but she didn't seem all that interested to be there and did not ask if I wanted a drink refill. When I asked about their dessert offerings, she kept calling the Beignets "Baguettes." That aside, I just didn't feel that there was any quality represented in my dinner. I've had better quality and experience from Angry Crab Shack. So alot of these crab boil places are popping up around town but so far LA Crab Shack has the best "special sauce" or 3 sauce blend that I've tasted between them and Angry Crab & Hot & Juicy. I ordered 1 lb of Snow Crab and 1 pound of head on shrimp. Now I honestly prefer the heads off but before they used to literally take the heads off the shrimp but now they use a completely different shrimp.for heads off and when they cook up they are smaller and aren't as succulent. So I just take the loss and order the heads on so I get the bigger shrimp but have to de-head (is that a word? Lol) them myself. I personally think it's worth it but it'l is more work. I ordered the chargeilled oysters, ehhhh I probably won't order those again but I did like the Mango Daiquiri. Granted your hands are so frickin messy that you don't barely want to touch your glass...but since I usually don't drink alcohol with my main meal it works for me. Once I was full I used the lemons the wash my hands (it cuts the grease) at the table and then drank my good ole Daiquiri. I'll definitely be back here cause I looooove me some seafood and the fact that you don't need a fork or try table manners cause your food is served in a bag and on paper! It's great...it takes a little getting used to at first, not having a place setting and eating with your hands but once you get out your head it'll be great! I got a Seafood Boil with the Rajun Cajun (Spice Level 3) with shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, corn, and clams. I was met with an unpleasant surprise when I peeled my shrimps, and I was so shocked by this discovery that I messaged my friend from Louisiana to see what was up with my shrimp. He told me that it wasn't deveined and that all the particles were from it's intestines, and he ALSO told me that every seafood boil he's ever had included deveining shrimps. I'm not an expert on Seafood Boils by any means, but I thought this was incredibly disgusting because none of my shrimps were deveined. I don't know if it's actually shit but it sure does look like it. Yes, it's possible to devein the shrimp and still keep most of the shell in tact. People can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't find this particularly appetizing and it ruined my whole meal. The clams were okay though. read more

Everything is perfect! We came here for the first time celebrating my mom's birthday. Dining experience was excellent as well as the food. They accepted reservations and followed COVID-19 guidelines. We ordered the jumbo platter with a mix of Snow crabs, lobster, shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, clams, oysters, sausages, and Corn with the house special blend. Have gone here a few times since the pandemic started and the food wasn't quite as good. It was left in the fryer too long on one visit. During the worst part of the pandemic they made you order through some weird app (Spot On I believe). They wouldn't take credit card info over the phone. After my last visit, I can safely say this place is now on my favorites list. Service is always excellent, food is great and price is on point (I must apologize for our server on Sunday, I can't remember her name but she checked on us multiple times throughout our dinner and made sure we were doing good until we left). When we went there on Sunday, we ordered the same exact thing. The food this time tasted even better, with the calamari being hot and crispy and not at all soggy like the last time, the fish hot and tasty and the shrimp as delicious and good as always. The fish basket we ordered came with a cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Loved the tartar sauce with the fish! I don't know if my eyes were deceiving me that day but the shrimps looked slightly bigger than the previous time too! The food was served super quickly even though the restaurant was pretty full. Since the music has been brought up in so many previous reviews, let me say they have reduced the volume as of Sunday (Friday was slightly on the louder side). So glad we tried LA Crab Shack. The location is in an old strip mall next to AZ International Market. The server (Phil) was great and the restaurant was clean. I got the king crab and didn't think it tasted as good as I expect king crab to taste. The headless shrimp and clams were pretty good. The other items we tried were mediocre. The sauces are very tasty and can cover up mediocre seafood, but for the price, I expect the seafood to shine on its own. Overall, I would rate this place a 3/5, but due to the other places in Arizona not being that great either, I bumped it to 4/5. read more

WHAT'S HOOKED? ME OR THE FISH? I'm telling you now, a salted and limed Corona and some crawfish is the best thing since sliced bread. If you really knew me, you'd know I pretty much dislike any kind of food that I have to peel at or work for (#laziness). Honestly, I really wasn't all that hyped to come to a crawfish shop, but I took one for the team. So, the normal thing for me to do when visiting a restaurant such as LA Crab Shack is order Cajun fries, tenders or other easy-to-eat foods. As we browsed the menu, we started off with Oysters (so fresh!), Calamari and of course a Catfish Basket with lemon pepper fries,so so so yummy. Although I'm not crazy for crawfish, everyone else loves crawfish, they ordered a load of em'. We also got the Combo A (35.99 before tax) which comes with 2 pounds crawfish 1 pound shrimp, 4 sausage, 3 potatoes, 2corn, and 6 clams. We got the House Blend Medium, I thought this was perfect because we got to try a little bit of everything. I usually pick at the crawfish and sides to fit in with the "crawfish fanatics" then "BAM" flavors everywhere. The sauce is AMAZING. I started to pick at the sausage and the shrimp and next thing you know I was pretty into the crawfish and I couldn't stop eating it! It was so delicious! Since the first time, I also tried the Gator Basket and the Gator was sooo buttery, yum! I deducted a star because the first time I was there, it was almost like we had to ask for everything, and by the time we got what we needed, we were done with that particular dish. For example, our waiter had brought out our oysters, but no lemon, no salt/pepper, no horseradish or cocktail sauce. It took a really long while after our request for it and we had started to pick at our food. In my mind, this was annoying because these usually come with the oysters unasked. Another thing is that the sauce was inconsistent, and this has ONLY happened ONCE so far in the couple times I've been here. We ordered the same sauce and same spice for our crawfish (which was delicious) and clams, but the clams came out cringe-worthy salty. Pricing is pretty decent, average for a crawfish restaurant. Honestly, with the deducted star, I'd still come back, it was still a better than average experience and the place is so pirate/sea themed it's so cute, roomy too! I don't know why I am sure this young man has served us before but last weekend he was so what rude and slow. His face showed that he did not want to serve us. Like we were bothering him.
