The food is delicious. However I've been there twice now and the service is just horrible. As in it'll take you 15 minutes to even get your order taken and no refills type of service. OMG How did I miss that this gem had reopened in Glendale!! I have been eating at La Cubana since the tiny one opened in 1973. My family would wait at times over an hour for one of the few tables that were alway full. Followed them through their next two locations only to be saddened when the Maryland Avenue location closed. Since 1973 the food has remain constant and STILL is made the way my Mom would at home. Simple menu and food quality that makes each menu item great! This location is smaller and set in a strip mall with free parking. Our lunch of lechon and fried pork chunks was moist and not swimming in lemon juice like at Versailles. The moros, plantains and yuca were perfectly cooked. Huge portions so no room for dessert. Service was friendly and quick and was so happy to see a server that has been with this family restaurant almost since the begining. Will definitely become our go to Cuban restaurant once more! read more

I am so glad this place reopened. I've been going there since it was on Colorado. I always get the lechon with moros con yuca. It was very good as it has always been. We also got the flan which is the best around and the empanada was great. The service was fine, they don't have a liquor license but that's ok. The only negative is that the food needs a little more salt, at least it did on the Sunday we were in. I will be back! read more

I am often dismayed my the nastiness and vitriol in some of these Yelp reviews. Just go, eat and enjoy. Or don't! Our food was tasty, the shrimp were exquistos and my partner's NY steak was prepared perfectly. The potato and spicy ground beef dumplings, the white bean soup (more of a gumbo!) and the sweet plantains were the perfect way to end the day. We both had enough food to ask for doggie bags, so we'll be enjoying the food for a midnight snack! Free iced tea and homemade flan were bonuses. And no matter what Carol D. from N. I ordered the Vaca Frita with a side or Moros and fried plantains. Vaca Frita is one of my favorite dishes and this one did not disappoint. The portion size was large and the ingredients were fresh. I came here with my husband and in-laws and each of us order something different. We were expecting a better place, waitress very rude; 2 minutes with a menu and rushing us to order, impatience, the place is too small and they just want you to basically swallow your food and get out! Forgot my plantain with my order, the worst from the worst, when I went to use the restroom, someone left their feces and didn't flush the toilet, I probably wouldn't mind if it would, disgusting; I complained and they told me to use the men restroom, one more thing: I got my hand sanitizer out to clean my hands and suddenly the waitress pick up our plates and she also picked up my favorite hand sanitizer. Good food but that waitress is beyond full of herself. Once I asked her for a cafe con leche but she couldn't make it because she was by herself. Another time she was by herself and she was offering cafe con leche to the table of six next to us, they were her friends we later found out. Today there were two waitresses and we waited for ten minutes to have our order taken, I saw one of them on the phone the mean lady with the short black hair was just walking around. So I had left a previous 5star review and this one is based on todays service. Had I not try them before I would have rated them a one star. I'm not sure if it's because it's our first visit over the weekend and they were busier than normal or perhaps they have a different cook .... We ordered 3 plates, two lechon azados and a plate of rice with chicken. First of all the taste was DEFINITELY NOT what we had tried in our previous visits, food had no flavor, but we drove 30+ miles because we really liked their food and so we ate 2 of the plates. The lechones lacked spices, salt and flavor .. the rice with chicken.... well let's just say i have cooked similar if not better meals for my dog... Second, we ordered 2 coffes with milk upon arrival and by the time we were getting ready to leave they still didn't have them ready and not only that, but they mistaken our order by pure expressos. Third, we were not offered additional bread after our first basket was gone, we were given only one kid cup with iced water and that's because we asked for water , never were offered it nor refills unless we asked. There were 3 people on the floor, usually theres only one, I wouldn't say they were swapmed, its a small place with about 6 busy out of 7/8 tables available. We didn't fell welcomed either, something has changed about this place. Perhaps after this experience wears off we will give them another chance... read more
