I'm what you call a gringo and I reckon that this place is by far the best Mexicano place I have eaten at.

We had their Machaca, Chimichanga, Chile Relleno and Beef Burrito. All were amazing and the service was stellar! Our server Miguel was a treat to talk to and was very accommodating. If you like spicy sauces, ask them for their jalapeño sauce/salsa...not sure which it is but that and their regular salsa both have great flavor!! Definitely coming back soon!! read more

Tried for the first time last weekend on a recommendation from a neighbor. We were NOT disappointed! From the beginning, the service was amazing! Marisol was our server and we never had an empty glass or basket of chips. The homemade corn tortillas were SO good! Can't find those anywhere else. The salsas were perfect and food was outstanding! First time I came I was very impressed with the food. 2nd time I was disappointed. The place itself is spacious but in a easy to miss strip mall. The service was slow both times. Ahh. So being a Born and raised Texan I take my Mexican food seriously and my pallet begs for bold flavors. This is where La Doña fell short for me. The establishment nice, staff nice, even my to order had a nice refreshing presentation and that's pretty awesome for a styrofoam container. I could tell the food was indeed pretty authentic however the flavors just fell short for me. The food was technically cooked right however there was no depth, no richness and frankly it was expensive for enchiladas. Texas I could get a Three enchilada platter with rice, beans, house made tortillas for 7.50. ahh again that's just the Texan in me talking. I would like to see deeper flavors in the food. This type of establishment should be packed at lunch and dinner. read more

We found our New Mexican food place!!! I had the Chile Verde...the item I always try at a New Mexican place! I was so flavorful and the homemade corn tortillas were the best I have ever had. This is a belated review from a visit from last month, but I wanted to make sure they get the credit they deserve. My parents, brother, and I were in the area and wanted to find a local place for dinner. There weren't too many places open that weekend, but we stumbled upon La Dona from its good Yelp reviews. Initially, my family walked in and my dad, who is super picky, was so unimpressed with the looks of the place that we actually walked right back out and drove around for a while before driving right back after not finding any other suitable places. The place is a hole-in-the-wall that looks kind of like a Mexican sports bar inside. There were hardly any diners there when we went on a Saturday night. Lucky us that we came back because the food was excellent! I had the chicken fajitas, my brother had carnitas, and my parents had the fish. Every dish was excellent and tasty. We especially enjoyed what must have been handmade corn tortillas. They were so thick and soft and delicious. They are literally the best tortillas I have ever had in my life! The service was great too - very patient and attentive. So, moral of the story is, don't let looks fool you. This place has wonderful, authentic (I can't pretend to be an expert, but it seemed very authentic) Mexican food that everyone will love. read more

The food is delicious. My husband was craving authentic street tacos and that's exactly what he got. Restaurant was clean and service was excellent. We went for lunch on the weekend. Out here visiting our son from AZ and stopped here because of the reviews and 4 1/2 star rating. Thumbs down for us. We came in and were seated by a friendly waitress. Ordered our food and seemed like everyone walking in after us got their food way before us, felt like we waited way to long. We had to get up and get our own silverware when the first two plates finally came. The food was too bland, my pozole had no flavor at all. Chicken burrito special was ordered and it tasted like canned chicken which was a disappointment. The only good comment I can leave about the food is about the creamy green salsa with a little kick. Excellent, friendly service. The chile relleno was nice and spicy, and there is well-seasoned meat in the chicken tostada and beef enchiladas. Very meaty quesadilla, almost qualifies as a burrito. Portion sizes are pretty large, leaving the whole family full at lunch with food still left on the plates. Sides of rice and retried beans are pretty standard, and chips at the start are nothing special. But overall a solid meal, will return if in the area. read more

Honestly I'm am super impressed with the service and food. Super friendly staff! I was having a craving for spicy salsa Verde and called over the phone to originally place a pick up order, but decided to dine. The girl who helped me on the phone was also my server.
