This is the French Onion Soup. It was incredible and I can't wait to go back for more!

Food was very good. French Onion Soup was the best I've ever had. Ambience was incredible, wonderful day to eat on the back deck. Service was very good and very personable.

    La Paysanne crepe - delicious!

I came with my family and thankfully they had enough space to seat the 7 of us. The space is smaller, but they graciously combined tables together in the back room to accommodate our party. I ordered the La Paysanne crepe, which had eggs, Swiss cheese, turkey bacon, leeks, tomatoes, and cream. It was delicious! The crepe itself had a nice crispy exterior but was soft to the bite. The filling was very complementary, and I think all the ingredients went really well together. I was skeptical of the turkey bacon, but it was actually good. The size of the crepe was also very generous and I was very full afterwards. The dish came with a side salad which was a nice addition. Our service was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and the food came out in a fairly prompt fashion, given the size of our group. The space was small and quaint but clean. Overall, I enjoyed this place and would recommend trying their crepes. I can't speak for the tamales or empanadas, but the crepe I had was delicious!

Picked this quant place for the crepes. Incredible!! Quaint. The French onion soup is worth the stop alone. It's like being in a little French chalet bistro. They had heaters on the enclosed back porch room for us. We got toasty! It started snowing outside which made it even more romantic! The Nutella crepe at the end was perfect. They use traditional French whole grain batter -- I didn't know that was a thing! My chicken crepe could've used a little more flavor -- but I'm not a Parisienne expert. I will 100% return. I didn't like being told they were closed. We did feel rushed. They had JUST closed. But it had started to snow. I'll know if this is a problem when I return. (Note the hours -- they close early.) I also wish my bill was about $5 cheaper. But food really is pricey right now.

Cutest little cafe in Black Mountain with a mix of French & Latin/Mex cuisine. Crepes of all types, savory & sweet. And at 3 types of mimosas at Sunday brunch. I had the eggplant tamale & mushroom empanada both vegan. The sauce that came with it was excellent. My Bellini was tasty. We were a party of 8 & had excellent service. We were out on their cute patio & a thunderstorm popped up & they accommodated us inside. The sausage lentil soup & French onion soup were delish & everyone enjoyed this place.

What a perfect brunch!! Stopped in fo4 brunch with my college friends. It took us forever to order because everything sounded so delicious. We each ordered something different. Everything we ordered was so scrumptious. I had the beef stroganoff crepe...amazing! We also ordered dessert crepes which were also so yummy. The waitstaff was kind and very efficient. It was a fantastic meal. A block off the main streets of Black Mountain and set up in a little house. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Came across this restaurant when searching for unique dinner spots in the Asheville area. It's a very small house turned restaurant and serves crepes, empanadas and tamales. The staff was very sweet as only two ladies were serving people. We were the first ones in the restaurant but it picked up pretty quickly and could tell there were some regulars who came often as they knew the staff. We skipped appetizers and went straight to our entrees. I went with the La Normandie crepe which was filled with caramelized onions, leeks, brie, Swiss and cream. I also had one pork tamale because I can't resist a good tamale. It was delicious and plenty of a helping. My two friends had the empanadas and said they were nice and crispy. The meals were served with a dressed salad that had the best balsamic dressing! We couldn't leave a crepe restaurant without having a dessert crepe. We went with a nutella and seasonal fruit crepe. It was so sweet and the perfect way to end dinner. Overall it was a very cute restaurant with character and the food was satisfying. The dessert crepes were my favorite so even a good dessert stop along the way.

Very very cute place! The food was so fresh and so tasty. This place has a great vibe and refreshing views of the black mountain. I will surely come back here again when I am in this area.

The only and main requirement is that it definitely had Gluten Free (GF) options. I personally have other health issues, but Gluten, lactose or vegan isn't on my radar. So, I myself had to ask for suggestions. The name Juanchos Fonda was highly recommended and designated GF Colombian restaurant. I had heard for several years that this little "hole in the wall/strip mall restaurant" was a hidden gem. Looking at the menu on Google/Facebook just didn't appeal to me UNTIL now. Juanchos Fonda is located at 2619 Sweeten Creek Road #10, Asheville. Several of the party made comments to the effect do you know how many times I have driven by and never knew that there was a restaurant inside or I have seen the sign, but never considered trying it. I arrived quite early to introduce myself, and confirmed that a large group was coming. Jayson introduced himself and a little birdie had already spoken with him the night before. He and his staff were preparing our tables so Ellie and I took a quick stroll down the walkway to visit Retro Coffee Shop and owner Carrie. Retro Coffee has a variety of options for coffees, teas and desserts/pastries The pastries are by @Jaz Bakes. Carrie continues to help those that might need a little something to tide them over, her very small food pantry is available. Carrie always welcomes any contributions for the pantry. I love their Chai Tea and The Mafia coffee named by the Asheville Food Mafia as our favorite flavor of five other options. We returned to Juanchos and the table was in the final finishing touches. Within minutes the entire 16 were making conversation, welcoming hugs and meeting new friends. The owner Jayson introduced himself, his restaurant's concept, the menu, his special of the day, and large party gratuity. Our server, Cesar, was taking cocktail orders and Jayson informed the table of the special in-house Sangria. Several people enjoyed the pitcher of Sangria (hopefully someone can add that photo). The restaurant has a full bar for a wide variety of cocktails. Several people order different cocktails; Bloody Mary, Mojito, Mango Madness and a few others that I didn't hear those names. I was having a difficult time trying to decide what I wanted to try (everything Jayson mentioned) but after hearing his description of the menu I decided upon Picada Manera it's like what I would consider a Pu Pu Platter. The dish included; whole Red Snapper, octopus, lobster tail, shrimp, fried mahi, yuca, tostones, sweet plantain, fries, chimichurri, tartara, and guacamole. Growing up my dad ALWAYS had baked halibut steaks. I absolutely hated that because of trying to get the flesh without swallowing a fish bone. Well some few years later, ahum, what do I order a platter with a Red Snapper with bones. The first bite was the most delicious, decadent, well seasoned fish that I have ever tasted. Who cares if I have to eat tiny bites! The flesh comes away from the bones and I couldn't stop, but there was so much more to try. The octopus could have been cut with a spoon no knife needed. It melted like butter when being eaten. I have had some rubbery octopus and squid in my lifetime, but definitely NOTHING this tender EVER. I shared a few SMALL morsels with the others, because I knew I couldn't eat the entire meal by myself. The lobster tail and shrimp was equally as tender and you could actually taste the meat, not just the marinade/seasoning. I did try a bite of everything else when it was still fresh and hot. The remaining will be consumed tomorrow for lunch.

The food is *excellent*, the starters are great, the cocktails are delicious, we haven't had one dud on any menu item. The only complaint is the location, and *maybe* some of the servers don't have so much English, but in a place like this, that's charm and it's never been a problem. The host is helpful and energetic, the interior is charming and interesting. If this was in Asheville, or Biltmore Square, it would be going gangbusters. Just a great place, cannot recommend this one enough.

Wow, we made a great decision trying Mama Juana Latin Fusion. We had an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the host, we knew this was going to be something different. The host asked, and was genuinely excited when we told him it was our first time in. When the waiter arrived, he was excited to tell us about the menu, as well as the food itself. He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME! If you are on the fence, just try this place. You will be glad you did! They take a tremendous of pride in the quality of the food. The restaurant was very clean and had a great ambiance.

The outdoor seating was really nice on a comfortable summer day. In terms of the food, I was thrilled to find that they had a vegetarian platter that I could order off the brunch menu, so I went with it. It was reasonably good, but not exceptional. It was made up of a number of component parts that didn't always fit together. The cheese arepa was great. The fried egg was as expected. The mixed veggies underneath had the wrong tone for the dish. The shiitake mushrooms did add umami, but that was the wrong flavor profile. Not bad. They just didn't fit the rest of the dish. The fruit also seemed out of place. The house made chorizo was clearly a seitan product, and it was good. It was just a lot of seitan, and that's a product I try to avoid. In terms of the service, everything was exceptional. Our server was very nice and demonstrated exceptional situational awareness. She was present as much as needed, but no more. She was also fast, despite waiting on half the restaurant. I was able to get in and out quickly to get back to my day. All told, a completely reasonable destination. I suspect their meat based dishes might fit together a little better, but the vegetarian options could be improved.
