Don't waste your time. I've been here twice and actually have been able to eat there, then I've been another 4 times and they've been out fishing?? I took a friend there yesterday, well I should say attempted, we showed up at 1pm. Sign on counter saying they were out getting fish, no indication of when they'd return. So today, I was still in the mood for ceviche, Google and Yelp show them open, so I try to call, no answer. I throw a dart and drive over there again, NOPE, out fishing!!! I get it, things are hard. But good grief, maybe you can source your product when you aren't open. Needless to say, there are plenty of fish as you would say, I'm done with this place. If it's any consolation, the food is good, it's just not worth the inconvenience of driving there and parking and walking thru the dirt, only to find them closed. read more

So we went for lunch and got the massive taco Tuesday special and an order of bluefin tacos and a cucumber drink. The drink is so refreshing and unfortunately, the owner ( I think) came and told us they were out of bluefin but asked us if we wanted something else. So we switched to another order of the taco Tuesday special and she brings my refund for an order of bluefin tacos!! Wow- excellent customer service!! Sooo good! Regular civeche is tasty with plenty of shrimp, and the green one (jalapeños) is so good, but packs heat so be careful! The juice is amazing! We also came back for Taco Tuesday. And it's $8 for 2 STACKED tacos. Worth it. Hands down. We are so glad they opened the cookhouse and the Cevicheria is our favorite stop. read more

Got a snack of ceviche and chips to share from here and ate it outside on the benches. The ceviche was flavorful and refreshing, but compared to other ceviches I've had, it wasn't the best. It still had that ~fishy~ taste, which I get, like duh it's fish. But I'm used to having a fresher taste and scent when having ceviche. It was a little pricier than I would have liked too, but to be fair, I've been tipping higher than usual due to how COVID has been impacting small restaurants and restaurant staff. I finally had a chance to stop by Isla Cevicheria. It was a bit of a drive for me but well worth it. I ordered the fresh halibut ceviche bowl and the ahí tuna tacos with a fresh cucumber lime water and it was delicious!!! The food came out quick with generous portions, more than I thought I could handle but simply too good to leave behind. Shrimp on tacos under cooked, lettuce not cabbage on shrimp tacos, tacos so watery you couldn't pick up the soggy, rubbery tortillas- yuck! For the salsa with chips, the salsa was decent but the chips were sort of stale and lacked flavor! The rice we ordered on the side was NOT Mexican rice, just hard, dry unseasoned white rice! Didnt know about this place till today. So glad we decided to walk in. I was so happy when i saw that they had my favorite, the siete mares soup(seven seas soup). I was even happier once i tasted it. The flavor was amazing. It was so good that i went back there for dinner with my son. He had the blue fin tacos and i had shrimp and octopus cocktail and the mini quesadillas with shrimp. My wife and I stumbled upon this place when we were actually considering another place close by in the Vail historic center, located in the The Cookhouse Food Hall at Vail HQ in Temecula --- and are we glad we did! I should start by saying this place does not have a website (they need to get one), and it is located in what I would term a mini-food court, but that is really doing it an injustice. There are 4 eateries and they share a common indoor and outdoor eating area (when it says that they are not open for dine-in it is a little misleading, as you do have these two areas to sit down and eat). My wife ordered the Catch of the Day fish taco, which happened to be Sea Bass, while I ordered the Shrimp Burrito with the Chipotle sour cream. We also ordered the Chips and Guacamole as a starter. The chips appear to be home made and are thin and very tasty. However,, the guacamole was the star! It is plentiful, and chunky and they throw in a few diced tomatoes, onion, and I believe some type of chili pepper -- not spicy but tasty. And that's it -- no other filler and definitely not mixed in with sour cream. It was, without question, the best guacamole I have ever had -- restaurant or home made! My only suggestion is that they also serve some salsa with the chips (they have a chips and salsa option, but it is separate from the chips and guac). On to the main attractions: Let's start with the portion size; my wife's taco was really nice sized and she said that they gave her enough fish to easily make 3 tacos. More importantly, she said it was delicious. My burrito was almost laughably huge (I could barely hold it together with both hands it was stuffed with so many delicious shrimp -- and I'm 6'2", so I'm not a shrimpy guy -- pardon the pun.). But I wasn't laughing once I took a bite into it. It was more like I was creating a new language filled with "Mmmmm's" and "Oh my God's", and any other mumbling superlatives that I could muster in between bites. And, just as with the guacamole, I think this might have been the best burrito I have ever had. Now let me say this --- I am a native Southern Californian who has grown up with some pretty darn good Mexican food, from the streets of L.A., to the fish taco shores of San Diego. And I have had some really great Mexican food over the years. So, when I say that I these might be the best I have ever had, it is a pretty quantified statement. But, don't take it from me. Head on down and try it. It is located on Highway 79 South (aka Temecula Parkway) in the same center that has Wal-Mart and Kohl's (and across the street from Home Depot). Walk into the small little history center area and head mid-way to the food complex. Go now --- and you can thank me later. read more
