Great spot in Denny Triangle for a night out - Madrid vibes with great cocktails and tapas. We had the chefs tasting menu and added on the patatas bravas because how do you have Spanish food without potatoes? The tasting menu was shared cold and hot tapas, and then we got to select our own mains. All the tapas were delicious - favorites were: - the scallop crudo - light, fresh, beautiful presentation - carpaccio - interesting play of textures and decadent flavors between the dry aged strip loin, truffle and goat cheese - patatas bravas - thousand layer potato sticks - crunchy, tender, classic bravas sauce For the main I had the black cod with kimchi and gazpachuelo sauce. The concept was good, the execution was a mix. Nice portion size and the sauce was delicate and complementary. However while I'm a kimchi fan, it way overpowered the fish. Come for the tapas and cocktails but skip the mains. I was hearing about La Loba being the new place in town to try when i visited, and was lucky enough to swing by and grab a couple seats at the bar, and have actually been a couple other times after, but lets talk about this first trip. The bartenders, servers, and the restaurant setting were all a vibe, but we have to talk about some of the food so, lets get to it. Scallop Crudo: Oh yeah, these are a nice flavor bomb with the tom kha and the scallop was so sweet. This is a must. Patatas Bravas: If you've ever seen a patatas bravas, and wished it would come in giant fries form, then this is it. Nicely crispy and goes well w their bravas sauce. Pan Con Tomate: Aka Tomato Bread if you've been to a spanish tapas place these will please you. buttery soft bread and a nice serving of tomato on top. Setas Al Ajillo: OK so I'm not sure if this is on the menu any more, but this thing with i believe cremini and other mushrooms was a flavor bomb. Prob the best dish I had here, so here's to hoping they put it back on the menu for you to try when you visit. Tableside Butchers Beef Tartare: Now the show itself w the bone marrow was FUN to watch and interact w the server, but I like to consider myself a tartare connoisseur, and I've gotta say if you're serving a tartare with different sauces to try with the beef itself then thats a red flag, and if the tartare itself is bland by itself then a diff angle might be needed. Sadly, the beef by itself was flavorless even when topped with the bone marrow mixed in, and be sure to eat this quickly as the bone marrow and other fats coagulate quite quicky. Mostly just a bland fatty chewy bite, but oh yes we have sauces to save this pile of meat, and no lol they were all bad. I guess the only tolerable one was the chives/jalapeno emulsion, but thats not saying much this didnt make it better just more tolerable. The gochujang we were convinced was not made in house and most likely straight from a tub bought from the local HMart, and lastly the garlic aioli this was inedible and actually made it worse lol. Skip this. Pan Roasted Black Cod: So, this was not good at all. Extremely bland with Zero flavor, along w an almost rotten tasting fusion kimchi (and mind you i am half korean and am well qualified to speak on this topic) I dont know if the kitchen taste tested the kimchi before it was sent out but I was hoping that would be the saving grace to how bland the cod was. The cod itself tasted unsalted. Just pan roasted and tossed on top of some kimchi and gazpachuelo. Avoid this. The cocktails themselves are fun and adventurous. If you love a well crafted cocktail then this is a really great aspect of La Labo. I've come back specifically for the cocktails. So what did we learn here. Mo money = mo bettah? No lol stick to the smaller dishes and more specifically the hot and cold tapas. All this comes at a cost, and just know you'll spend a pretty penny here. I do believe they have a happy hour here at the bar, so if it still exists and you want to squeeze out more value here definitely come by during that. Overall a good addition to the the scene, but just some misses along the way. As stated I've been back, and you should check it out too. read more

Was at Anima in Vegas (my fav restaurant in Vegas) and the waiter just casually drops that they opened a sister spot in Seattle!! Felt like the universe gave me a personal gift!! Moved here recently and suddenly this place exists, like it was waiting for me. Made a reservation immediately. Got the tasting menu because it was surprisingly affordable considering how much you get - I think it was $85. The scallops 5/5 - so stunning. Creamy from the coconut milk, soft in that perfect just-barely-cooked way, basically melted. One of the best things I've ever eaten. 30-day dry-aged carpaccio also 5/5 - and it honestly ruined me forever. That dish alone would've made the whole night worth it. Deep flavor, incredible texture, completely balanced. Locked it in as my go-to spot for any kind of celebration. The goat cheese inside is so crazy ugh Everything else was good (the eggplant, the pasta, the beef) but those two were def the absolute best. The place itself is also gorgeous. Ambitious, but ultimately unfocused and lacking in subtlety and refinement. The space is moody and packed with young diners, but there were numerous service issues and the pace of the dinner often felt hurried. La Loba is helmed by a James Beard-recognized chef, so my expectations were very high. Instead, we got a tasting menu that emphasized glitz and showmanship over a harmony of flavor and deft execution. More unforgivable was the service side of the restaurant, where the courses spilled out in frantic waves and the staff lacked polish and familiarity with the food. Now maybe I'm just the outlier here---the restaurant was teeming with young, hip diners---but La Loba felt a lot more style over substance. La Loba is located in the vibe-y 1Hotel, a boutique eco-hotel. Like the rest of the hotel, the space feels bohemian and design-forward. Where do I begin!!!! I'm giving this place 5 stars!!! Hand down. I came here twice in one week to celebrate my birthday month. The entire crew we're all so extremely present caring and listening to the guest wants and needs. These days I'm not so good at remembering names, it was more than clear to me that they worked as a crew and nothing was forgotten. I plan to return so many many many more times in the near future. Everything we ate and dranK SUPERB. I usually hesitate going to restaurants attached to hotels. I am so glad I gave them a try. I have been telling friends to go to La Loba for any event or occasion. Maybe the octopus with yummy masa fitters. Why not? Standouts among the wildly impressive plates that flowed in well-timed succession were the carpaccio and nettle risotto. Shout out to the expert hands of Chef Travis who nailed that risotto. His rabbit roulade was soulful, an exquisite touch. Recalibrations hardly worth mentioning were the generous espuma that gilded the lily on the eggplant dish and the satisfying wine by the glass selections that could be a more expensive curation or a wine pairing with the tasting menu. Entire front of the house team were welcoming and gracious even though I inadvertently arrived near closing. Excellent recommendations. Elegant dining room, sexy music let the food and the hands preparing and serving it remain the star. Even before I left I was plotting my return during my short stay; grateful for the experience. Can't believe we finally have one. Everything is still so new though some of the staff couldn't even explain where the bathroom was. Haha. Food wise we did a pre-fix tasting menu for the table. It was a great sample of everything they had in the menu. We added the caviar, octopus, oysters and cauliflower. I would sat 90% of the dishes we got were excellent. Ambiance was great and so was the food plating. It all looked very aesthetically pleasing and good for pictures. However, we did the food tasting menu and it completely slipped our mind to mention that one person out of us two are semi-vegetarian. The server in a rude tone said, "I asked about allergies and you said none". We felt he was rude though only one thing had come to our table at that point and both of us could eat that item (we informed them asap after glancing at the menu options again). He was gracious enough to be flexible with the menu after a little bit of back a forth. Also, I asked to order the pistachio tiramisu as an add on from the tasting menu and he said it was finished for the night. A table next to us that were seated way after us somehow were able to order the pistachio tiramisu for their dessert. Not sure what happened there but it did not leave a good impression to us. Overall, the food was very very salty and I wouldn't recommend it. Most of it was untouched because of the salt. We waited overall 2.5 hrs for all our food to come out and the server apologized for the huge delay which was sweet despite how our evening was going with him. The table next to us also did the same exact thing as us, one was vegetarian and they did the tasting menu. Same server, same problem. They chatted with us too complaining about the saltiness of food and servers demeanor. The other table next to us also had complained about the food. Not sure if it was a one off day for the kitchen but I was really surprised given how much people have been posting this place. Parking was also a huge pain. We couldn't figure it out. Street parking was also horrible to find on a weekday night. Ended up doing valet which was fine. I wouldn't recommend eating here unless you're here to snap some pics to post. read more

Located in Hotel 1 ( past the bar area if you're entering through the hotel lobby) - not much parking so plan accordingly as it may be tough to find it on the street. I went to celebrate my best friend's birthday and our group had a wonderful experience. I was a big fan of the aesthetic. It was a modern contemporary bohemian vibe with ambient lighting, lush greenery, and nature inspired art. I appreciated the initial explanation of what was featured on the menu. Our main server knew exactly how to highlight everything leaving us without any questions at the end of his spiel. There was a lot of team work amongst the staff and felt that we had multiple people contributing to our fantastic dining experience. We went with the tasting menu, $85/person, which I thought was a great deal. Since it's a tapas styled menu, everyone in your group will need to be in agreement with going the tasting menu route, main courses are chosen by each individual as those are not served in a tapas fashion. All of the presentations and explanations of / how best to eat each dish were perfect. The timing in between each one was spaced out, leaving room for conversation. I got a gin based cocktail "Shrimp with the lobster tattoo". Well balanced, filled to the brim and also had a lovely presentation. I got the bucatini al ragu and my boyfriend got the beef cheek which was so tender and flavorful, perfectly paired with mashed potatoes. I overall loved the combination of flavors and depth of each dish. They curated the perfect bite in different styles and I appreciated the creative takes, they were all bursting with flavor even in a small serving. Favs were definitely the 30-Day Dry-Aged Striploin Carpaccio, Trinxat Croquetas, and the scallop crudo! They were also awarded a Michelin key recently! So glad we found this gem on our last day in Seattle. First off, the service was incredible. Nama (sorry if I misspelled/ mispronounced it), the hostess, was incredibly kind and accommodating. I had called earlier and asked if there were any reservations available and she said no but walk ins were welcome, and when I walked in she immediately knew it was me who called a couple hours earlier and was able to get us a seat at the bar. I really really appreciated her service. When we sat down, our waitress, Thalia, gave incredible recommendations. We ended up going with the scallop crudo, the eggplant parmigiana, and the beef cheek. We also ordered some drinks- the Spicy Stories and the Monte Python. The spicy stories tasted similar to a margarita- it wasn't too sweet and had a nice Smokey and spicy flavor to it. The monte python wasn't overly carbonated and was very smooth. The scallop crudo was delicious and probably my favorite dish. It was very well balanced and very refreshing. Coming in a close second was the eggplant parmigiana. It was very light for an eggplant parm and instead of the heavy cheese, they had a light cheese foam. It was super tasty and my only regret was not ordering two. The beef cheek was super tender, no knife needed, it just fell apart and with the creamy mashed potatoes, it was the perfect combination. I wish we would have ordered more food and next time we're in town I'm definitely going to save my appetite and try the tasting menu. Thalia was amazing and gave great recommendations.
