BYO baguette with only 2 small slices of roast beef
    Marla R.

Came here because my husband said that the French dip was fantastic. And he again loved his. I'm not so impressed with $10 for half of a sandwich with literally 2 small slices of deli roast beef on it. I choose no other toppings so I didn't expect a lot, but more than 1 oz of meat was expected. And a handful of chips was my side. I was not allowed to add a side of au jus to my basic sandwich, so I had to use his - which was fine. But I actually just spread some butter on the bread instead and it was very good that way. In spite of not figuring out a way for me to have au jus instead of the cheese and other toppings, the order taker was friendly. I'll be back for bread and bakery goodness. But not for another meal that left me wanting.

Disappointing to walk into a French bakery at opening time and get served yesterday's croissant. I asked the cashier if the pastries are all from today and he said yes without blinking. From the looks of the dirty and sloppy display case, as well as the crust and old flavor of croissant, they are Not fresh. A French Bakery (or any bakery) should represent themselves well when it comes to baked goods, especially a croissant. Looks at the pictures and judge for yourself- I wouldn't waste my time coming here.

Have not been here in a very long time but we were out and about the other day and decided to stop and get dinner. I'm so amazed they are still here because we just never see big crowds here. But they are still here and we had a very good meal. They used to offer bread and jam but I guess due to COVID, that is no longer available. Wife asked about it and was told you just have to ask now, it's kept behind the counter. Not sure how anybody knows this unless you ask. They have a big dining area with two sides, separated by a fire place. We chose a table by the fire. They also have a separate dining room that you have reserve to host get-togethers, meetings, etc. Overall the place is well kept up and clean. They have a incredible case up front with lots of yummy pastries to look at it and order. You order at the counter and then sit and your food is brought to you. I ordered the Caesar Salad, which was just ok. I found the lettuce a bit too soft and wilted for my taste but the croutons were tasty and the dressing was ok. I also ordered the French Dip with caramelized onions. It was served on a toasted baguette with provolone and a creamy horseradish sauce. I really liked the sandwich...quite tasty and not too over the top with the horseradish. The au jus was good and flavorful...it could have been a tad hotter in my opinion. Wife ordered the Beef and Parmesan Potatoes, which is really a glorified Shepherds Pie. Ok...so this was the best dish of the night! The potatoes were fluffy and full of cheesy goodness and flavor and it was a hearty portion. Centered into the potatoes was gravy with chunks of tender beef, carrots and peas, and mushrooms. The gravy is made with red wine, which gives it the perfect hearty, homey taste to the dish. We didn't get dessert this time around. Overall a really good meal. Can't really speak about the staff because you have very little interaction with them. They were friendly at the counter when we ordered and maybe three words were spoken when the dinner was delivered. I toggled between a three and four star rating, reviewed my last review and decided to stay with four stars.

Where and what to eat on a rare cooler rainy day in Arizona... let's go for some great soup and sandwiches at this adorable French themed restaurant. The service was great and very welcoming..The tomato soup was a bit salty for my taste..but the grilled cheese paired well in it.. huge portions..had to take some for lunch the next day...still tasted good It really made you get a feel of French culture.. while in the restroom ..over the intercom ..so cute they went over common phrases in French.. Had a little bakery counter to purchase all your favorite French pastries there.. They do have an App too if you want to gain rewards on the money you spend. Great place for lunch.. I will definitely come back here to try out the other great food they offer.

Food was great! Everything I had was delicious. From my ham and cheese croissant, Nutella muffin, Nutella Crossaint and macarons . The croissant dough was your typical buttery, flakey but a little more dense so for me it was way better. I liked the concept of ordering your food from the counter and someone brought it to you. You get your drinks before hand so you can enjoy your tea, juice, coffee while waiting for your food. I would suggest pre ordering regardless your dining in or taking it to go. On peak hours the lines can get long hence your food taking a little longer to be served. They also have a reward program and an App so you can do the ordering that way as well. Now, I wish they had La Madeleine in San Diego so I don't have to wait to visit AZ just to eat their food.

5 Stars - A Beautiful Place to Work & Dine! La Madeleine is truly a gem! Not only is it a warm and welcoming place to enjoy delicious French-inspired food, but it's also an amazing place to work. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, the food is always fresh and flavorful, and the pastries? Absolutely to die for. What really makes La Madeleine stand out is the sense of community--both among the team and with the guests. Whether you're here for a relaxing meal or behind the counter making it happen, the experience is full of heart. I love it here and feel lucky to be part of such a wonderful environment!

Best coffee, best breakfast, period. For years now this place always hits the right points. My boyfriend and I come here once in a while and honestly never really disappoints. Truly love the taste of the cappuccino and I usually get the breakfast croissant (super good) but this time I tried the new French toast breakfast, and omg sooo good. The service was great, we went yesterday and the man who was in the register was also coming and going and doing so much. He was a really nice young man. The shop sometimes could do a better in cleaning... but other than that you are awesome

    Half eaten French vegetable soup

Very cute restaurant, lovely music, superb service. Coffee is also good, had the 'French Roast' and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the vegetable soup and it was pretty good, bread on the side is always a nice gesture. I wasn't too thrilled with the menu choices but that's just me, I'm gluten free and don't eat a lot of sugar and of course bakery items...if you do though, their pastries look fabulous. Service here is reason enough to stop by and enjoy a lunch or breakfast with your bestie.

Hot take: French pasta is sometimes better than Italian pasta. Waiting for the messages pouring in about how dare I say that?! For a little cafe, you'd be surprised how great the food is here! Definitely try the creamy pesto pasta, and it even travels well if you want to order through Uber eats like I did at work today. Only downfall to ordering is that you don't get the beautiful French style cafe and the friendly service, but the food more than makes up for it!

They have a larger patio space outdoors, which I asked and discovered they are dog friendly so happy to find another venue we can bring the girls to. The patio was still shaded when we left about noon so it's a good spot for pups. Two of our group was already seated when we arrived so we joined them upon arrival. Lisa, our server, immediately came over for drink orders and confirm we were still waiting for others to join. Lisa, was so patient and friendly while the group gathered and decided what to order. I asked for a glass of O.J. which was sans pulp for those who don't like it in their O.J. I prefer some to jazz it up but it was a good glass of juice. They have a good sized menu with both breakfast and lunch offerings, and it took a bit to decide on what we were eating. I decided on the Corned Beef Hash with two eggs over-medium and a pancake. I asked for it on a separate plate and she said no worries, that's how it is served. The hash was sooo good! Cooked to a crispy crust and so flavorful and not salty at all, which I loved because sometimes hash can be salty. It also came with hash browns, which were cooked perfectly and not greasy in the least. I asked for my eggs over-medium and they too were cooked to perfection. It came with one pancake (I chose this in place of toast) and it was good size cake, with a nice malty flavor. It's sprinkled lightly with powder sugar and a dispense of warm syrup was provided as well. Really good breakfast! Wife went with the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and sourdough toast. They serve a wonderful homemade blackberry jam with the toast, which was really good and jammy. She also had her eggs done the same way as me and they were cooked to perfection. The bacon was perfect and she commented about the hash browns being cooked to a crunchy outer and tender on the inside. Everyone else said their meals were just as good and everything looked delicious. Great breakfast find and we will be back! Thank you to all of the staff and cooks!

Always hoping a local recommendation turns out great. *Service: the service was fair. Our waitress spent most of the time sitting in the booth across from us on her phone and checked in occasionally. A few times we had to ask for things we needed. Nothing rude, just not especially attentive or engaged. Definitely didn't feel like her #1 priority. *Food: I ordered the tuna *melt*. It was alright, but nothing to write home about. The tuna itself was relatively cold (should have been warm on a melt) and lacked flavor, the cheese wasn't melted (it's a "melt", right?), and the bread was good. I dipped and drenched in salt, pepper, ranch and hot sauce to give it some flavor. The fries were good, hot and tasty. Overall, it felt like a mid-level café sandwich made by a basic "cook", not a well curated restaurant sandwich. My lunch buddy ordered a smothered omelette that looked great, and he said it was very good, so that was good. *Ambiance: the atmosphere was decent. Very basic, a bit cold feeling, café-like, casual, and reasonably comfortable. Nothing stood out strongly other than it seemed pretty clean and bright. *Value: my tuna melt and fries, with no drink, was $16. Not great, not terrible. It felt like an $8-$10 sandwich max for what I got, not a standout value. I posted a picture of their specials board so you can get a feel for the value. *Overall: everything here was fair, food, service, and ambiance while value was not great. Nothing bad, nothing memorable. A three-star experience for me. I wouldn't rush back, but wouldn't avoid it if I was in the area and others wanted to go. *Update: I have a strong reputation for detailed, honest, and trustworthy reviews. What we experienced is accurately and honestly captured in this review. There were no misunderstandings, our experience is captured exactly as reviewed. It was a holiday weekend so probably a factor but we were fine because we didn't have to wait and got seated immediately. Our server, Brittany, was quick to come over and ask for drink orders. We both just had water today as we had already had our coffee for the day! I ordered the Farmhouse Hash, which is (from the menu): Two cage-free eggs any style atop fresh, seasoned potatoes, bacon, avocado, house-roasted onions and tomatoes, Cheddar and Monterey Jack. Served with our whole-grain artisan toast. I had to ask for some other avocado as the slices I got were brown and yucky. Brittany apologized and brought a small plate of additional slices but they really weren't much better. Avocados are such tricky little things and when they have brown spots, I pass on them. Overall the dish was good and didn't miss the avocado. Wife got her favorite Million Dollar Back and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Both were great and perfect and if you like lemon...try these pancakes. They are so good! Overall a good breakfast experience.

When I think breakfast, I want something that sticks with me for a while. The fruit on the side was fresh, and the service was great. We also joined the waitlist online before heading over, which made things really easy. We walked right in and were seated almost immediately. I'd definitely come back, but next time I'd encourage him to try something a little more filling.
