Went to La Madeline Plano for a 7:30 P.M. Dinner. They were out of Rotisserie Half Chickens. Took over 20 minutes to bring out my daughter's pasta dish. How can you run a resturant where Chicken is the main ingredient in many of the dishes and you are out of Chicken. Last couple of times I have gone to La Madeline Plano, one thing or another has been off. They are now out of our starting rotation, Oh well many other good restaurants in that area of town. I was still hungry on my way home, so I ended up stopping to get a Half Chicken for take out. read more

There used to be a La Madeleine in Arizona, and when it still existed in Arizona it was a nice place to go for some French style foods and pastries. It was nice to revisit the chain, and try some of their desserts. The tiramisu dessert was good, but I was disappointed, but not very surprised to find that there wasn't any coffee in it, nor were there any soaked ladyfingers. It's rare to find an authentic tiramisu these days, and I wasn't looking for Italian perfection at a French restaurant chain. I tried a few other desserts, which were pretty tasty. read more

I love that the outside patio is close to Spring Creek (the water, not the road) so you have a traffic-less pleasant view while you eat. Who doesn't like La Madeline? For a chain, you can't beat the quality of the atmosphere (very French cottage like) or the food. Sometimes I have something off the menu or sometimes I just choose a salad and potato galette. The French dip is perfect, the chicken and broccoli is so delicious and fresh. The French onion soup is amazing, and of course you can't pass up the fresh strawberries with the sweet sauce they give you. SERIOUS ISSUES GETTING FOOD OUT OF THE KITCHEN. Average food -- predictable and pretty good. I'd give a solid 4 stars if the food could come out at the same time, instead of coming out one plate at a time (party of 4 when restaurant ass not busy) over a period of 30 minutes. Another thing I don't care for at La Madeline is that you walk as a guest and you don't know what to do. Do I sit down, is this like a cafeteria where all they have is in front of you, or is there a menu I can order from? Once a staff member explains the process and gives you the menu, you get to stand in everybody's way to order from it. After that, things get easier but still are not smooth. Food is country French, made fresh and very filling. But slow, disjointed service is an issue. The 1/2 Croque Monsieur sandwich comes with a side of soup and your choice of chips fruit or pasta salad. The sandwich was very good and arrived warm. Boeuf bourginon was a nice portion of big chunks of tender beef, mushrooms and pearl onions slow-simmered in a sauce of Demi-glacé and red wine, served over Parmesan mashed potatoes. Service is VERY spotty -- our dishes straggled out of a kitchen that was not very busy -- only 3 tables did not have their food when we sat down. Two Croque Monsieur sandwiched which needed to be cooked came out 15 minutes before a cold turkey sandwich, and the boeuf bourginon came out 15 minutes after that. read more

I have been going here for years and have always had a lovely experience. Recently I ordered "Togo" through a delivery service and was missing items. I love La Madeline but this location is going downhill. Recently they remodeled the food service area but they really needed to continue into the restrooms. Also, it seems like the bakery selection at this location just doesn't really stack up compared to others. I do love their food and the atmosphere in the dining area is quaint and fun. I'm not crazy about the new(ish) way of ordering...maybe it's just this location but I can never tell if I should order from the girl that is kinda-sorta standing there with a notepad or just order from the counter. It's weird. But, the tomato basil soup can't be beat (and a great hangover cure, I'm just sayin') and I'm always a fan of a Croque Monsieur. For some reason they did away with the pats of real butter and now offer that gross packaged stuff. Blech. For me the bread's not worth the calories with that cruddy butter. I do wish the corporation would be a little more innovative and bring out some new dishes, and not just new salads. read more

Decided to try this place Sunday since it is close to my house. My first thoughts upon entering was Panera with a French name. The coffee was good but the benedict was kinda bland, however being served on a croissant saved it. I'd probably come by to grab something to go in the future but I prefer full service breakfast places at least for these prices. read more

Worst service in the bakery. I am so disappointed these people are even still employed. I started ordering my to-go order and the guy said "oh you want to order?" Umm, yes....I ordered my food and I sat there watching them they move SO slow, there is no sense of urgency or good customer service. All I ordered was a sandwich, salad and cup of soup. I waited 20 minutes and I finally went up there and said is my order ready?? It had been sitting in a corner!! Who knows how long! I checked my bag and I had the soup missing. Seriously?? If this is your first time at La Madeleine, it is very confusing when you first walk in because you don't know whether to sit down or where to order, but after one of the workers explains what to do, it gets easier. Their potato soup, pesto pasta, caesar salad, and croque monsieur is amazing, and I definitely recommend trying out the listed foods when you get there. However I've had their chips before, and they're not that good, kinda stale when I ate them. read more

I Love the atmosphere of this Plano. I used have ocasional breakfast here and it is always good. The desserts are great as well.

I love just about everything about this place. The decor works very hard to be antique French, and for the most part it succeeds. If it's temperate enough to sit outside and eat, you should do so. It always brings memories of sitting at a cafe in Paris, which is nice because I love Paris, I just hate the French so here I get the best of both worlds. The tomato-basil soup is amazing. Like, holy-crap-I-think-they-put-crack-in-it amazing. Don't get the jarred stuff, the preservatives push the flavor off. Fresh out of the soup pot is the way to go. Really, sitting here I am hard-pressed to think of a menu item I don't consider amazing. Maybe the chocolate croissant, but ONLY because the chocolate almond croissant blows it out of the water so thoroughly. And that, I guess, is how they are most successfully French; you can't find bad food here. The prices are pretty good to boot, which means you're free to overeat whenever you want. And, a rarity for this type of place, the service staff are really nice people. I've been to several La Madeleine locations around the metroplex that they could as soon cut you as take your order, but at this location I've always had pleasantness. We are always at La Madeleine. It seems to be my guy's go-to. (I should maybe check his man-card for validation) Most of the time it's great. There are certain things I don't get there, like their cakes, unfortunately. Evert time I get one they're stale or dry or something not satisfying. I did find their Turkey Brie with apples sandwich, that I love! It's so yummy. I like the ambiance at all of the La Medeleine cafe's - especially in the colder months, the fireplace is awesome. Customer service is for the most part on par with any chain. Nothing to run home and tell your friends about but they get the job done, sometimes with a smile. read more

I love this place. Great ambiance. The people are extremely friendly. The lighting is perfect, not too bright, not too dim. Never have had a problem with the food preparation. They make you feel so at home that it's like your home away from home. I am a huge fan of the La Madeleines, but this is the best by far. None are run as well or physically designed as well as this one. I go there 2-3 times every week without fail. I give the top rating and would add another star if I could. read more

Here for "brunch" I love coming here because there's never a long wait and the food is good. Today I tried the cinnamon French toast for the first time. I loved it it's made of cinnamon raisin brioche and topped with fresh fruit. It was pretty awesome. Been to this location twice. The salads here are excellent along with the on site bakery. The service can be a bit slow since salads are made one at a time by one person but it's really yummy- so the wait is sometimes worth it! The space itself is very spacious and cozy and prices are in the ballpark $8-$12 per person. An excellent alternative to panera when I crave a great salad. read more

Sorry to say that the staffs at this location are not friendly, bordering to rude. My wife and I went here with some friends, and we had unpleasant experience there. From the get go, when my wife was ordering our food, the person who takes the order was unfriendly. Then she mixed up our order! I first went and spoke with the lady who took the order, but she keep misunderstanding the situation, and she pointed me to the manager. When I spoke to the manager, he keep cutting my sentence and won't let me finish talking. He was quite argumentative and I sense no sympathy toward my situation at all. In all of these process, I hear no "We're sorry we messed up the order" at all, which is the least they can do. They lost a customer, we'll never go back there. read more

The restaurant was chaotic the minute we walked in. Stood in line for 5-7 minutes. Placed our order, waited 25 minutes for part of the order to show up. Keep in mind I have a 14 month old with me. Walked up to the counter 35 minuted after placing the order only to be backtold "oops we gave you eggs Benedict to another table", huh????!!!!!????? Waited another 20 minutes for Benedict to show up. Came today for lunch about 6 people wokring behind the counter, not a single person greeted us. Got mu food spinach salad when to the register to pay female manager walked away, waited for about 3 minutes for someone to take my money, paid with credit card did not get a receipt! Third bite into my salad a huge dead moth was on my fork, called the manager came to the table told her I was done, I was sick to mu stomach, she did not even apologize just asked for my receipt to give me a refund, told her I did not have one! The food - once your whole table gets it - is pretty good. Awkward setup to order - if your smart don't change your mind about anything on your order or chaos will ensue. Also staff were all nice except for one unconcerned french fellow. Indifferent attitude. When asked why couldn't have my salad at the same time as my bf, he somewhat impossibly told me he had to let the kitchen know.... Even though the salad bar was his station directly in front of him. I went here a couple of times with my friends as well as with my french club when it was pretty new (I think around 2000-2002 can't really remember too well since it was so long ago). I don't recognize any of dishes from their online menu, but whenever I had ordered anything from when I had gone, the food was fantastic. I loved their cafe mochas and their frapps as well. It was always a treat whenever our french club would meet at la Medeline because their baked goods were THE best! It's a shame that I drove a distance to bring my grandson & granddaughter for a free chocolate tart as advertised just to be told they ran out. The General Manger name Ashley Dunacusky made an exception for two Caucasian ladies ahead of us and let them choose a pastry of their choice. I really felt discriminated because she clearly did not make an exception for us and we were next instead she charge us and said she was sorry but they sold out over 300 tarts. We ended up purchasing a chocolate tart with sprinkle almonds. Than to top it off she than put her sign in front of us that they were out of tarts. We were the only ones asking before closing so there could have been an exception for us. This has been one of my favorite restaurants only to be disappointed on the quality of service. read more

La Madeleine is a French cottage themed restaurant. When not working, the suburbanite visits La Madeleine to momentarily escape to France in their mind. Lots of terracotta tiles. Wood and natural stone. Is it veneer? I don't know. It looks nice though. Lots of displays with delicious looking cakes and tarts greet patrons. But once it's the end of the day, the desserts all look pretty wilted. The food tastes pretty good to me. I always get a rosemary chicken. Complimentary bread and jam. Prices are somewhat high though, and I doubt a lot of the food is even remotely French. I'd wager it's about as authentic as the France in Epcot is. Still, it's not bad. However, the prices are absolutely out of control for food that is generally mediocre and not nearly as authentic as all the branding and design would have you believe. $2 for a sugar cookie? A nice interior certainly has a way of distorting the quality of the food in the restaurant's favor. It certainly washed my brain a bit. But then I saw the prices and snapped out of it. 4/5 quality food drops it to 3/5 for outrageous prices. read more

I was actually disappointed. I heard so many great things about La Madeline, so I was itching to try it out. By the time I left, I was so mad that I spent the money that I did. I got the Paella that they were advertising, and that may have been my first mistake, because Paella is hard to get right. BUT, the chicken AND shrimp in it was totally over cooked, and the rice was shockingly dry with little flavor. I'm not sure how long my food sat there before they decided to run it, because it was luke warm at best. I ordered a lemon tart too, and I have to say, the crust was good, but the filling was really gritty, which totally turned me off. It also was very obviously made with a lemon juice from concentrate or something because there was no fresh flavor to be found. As for the ambiance of the place, it's whatever. The service, not much better. I just don't get the hype. read more

I don't know why everyone raves about this place. First I'm not a fan of cafeteria style ordering. It was totally unorganized when attempting to order. Tried to order the French Onion soup and told I had to order that somewhere else. Ordered the Croque Monsieur and was first told that sandwiches would be brought to the table but then since I ordered that sandwich with the Caesar salad they said they already had those pre-made-. While the sandwich might have been good had it been made fresh but the cheese although plentiful it wasn't 'melted all the way through. You could still see the shredded cheese they used was still in it's shredded form and not melted through. Got around to ordering the fabulous French onion soup that wasn't even warm and they put the bread and a very small amount of shredded cheese (even when I requested they load me up on the cheese), they didn't melt the cheese like I'm used to French Onion Soup which comes from the oven piping hot with cheese oozing over the sides of the bowl. He just threw a small amount and handed it to me.j The soup wasn't warm enough to melt the cheese. Also, ordered the Potato Galette and that too was pre-made and was not warm. Although the two best things were the Potato Galette and the Caesar Salad we ate. Not sure about the raves for the great bread, it was nothing to write or rave about. Add to all this...it is VERY PRICEY! Both my husband and I were very disappointed and will not be back! read more
