This place is tacos ONLY, not a Mexican restaurant. No gorditas, tortas, etc. so just know that ahead of time. I called and placed an order about 11pm Friday since nothing else was open. I asked for 6 fajita tacos with avacado and cheese. The first thing they told me was they dont have cheese! Ok fine, no big deal, I can put my own cheese. I go and pick them up and instead of putting avacado in, they give me a whole avacado. The price was decent enough, but the tacos were average at best. Theres a good chance that they may be some of the best in Conroe, but i've had way better. Dont think i'll be eating here again. read more

I have been on a taco kick lately, which is a little harder on my fitness regiment than when I was on a pho kick. This is now my favorite taqueria in the surrounding area. Man I don't know how I missed this place for so long! This place is awesome! I've tried the fajita, barbacoa, and pastor tacos so far. Won't get the barbacoa again, it was lame. Seemed bland and mushy... But the others were great! They have a great little salsa bar and cups so you can pack up a bunch of stuff to go. fantastic! the grilled onions are awwwesome. The people here have a great customer base and they treat us well. I came here once with my husband who'd had a bit too much to drink and managed to drop a taco onto my lap. The cashier gave me a wink, and handed me another taco. Good stuff! Great food and fast service. The tacos are a good size. They have a wide variety of salsas in a self serve area. My favorite thing of this place is the grilled onions. I had a 2 barbacoa tacos and a tried one chicharon taco. The barbacoa was good as I expected, but I wasn't a huge fan of the chicharon. Where I'm from the chicharon tacos are crispy and these were soggy. I wasn't a fan of the texture. Still a really good restaurant and super cheap! I have been going to La Palma since 1987 ! I have tried almost everything there once , but my favorite is the barbacoa. I wish they had more locations around the Conroe / Woodlands/Wilis area. I have never became ill from the tacos there, but I always get them to go. The booths just look unclean. This place started as a place for all the people leaving the mexican bars to go to have a bite. It used to stay open till 4 am. The owners and emplyees are friendly. This place used to have the greatest tacos in the area however over the years, with the hype increasing their food has decreased in quality. Today was my last day eating here, came here with friends. We ordered 12 tacos total, and sad to say all of were disappointed with our tacos. The shells on all of the tacos had either been over cooked or were stale resulting in tacos that were chewy. With the constant lack in quality, Unless things take a change for the better, La Palma has lost our business. read more

I have been diligent trying to find the best authentic tacos in Conroe over the last 18 or so months. Narrowed it down to La Palma and Taco Veloz. Been to La Palma 5 or so times, each hoping to get the quality food their Yelp reviews boast, but have yet to be impressed. Once they were good, but the other times the fajita and al pastor have been dry and unidentifiable. The lengua was good enough. Went to this place because it had excellent reviews. Okay the food is all right I had higher expectations. meat was dry and needed salt. What made me even more upset was the SERVICE. When they handed me the food it was not what I had ordered.. when I told the woman who was working the counter she was VERY rude and would not help me with the order. AGAIN, I went to the counter to take the food back and get the correct one. The tacos are always very good & filled to the brim with meat & your choice of toppings. Their meat selection is as good as any other taco place in Conroe & they only have corn tortillas, so if you prefer flour tortillas this isn't the place for you. Super yummy tacos and very reasonable prices. We went the other day and I could not eat all my breakfast tacos, so I shared with my hubby. We left stuffed with happy tummys. The salsa bar had green and red salsas, both spicy and delicious. Parking and seating are limited but it is worth a wait. They do take-out too. read more

Small, simple, and great food. You can't beat it. - Two tacos and a soda for about $5. - Speedy service - Friendly I recommend the fajita and pollo tacos. The pollo can be fiery sometimes. I think it depends who's cooking. Plenty of toppings to add on at the condiment bar, i.e. salsa, onions, jalepenos, cilantro, etc. I try to get in there at least once a week, though I could eat there every day :) This place is absolutely, 100% fantástico! I try not to judge a place by the outside or inside because I've been to many a dive but the food didn't make up for the fact that I felt like I was going to get stabbed on my way out. Place is gross and service is non-existent. The "salsa bar" had flies buzzing around them and spills eveywhere. Their barbacoa was super oily and without flavour; one would describe it as the consistency of wet napkins. If you insist on going to this run-down shack and you find yourself unsatisfied (which you will, TRUST ME on this one) and wanting some DELICIOUSO tacos then go to El Taco Veloz...just don't get shanked leaving Palma's parking lot on your way there. read more
