Best Italian place that I ever tried! Never a discounting experience. Give it a try and u won't regret it.

I came here for a Baptism celebration so all the items came out family style. I was able to try their homemade chips that comes with a spicy creamy dip and a more mild dip. I had their bruschetta and their fried calamari for appetizers. I then tried their Alfredo and vodka sauce pasta. For the main course, I only tried the salmon that came with a pesto sauce. I didn't try their chicken marsala, the eggplant parmesan or the string beans. However, I was told that it was all delicious. I mention all the food we ate because it was all extremely good! My top favorite was the bruschetta. The balsamic vinegar was amazing. I also enjoyed the vodka sauce and finally the salmon with the pesto was great. I was very full after this dinner. I can't comment on the prices. I do know the place is BYOB. I also know the service was really good. read more

THEY HAD ME AT THE STARTER BREAD! IM NOT KIDDING! I've been to this place a dozen times in my life and have always been satisfied. I would have written a review of this place sooner but I couldn't remember what town it was in. Seriously it took me a month to remember where this was. (Lol) They gave me garlic starter bread that is hands-down the best restaurant bread I have ever had. it is a cross between a garlic knot and old-fashioned garlic bread. I literally ate a whole basket once and cancelled a dinner order LOL ( NO JOKE) They have authentic wood fired pizza THAT IS AS GOOD AS ITS GETS! I had a meatball slice once that literally was covered in meatball and weight 3 pounds LOL. They have a lot of gourmet pizzas as well that are very good. I have never had a complaint about their pizza. Its Very good pizza, although a little pricey. I've been to the restaurant a few times over the years and enjoyed it. They make very good Spaghetti and meatballs. Meatballs were tender and came in a large portion. Spaghetti was cooked right but it didn't taste homemade. It tasted like high quality pasta from a box. The only major complaint I have was that the service can sometimes be slow and inattentive. There have been times when the waiter failed to check back and I have had to wait an excessive amount of time to get a check even with a near-empty restaurant. It's the only thing that prevents this place from being 5 stars: I would drive 90 minutes to eat here. It's that good! read more

For a consistently good italian restaurant without a wait (or a very short one, no real need to call in advance), this is the place. You can get slices and sit in a pizza booth if you want, but my family goes here for sit down BYOB. I get the fire-oven cooked thin crust pizza, but they have all the classic italian dishes. The prices are good, which is surprising for a BYOB which usually compensates for the lost revenue on alcohol. You can pick up wine and beer at the liquor street a block away. The service has always met my critical expectations. For awesome italian take-out try Phil's II on Rt. 526, which is about a 10 minute drive from allentown. That's the only real gustatory competition. Parking lot fills up but you can park in the church parking lot (say a prayer) or across the street in the municipal parking lot, which can prevent a stressful jam up. read more

If you like an owner- manager that could care less about your dining experience, terrible service, dry & bland food, a poorly trained wait staff, then this is your place. We arrived at 530PM & ordered at 550PM. No special requests- EVERYTHING straight off the menu. Over the course of the next hour, NOT ONCE did our very unprofessional waitress stop by to tell us why the delay. I finally got up to speak to the owner. His response- paraphrased- "sit down & shut up. It's Saturday night" . He could not have been more apathetic. He never apologized, and did not in any way attempt to make things right. Even the word sorry was more than he could bear. When the food came out, my "sushi grade ahi tuna" was cold & dried out, as was my sisters. $25 entree in Allentown NJ. What a rip off . My dad 's cavatelli. & broccoli was bland beyond recognition. My mon's chicken was dry. There's so many great family owned Italian restaurants in the area, why would anyone waste their precious time or their hard earned money at this dump. My suggestion- don't. read more

Love this place, the food is always great, more different types of Pizza than you can imagine! Head cook Jose is always coming up with great new dishes! Parking's a pain but you can park behind the church which is only a block away. Great place for groups, parties, take out, dinner, lunch. Count me in as a big fan! read more

I ordered lasagna. Thought it would be a staple in this restaurant. It was the most un-attractive lasagna, it was about three quarters of an inch in height. Topped with an excessive amount of some sort of watery sauce. On the dish it was a mess. All in all, a disaster. I would never go back there again. I have no idea why anyone would rate this place four or five stars. It is good but it is ordinary. But it is cheap so that's a plus. We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch, walked in the entrance from the parking lot which brings you to the pizzeria counter on the left and the trattoria seating on the right. Seating is four tops and booths. No linens, paper napkins. What I did not notice until we finished our meal and took a walk up the street is that the street entrance to this restaurant (vs the parking lot entrance) is into a white tablecloth establishment. Don't know if it impacts the menu or the pricing. Waitstaff was decent, not all that polished. Background music is Italian. Nice enough. Someone did a good job on the decor. The main dining area has a tall ceiling, maybe 20 ft. They took the "second floor" and added faux windows and faux balconies with french doors. My wife had the chicken Neapolitan style which came with fresh capers. Nice. The sauce was just a little gummy. I had the chicken special which came with sausage, bacon, peppers and onions in an Alfredo sauce. The sauce was just a bit wrong. They must use flour as a thickener but don't cook it thru. Both dishes were tasty despite the sauce. Three big pieces of chicken in each dish. We took half home. A couple of people were impressed with the bread. Not us. Seems like they bake their own rolls in the pizza oven. Acceptable but not special. Place is very busy with their take-out pizzas. Some of the other entrees may impress but I am in no rush to go back. OK if you are local. read more

While on a business project in the area, this place was recommended for delivery; I gave it a try and continued ordering from here regularly over the course of the 3-months. The food was always delivered quickly, hot, and of high quality; reasonably priced to boot. On the one occasion, I visited the dining room - I just had to see where this food had been produced - I & my companions were very pleased with all except the service. Perhaps an off-night for our waitress who left much to be desired. The food, on the other hand, was great - tasty, of great variety, & plentiful. read more

Imagine you've been trudging through a desert filled with kids, teenages and roller coasters. You are nearly about to faint as the Sysco-provided food-matter you ate earlier is clearly not providing the nutrients that any composite chicken breast material should. What's that? La Piazza has been a stable in my life since I was probably about 12. Classic Italian dishes and pizza you can't beat. I make sure to stop in for dinner or lunch every time I'm back in New Jersey. The best part is you can BOYB and for the amount of food they give you, it really is affordable. My personal favorites are the chicken piccata and the meatlovers pizza. Overhyped, overpriced. Typical place everyone in central jersey raves about being the "it" Italian place... but to me it was just disappointing. Nothing was bad tasting..... Just nothing special about it at all and honestly kind of bland. Bread for the table was very plain, butter was packets and cold. Shame on the side salads for the entrees.... One grape tomato per salad. One slice of cucumber... And it looked like it had been pre-sliced a whole ago and either frozen or refrigerated because it was weirdly soggy and translucent around the edges. Entrees were just meh.... This place is always good, whether you're picking up pizza or just dining with your family. I love their Brooklyn pie, it's a sicilian pizza but is a little bit thinner. Fresh tomato sauce, tangy and slightly sweet and fresh mozzarella makes this crispy and delicious! An absolute favorite! Their calamari is really good, and I mean pretty damn tasty. They sometimes offer Bruschetta Calamrti or Buffalo Calamari on their Specials, and I highly recommend order them. This place has the best Pasta Fagioli soup, along with Maninnos on Route 33 (their brothers). Fresh, thick and delicious and flavorful. I don't think i've had a bad meal here yet. I rarely write reviews but kudos needs to be given when they are truly deserved! My husband and I recently had our sons Baptism party at La Piazza in February 2013 and we could not have chosen a better place! Besides the fact that the restaurant is beautiful, my guests were raving about how great the FOOD was. The Mozzarella en corza and Rice Balls were to die for!!!! The staff was extremely professional, helpful and polite. I appreciates all of Jerry's (the owner/cook) advice on menu options. He personally helped setup the room to make sure everything was perfect. We appreciate everything they did to make sure our Son's baptism was what we wanted. Overall we were extremely pleased and would recommend La Piazza for a good meal or a hall to host a party. From one happy mom and dad!! read more

This is a good place. We sat in the dining room with good solid service. It was lunch time during the week so i got to observe the busy take-out activity and the service was good. The people paid attention to what was ordered and many of the customers were known to the workers. We had pasta lunch specials which were fine (mine was francesca which turned out to be meat, mushrooms with a vodka type of sauce and rigatoni. It was very nice portion for a cold March day. One of the best Italian places I have eaten. The food is always good and the staff always friendly. From the pizza to the sit down meals I have never had a bad one, if you like pizza they have a number of different ones beyond the traditional. I love the cheese steak or buffalo chicken pies, deep dish or normal they are all good, except I do not like the Broklyn pie, not my style. And yes they serve pizza dough rolls and oil with spices with dinners, but I always ask for sauce for dipping. Good food, great place to eat. At busy times parking is a real challange. read more

We stopped here on our way back to Long Island, it was one of those finds where you pull off of an exit and there is only one restaurant to eat at - you are starving so you could give to craps whether the food was good or not. Luckily, the food at La Piazza happened to be pretty decent. All of the meals came with a soup or salad ( I tried both the soup and salad since we were with 8 people who luckily share!) The salad and soups were great. Next I had the stuffed shells, they were really good, my only complaint (and also a complaint from a few other diners) was that the sauce was too sweet. For dessert I tried the tiramisu, it was really good, and the other deserts looked great too. Their whole menu is reasonably priced, the selection is good, and you get a huge portion of food! THank god we pulled over at exit 7a , 195N towards allentown or else I may have been eating in a dump ;) La Piazza, I will probably never visit you again, but you were pretty decent. read more

Pretty good! We had no wait for a table, but were admittedly there at an odd hour and there were very few tables full. Our waitress was completely wonderful - professional, friendly, personable... just about perfect. The rolls they brought us as starter bread disappointed my boyfriend, who was looking forward to garlic knots. It was hot, yummy bread though! Our waitress took pity on him and brought us each a complimentary knot... they were pretty damn good. Fabulous touch too! We split a wood-grilled pizza for lunch that had artichokes, black olives, prosciutto, fresh basil, and fresh mozzarella. It was delicious. The sauce was sweet and clearly contained fresh tomatoes without being overtaken by dried herbs (i'm not an oregano fan). The crust was thin but probably thick enough not to qualify as thin crust. Now if you're like me, you always leave the crust of the pizza on the plate, feed it to your dog, or slip it to someone at your table. I actually ate my crust here it was so good! The toppings were all fresh, especially the basil which felt as though it had been picked off a plant in a garden out back, just for us. If you're in the area and looking for a family-friendly, casual place to eat, this place is completely worth checking out. read more

I stopped in to this little restaurant by chance on the way home from New York to Maryland. It was raining and I needed to rest with something to eat. The exit sign suggested this place. I was a little leary because you end up driving a bit of a ways off the exit but it was so worth it. Parking is very limited but you can park across the street a little to the right where there is parking for "Allentown business's". There is a sign. The people were so welcoming and the place was nice inside. You could tell that families came to this place for celebrations. I opened the menu and to my surprise this little town had a hidden gem of a gourmet Italian restaurant. I selected Rigatoni with Arrabbiata sauce. (It's like a Vodka sauce with a little spice.) It's on the menu as a "create your own" selection. The salad that came with it was better than your usual cheap iceberg salad that most places serve. I was served delicious bread with seasoning which I added olive oil to. I wish I had purchased a bottle of the seasoning to take home. I think I saw it for sale by the pizza to go area. The bathrooms were clean which is a plus for a traveler. That tells me right away how clean a place is. At the end of my meal the best service was yet to come. It had become dark outside and since I was traveling alone I asked a huge favor of the staff. I asked if they wouldn't mind if someone would walk me to my car across the street at the business parking lot. The girls at the register didn't hesitate to understand and find someone. I couldn't have been more grateful. The gentleman was so kind and I'm ever so grateful, especially because it was still raining a bit. We split several of their wood fire oven pizzas and I have not one complaint - it was outstanding! Love the crust (and I'm so picky about pizza crust it's downright ridiculous). LaPiazza has fabulous food and pizza. We have been eating there for many years. I especially like the Castillo Salad and their Mushroom pizza. We also like the choice of an area where we can enjoy casual eating or decide to relax in the dining room. This place is really, really good. I went with some friends from work, and figured whatever, I'll have a salad. But I saw linguine with clam sauce on the menu and decided to try it. I had to ask a friend to move the plate away from me so that I wouldn't eat the whole thing; it was delicious!! It's one of those dishes that is so simple but most restaurants screw it up. Not this one; it was perfect. Two others had different pastas and also raved about them. I'd like to say I will go back often but unfortunately I live an hour away.
