It was interesting walking into a pizza joint - my man 6'7 and myself 6'0 in heels making me 6'3; in New York... it turned some heads. We were immediately seated and a wonderfully friendly waitress with a thick accent stopped by to take our order. We asked her what the most ordered pizza was and she told us 5 different ones... Yikes fish out of water... I fumbled. So which is YOUR favorite; she named 3.. Okay getting to the short list. Obviously there was a lot to try at this spot! We got the Quad; it was great. Yum! I came here for lunch over the weekend with my companion because I was craving pasta. We were seated promptly in a booth seat (love booths) and were given menus, water, and bread. The bread was really good. They give you three kinds: fluffy ciabatta, regular italian, and these sesame poppyseed crackers. The ciabatta was so pillowy, soft, chewy, and perfect. The italian bread had a crisp exterior and fluffy interior. And the crackers were perfectly crunchy and I enjoyed the poppyseeds. To start, we ordered some garlic bread with mozzarella, which was so good and the portion was really generous. I actually only ate one piece before realizing I might be too full for my entree. For our main meal, my companion ordered the fettuccine alfredo. The noodles were soft (I speculated that they might be freshly made pasta noodles) and the sauce was buttery and cheesy and really good but not too heavy. I ordered the penne paesana, which had shrimp, broccoli rabe, pignoli nuts, and garlic slices with a bit of tomato. It was really good and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente (which I love). This would be a good place to have a casual date. The staff is friendly and attentive and I definitely enjoyed myself here. They also have a takeout area with pizzas and calzones. read more

Pick up was a bit challenging, but our food was brought out to our car in a fairly timely manner. One little problem was that one of our meals was wrong. However, what was mistakenly put in our bag was actually quite delicious! I did, however, contact Mary S. to inform her that we received a meal that wasn't what we ordered and she immediately asked for our address and the correct meal was quickly delivered to our home at no extra charge. Very disappointed with my last visit to La piazza in Plainview. We've always loved the food there, but has anyone ever heard of a restaurant doing this before....charging more for food to sit down rather than take it out? My family ordered a plain pie with half Buffalo chicken. We were charged $32.95!! I know prices are going up but come on. When I asked the man at the counter what a regular pie with half Buffalo chicken would cost he told me $28. When I asked him why the price difference he said it was because we ate the pizza there. Best place in town to pick up a slice of pizza. I'm a simple man so I usually go with a plain sicilian or a pepperoni slice and I'm happy. I have to say though, I'm not a big fan of buffalo sauce, but theres something special about the buffalo chicken slice. It's not too saucy and isn't too intense. It's a pretty solid and unique tasting slice of pizza. The restaurant in the back also has a good selection of authentic Italian food. I came here recently on a Thursday night with a friend for a casual dinner. We were seated about ten mins after arriving, which is fine. Upon sitting, the waitress came over and told us she would be back soon and "kill both of you at the same time" (our table and the table next to us) which was a little odd. We got drinks and noticed we were the only table that didn't get bread, but opted not to say anything. The waitress came back, took our orders, and food was out fairly quickly. Now, I have to say, the food was excellent. We had the fried calamari, eggplant rollatini, and shrimp salad, all to share. The salad was especially delicious, and I'm not a big salad person but I found this salad very satisfying. The eggplant was also delicious, perfect ratio of sauce, cheese, and eggplant. The calamari was also good, but def could have been a bit more crunchy. We really had no complaints about the food at all, it was more the waitress. She was just odd. From her first comment, to coming over to our table to ask how everything was while chewing a mouth full of food, to making us feel rushed at 820 when the place closes at 10. I really can't understand La Piazza. It's possible I just had a bad experience. I ordered an 18" pie with veggies. Unfortunately the pie was totally soggy. All topping ingredients didn't taste fresh, which could be a matter of personal preference, not for me. The sauce and cheese lacked in flavor, I can only describe it as bland. I'm not sure why, could it be the sauce? The cheese? The fact that all the toppings were wet when put on the pizza (the brine was dripping off as we ate it)? I really don't know. My company always orders from here. I don't know why. They can do it though, because they are perpetually packed. I don't mind though, because I never pay. They almost opened a third location but that was abandoned. Sometimes with the amount of business they do, I worry they will get a little too commercial. Makes me concerned about their integrity and accountability. When we were going to Long Island, I asked Yelpers in NY where to get some good Italian food on Long Island. Most of them (NYCers) just laughed at me. And maybe they're right. But compared to the Italian culture where I live in California, Long Island is crawling with it. We pulled up and I was thinking "Seriously ... in a shopping center ... looks like you order at the counter ... can I get some real food around here?" But my first impression was wrong. Yes, there is an area where you can order pizza slices to go from the counter -- hard to find in the Bay Area suburbs -- but the rest of the place is a regular restaurant. And, by the way, it was packed on a Thursday night. We got seated right away but there was a steady stream of people on both sides of the place. Got the chianti. All the wines were reasonably priced. I ordered the penne caprese and it was pretty good. My fiance got some sort of shrimp entree that the server recommended and he loved it. The bread served on the table was good too. We came back one other time on our visit for a slice of pizza that was pretty darn good too. Anyway, it wasn't exactly old country Tony Soprano territory (yes, I know he was from Jersey, thanks) but it was good. Last Sunday husband wanted to watch football and I didn't feel well so I said let's get a pizza delivered. I called to order a large plain Neapolitan Pie and a Eggplant Parm Hero. The guy who answered said they weren't delivering they had no drivers, so I hung up. Husband says callback and order, he'll go get it (it was 3 degrees wind chill and husband uses a cane (bad knee). Anyway I call back the person takes the order and doesn't repeat back the 2 items. Hubs comes back with this tiny box and a bag with the Hero. They gave him an ice cold tiny brick oven pizza that must have sat there while they made the hero (the cheese was crusty and thin as a cracker. PLUS hubs says they were running around like crazy with deliveries. Why did that guy lie to me?? When I called back to complain, the girl says the deliveries are taking awhile, well that's different then no delivery, right? I wasn't in a big rush, I wouldn't mind an hour wait, just be honest. So she asked if I wanted a large pizza delivered, I said yes, because that tiny cracker pie I was never going to eat. They charged me the $6 difference and the delivery came quick. I wanted to give back the tiny pizza but the delivery guy wouldn't take it. I don't think they should have charged me for not so much the mistake (that can happen) it was the LIE about the delivery. Went with a large group from out of state who wanted to experience real NY pizza. While the pizza looked very good, it is not what I would classify as a true example of traditional NY pizza. All of the pastas were extremely average. I was told the meatballs were not so good. The Bolognese was just okay. We called ahead to see if they offered gluten free pasta as one of our members has GF issues. We were told "no, but we have GF pizza shells." The truth is they DO offer GF pasta as well. The desserts were wonderful. They serve Juniors cheesecake which is second to none. Separate checks were accomplished, but caused the management a lot of angst. We went to La Piazza for dinner the other day before roller derby (I seriously may have had the best weekend of my life) and as we're waiting to be seated a girl comes up to me and says "Oh hey! How are you? I haven't seen you in like, a week!" ::laughs and walks away:: Everyone in my crew looked at me in disbelief. "you have friends OTHER than us?" Yes, jerks. This place was fun - it wasn't expensive, the wait staff (INCLUDING my mystery friend) was very nice - our waiter was the ish, he even hooked us up with biscotti after dinner and gave my JRO a meatball. My salad was great - I got the pecan salad with shrimp and the house salad looked delicious. In fact, the mushrooms in it WERE delicious. No one else at my table knows that cause I walked around sticking my fingers in all their meals, swipin them. That Good. My group can be a little loud, at times. They thought we were charming. They dont take resos, though, so if you have a group you may have to wait in the front - not a ton of room but they walk around with garlic knots and snacks and stuff, so if you're cheap you can use that as your app. Unless they catch on and yell at you - in that case, I didn't tell ya to do it. This is my go to pizza last fifteen years esp since my friend also owned a store in the same shopping complex. However today's experience has left me very disappointed. I've dealt with loui plenty of times as well as Tony the manager there who's awesome. Today I had the esteemed pleasure of dealing with Shane. Please fire him. When I asked him for a new slice of pizza because the existing pie looked like a mouse bit off the ends he said he didn't have any. I said I'd wait then he pulled out a pie from the bottom cut me a small slice and proceeded to sell it to me. Great place, right in my backyard. What surprises me though is that people apparently travel far and wide to dine here (it's great don't get me wrong, but not the best place you'll ever eat). The food is very fresh and always flavorful. I have never had a bad meal at La Piazza. A little on the expensive side but for good Italian food that can't be beat, it's worth it. When I come back home to NY for a visit, I come to this shopping center (and brave the war zone they call a parking lot) and between La Piazza and Town Bagel, I shovel my face full of carby carbs topped with some form of cheese. Extremely disappointed with La piazza. While the food is always tasty and reliable, the customer service is beyond awful. My children are currently quarantining so we need to bring food in tonight. My wife and I order a baked ziti and salad to share. When we open the baked ziti it look like a side order that they charge $14.25 for. We had ask for extra cheese for a salad to which they charged 1.25, I normally would not have a problem with this, but when the extra cheese was in a teaspoon cup that was not acceptable. I called the restaurant to express my concerns to be only told everything is already portioned out and the manger hung up the phone. I really wish this establishment would have better customer service because the food is always good. My wife and I are currently still hungry after what should have been more than enough. read more

I grew up right near here and thought it was a great spot, and upon returning after 10 years its still is. Great pizza, good chicken dishes and good pasta. Their chicken rolls and garlic knots are also pretty good. The last time I was there I got the Chicken Francese with a side of pasta with meat sauce and it was very good. Also a lot of times I will get the Penne E Gamberi and sub the shrimp out for chicken and it is great. It has a perfect light garlic sauce with a few veggies and is one of my favorites. A great spot for pizza and chicken rolls for lunch, or for a nice dinner as well. I do recommend take-out over eating in the restaurant as the place is nothing special and usually gets pretty packed due to its popularity. read more

HOLD THE SIDE SALAD, PLEASE!!!! As a longtime Plainview/Old Bethpage resident, I've eaten at LaPiazza more times than I can count or remember. I only hope I can forget this time soon! While the pasta, pizza and main courses never disappoint, the side salad and general manager, Tony, need updating and/or replacement. The side salad comes with a dressing that contains so much artificial thickeners in it that you can stand a spoon up in it. Ugh!!!! Tony claims unconvincingly that the dressing is "homemade." Seriously, oil and vinegar don't defy gravity and aren't gelatinous and full of sugar in my home. What in God's name is in that salad dressing?!? Yuck!!!! After complaining about the salad, he had the great idea to send me back the same slimy iceberg lettuce (what respectable resturant even serves iceberg lettuce anymore?) and claim the slime was not really leftover dressing or rotten produce, but the "juice from two very tiny cherry tomatoes." The juice from tomatoes is pink water, not yellow oil in my home. If Tony can't get a simple side salad right or satisfy a loyal customer, I can only wonder what damage he will do to the restaurant's reputation given enough time and responsibility.
