Came here for a special pre- show dinner with my family. We were so excited to try the food as we heard rave reviews. Ordered penne ala vodka ($16.50), a side spaghetti with alfredo sauce ($8) , a cheese calzone ($7.25) and two cokes which were $5 each and a $4 slice of mediocre pizza. I expected the pasta to come with a salad due to the price but it didn't. The portions were tiny (and we aren't huge people at all), food was mediocre at best and we walked away still hungry. La Piazza is, I don't know, not so good but I feel as if this is the story of the Emperor's New Clothes. The parking lot is always full, people are giving the place good reviews and yet when I have eaten here 3 different times, the food is not good. The rice balls were crunchy due to very undercooked rice, the pizza is soggy, the sauce is salty and the meatballs tasteless rubber. I have never had a good meal here, am I the only one that knows the Emperor is naked? The ambiance is nicely done and the staff cordial enough except when calling in an order, it is difficult and you are not met with the nicest reception. I can not recommend this restaurant but feel I am missing something. Perhaps a patron needs to be related to the owner or someone from La Piazza to have a good meal? It's a quandary. Had lunch with 3 of my children and everyone was happy! I had the pecan salad with mixed greens and Gorgonzola cheese. It was delicious. One of my sons ordered the penne aka vodka and he's my fussy son. He enjoyed it. The other son ordered chicken rooting which had spinach and mozzarella inside with a side of pasta. He enjoyed it. My daughter ordered the Tuscan salad and loved it! Service was good and we were all happy! read more

We were a party of 4 on a recent Sunday evening with a reservation. While we were seated rather promptly, our waiter did not take our order until 25 minutes later, and we did not get our meals served until another 45 minutes after that. We were told that the kitchen was backed-up due to a large number of take-out orders. Despite the fact that our meals were good (we were very hungry at that point), we will avoid returning to this place. No meal is worth that very long wait. read more

Sooo I've eaten from this place several times but tonight really makes me wanna write a review. I really hate the staff there. The guys at the counter act like they've never seen girls before and their arrogance is through the roof! For those reasons I rarely go there. I called to place a "take out" order and the woman who answers the phone proceeded to take my order to only half way through tell me they don't take phone orders for "slices". And that I have to come in to order. last time I checked "take out" meant you can do either or. Call to order or go in. That's the first I've heard of that in any pizza place. There was another incident when my boyfriend and I went in to order and he wanted an Italian Hero. They acted like they didn't know what that was and was he referring to a loaf of bread. Ummm really? My friend ordered a ton of La Piazza for the Ranger game the other night. This was like to 50th time I have had La P in my life and I feel that they are a strong 4 (always consistent). Here are some of the things that I tried that night and my reviews of them. I had some of a calzone. It was crazy good. I had a half of a buffalo chicken roll and that was way better then I expected. I'm not a big blue cheese fan but I feel like they had the perfect amount mixed in. I would definitely order that again. I also had a piece of chicken parm and this was good (nothing too special). I also had a half a rice ball and that was tasty as well. I had the leftover fried clalamaries that were floating around and they were good (not hot a crispy as they were sitting but still good). I also had pasta in pink sauce which was solid. My friend also ordered a shrimp parm hero (heard it was the bomb), eggplant rolitini (didn't hear feedback by my dad loves their eggplant parm), and a grilled chicken hero (looked good). Altogether I enjoyed the food. La Piazza is a 4 star place because it is always consistent and good. read more

Came here for dinner last night with a large group of friends. The restaurant accommodated all of us quite nicely and we were mostly all satisfied with our courses. My only complaint is that they didn't have ranch dressing at all, and offered my friend caesar in place of blue cheese for her buffalo chicken salad lol. But otherwise it was very nice and the service was decent. I could tell the staff wanted us to get out as we were there for about 2 1/2 hours but they didn't verbalize it and we weren't there past closing and tipped well! Thanks for hosting! read more

Food is ok.. Service has always been iffy... Anyway, we went here tonight, was told a 20 min wait. As we sat there waiting for our seat, Someone who knew the hostess walks up and cuts the entire wait. We literally heard the hostess tell them that there were 5 people waiting, but it was ok and she would seat them first. This is rediculous when I'm sitting there with a 1 year old and a 8 month pregnant wife waiting in line! Needless to say, we left. I have no tolerance for shady business practices! Awful. The service and hospitality is awful. The food is mediocre at best and way over priced. They pizza is good, but the portions have gotten so tiny. 1 regular slice is almost like a 1/2 a slice at any other pizza place. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service. I made a phone order for pick up and was told 20 minutes, I arrived after 20 minutes and my food still wasn't ready. I had to wait an additional 35 minutes for my food to finally be ready and when I confronted them about this they didn't seem to care at all unwilling to help, then after all this time waiting for them to prepare my food you would think it would be hot and fresh which it wasn't at all. It was cold and soggy. Extremely disappointed. Will never be ordering from this location again. They need to train at the Merrick location. That location is on point. I order from this place quite often. Only because there are no pizzerias In the area that offer smaller rustic 12" size pizzas. Food is very mediocre and way overpriced. Most people get their first impression of a restaurant by judging the bread.. The bread they serve is cheap and a poor excuse. My order gets screwed up 7 out of 10 times. The place is built like the Taj Mahal and their computer system looks top notch...so why..... why every single time I call I have to waste 3 minutes telling the girl my name and phone number? Not to mention another 3 Minutes repeating the exact same order I place 2x a week...shouldn't you know this information? This computer technology to do so existed in 2001 when I ordered Italian from my old neighborhood .. as for the positive, the staff is very nice and so are the managers. Orders are executed extremely fast. While I hate to make these comments, they are honest. I have heard that there are new owners there...so this is not their fault...they just inherited this place and it's flaws. I just hope they are smart enough to slowly fix them. read more

Working at an Italian restaurant myself, my mother had quite a terrible experience with the manager on duty yesterday. Based on what my family went through on their ANNIVERSARY day, I feel this should be shared. Below is the exact google review, feel free to look it up there as well: This would have been a 5 star however the manager ruined my experience. Beware of scam. I used to come here years ago. My family and I decided on lunch for my anniversary. The waitress was a delight and very sweet. After having a delicious meal I was presented an incorrect bill. Lunch is until 4pm. We came in way before and finished our meal by 415pm. They charged me the dinner prices claiming to have provided me dinner portions. I explained I came for lunch therefor should have been charge lunch prices. I was told by the manager it is the guest's responsibility to let the waitress know whether you wish lunch or dinner portions at lunch time. Is it fair to say you can order lunch portions at dinner and you will be charged the lunch costs. Oh no...that is not the case. They assumed I wanted dinner portions and over charged me a full $8 more per plate!! This is not a normal practice in restaurants and should be disclosed in the beginning. The manager was rude. I will think twice before returning due to this obnoxious manager. I tried to explain that I'm a manager in the guest services field and this practice is unethical. He stated he don't care and it's not important. So In the end... the food was great but make sure they don't overcharged you because they made an assumption. read more

In these trying times of living with the Covid-19 virus pandemic I wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful restaurant La Piazza is and what a wonderful manager (Anthony) is. Unfortunately my Mom is on a ventilator in Plainview Hospital suffering from the virus for over a week now and the ICU staff has been amazing giving our family daily updates with patience since we can not be there with her. (quarantined) We wanted to do something nice for these "front line" healthcare workers and decided to send them dinner from one of our favorite restaurants. When I called La Piazza, Anthony first had some kind words for my Mom and then helped me work out a great catered menu for about 20 ICU staff at the hospital. He made suggestions, stopped me from ordering too much (my inclination - always) and suggested food that would be good for people I really don't know but covered all the bases. Anthony then gave me a discount because he wanted to show his appreciation as well. He didn't have to do that - but he wanted to and he did. The staff at the hospital LOVED THE FOOD and were so appreciative so I wanted to thank Anthony and the restaurant for helping us make these selfless people's day a little better. This is a local restaurant and we all need to help them out by ordering from them to keep them going. These are the type of people who are willing to help us and I want people to remember how great these folks are when they get hungry and are trying to decide what to eat. Buffalo Chicken slice is a must-have. The Pecan salad is amazing with their balsamic dressing. Most of their food is delicious but IMO way over-priced for most items on the menu like for example, the Chicken Francese... I can order a Chicken Francese from Mario's Pizza down the block and only pay $13/$14 and still be just as delicious. $22 for an order of chicken in lemon butter white wine sauce is absolute robbery, among the rest of the over-priced entrees. Staff is nice but only a handful... Some can be rude, especially over the phone when placing orders. read more

Food is really good actually. However, I have ordered from them twice now and it was for delivery. The delivery was late by a half hour. I ordered these lunches for business purposes. Their delivery is NOT reliable. The crazy things was I called 2 hours ahead of time and the delivery was literally a cross the street. They tried to tell me that there may have been trafic or an accident. I even told them this was impossible because it was across the street. They seemed to not really own the mess up. Ordered lunch for myself and 2 coworkers, we got the food and everything was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised, even though it was a little pricey. Then I check my bank account and realize they charged me for the full order, when I specifically told the girl who took the order to charge my card only for my order and the rest would be paid in cash. This place charged me for the full order anyway in addition to us giving the delivery guy $30 in cash to make up for my coworkers orders...I called to speak to the manager and find out why I was charged the full amount when I specifically said only charge the card for MY order...manager was Rude and unprofessional and said there was nothing he could do to help. So they ended up making an extra $40 off me. Needless to say I will never order again from these unprofessional thieves. read more

This is anything but refined Italian cuisine. It's no Danny Meyer or Scott Conant, but growing up in Jersey with an Italian uncle, this hits as close to home as it can get! I love LOVE LOVE their whole wheat Margherita pie. If you love the flavor of basil but don't want to feel like a giraffe eating leaves, it has MAJOR basil flavor. The tomato sauce is AWESOME. I like the whole wheat crust because it's crunchy. The regular crust is also very good but a bit doughier and chewier than the whole wheat crust. It's super super thin crust - just amazing. So amazing, I crave it every week. Calamari Arrabbiata - I order it every time. It's sooooooo goood! Basically, you can't go wrong with anything that is tomato sauce based here. They make a good tomato sauce. The calamari is tender. I don't feel like I'm swallowing a whole chunk of squid down cause I can't chew it all the way down. I like to unscrew the crushed red peppers and add more kick to this app. Linguini Di Mare (white) This is always consistent and balances off all the tomato saucy items I get off the menu. The pasta doesn't taste like it's been freshly cooked (it always tastes like it's been pre made) but overall, the flavors are very good. Rigatoni Florentini - like I said, anything that has a tomato sauce base here it awesome. The chicken is very tender - topped with mozzarella, it perfection. When I crave this place, it's usually a pizza and calamari bubble in my head that makes me come back for more. The service is also very snooty here. It's basically, throw down your order and run off before you can speak. I feel like the girls here roll their eyes if you ask them questions. They dont pay attention to your orders, or listen when you ask for more beverages and the service has gone down hill. There only salvation are the friendly guys at the front serving pizza. They always are helpful and courteous. I dont know what the women servers in the back are doing but they are all horrendous. They eat and hang out without catering to the customer. A really cute place to bring family for a good Italian dinner! I came for takeout, but the place was PACKED and for good reason. The Crispino pizza we got was good--thin crust that was crispy but still chewy. We also got a vegan veggie pizza which I thought was one of the best out there that I've tried (I've seen a good share, my roomies were both vegan!) They loaded the pizza with fresh veggies: spinach, broccoli, onions, peppers, mushrooms, the works! I'd definitely be okay with coming back and eating at the sit-down portion. i was out here on business first thing i noticed was how friendly the people were. we were on pacific time, so strolled in there around 10 pm one of the only people in there as they were cleaning up. they still served us some great pizza and pasta. the bread that came up was still warm and toasty, and everyone was STILL friendly and didn't rush us out. we really had no idea what was good to eat out there, and saw they had good ratings on yelp. so thanks la piazza for feeding us business guys on a tuesday night! read more
