I grew up in Plainview and whenever we needed to get a pie we'd go to La Piazza. Definitely the best place to go for pizza on Long Island. I haven't been there in a while as I moved to Florida 7 years ago but whenever I visit I try to eat there once. Above the Norm....This place started a chain and its becoming a hot spot for the masses. PACKED during weekday lunches. I have had a few diff things here. Meatball hero was very good. Very upset ,had a gift certificate and wanted to use at the Melville location. I was told that I couldn't use it at this location . I'm lost according to ny state all three restaurants are owned by the same owner. Called the Plainview location spoke with a manager he stated it was owned by the same owner . The food was good the service was very slow . They didn't except the gift card that I purchased 6 months ago . Just read another review and another patron had the same experience . I will never go back to la piazza for just this reason. I don't Like the con, they apparently don't care ,the manager doesn't care , so why should I care if they lose customers . This place is normally packed on a Wednesday night so I have only been here a few times as I would rather not wait and then get sardined in and get served by a harried wait staff. Last night being a Holiday was a perfect time to experience La Piazza. We were seated immediately at a table more than adequate for the 4 of us, bread, water, drinks all served in short order. The server had time to answer questions and we had time to lesiurely choose our meal. Even though portions were large we all cleaned our plates the food was very good. I had rigatoni with sausage and mushrooms good enough for a repeat my next time back there next Holiday. read more

Good pizza and other dishes, however, the place is usually always very crowded and there is usually a wait, even for a slice of pizza. Nice atmosphere in the dining room. But one night I went in to pick up a grandma slice, which I didn't get a look at before it went into the box, and went home to discover a regular slice with red dried up sauce spread on top of it, what was that. It didn't even resemble a grandma slice! There wasn't even any cheese on top, they must not have had any left that late at night and attempted to make one up, it wasn't even on a square piece of pizza, it was so disgusting! Simply the best pizza. The crispino pie is literally to die for. I've been eating at la piazza since the day they opened in the early 90s. I used to drive OUT from NYC for their pizza! From Spring of 2013 through Summer of 2014 I thought I had my pizza place as evidenced that I racked up $1500 of reward points. Service was always weak at best but food was great. That all changed last summer,not only did service get worse but food started going down hill quickly. I am a pizza guru and this place on good day now has a good slice but most of the days are not so good and slices are average at best. Frequently I walk in look at the pies and walk out.The buffalo pizza has remains solid and extremely good. The dishes are inconsistent and frequently not prepared as requested . ( I stopped ordering those.) It's basically pizza when in a pinch or a hero/panini which have also gone backwards. The poor service and attitude of the manager was tolerated when the food was exceptional but now that the food is not so good, I say find other alternatives for your pizza and Italian food. For the record most of my dining is pick up so I speak of counter service. read more

Dined here this past Friday night, which was my second time here. Place is always crowded and seems to be very popular. Didn't love my meal first time around but I assumed might've been what I had ordered. Our waitress was very friendly very accommodating but unfortunately the kitchen didn't live up to her service. We ordered an eggplant Parmesan and a linguine la mer in a spicy fra diavlo sauce. Starter salads were excellent but that's where the meal went bad. Our entrées arrived and while mine looked right my wife's eggplant Parmesan turned out to be a baked ziti. At first she didn't realize it was a big ziti because it look like it might've been eggplant parm. My meal definitely look right but my first spoonful of the sauce was anything but A fra diavlo. I Started eating my meal when I noticed that the muSsels in the meal were very sandy and gritty. The shrimp was a little too chewy like it have been severely overcooked. Shortly after the waitress arrived and told us that we had the wrong meals. Apparently our meals were for another table. When are correct meals arrived my dish tasted like it had been rushed and some of the clams and mussels were undercooked. The sauce was quite tasteless. My wife's eggplant Parmesan was mediocre at best. With the exception of the server who is very nice and trying to be accommodating the meal was a disaster. We won't be back read more

As I write this review, I'm currently sitting in my office eating leftover chicken parmigiana with spaghetti bolognese from last night's meal. This place is fantastic. It's incredibly - and consistently - delicious. Some of the best chicken parm I've had and I'm a really REALLY harsh judge of Italian food, especially outside of Manhattan (and Italy, but I've lowered the bar a bit to be fair). The pasta is a bit generic but the chicken and the sauces are really delicious as are the salads. They have cheap and kind of gross wine by the glass so if you're any kind of afficionado don't bother with the wine list. I've also had the pizza and that is truly delicious as well. The place is always packed and you generally have to wait for a table for dinner. I've had dinner multiple times and it's definitely worth all the hassle because the food is really damn good. read more

I came here while visiting some friends about a year ago. It was VERY busy, but it was a Saturday night so I wasn't too surprised. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated-not too long for a busy Saturday night. the menu was pretty typical for an Italian restaurant, so I decided to go with a standard and order a simple spaghetti with tomato sauce and sausage. My friend ordered a pizza with arugula and prosciutto. The spaghetti was amazing. I have to say, i was surprised because I knew there was more than one on Long Island and I had never had good experiences with chain restaurants-they tend to get careless, especially when it's busy. But I was pleasantly surprised. I tried my friend's pizza, and that was also tasty. Usually I find prosciutto to be way too salty for me, but i thought it had well-balanced flavor. And the prices were not too bad for an Italian restaurant. However, parking was a nightmare-WAY too small for a place this popular! And even finding parking on the street was difficult. I can't expect too much I suppose considering it was right off the busy highway and there wasn't much of an option for parking lots. But I had no problems with the food, and the service was very good! read more

I've had the pizza here a few times and it's always great, nice and crispy with stretchy cheese. I opted for their pasta special the last time. It was a cream sauce with big chunks of lobster and artichoke. It was awesome! My boyfriend had the chicken special which was pretty good. When you step in it's a little hectic because there's no real flow of where to go. After figuring out where to order and pay, my friend and I ordered to-go personal pizzas (each getting the plain margherita pizza). The guy at the register may have been tired but he looked as if he was annoyed with us. Maybe that's just me but it was very hustle and bustle "what-do-you-want" kinda of attitude. After ordering we sat on the bar stools to wait. There are two HUGE ovens in front of the counter and a big brick over on the left. I was a little worried because the guys behind the counter were moving so quickly I thought they would hit each other and get hurt but luckily no injuries while we were there. The pizza itself was good. There was a nice little char on the bottom and the crust was nice and crunchy. The middle was a little soggy and not as crispy as the edges which tends to happen, but the cheese was delicious. LaPiazza is a favorite Italian Restaurant in Plainview. Their food is very good.My only criticism is their portions. Tonite I ordered bake ziti parmigiana for $12 and while the take out plate is over an inch deep, there was only one layer of baked ziti. Now the last time I looked, ziti pasta isn't that expensive. Downloaded the menu, called in my order, 20 minutes later I was stuffing my face back at my hotel. I ordered: Neapolitan, Sicilian, Grandma, Buffalo Chicken, Magheritta, and Chicken Bruschetta. Everyone raves about the Buffalo Chicken. It is really good, but a bit rich for my taste. The Chicken Bruschetta and Magheritta were awesome. All of it was good, no complaints. I think if I were to come back I would order The Tuscan Bistro Salad. Tip: Watch out for the crazy drivers in the parking lot. I almost got run over walking in and back out to my car. read more

The service is outstanding, as there is an army of people that work here and they function as a team. A place I will visit each time I travel out here for work, which is at least monthly!
