I ordered the Sarda pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, black olives & sausage). Unfortunately it was soggy and falling apart in the center under the weight of too much cheese. The sauce also lacked the fresh, tangy tomato flavor that is characteristic of authentic Italian pizzerias. The sausage was also bland. It's not awful pizza, but it certainly lacked quality and character. I wouldn't come back here with so many other great options in downtown Campbell. The funny thing is that I came to La Pizzeria and ordered pasta instead! I just wasn't feeling pizza that day - I finished a workout and didn't want to gain back what I just worked off. The spaghetti aglio e olio was decent, but it was not enough. It could have used more flavor, such as some more garlic and chili pieces. This dish ended up a little plain. Because I didn't feel full enough, I ordered my go to Italian appetizer: caprese. Thankfully, it turned out to be a pretty big portion, with big pieces of tomato and mozzarella cheese slices. This place is too pricey for the portions served and the food quality. Most pasta dishes are above $15 and the portion is definitely not filling enough for most people. Even before walking through the door, I smelled an unbearable smoky smell inside that made me want to sit outside instead. On December 26, 2018, eight of us came in, after making a reservation, for dinner. As we arrive we were all promptly greeted, showed to our table, offered water, and given menus. We started with several antipasto Italiano (several cheeses, olives, and sliced cured meats). The Insalata Mista and Cesar salads we're very good. The pizza con patate - Pizza with mozzarella, potatoes (yes, potatoes) pancetta, onion, and rosemary was quite tasty (I had never seen or heard of thin sliced potatoes on pizza). The lasagna was very tasty and made for some great leftovers as the portion was large. The penne al salmone (smoked salmon) was enjoyed to the last bite. The penne salsiccia - Italian sausage with mushrooms, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, white wine, and truffle oil was mouthwatering. The ravioli with ricotta and spinach came with a flavorful butter sage sauce. The desserts that they offer change frequently. Are there they had the equivalent of crème brûlée (not called that) and it was amazing. The wait staff was attentive but in no way hovered. My aunt is a vegetarian and she ordered the pasta al siccila (or something like that) off the vegan menu and GIRL. Her pasta might have been better than mine! The truffle oil wafted through the air and penetrated my own poor pasta al salmone. It made me reevaluate my dish, my entire plan, my entire self. Same thing with the tiramisu. I ALWAYS order the tiramisu at every Italian restaurant--see my previous reviews where I haven't and see how let down I am. Again, tiramisu was impeccable as ever-BUT the creme brule someone else ordered was somehow...better?! How could this be?! Food and all the products are super fresh. 2. The quality of the product is super high. They don't use anything cheap. 3. The portion size. I don't like to have big portions that is for 4 people and it's greasy and unhealthy. Their portion it's not actually small but it's perfect size. 4. The food it's not greasy at all! I am very picky and believe cooking is an art. U can make anything taste good if you make it greasy which most restaurant do! But it's an art to know how to cook with the right material and know which goes well with what! I looked closely I didn't find a drop of grease! 5. The taste is unique. It might cuz they get some of their product from outside of the country! You are not going to have the same taste everywhere. 6. The Pizza dough is great. We've been patrons of La Pizzeria for probably close to 10 years now, so have experienced the ownership changes, interior renovations, etc. Fortunately, the one thing that's remained the same, is the pizza -- it is very, very good. Definitely amongst the top 5 spots in the Peninsula / South Bay for thin crust, wood fired, Naples style authentic Italian. The current iteration of La Pizzeria (Feb, 2019) is definitely worth the trip. However, it has definitely lost some of its original charm -- the beat up wood bar is gone, and the modern decor, while clean, is much more sterile that the original "dive" vibe. As Campbell has grown up, so too has La Pizzeria -- if you want a table on Fri / Sat after 6:30pm, you probably want a reservation. The Good: - Pizza: Super thin crust, focus on cheese, personal size, only cut if you ask for it - Appetizers: Great selection, and all well done. The Antipasto is a meal all by itself with 5 meats, nice mozzarella, and artichoke - Pasta: No clue. Would never waste my time getting pasta in a pizza place this good. - Drinks: Decent wine selection, good beer taps (typically 5 - 6), and a handful of fun cocktails - Service: Changes a lot from year to year, but always friendly The Bad: - Decor: The new decor is clean, but not as comfortable as in the past - Value: LP is not a cheap stop -- as a family of 4 we get 4 pizzas, an appetizer, 2x wine, 2x beer, 1x soda, 1xsoda and we're talking $140. Wow! Great find in the hood. Most kids love Italian and our friends kids seem to want to eat only Italian when they go out! We asked them what they wanted to eat and they unanimously screamed pasta! We looked up nearby restaurants and voila pops this gem as a recommendation on yelp. We loved what we read and when we got here on a Saturday night it was relatively empty around 9.30 and was open till 11pm. The decor was industrial and inviting. The service staff was excellent and quickly seated and took amazing care of the kids and their needs. The lady even carried both boys and showed them the kitchen when they were restless. The food was perfect! We ordered the caprese which has eggplant, onions and tomato with pesto sauce and was super delish. We ordered 2 pizzas with it and 2 pastas. Everyone of them had a distinct flavor profile and the crust was cooked just right! Finally for dessert we got the creme brûlée and hazelnut with chocolate sauce float. Oh my! Spaghetti cacio e pepe $16: I've had gnocchi cacio e pepe at a restaurant in San Diego and it was delicious, so I wanted to see if I could find a place that served this dish at home. They weren't able to substitute gnocchi, but gave the options of penne and orecchiette, so I went with the later. When I had it at the other restaurant, it was a creamy, rich sauce. Here, it was quite literally cheese and pepper on the pasta, so I can't say I was a fan of this preparation. Affogato $7: In my opinion, the vanilla ice cream wasn't sweet enough to contrast with the bitter espresso. It's nice that they give you the espresso separately so you can pour how much you want. The pizzas are personal ish sized but you could share one between two people. It's about 8 small slices..I went with the mushroom and gorgonzola cheese pizza because I love mushrooms on my pizza. They could have added more mushrooms but the cheese combo was amazing. The crust was a bit lackluster as well, dry and unseasoned. What impressed me was the paper thin crust. It also reheated well the next day. They also have all manner of pasta and dessert if you don't feel like pizza. PLEASE read till the end it's The good, the bad and the ugly. THE GOOD: the waitress was sweet, nice and had a nice Italian accent. The olive oil and red pepper flake mixture on tables is sooo good. THE BAD: the food. We ordered garlic cheesy bread but had to PAY extra for marinara sauce to dip it in ok maybe we just think it's a given to have garlic cheesy bread and marinara to dip it in but apparently the owners do not. It is an extra charge for marinara that tastes out of a can or jar very thin watery and lacking in substance. Also ordered a Caesar salad my guess the Caesar dressing is made of some sort mixture by the house containing mayo and mustard. It did not taste like Caesar dressing at all whatever it is they should not call it Caesar. Finally our main course 2 cheese pizzas..simple enough right? It took all of an hour to get those made while the table which arrived after us received their one pizza pie before us. The pizza was decent but not something that will make us come back for more. As a matter of fact we will never come here again. The UGLY: the place had one large party of 8 seated and one party of 2 when we sat down. It took way too long to get our main course! When we visited the bathroom there are shelves and shelves of canned vegetables. From artichokes to kidney beans it was truly an ugly sight. Ok I know not everything can be fresh but atleast attempt to make it seem fresh by hiding ur "secret ingredients". No they are there in plain view for all to see grab or tamper with so they should choose, yuck! And YES the rumor is true they look at you funny when u ask for them to cut your pizza! This is probably one of my new favorite pizza spots in the South Bay! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday for lunch and sat on the patio. It wasn't too busy since it was a little later in the afternoon and downtown Campbell was generally a little empty. We decided to share two pizzas: Prosciutto Arugula and Pizza alle Patate. They were absolutely DELICIOUS! I love authentic Italian pizza and this place seriously gives you so much flavor and the perfectly cooked crust. Our server was also really great. When deciding where to go out to eat last night, my friend suggested La Pizzeria. She said the Cupertino location was delicious, and we love the environment in downtown Campbell, so it seemed like a great option for a Saturday night. I looked up the menu and was excited to see that they accommodate my gluten free and dairy free diet. Unfortunately, this was the worst pizza I've tried. I asked if they could make the Vegetariano Calzone on the gluten free crust. They have another vegetarian pizza with vegan cheese, but the toppings on the calzone were more to my liking. Our server said that she would check with the cooks. She returned and said they would be able to make that pizza on gluten free crust, but clarified that it would not be in calzone form, which I completely understood. When it came time to bring out the pizza, she placed a pizza with sausage, salami, and ham with vegan cheese in front of me. I explained that this was not what I ordered, and she told me it actually was. While I do eat meat, I don't eat ham, and know for certain that I ordered the Vegetariano Calzone on gluten free crust. My server seemed annoyed, but nonetheless took the pizza back and said she would remake my order. I didn't want my friend's food to get cold, so I encouraged her to eat while I waited. I was disappointed to see that when the correct pizza was brought out, the vegan cheese wasn't melted in the slightest. The toppings also didn't taste very cooked, especially the eggplant and mushrooms. If I hadn't already sent the first pizza back, I would have sent this one back too. I ate two pieces because I was starving but left the rest. My friend and I asked for the check and the server asked if we needed any boxes. I did not, as I knew it would just sit in my fridge if I took it home. Upon receiving the bill, I was charged $26 for the pizza, an additional $6 for gluten free crust, and an additional $7 for mozzarella. It's almost laughable that I could be charged $39 for what I received. I was very confused by the $7 charge, because vegan mozzarella is included on this pizza. I spoke to another staff member that was nearby and explained I was incorrectly charged for the $7 add on of mozzarella. I also let her know that the pizza was not good and pointed out that the cheese wasn't melted. I said I was willing to pay for the pizza and gluten free crust, but wouldn't pay the additional amount for vegan cheese that is advertised to come on the pizza. I understand that everyone has preferences on flavor, but I don't think anyone who follows a gluten free/dairy free diet would have found an undercooked, flavorless pizza appetizing. I also want to note that the prices on La Pizzeria's online menu and menu posted in front of their establishment are inaccurate and have gone up since last updated. My friend said her Spaghetti Carbonara was okay, but a little dry and better at the Cupertino location. The pizza and pasta that other people in the restaurant were eating looked tasty, so maybe if you don't have to follow a special diet, La Pizzeria could be a good option for you. We were the only people in the restaurant today and the server messed up our order and ignored us. La Pizzeria is a relatively low-key Italian joint that serves grand portions of Italian favorites. The interior might feels a little outdated and lighting is a bit too dim to read the menu, but the spacious dining area makes it a perfect place for large groups. On top of that, the restaurant was never that busy, hence no waiting game, yes, even on weekend nights! Lack of serious lighting and mostly empty restaurant aside. This place remains one of my favorite dining spot in downtown Campbell, simply because their cheesy garlic bread and their Penne Salsiccia pasta is absolutely to die-for! Their pizza, however, was just average for me, depending on the choice of toppings, some can be really bland. So far, I've tried: Capricciosa, Arugula and prosciutto and Pino's favorite. Pino's was probably my go-to, because it has everything I love; ham, artichokes, tomatoes and egg... I'm a sucker for eggs anything :P. And my least favorite was their Arugula and prosciutto, the arugula given was in heaping portions... giving it a bitter taste overall. Service is super nice and friendly, food always comes out lightning fast and price is reasonable. It's a nice sit-down restaurant with a warm atmosphere, but still casual enough to just have a relaxing conversation with friends over your meal. The outdoor seating is perfect during lunch on a nice day in downtown Campbell. The menu features personal-sized (large), thin crust, brick oven pizzas, with minimalistic but gourmet toppings and priced at about $10-$14 for dinner, $6-$9 for lunch. My personal recommendations: Prosciutto Arugola (fresh prosciutto sliced when you order it, grated parmesan, and arugola salad), Calabrese (italian sausage, sliced like salami), and Estate (no tomato sauce, just parmesan, fresh tomato, and basil). MmMmMm, I'm craving one, just thinking about it! Don't feel like pizza? I've had their Penne Salsiccia quite a few times too, and it's delicious!! Your pizza may or may not be cut for you already when it comes out. I prefer to ask them to cut it for me... but depending on who your waiter is, you will either get a smirk and some mumbling about how they don't cut your pizza in Italy, or a cheerful smile and a prompt slicing with a pizza-roller. My favorite pizzeria in downtown Campbell! I've been coming here for years. It's located next door to Katie Blooms and across the street from the Socialight. This place is always packed at night, and with good food always comes many customers! Food: My favorite dish is the spaghetti bolognese, which I could eat every day! They slow cook the bolognese sauce to perfection and I've noticed that they've increased the portion a bit which is awesome. Back in the day the portion used to be small, but they give a lot more now! I also like their Margherita pizza, which is excellent thin crust pizza. I like thin crust pizza in this style, it's much easier to eat that super thick pizza and not as heavy. Ambiance: The dining area feels a little cramped, but what Italian restaurant doesn't? lol The lighting is dim like other people say but it isn't that dark. I've been to much darker restaurants where I had to use my phone light to read the menus. They have tvs from what I remember at the bar area. Service: I haven't had any problems with service here. Received my order through door dash, I'll give them credit due to door dasher being late and food was extremely cold. But I ordered the Cannelloni and it had zero flavor and zero sauce, I ended up cracking open a jar of Prego and adding sauce myself. And for $19.00 there's got to be 3 Canellonis not 2, I'm sure your cost is less than $3.00 for that. I also got a Caesar salad and the Romain lettuce had dirt on it, seriously????? Wash the lettuce please. Second dish we got was penne salsiccia and man it was dry. Not ordering from here again, dunno how the reviews are so high. read more

Move over, Round Table! You ain't got NOTHING on La Pizzeria!! I've never really been a fan of your typical American pizza. It's too much bread and/or too many toppings. I'm always in search of a great thin crust pizza. And this place hits the spot! There are no Hawaiian and Super Combo pizzas here. I've never had pizza from Italy (but I hope one day!), but this place has got to be close to it! Toppings range from prociutto, blue cheese, smoked salmon and more! I've tried the Tirolese which has blue cheese, onions, and smoked prociutto. It was GREAT. Totally tasty without having too much crust to get in the way. There are also calzones if you want an inverted pizza. =P For those not feeling pizza, they also serve paninis for lunch and salad and pasta for both lunch and dinner. I've tried their Penne Quattro Formaggi which is a four cheese (mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and gorgonzola) penne pasta. It's full of flavor without being super heavy and overly covered by cheese and cream. There is about a $4 price difference between lunch and dinner prices. So for those on a budget, I suggest going there for lunch (about $10) instead of dinner (about $14). This place also features an extensive wine list for you wine lovers. =) They're also open until midnight on the weekends for you late night trekkers. Open until 10PM during the week. If you're into authentic Italian fare, then go try the pasta at A Bellagio, only about 1.5 blocks away, which is owned by the same owner as this place. Whoa; just total improvement! After writing my review for them, the manager apologized and sent me a gift certificate right away. I was a bit hesitant but finally decided to go back on Monday to give it another try. Our server, Nicholas, was apt to help us out. We ordered the Antipasto appetizer again and then chose the Pizza alla Francese. I noticed there was a different manager then the older gentleman in previous times and he was actually quite helpful with our server and didn't seem to be micro managing like the owner(?) before. The antipasto platter was delish as always and I was impressed by our pizza choice as well; perfectly cooked and just melt in your mouth amazing. I'm glad that I came back to try again and see that service and management is back on par! read more
