Our last visit just a few weeks ago on a Friday evening was just blah. The crowd, service and food seemed to be lacking all over the Restaurant. Our waiter seemed to be a bit confused about our food and beverage order and seemed despondent on waiting on our party. I have always enjoyed visiting the restaurant and the food. Maybe someone was just having a night off. It's okay.

Love their Margaritas and chips & salsa while you wait for your order.

Not sure why I haven't reviewed La Playa Maya before. We have been coming to their Westside location for years. It's our go to Mexican food place in Fort Worth. Restaurant has a nice dining area with tables and booths and a small bar. There is a patio you can enjoy when the weather is nice. Everyone (Maria, Lupe, Bianca, Millie, to name a few) is warm and friendly. They treat you like family. Service is prompt, chips and salsa arrive almost immediately after you are seated. Great way to make you feel welcome. And their food is great! My last visit I had their Carne a la Mexicana, one of my go to orders. Portions are large enough for me to have take home of 1-2 more meals. My husband likes variety when he comes so he ordered the Tres Amigos. Can't make up your mind? Just order this dish and get a taco, an enchilada, and a fajita. My only complaint about this place is we always eat way too much, it's that good. I highly recommend them if you're looking for a great Mexican restaurant. Maybe I'll see you there.

    #8 Lunch Special

The atmosphere and ambience is the best thing about this place. The food was horrendous. The lunch chicken special was played with no thought in mind for presentation, the chicken was undercooked, veggies were obviously bag steamed and unseasoned, rice was presented decently but was overcooked and mushy. The service was slow and the manager was incredibly disrespectful when I asked if they honor a military veterans discount; I was laughed at and told my total. I will not be returning to this establishment and do not recommend eating here under any circumstances.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and shared the appetizer plate with my Mom. It was more than enough for us to share and we really enjoyed it. We got a mixture of chicken & beef. Service was good, friendly & fast. The salsa is the only thing I would recommend for improvement based upon this visit. It tastes very much like medium Pace picante sauce.

Went to another place that was closed for some reason, another family that was there recommended La Playa Maya - and it did not disappoint. Staff is extremely attentive, friendly and fast. Food is delicious. The nacho app is individually topped chips, so everyone has is loaded!!! Pure genius!!!!! Salsa is really good, right amount of heat and flavor. Had the sour creme pollo enchiladas - chicken was seasoned and very tasty, sauce was not overpowering. All around awesome spot!

It had been a long time since we dined at any LPM, so we treated grandsons Evan and Austin at this location. Their complimentary chips and salsa are very nice. Thin, crispy chips and tasty salsa with a nice kick of heat. We started our meal with a small order of meat, bean and cheese nachos and the queso flameado with chorizo. Both were very good. For entrees we each had something different. My wife ordered the fajita medley for one. Evan had the chicken enchiladas. Austin the child's cheese enchilada and I the beef enchiladas. It all arrived hot and everything was delicious. Our server Johnnie was excellent. The ambiance is very quiet and relaxing. We will be back.

This is our last day in Ft Worth, TX and we returned to La Playa Maya for lunch and when I tell you that they understand the quality of good service it is not just a statement but Really True.. Manager George Lister showed Us that quality of service is important to him as well as his staff. George Lister Thank You for one of the best Enchiladas and tacos I've eating in a long time. I suggest La Playa Maya to one and all. Chicken Fajitas, beef enchiladas and fresh hard shell tacos a few good choices

Excellent food and service! Lots of choices from the menu. This place is one of my favorite Tex Mex places in Ft Worth. I've never been disappointed. Great Margaritas too!

This was really disappointing. Very bland and I would rather have taco cabana. They don't even sell Jarritos anymore , smh

They were stuffed with tender meat and were not excessively greasy. They come with onion and cilantro and three different salsas. Kind of embarrassed to say I ate it all but I couldn't help it. The place has interesting murals and Mexican music and clay plates which made it feel more authentic. Service was friendly although they gave my plate to the person next to me, they went back and brought me my food fairly quickly. The horchata was also very good.

It's easily our favorite place for anything birria. From the birria pizza to the tacos, everything is incredible. The dipping consomé is seriously to die for, and the meat is cooked to absolute perfection. The service is great, and the Chicano art painted throughout the restaurant gives the whole place such a cool, authentic vibe. We always share the combo because you get a little bit of everything, and trust me, it will definitely fill you up. Seriously, get it. This is our number one taco spot in DFW, and after your first visit, it might be yours too.

As today is Cinco de Mayo a Margarita was in order and the house pour was lovely. We shared a bottle of California Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the Ceviche Tatemado followed by the Tacos de Barbacoa which is the Tuesday lunch special. Both the ceviche and barbacoa tacos were just so enjoyable. The striped bass and octopus ceviche here is a unique preparation that sings in the tangy lime and Serrano vinaigrette in which it is prepared.
